1. So I'm talking to Kyleigh Pirtle in my office, and we're looking at the data and our notes on the girls. "I think Karina Leith needs to go out of the lineup," she says. "Her shooting has been terrible, her PPS is easily the worst of the starters, and I've noticed her lack of quickness is getting her killed on defense." "So who do you suggest? Rose McCarthy and Jade Sand haven't looked any better in the minutes we've given them." "Sarah Bell? She's the only who hasn't see any court time at all, and she's one of our scholarship seniors." "Might as well try it." @ Colorado State (3-2) This went about how you might expect, though we set a new low by shooting under 30% from the floor. On top it, Lila Reyes pulls a groin muscle and is Day-to-Day. Tie it up on our last possession at the half and again allow a buzzer-beater score to be down 25-27 going into the locker room. We never get the lead back as the second half is all Brown, and it's only matter of if we lose by single digits or double. It turns out single, much like me. Of course, not that our 6 rated, 10th in the NEC facilities will help her develop anywhere close to her potentials. But if this is accurate, she steps on the court as a slightly worse rebounder than Lila Reyes but far better post defense than Day 1, and the best stealer on the team by a wide margin. Not enough to start instituting my planned pressure defense, of course, but still an improvement. Abigail Santoyo is back off academic suspension and immediately whining about playing time. 3. So I realized I was creating way too much unnecessary work for myself and just sorted by Prestige in-game, finding the perfect team to try and get to the postseason for the first time. We'll be switching from here to a mostly narrative approach. Out of game authorial commentary will be separated. *** "Wagner began play in 1970. They have won the Northeast Conference title just once, in 1989. That year, they went 22-7 (14-2 in conference play), winning both the regular season and the tournament (66-60 over Robert Morris). The Seahawks have never qualified for a postseason tournament, neither Division I nor WNIT nor WBI. As of the end of the 2015-16 season, the Seahawks have an all-time record of 511-665." (Wikipedia) It's 2013. And I've somehow ended up as the head coach of the Wagner women's basketball team. Dope logo. Not dope: NYC cost of living. The college is in Staten Island, which at least isn't the apartment-infested hellhole of Manhattan. I hate apartments. But I'm living in one. $70,000 can get you a nice place in some parts of the country on a yearly salary, but the world of college sports is a precarious one for coaches, and who knows how long I'll be here. I skim through the fact sheet left me by my predecessor: Wagner College Prestige: 6 Conference: Northeast Prestige Rank in Conference: 3rd to last, ahead of Bryant (1) and St. Francis (NY) [3] General Team Notes *Academic eligibility will be a concern - Just five players on the team are at least scholastically average (50+) *Corrine Hovis is the lone player with a demonstrable shot - she's good from 3-point range, but lousy everywhere else *I recruited heavily for quick (80+) point guards *McKenna Seely can play some post D, Karina Leith has a bit of two-way ability. Rely on these seniors for leadership and possibly your starting frontcourt unless you want Lila Reyes' solid rebounding in the lineup *Hannah Isom has the most upside on the roster. She can be a good 3 point shooter and perimeter defender Yasmin Ahmed was my first hire. Bangladeshi-American a couple years younger than me. She grew up in Salt Lake City where her father was a foreman at a plant for a company whose headquarters was in the NYC area. She'd been a scholarship player for Houston Baptist and I had a bit of fun teasing this young Muslim woman who grew up in a Mormon city and went to a Baptist college. She just smiled coolly at me and shook her head. Her poise drew people in, so she was a natural fit to be the Recruiting Coordinator. The administration was thrilled about the diversity hire and we got a lot of PR out of it. Yasmin had talent, though. Then there was Kyleigh Pirtle. Despite the modern first name, she was 59 years old, who also grew up in Wisconsin, in the town of Shell Lake and went to Tennessee-Martin. We bonded over our mutual German ancestry and love of defense, the latter of which she was actually legitimately skilled at teaching. I hoped she could help Isom grow into her potential on that side of the ball. Kyleigh certainly had success turning Shell Lake High into a defensive powerhouse at any rate after she graduated from Tennessee-Martin. Scouting Director was the biggest headache, but I realized I had more money in the coaching budget than I thought and was able to snap up Anastasia Cobb. A 47 year old black woman and Oregon native (The Dalles), she'd gone clear cross-country to attend Gardner-Webb and had a comparatively sharp eye for spotting talent. Which we frankly needed. Our non-conference schedule had a bunch of fellow bad teams and Rutgers. It was also Ivy League-heavy. In recruiting, since the previous coach focused so heavily on point guards, I found myself looking for SFs and bigs. We only had 2 scholarships to give out, so I wanted to focus on the players who looked most likely to epitomize the pressure defense I was looking to instill. Our first offer went to Czech PF Eliska Janousek. Couldn't shoot worth a damn, but great rebounder and defender by the stats and our subsequent scouting (for our level, anyway). Our second went to Neveah Orange not only had one of the best names ever, the New Jersey PF, if our scouting was accurate, already was the best inside shooter and looked to be a solid perimeter defender who'd suit up at the 3. Bad November news - Neveah Orange had narrowed it down to Long Island and us, then blew us off for the Blackbirds. Losing her to a rival NEC team hurt. But on the bright side, Hawaii, who had been sniffing around Eliska Janousek, buzzed off, leaving us the sole contenders for the Czech. Unfortunately, I'd been pouring all our recruiting money into our targets, so we were left scrambling when the Orange rejected us. The only player I cared about in training camp was Hannah Isom, and I sculpted her regimen to really focus on perimeter defense and 3 point shooting. She didn't have fantastic improvement, but it was solid... This team is what it is, so I don't particularly care to list the reserves. You'll get to know them eventually. We're walking a snail's pace offense with no motion, relying on our 3 point shooting (such as it is) and a lot of double-team help defense. @ Columbia (0-0) And so we stay in the NYC area and travel to Morningside Heights to take on the disastrous Lions. They're running a 5'7 and 5'9 forward combo, so I'm hopeful our height advantage will mean something. McKenna Seely wins the opening tipoff and Lila Reyes hits the ensuing jumpshot, so at least we don't trail the whole game. McKenna Seely draws a charge on the opposite end and Karina Leith dishes out to Corrine Hovis, who nails the 3-pointer and I'm starting to get a wee bit excited. Naturally Karina Leith picks up two quick fouls, Hannah Isom misses two free throws, and we fall behind until Lila Reyes converts an and-1 to put us back up. And then the pendulum swings back the other way - including McKenna Seely getting T-ed up in addition to a foul. If Hannah Isom and Breanna Jacques weren't a combined 3 of 10 from the charity stripe, we'd be leading at the half instead of down 30-32. Columbia is shooting a ridiculous 64.7% at the break, but they've also racked up 15 team fouls to keep us in it. Redshirt freshman Layla Landers is getting a run at PG because Isom is annoying me. The definite hero at the half for us has been Lila Reyes with 7 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist. Corrine Hovis has 9 with 1 steal, 1 turnover. From there, our shooting completely tanks, the Lions continue not to miss, and they totally crush us. 4. Absolutely classic website I stumbled upon while trying to figure out if Fairleigh Dickinson made the NWIT after their NEC tournament (and share of one) regular season championship in the late 80s/early 90s: http://womenscollegebasketballhistory.com Definite throwback to the past As you can see on that genuinely helpful website, you essentially had 2 tournaments per year (not unlike now). Except for the year 1997 - the NWIT folded in 1996 and the secondary women's tournament wasn't brought back until 1998. Website to list of champions and runners-up per year can be found on the Wikipedia page How are we doing on the NCAA tournament? Partway through the Es, I got sick of having to go back and forth to determine last year for things, so I switched to number of bids, S16s, E8s, F4s, and RUs. It's going a lot faster that way, and if I need to look up last year because I end up coaching one of those teams, I'll just hop to their page and find it. I'm also going to rule out Fairleigh Dickinson from the list. Odds are they made the NWIT so they're ineligible. I'm going strictly for colleges that have no D-1 invited tournament play of any kind in their history. Through the Gs, we have 7 listed, but I won't post the full list until I finish going through the NCAA tournament notes.
5. Thanks. eLicense is giving a different email address out, so y'all might want to reach out to them on that in case anyone else misses seeing the sticky (I know I did)
6. Whilst we're on the subject of licenses: Is the email address eLicense told me to send the license reset request to correct?
7. So I'm currently sitting in the Trial mode while I wait for GDS to reset my FBCB 2010 license (eLicense wouldn't do it). I'll be using Petrel's women's basketball mod, which includes name files and prestige ratings. But I also might be tweaking those ratings. I'm seeing some very odd things. 1. Binghamton having 23 prestige despite not appearing to have the record to deserve that. 2. Cornell being at 2 prestige despite a 2004 NCAA appearance, while Columbia has 17 prestige with only 2 winning records in Ivy League history - and one of those is in 2020 - well past when he made the database! 0 appearances of course. That one I would love a justification on. 3. UW-Green Bay being at 72 prestige just one Sweet 16 appearance. Granted in recent history at the time the mod was made, the Phoenix were pretty consistently in the tournament and having a habit of making the second round, but 72 still seems a little too high for me. 4. Western Illinois being at 4 prestige even though they have (an admittedly distant) NCAA tournament appearance and at least 2 WNIT appearances (I'm only through 2010 currently). That's still far better than Binghamton and Columbia, and arguably better than Cornell. Now if you want to argue that academic prestige and national reputation are part of the equation, that still does not square with such a wide disparity between Cornell and Columbia. Okay, okay enough complaining from me (there will be more later, I'm sure). So far, as noted I've gone through 2010 on the WNIT. I'll be going through 2012 since FBCB's default start year is 2013, and it becomes a real pain in the butt to tabulate teams once it expands to 64 teams (Note: FBCB only allows it to go to 40). The WBI is tabulated to 2012, but I haven't written down the champions of it yet. I might not because no one cares about the third-tier tournament. For the NCAA tournament, I'm through the C's, and though I'm tabulating until 2022, I still won't take any team that's made their first tournament appearance after 2012. I don't want the pressure of trying to repeat the real-life results Most interesting thing I've found: Arkansas Pine-Bluff bragging about their 1977-78 AWISA championship team - so much so that like 42 years later, they brought the team back to a game to acknowledge them: https://uapblionsroar.com/news/2020/1/17/1977-78-womens-basketball-champions-to-be-honored-saturday What's AWISA, you ask? Arkansas Women's Intercollegiate Sports Association. Basically, as JIMGA (who cracked the acronym for me) noted, essentially celebrating a conference championship. UAPB wasn't part of the AIAW, which was the national women's college organization at the time. As the article notes, they were part of the National Black Association of Black Sports. Other historical note: the women's NCAA tournament started in 1982. The AIAW also held their tournament that year, but the best teams, including defending champion Louisiana Tech, said bye to the AIAW and went to the NCAA tournament instead (LA Tech won the inaugural tournament, then won again in 1988, beating Auburn by just 2 points). Historical note 3? 4?: Auburn is the Buffalo Bills of women's college basketball. Three straight years - 1988, 1989, 1990 - they made the national championship game. They lost all three - by 2 to LA Tech in 88, by 16 to Tennessee in 89, by 8 to Stanford in 90. The Tigers have fallen off the map comparatively speaking since 1996, when they made their last Elite 8 appearance. That was the last time they made the Sweet 16, too. Anyway, next post I'll probably come yet with more cool facts/trivia, and maybe have some lists ready for y'all to read. Long, long lists.
8. For me, I'd rate Fortuna in the A tier. 2 additional actions per turn, plus 10 re-rolls to almost guarantee she's able to -2 the combat stats of an opponent. The only reason I don't rate her higher is she can't effectively deal damage herself. She's purely Support. Bee Girl will be underrated by most players, I believe. They'll look at the 3 Health and nope out. But she has a free -1 Ranged Defense and an AOE attack that automatically stuns if hits. Her power level is too low to rate higher than C tier, but I've been pleasantly surprised by her.
9. Heroes who grant additional actions (Agent Fortuna, Pathway - just to name a couple) are some of the most important you can bring to a team, and the larger the battle, the more critical they are. The converse is also true - enemies who have the grant additional actions ability should be your #1 target, irrespective of everything else - even those who generate drones. From my own testing, if you can include Pathway on a team, do it. She not only grants additional actions, but has a free ability that allows her to move up to 3 allies to any position even if they're otherwise ineligible. The cycle goes like this: 1. Use everyone's free actions to best set yourself up for the plan of attack you're pursuing this turn. 2. Move your three biggest hitters into advantageous positions (Aggressive or At Range usually) and have them attack. 3. Move them back to the best defensive position with her ability (Typically In Cover)
10. So, that ends the six-episode trial run. Now to decide whether to pick it up and continue this, pick it up and start new, or wait and see if a Black Friday sale hits
11. "Down to their last hope. Just eight heroes remained in Boomtown following the defeat of The Nuclear Family and CATS. There was an opening, a weakness that evil could exploit... "Soon, this town will be mine. Very soon." Cackles came from C.R.A.W.L., Callous, Snow Giant, and Flying Buttress at Madame Sin's announcement. The Masked Cavalier said nothing, as he was busy peering at the Shark Tank and trying to figure out how it worked. Meanwhile, in the Nuclear Zone, the final eight were gathered and discussing which one of them would drop out of the outcoming battle for Boomtown. "It should be me, I guess," said Glitterbug. "I can lead the resistance from social media if... you know..." Silence fell over the others, save for Bee Girl's droning hum. It was broken by Darvin the Monster Hunter's grunt. Morphin' Orphan and Cyco remained silent. "Yes," said Master Phoenix, the leader of what remained. "Stay behind, Glitterbug. We need you as our last fail-safe." "We'll win!" declared the Patriot Missile, while Pathway rolled her eyes. "Glitterbug's not the only one who knows social media, dude." "You wish to withdraw?" Pathway sighed. "Duh, no, Master Phoenix. I'm just say-" "Let us go then." The teen glowered as the old man interrupted her, but followed as the group rushed to catch Madame Sin and her cabal unawares. They did, but failed to take advantage. Darvin the Monster Hunter was stunned early in the battle, and it looked like a tidal loss upcoming for the heroes, but then Bee Girl and Cyco sent out swarms of bees and energy respectively, resulting in all three ninjas accompanying Madame Sin and Flying Buttress being beaten. Snow Giant fell to the Patriot Missile's punch soon after. Madame Sin became stunned and was nearly defeated, but just barely managed to dodge Darvin the Monster Hunter's vampiric attack. Also stunned were C.R.A.W.L. and the Shark Tank. Darvin the Monster Hunter went down, but then so did Madame Sin after the Patriot Missile's aggressive move to literally punch her lights out. The Shark Tank was likewise disabled and looked to be so damaged as to be out of commission for some time. Pathway calmly channeled her teen anger into providing intelligence for more attack avenues for the heroes, and moving her teammates out of dangerous positions. She also psionically shocked C.R.A.W.L. and put him on the verge of defeat. The Masked Cavalier surprisingly downed Cyco, removing the defenders' most powerful threat, but time was not on the invaders' side. C.R.A.W.L. fell to a Morphin' Orphan blast and only luck saved Callous from Pathway's psionic shot that would have eliminated him. It didn't matter. Patriot Missile continued to launch himself at Callous and the Masked Cavalier until they fell unconscious, Pathway's teleportation abilities keeping the heroes safe from further injury. They'd done it... against all odds, the heroes saved Boomtown from falling into the clutches of Madame Sin. "Thank you, Pathway. We owe this victory to you and Patriot Missile," Master Phoenix said solemnly. Pathway only smiled, then looked irritated as The Patriot Missile laughed, "Told you we'd win!" In the aftermath, Flying Buttress was committed to an insane asylum, while Snow Giant joined the ranks of jailed villains. A post-issue series of panels revealed the robotic protector Mainframe was once again active. *** "Best issue yet," Geoff told the air. "I thought sure Madame Sin was gonna take over Boomtown." The next day at lunch, Trent agreed. "Yoooo duuuude, Pathway got it going on! Patriot Missile wouldn't have done jack if she kept pulling him back!" "Do you have a new bae?" "Well..." grinned Trent, "You know me and those blonde girls." "Like Lisa, the chick that works at Electronics Warehouse?" "You know it!" "You're both nerds," interjected Ira, pushing his glasses up on his nose. "Um, you're sitting with us dude. That makes you a nerd, too!" Trent and Ira fell into bickering and bantering while Geoff looked out at the cool autumn landscape outside the cafeteria windows of Central Community College. The academic standards weren't exactly high. It was the kind of place where you only went if you didn't have the grades to get into a university, wanted to save money by getting your gen eds out of the way before transferring, or were one of those people who wanted to change to a vocational field later in life. The three of them had gone to the same high school together, and though they were college freshmen now, Geoff still felt in a lot of ways like he was still in high school. He'd left home right away to get away from Dad's drinking. Mom split years ago, and Geoff hadn't spoken to her much since then. A card and call on his birthday. That was about it. "Hey, Earth to Geoff. Earth to Geoff." "What? Sorry, Trent." "It's cool. Hey, Ira left to go to the library. Wanna walk around before Algebra?" "Sure."
12. We were flooded with angry emails from fans. "Why'd you feature Vexxer Daemonchild when he was just in one part??!!!" "Ranged attacks shouldn't work in The Rigged Table according to the CBU Players Handbook. Why did they?" "Too many people went to jail this issue!" And so on. When I went to the writers, Sal said, "We've already figured this out. Check this: So Grand Knight Assay, Medusa, and Vexxer Daemonchild are still working together, right? They've heard about how the Agents of CATS took down Colonel Deft and Xtinction, so they recruit QuadBod to go after them. Gold Star joins because he's angry about his mom, Princess Corral, getting sent to jail, and wants revenge on every superhero he can find." "Sounds good. So obviously we'll have Agents Fortuna, Torrent, and Spark join. What else were you thinking?" "Well, since The Nuclear Family has already been working with CATS, Mister Meltdown steps in and Big Chill joins him. It'll be another Nuclear Family/CATS teamup, and it'll be a banger, considering Arthur and company lost to a lot of these guys a few issues ago." "Let's do it." *** "Holy crap, dude! The Nuclear Family and CATS against Grand Knight Assay, Vexxer Daemonchild, and Medusa! That's gonna be a great fight that's gonna tip the balance of the universe!" Geoff couldn't help but smile at Trent's enthusiasm. "Yeah, and it'll combine the two universes we like." The boys went to the basement in Trent's parents' house, cracking open Mountain Dews. Geoff took his usual chair and Trent sprawled out on the couch as they started reading the newest issue silently. The Nuclear Family and Agents of CATS were at Capsey Manor discussing their next move when they were suddenly attacked. Grand Knight Assay brought two Vulcan Shock Troopers with him but the heroes found cover and avoided injury. The Big Chill blasted ice at Grand Knight Assay, QuadBod, and Vexxer Daemonchild, stunning and injuring all of them with perfectly timed hurls. Medusa wasn't going to let that fly and snake-bit Big Chill. A rifle blast from a Shock Trooper later, and he was out of the fight. Things were looking grim for the heroes when Mister Meltdown punched Assay hard and Agent Spark's Inferno Blast took the leader of the Knights of Vulcan down, also sending Vexxer into a panic state. "Damn you CATS!" roared Vexxer, as the Shock Troopers fled the field, dragging the unconscious Assay with them. Medusa's attempt to Snake Bite Agent Torrent failed thanks to a rushing Wall of Water, but then Gold Star struck from the air with an explosion of energy that perfectly hit Agent Torrent to knock her out and wound Mister Meltdown. It wasn't enough to prevent Mister Meltdown from knocking out Vexxer, however. Things were once again looking grim for the heroes, but Agent Spark gave them a faint flame of hope when her fire blasts hit QuadBod and Gold Star. Still, Mister Meltdown's efforts to heal himself failed, still putting things in a precarious position. A precarious position that became nearly untenable as a flawless flurry of punches by QuadBod followed by another energy bomb by Gold Star knocked out Spark and put Fortuna and Meltdown on the verge of collapse. A collapse that came when Medusa snake-bit Meltdown. Fortuna fought bravely in a 3-on-1 and nearly knocked out QuadBod, but finally a final Snake Bite by Medusa secured the victory for the enemy. "Let's leave them here," Medusa suggested. "The toxin might kill them and we need to get Vexxer out of here." "Yes, and I need medical assistance," muttered QuadBod. Gold Star wanted to argue, but he was outvoted. "That's it?" "Yeah, looks like it. The rest of it is ads," Geoff said. "Was a hell of a fight Fortuna put up though." "Yeah... it was crazy though. I totally thought the CATS were gonna win." "Me too." The friends went to get snacks and play Comic Book Melee, chatting about their classes as they fought. Geoff took Midnight Fox as he usually did, while Trent used Gold Star. As usual, Trent won nearly every time.
13. We skipped a week for the third issue, watching as Tree of Woe declined in popularity. For the next week, the writers wanted a mismatched team against Vexxer Daemonchild, but I insisted on Big Chill and Miss Atomic after the writers required Raging Fire as the primary protagonist. The Nuclear Family was fair game for inclusion by Hank's standards since they weren't The Wonderfuls. *** "Princess Corral got jailed after the fight The Round Table lost. Merlin's magic sucked her back in along with the rest of the heroes so they didn't die. She's in the Camelot dungeon now." "Who cares?" Trent laughed at Geoff's shrug. "Yeah I figured you wouldn't care - you don't even like The Round Table because Midnight Fox isn't in it." "Yeah, yeah. It kinda sucked they didn't have something for us to read last week." "All good, though. They got a new one this week, and Vexxer Daemonchild is on the cover. Talking about how he's fresh off beating The Round Table." Geoff had seen the bragging quote on the cover and wondered what the purple-horned villain was up to now. He found out when he read the issue after a supper of TV dinner chicken nuggets and fries nuked in the microwave. The Nuclear Family easily outsmarted Vexxer Daemonchild, who was feeling cocky after his defeat of The Round Table, and got him to admit where Xtinction was located. But before Raging Fire, Miss Atomic, and Backlash - who'd joined the duo to give them a physically tough fighter - could track down their foe, they were suddenly stopped by Crippling Fear, Hisshi, and Major Graves at The Rigged Table, Boomtown's dive bar. "Heard you're hunting for Xtinction," Major Graves sneered. "We can't allow that." In response, Raging Fire let loose a searing ring of fire that burned Graves and Fear, sending them screaming and reeling. Backlash sent out a wave of energy that completed the knockout of the downed duo. Left alone, Hisshi attacked Backlash with her katana and bloodied him, but was counterpunched in return and dazed by Miss Atomic's followup energized punch. But the plucky assassin wasn't finished yet. Another member of her clan appeared and the nameless minion's throwing stars stunned each of the three heroes, Raging Fire in particular feeling the hurt. That bleeding made Raging Fire miss, but Miss Atomic relied on good old physical punching to knock out Hisshi. The nameless ninja fled, taking his master and Graves with him, leaving Chilling Fear to be arrested on assault charges. "So cool!" Miss Atomic grinned. While the group was recovering, the Agents of CATS showed up. "Heard you could use a hand to take down Xtinction," said Agent Fortuna, the group leader. "That we could," smiled Raging Fire. And so the three agents teamed up with Raging Fire, Miss Atomic, and Backlash, the six heroes returning to The Rigged Table after they heard Xtinction was hanging out there. The villains got the drop on the heroes, Xtinction joined by Anathema, Colonel Deft, High Velocity, and Le Rapide. Though they managed to wound Backlash considerably, Xtinction found himself quickly taken out of commission, as Agent Fortuna hit him with bad luck, and Miss Atomic and Raging Fire combined to finish him off. Miss Atomic was in trouble when the remaining opponents ganged up on her, but on the return, the heroes greatly weakened Anathema and Colonel Dent, which appeared to firmly turn the tide of the battle in their favor - especially thanks to Agent Fortuna's leadership and ability to curse their opponents. The team roared with anger when High Velocity slammed into Miss Atomic and knocked her unconscious. "You'll pay for that, you asshole!" screamed Raging Fire. But first, there were Anathema and Colonel Deft to take care of, which Raging Fire and Agent Spark quickly respectively did. Backlash fell, but Agent Fortuna turned her curses to High Velocity, and the tag team attack of fellow Agents Torrent and Spark were enough to knock the speedster out, leaving the Canadian villain Le Rapide as the last remaining. Although it took a considerable amount of time, Raging Fire finally took down the speedy Le Rapide. After the fight was finally over, Colonel Deft was jailed and Xtinction was committed to a maximum security mental health facility. Everyone else escaped. "Great three-parter," Geoff said out loud to himself. "Man, Agent Fortuna is so awesome! She's like, the best leader ever!"
14. So essentially you have Branch 1: Hero Loss -> Updated Hero -> Faction Split (Cause Updated Hero) -> Feud Branch 2: Hero Loss -> Updated Hero -> Faction Split (Cause Villain) -> Feud Branch 3: Villain Loss -> No Hero Change -> Faction Split (Cause Hero) -> Feud Branch 4: Villain Loss -> No Hero Change -> Faction Split (Cause Villain) -> Feud as your branching paths. Let's say you had two different paths you wanted the feud to take. Then you have Branch 1: Hero Loss -> Updated Hero -> Faction Split (Cause Updated Hero) -> Feud Outcome A Branch 2: Hero Loss -> Updated Hero -> Faction Split (Cause Villain) -> Feud -> Feud Outcome A Branch 3: Villain Loss -> No Hero Change -> Faction Split (Cause Hero) -> Feud -> Feud Outcome A Branch 4: Villain Loss -> No Hero Change -> Faction Split (Cause Villain) -> Feud - > Feud Outcome A Branch 5: Hero Loss -> Updated Hero -> Faction Split (Cause Updated Hero) -> Feud Outcome B Branch 6: Hero Loss -> Updated Hero -> Faction Split (Cause Villain) -> Feud -> Feud Outcome B Branch 7: Villain Loss -> No Hero Change -> Faction Split (Cause Hero) -> Feud -> Feud Outcome B Branch 8: Villain Loss -> No Hero Change -> Faction Split (Cause Villain) -> Feud - > Feud Outcome B With each split, you're multiplying your branches by the number of new options. Here, it's x2, but if you wanted to have say, 3 options, the branch would triple (x3)
15. So far the AI has tended to play cautiously since I've played it that way too. And I'm winning via turns - you're correct that it won't win the puzzles outright. It's too safe a strategy to do that. But all I care about is getting the benefit from winning - not the bonus from winning outright
