Is it an issue with the AI not knowing how to properly schedule annual events? If so, this is the perfect time to fix it. And I can't think of any other reason why it would be necessary off the top of my head.</div></blockquote><p> It's my understanding that a "real" calendar would be a programming nightmare with the way things are setup in TEW. The 48 week calendar is simpler and easier. I don't mind it, personally. But I can see why it might bother other people.</p>

As it stands now, there are only 48 weeks in a TEW year.<p> </p><p> That said, I would love it if they did fix the calendar, regardless. So I'll just wait and see.</p></div></blockquote><p> Of course they would be accurate. Show #1 would be #1. And the 100th would be #100. The 500th show is the 500th show, regardless of how many weeks there are in the calendar.</p>
  3. <p>Oh my God I would love that. Granted, the calendar system TEW uses makes it fairly easy to just count the episodes if you're aiming for a "1000th Episode" special, or some such - and that's what I do, personally. But as someone who usually starts his saves January 1993, it'd be fun to book numbered RAWs all the way to present times. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I know this isn't the suggestions thread, but I'm just thinking out loud. Though maybe WCW steals away my ratings and puts me out of business with the new Broadcasting changes!</p>

The only advantage I can think of is you can schedule it on a day that no one is absent, and most of the time, if you have TV, you'll also have exclusive contracts. <p> </p><p> Also, there is another major drawback, worker fatigue.</p></div></blockquote><p> As stated in the Journal, it costs less to block tape since all the equipment and the setup is already in place.</p>

But I think that as far as a "benefits and drawbacks" kind of gameplay features goes, this works really well.</p>
  7. There's been some confusion about this feature over at EWB, as well as the Discord, so just for clarification: "block tapings" means that I can now play as WWF 1995, for instance, and tape four episodes of RAW in one sitting, right? As in four episodes of a particular show, as opposed to just taping RAW, SmackDown, Superstars, and Heat on the same day. I just woke up from a nap, so my brain isn't functioning at full capacity, so I hope I phrased the question in a way that makes sense.
  8. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>1) why would block taping reduce revenues in any way? It's a pure cost cutting move irl and at worst i could see it giving the shows a slight hit to quality for being a bit stale... And even that only for A shows.</div></blockquote><p> Spoilers leak out. A good real life example of this is WWEäs overseas RAWs; they always cause a drop in viewership due to the fact that the results are online before the episode airs in America. It only makes sense: if there's a way to find out what happens on RAW without sitting through the entire thing, why would anyone watch it? Well, why would anyone watch RAW at all, period, is a question in and of itself, but that's a different thread.</p>

The biggest feature thus far, and one that I don't see getting topped by anything. This is what I've been waiting for. And I know I'm only one of many. This should make a lot of people very happy. Nice! Now the wait for TEW 2020 has officially begun for me. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

  11. Fantastic. Seems like the Monday Night Wars are now finally on. The ratings and the lack of a true ratings war has always been something that has bothered me in the old TEW games. I'm very much looking forward to this. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

All we get are a few lines/paragraphs about new features simply to hype that they're happening but we're all such pessimists that we make a judgement on them before seeing them in action. The fact is we (and that possibly includes Adam himself) don't know how it's going to work until the game is released. I love the fact that the game feels like something brand new this time around though, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.</div></blockquote><p> I mean, you're not wrong.</p>
  14. I don't know. Isn't the goal of a wrestling promoter to give the fans what they want in order to make the most money? If someone is over or getting over, even though it wasn't your intention, you should just run with it, shouldn't you?

Yes, there have been situations where this wasn't the case, but I think the game already replicates this very well: Owner goals, destiny rolls, nepotism etc. is already part of the game and I'm sure there'll be even more in the new game and I'm sure they'll be even more realistic.

This is a bit offtopic, but here's the thing, though. Wrestling isn't that simple. Sometimes, it can be really hard to decipher what the people really want. For nearly a decade now (I'd say it really started to be noticeable in 2011, especially post-pipebomb) there's been a huge disparity between the reactions for wrestlers in the arenas, and TV ratings and buyrates, merch, etc. Going by crowd reactions alone, one could be under the illusion that CM Punk was over. Yet, he turned away viewers! People who were watching RAW would regularly tune out when a Punk segment came on. This is documented. But when the WWE doesn't push guys like CM Punk, the hardcore portion of the fans get angry because they don't understand "Why the WWE just isn't giving us what we want?"

Because it's not that simple. The difference between a hardcore fan and a casual fan is quite immense. And so is the difference between what these two groups of fans actually want. Roman Reigns, for instance, has been a top merch seller during his time on top. But the TV and PPV crowd reactions could easily fool you into thinking everyone hates him. They don't. It's just only certain types of fans (a small snapshot of the entire fanbase) attend the live shows.

All this is why I'd like popularity/how well known someone is, and actual overness being separate in a TEW game. Overness as in the ability to actually draw money and new viewers. Pleasing your existing fanbase is only a part of it; you need to get more fans for your product.

All in all, I think the new feature sounds like a big improvement over what TEW 2016 has, and I'm hyped. But I've always had my problems with the "popularity" rating in all the TEW games. Mind you, it's nothing that I can't live with it, and accept for gameplay reasons in an otherwise excellent and super fun game.

  15. I'm hoping that in amongst momentum being a strong factor in how crowds perceive workers, that there's some way to replicate underdog popularity.

Tye Dillinger loses every NXT match and eventually gets over to the point where new guys get booed tor beating him on their way in. Becky Lynch went about a year (at least twice) with no notable victories, always losing feuds and getting pushed aside, but always had the crowd's support. She was on a quiet winning streak just before she hit it big, but again it was a high-profile loss that pushed her over the edge...

It can't always be a case of losses equalling popularity/momentum loss.

Heh, the funny thing about Becky was that her heel turn was, in fact, a massive babyface turn. But I think that when it comes to some of this stuff, we're going to have to accept that TEW is a game, and sometimes the way crowds react to certain wrestlers is just too nuanced for a game of this nature to handle correctly. For instance, I feel that what happened with Roman was an isolated case, not something I'd build an entire game mechanic around.

People are having a discussion about what they read and they read this:</div></blockquote><p> That is not true. A few people were definitely discussing the lack of roster sorting when booking shows. I think people jump the gun a bit when reading the journal since Adam is going through stuff aspect by aspect. We haven't gotten to the actual booking of shows/matches yet - and we don't know anything about it. Whatever changes have been made to match making, will be revealed on the update that is specifically about match making. At least, that's how the format seems to be.</p><p> </p><p> I'd be stunned if there wasn't a way to sort the roster by perception while booking. But maybe the way to book matches has been completely overhauled, and won't be at all as it has been.</p>

  18. On the subject of TNA, I’m curious to know whether this will be better (or indeed worse) for simulating the relatively early days of that company.

They had widely-known stars like Kurt Angle and relatively unknown indies like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe sharing the main event. A mod would properly feature a disparity in their popularity, which led to the likes of Angle bleeding popularity with every loss (or having to protect him through booking notes) - a rather frustrating booking experience.

I was hoping for a level of company-specific popularity for workers (to represent icons of a particular promotion, people who only achieved particular popularity in a certain environment, etc), but look forward to testing this system out.

Yeah, company-specific popularity is something I've been wanting for a long time, as well. Companies all have their own fanbases. Bret Hart was a big deal in the WWF, but the WCW the audience never really took to him the same way. Sure, there's some overlap, but the WCW only fans weren't that into Bret. And your TNA example is very good, too. I'll reserve judgment until the entire journal is done, but I hope there is a massive popularity makeover in general. A worker being well known is different from a worker being over/a draw.

Also, CM Punk, in his heydey, is a great example of someone who was popular within the company's existing fanbase, but failed to draw outside of that bubble. He never drew new buys, he never drew new ratings. But the in-house crowds cheered him like crazy. Currently, there's no way for TEW to simulate this.

  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jalberico" data-cite="Jalberico" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>My question about the new push feature is this ...<p> </p><p> If you do in fact end up with a roster only made up of major stars, are those workers going to complain if they're not used in the main event?</p><p> </p><p> I mean, if we look at today's WWE, main-event level guys are used in the opening match of TV shows every week.</p><p> </p><p> But if you've got Reigns, Rollins, Ambrose, Cena, Lesnar, Strowman, Lashley, Ziggler, McIntyre, Owens, Bryan, Styles, Orton, Samoa Joe, Nakamura, Sheamus, Wyatt, Rusev, Jeff Hardy, etc., all of which could reasonably be pushed in the main event, will there be issues that surface if I'm not using all of those guys in the last match/angle of the show every week?</p><p> </p><p> Just want some clarification here, because if you do end up with too many major stars, someone's either going to have to slide down the card by default or risk "creative has nothing for you."</p></div></blockquote><p> Main eventers don't care about their actual placement on the card in TEW 2016. They only care about being used on the card. It can be anything from main event to opening match to referee to color commentator to 1 minute backstage skit.</p>
  20. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Donners" data-cite="Donners" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>It'd be nice to not get guaranteed 100 ratings every time you put certain people in an angle, but I hope it's more about the variables than the randomness. It'd be a bit frustrating to get dudded on ratings for a key moment by RNG.</div></blockquote><p> Heh, as a Mega Man X speedrunner, I must say that I hate RNG more than anything in the world, and I have a rich history of being screwed over by RNG. But having said that, a key promo in a key moment bombing, even though everything is perfect on paper, is how real life booking works, too. So there is that.</p>
