Do a search for why WWF sued - and won against - WCW for having Scott Hall use parts of his Razor Ramon gimmick for his persona in WCW.</div></blockquote><p> They won?</p>
  2. I think the word "penalty" is what gets to people. Just because a match in TEW suffers a "penalty", doesn't mean it can't score even an A* rating. It's just a factor working against the match being text book perfect - to whatever degree - and not something that will deem a match a failure. A wrestling match works best when the people are supporting someone over another, and this is why wrestling has always had babyfaces and heels; it adds to the drama.

You can still have a classic between two babyfaces. It's just not as good as an equally good match would have been between a babyface and a heel. I hope I make sense.

  3. <p>I'd welcome the proposed change to how gimmicks work. For years now, I've played TEW with only 13 or so gimmicks, which are simply called Brute, Cocky, Weasel... basically, the names of the basic types of gimmicks available. And I've made them so they fit pretty much anyone who has the performance required to pull that gimmick off. This is one of the many reasons I like doing my own mods; because I have multiple of these "my way" kinds of things. I was never a big fan of gimmicks in TEW, and that has been my workaround.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, if I was to make a modern day mod with gimmicks the way they work in TEW 2016 and before... what is Seth Rollins' gimmick? What about AJ Styles? Roman Reigns? What are these people's gimmicks? This is actually a sort of criticism towards modern day wrestling in general, but still; if I were to make a modern day mod for TEW 2016 right now, using gimmicks, guys like that would stump me.</p><p> </p><p>

I'd simplify gimmicks to the point of just reducing gimmicks to a rating. Remove the naming process, even. That's needless work. Let us debut and change gimmicks, etc. use a creative stat and some random factors to determine their success rate, and give them a rating.</p><p> </p><p>

    Like.</p><p> </p><p>

    AJ Styles</p><p>

    Current Gimmick Rating: B+</p><p>

    Last Tweaked: November 2018</p><p> </p><p>

Or something like that. And I guess workers themselves could have input, and maybe they'd also have their own creative stat to use in the math. This would be to simulate creative cases such as Raven and Matt Hardy who have been able to create memorable gimmicks and angles on their own.</p>

  4. So i get it right if we then game realeases and use converted databases so not all features will work ? could we get what features list that will not work ?

I'm sure what Adam means is that in order to get the full experience, you do need to tinker with the converted 2016 database because there will be data in the new TEW 2020 game that doesn't have an equivalent in the old 2016 game. So, it's not like features will be disabled, per se; it's just that you need to edit certain data in the editor first.

  5. The original aim was to release the game in the summer of 2020. However, things have been progressing so well that I suspect we may now be looking a little earlier than that, possibly even Christmas 2019. You'll be reading about the progress in the upcoming developer's journal, and so the release date will be clearer as we move through the next year.

It was never a promise. And he clearly stated that the release date would be clearer towards the end of this year.

  6. April-July seems like such a long wait, but good things come to those who are patient. :)

I like the fact that the threads for product and attribute suggestions will be opened so early; this allows for people to think up and suggest all the products they want, so once the game comes out, the experience is already going to be as complete as possible.

The apparent scope of the game makes me very optimistic that this is going to be an awesome TEW experience. Looking forward to still hearing about new features through August!

I can see it being inserted, and why, but by itself? Odd. Why not just make North America, Central and South America, Europe, British Isles, Asia, Australia, heck even Africa so we can have all the continents represented and then dividing some of those in to sub regions, like India would obviously be one of those for Asia, and so on.</div></blockquote><p> Adam has answered to you already, in this very thread:</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Adam Ryland" data-cite="Adam Ryland" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Sure. India looks like it is has the potential to be a really big market down the line due to its size, political scene, and culture, so I think it's going to be far more important in the coming wrestling world than the two you mentioned. <p> </p><p> All three were debated, as was a Rest Of The World area (which was dropped because it was not feasible without having a negative impact on other features, not because it wasn't a fine idea), but ultimately there are space and processing time considerations to take into account and if only one area is going to be added, India is the clear choice for me.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote>
  8. <p>I was just thinking about this the other day, and since we're on the subject, I guess I'll just put Saudi Arabia into the Southern Mediterranean region in the game world. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I mean, that's sorta kinda where Saudi Arabia is... let's just say there was some crazy political incident in the game world, and Saudi Arabia is now considered to be a part of Europe, okay? Unless others have a better idea lol.</p><p> </p><p>

Maybe with the new "Locations" feature, I can just make a location called Saudi Arabia, or something. Or a city in Saudi Arabia. I don't really see a better way.</p>

  9. <p>Re-reading some of the Journal entries.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Each brand can be assigned a specific product (including an option to be "Company Default", which means it will automatically track to the one the company is currently using) as well as its own Match Focus and Angle Focus. This allows additional levels of customisation.</div></blockquote><p> Can we also set a brand specific match/angle <strong>ratio</strong>?</p>
  10. Which is something completely different, than having a crowd being simulated of actually sitting through all of that.

You can have a 3 hour Main Event right before a 3 hour Raw without tiring the crowd. By counting that as a singular 6 hour taping, things would simulate reality more

Adam has stated in this very thread that this is how it's going to be. The crowd will be simulated having been sitting through everything you put out that night in that arena.

    Feb 2020 is my date.

First month always full of updates

    So march have it playable

Real world mods probably around July.

So about a year from now you will be booking hogan vs Goldberg in hive mod or booking hogan vs savage in mod squad mod.

Speak for yourself, I make my own real world mods. I hate people assuming that your only choice is to play other people's mods.

  11. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="nerodragomir1" data-cite="nerodragomir1" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>That's a bone chilling thought.<p> </p><p> They already book 10 hour PPV's though</p></div></blockquote><p> Probably the biggest reason I stopped watching around the time 3 hour RAWs became a thing, and never looked back. And from what I hear, it's only gotten worse. No wonder they're losing viewers; no adult can be expected to have that much time for watching fake fighting. And yes, it's a children's product, but I think the majority of their audience has still been adult males.</p>
  12. Could you imagine booking 4 straight hours of Raw or an 8 hour PPV? Who in the hell needs that much time? I do love that the time has been increased. I just shake at the idea of booking a TV show for 4 hours or a PPV for 8. I sometimes could genuinely see me booking a PPV for 4'ish hours for a New Japan supercard. Other than that. I'll keep my TV shows at an hour thirty & PPV's at two hours thirty minutes for 95% of my shows. I can see some psycho's here booking an eight hour show or booking two shows a week at four hours a piece.

4h TV shows and 8h PPVs will probably be needed soon for real life WWE mods.

  13. I don't think it hurts popularity or momentum, unless it's from actual bad booking period.

Take a current example someone else brought up... Shane. I think it's helping him be a stronger heel, maybe more momentum to be honest. Roman doesn't have the charisma to be what they tried making him, but because of what they tried to do, he is elevated quite a bit from it.

Honestly don't care one way or the other, never overused anyone outside of having too long of matches for openers years ago.

From what I've seen by browsing the wrestling forums, the overabundance of Shane has turned many people away from the product, actually. And Roman is actually a special case that doesn't really have anything to do with these mechanics. It's just that word got out that he was Vince's chosen one, and the company is seen as a major heel, so anyone who the company gets behind effectively turns heel. That coupled with the fact that this all started with people blaming Roman for Bryan not winning the Rumble that one year.

But it absolutely is a trend that even when internet favorites like a Dean Ambrose get the title, people quickly turn on them as the company is "shoving them down people's throats". It's been a trend for years now.

  14. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Munit" data-cite="Munit" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I really hope we get the ewr throwback rules</div></blockquote><p> Adam has stated that unless specifically stated otherwise, features aren't removed. I don't see a reason to expect the EWR throwbacks to be removed from the game. Also, very nice features today. Both the mod making QOL stuff, as well as the crowds turning on overused workers. I've seen a lot of people request for features to stop spam strats, so I guess we now have it.</p>
  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Gregkendell86" data-cite="Gregkendell86" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Let me clarify <p> </p><p> Bischoff has stated those big money contract were not as big as rumored now. People say hogan made 500k for ppvs. Actually that is true but hogan also had to meet merch sales, tv appearances, etc to get that 500k for ppvs. So rumor and the true contract always seemed to be different to people. </p><p> </p><p> Jim Crocket promotions was a threat to vince in alot of ways. Vince did some underhanded things to hurt jcp. Which I call karma because it was rumored nfl told nbc if they wanted nfl again. They need to get rid of xfl. Xfl was off nbc. Nbc had nfl the next year. So you do the math. </p><p> </p><p> 89 jcp had 2 million on books but nobody would pony up the money. So ted turner bought wcw from jim crockett. After that it was just a regular company until Bischoff. He did change the game. He also helped kill wcw though. So what everyone says is true. Bischoff is a great businessman but not much of a booker. Paul heyman is a great booker but a terrible businessman. So they could stir wwe in the right direction if Vince got out of the way. </p><p> </p><p> Lastly </p><p> </p><p> This is not a rumor </p><p> </p><p> Shannon moore had a million dollar contract with wcw. Enough said</p></div></blockquote><p> Was I disputing some of this stuff? Is this an argument? Anyway, I will not add to this conversation further since it's offtopic. This is about TEW 2020. If someone wants to debate or discuss the history of WCW with me for some reason, feel free to DM.</p>
  16. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Hive" data-cite="Hive" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>That's a persistant rumor, but not true. WCW had guaranteed contracts before Bischoff. What made Bischoff's contracts for big names "special" was that they didn't have to work as many dates for the money as in WWF.</div></blockquote><p> You're right, but that's not what I meant. What I meant by Bischoff forcing his hand was that Bischoff started to take his talent, and really challenge Vince, which no one had done prior. WCW prior to Bischoff wasn't really a realistic threat. Bischoff doesn't get enough credit for turning that company around IMO.</p>
