  1. This isn't exactly a hot take, but South Korea has some great movies. Parasite (obviously), Train to Busan, and Burning come to mind. All fantastic.

I've been doing a month of the service OnDemandKorea and have been watching some great Korean films all month. The one problem I've found with it is that some of the films don't have English subs, and just a Korean audio track, so I wasn't able to follow along. It also has 3 levels (Normal, Plus, Premium), so some titles are only available at certain levels.

Some definite recommendations from that service (that all have subtitles) for me:

Castaway on the Moon (2009), Sunny (2011), Silenced (2011), Han Gong-ju (2013), Masquerade (2012), A Bittersweet Life (2005), Miss Granny (2014), and The Beauty Inside (2015)

It also has Train To Busan (which I had already seen, so I didn't watch). I probably would've subbed for another month and taken it a bit slower if everything had subtitles, though. It was a great value to see all of those (and more) during my month of Premium, though.

  2. Can't really expect much from a creatively bankrupt company with a senile septuagenarian at the helm. From all accounts, if he doesn't understand how or why a worker has gotten over, he kills their push. See Zach Ryder, Rusev Day, CM Punk (attempted twice but failed), and so on. He's completely out of touch with that all-important 18-49 demographic which means the company is never going to get better until he's 6 feet under.

Not surprising. The quarterly financials are due fairly soon. Had to drop some (meaningless) numbers from the balance sheet. These releases just prove that WWE is a ship without a rudder. They split up the only really established tag team in the women's division.....to do what, exactly? Oh yeah, release them because you have no use for an ACTUAL tag team for a poorly booked division without a single one. Women's tag titles mean less than the 24/7 title (at least the 24/7 title is entertaining - and has gotten lots of mainstream attention). I hope Chelsea goes back to Impact and resurrects Laurel Van Ness. I think Mickie might be done. Her body has almost reached papier-mâché levels of brittleness by this point. Joe can go anywhere he wants (though I hope he does AEW and NJPW).

I feel for NBCUniversal. Everyone is trying to scarf up any and all content they can to pad their streaming service (while still being annihilated by Netflix and Disney+) so NBC grossly overpaid for WWE's content just to say they have it. That, in turn, makes WWE think that they're doing great.

WWE has been obsessed with breaking up tag teams just when they've been finding their stride in recent years.

Just to do a meaningless breakup feud that doesn't have much heat because the team wasn't around long enough for it to have as much heat as it should.

Or, worse, with a case like you mentioned with the Iiconics, just break them up for the hell of it with no apparent plan either member of the team.

  3. I have been wanting to check out the Invisible Man, but I have heard so many mixed reviews about it. It is one of those movies I keep on saying, "Well there is nothing else to watch, I might as well give that a try." Then I find myself looking for something better.

Looking at Crychon's list made me realize just how many movies I have not watched this year. I used to go to the movies at the very least once a week but for obvious reasons I stopped. Heck I am not sure if they ever reopened any theaters in my state.

I don't even recall the last movie I saw in a movie theater. It had to be something that came out in December of last year or January of this year. But I am drawing a blank.

The last movie I saw in theaters (I had a subscription service where I went 3 times a month, so I was going pretty often) was Onward. I saw it just after opening weekend, and haven't been able to go back since.

I've also been trying to seek out as many 2020 releases as I can, especially the these past few weeks, to fill in any gaps that I could.

  4. That is awesome. I will have to look at that platform for a project I am working on.

Haven't seen a lot of the movies there, and yes, BOP is an unpopular choice, but maybe it gets better on a second viewing.

I love Letterboxd and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes to keep track of anything movie related.

  5. I saw Wonder Woman 1984 yesterday and I was disappointed. The first one had been really good, so I did have high hopes for this one. But sadly, WW1984 was lacking something. I am not sure what, it was a long movie but it felt like it moved pretty good, so I would not say it was a pacing issue.

I just think it lacked a good story. The story was very weak. I had read online prior to watching it that it was bad. But I had also read it was a very woke/SJW type of movie and I personally did not see anything that could make it be considered that. There might be one scene dealing with a drunk and Kristen Wiig's character that might sort of lean that way, but I don't think it is the case.

Overall, I would say the movie was not good and honestly it was not really bad either. I would say it was sort of okay, but being closer to bad than good.

Yeah, I also thought it was ok. It was just lacking the action set pieces and fun group dynamic that the first one had. Didn't really like it, didn't hate it.

Soul, on the other hand, was another gem from Pixar, and finally dethroned The Invisible Man as my top film of the year. I doubt I'll see anything else before the end of the year that will shake up my top 5.

  7. Started watching The Umbrella Academy and Dark on Netflix. Both very different and both fantastic so far.

Dark is sooo good. I originally watched the first episode when it came out then got distracted by other stuff and never got further. Watched it all when the 2nd season came out. Really glad I did.

  8. You guys did a great job and I cant believe rabbitman got away.............on my most stressful night as town council

Yup, my bad. I think I pretty much 100% screwed up the game for the town. Between that and my choices for my ability that didn't seem to work out.

It didn't help that I was already feeling kind of anxious that day. To not only choose but completely screw it up means that I think I'll be out for at least a game at this point.

DJ can confirm that, we've been masoned together since Night 1 where someone put us together, which is in the write up here.....<p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> We've spent a lot of time talking and bouncing ideas off of each other in our group, but we haven't been seeing eye to eye on a lot of things. We trust very different people, we have different vibes on people we think are scummy and in general don't seem to be clicking at all. Some of this seems to be that both of us are being a little coy about our roles... so in the interests of providing some clarity for the list I'm about to post this is why I don't have DJ at the top of my list.</p><p> </p><p> ME: Derek B</p><p> STRONG TOWN: </p><p> TOWN: Crychon, Rabbitman, Too Sweet Spartan, </p><p> NEUTRAL: djthefunkchris, FellaLibby, Memory Of Talon, michgcs/Eliphas, </p><p> SCUM: Destiny, Leion, lukess11, Tha Black Phenom, </p><p> STRONG SCUM: </p><p> </p><p> I also have a bunch of notes on this. The first is that with two scum groups out there abd presumably each having 4 people on them to start with.... there should now be 2 groups of 3 scum, and 5 townies left. Which is an awful position to be in for this game and the catalyst for all of this because I feel like I have to do something or this game is going to come down to scum fighting scum as the last couple of townies fight for potential scraps. As one of the last town, I'm not doing that. I'm not going to live much longer anyway, that much I know.</p><p> </p><p> I see a few people who I think are grouped in some way.</p><p> </p><p> GROUP 1: Destiny, lukess11, Leion?,</p><p> </p><p> Their interactions feel odd to me, and they have been too linked when it comes to nominations and the like. The fact that they've all been setting me off with red flags combined with that, makes me think they are together. Destiny has given NOTHING so far, lukess11 ability seems to be less than ability that only does anbything when it suits him and Leion seems to be almost non existent in this game, only popping up to prop up MoT and use my own technique of fake outrage to try to flush out a protector after DeadCeleb died. </p><p> </p><p> I put Leion in this group but there is a chance he's in the second.</p><p> </p><p> GROUP 2: Tha Black Phenom, Memory Of Talon, Leion?</p><p> </p><p> The links here are less strong BUT I've been getting bad vibes from MoT for a long time, and part of that is because he seems to be buddying up to DJ and they share a lot of similar thoughts. When someone I think is scummy buddies up to someone else, that set off a lot o warning bells. Doing so publicly makes me think they aren't aligned.... and it's possible I'm getting the two of them back to front and it's DJ buddying up to MoT... but either way, I think one of them are scum. Not that we can do anything about those two today as both were on the previous council and are currently unlynchable.</p><p> </p><p> With that in mind.....</p><p> </p><p> <strong>VOTE: Leion</strong></p><p> </p><p> --------------------------</p><p> </p><p> There are some other questions and clarifications that could help clarify some things and perhaps move some names around.</p><p> </p><p> @Rabbitman: Can you clarify EXACTLY what your ability did? Your phrasing was vague... was everyone (including you) protected at the party? Were the roleblocked? What would have happened if anyone else tried to get into the party? Were people untargetable? Please ask IER for clarification as it may make me feel better about FellaLibby, who I've had a town lean for for a while, but that others are saying is guaranteed for no obvious reason that I can see.</p><p> </p><p> @everyone: We need your collective scum reads. Who do you trust? Who do you not? Why?</p><p> </p><p> @everyone: For the love of god, don't drop nominations yet! We need to be extra careful with who we put in there particulary now that we have so few town left. We're more likely than not to have a council led by scum.... and if things carry on as they have we're going to have 8 players left for the next day phase so wont even be able to get a council in. The recklessness of voting in someone so quickly is another reason that I'm so against Destiny and lukess11. Especially with lukess saying on Day 3 that if he had a kill he'd kill Destiny... it reeks of scum trying to distance themselves at first, then saying to just go for it.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> As much as it pains me, with how many scum I believe there are in this game, there has to be scum in the town side of your list. </p><p> </p><p> I know I've not put all my cards on the table yet, but somehow I'm still alive and I'm going to play out what's left of my hand through this phase as I'm going to be around for a good chunk of it before having to work again.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Seeing as how you mentioned it and outed yourself, I may as well confirm that I was the third person in that writeup.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Destiny" data-cite="Destiny" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46676" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Crychon, you're still alive right? I didn't have time to post at work. Also, I don't have anyone to talk to.</p>
  14. Yeah, I read the write up, and see them having a party. In fact, I was thinking to myself when Crychon was trying to make up his mind, that with our luck both are town (Rabbit and Zergon). I've always felt Libby was town.

I do think (more than 87%) Derek is town (and by default another). I do NOT think that makes Destiny scum. I felt like he was role hunting before Derek did. You are the only reason I don't think Destiny is scum at this point.

Feelings mutual on that last part. I feel you could do the same to me easily. Very worried my trust in you is making me look in different directions that I would normally.

Yeah, at this point I think I would've ended up unhappy no matter who I chose. I will say that at least the writeup made Zergon look a little shady. He might have been town, but I think there was more to it than that.

  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Memory of Talon" data-cite="Memory of Talon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46676" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>N2, if rabbitman did target me, the writeup shows for what ever reason the mailman decided "Guess they don’t need this anymore…" and "He turns and walks back the way he came."<p> </p><p> I had sort of thought that something was delivered to someone who died, and that's the reason the mailman turned around. So this makes me wonder if there's a bus driver, or a redirector at play.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah, that was the fishy thing I was talking about. That's how I read that as well.</p>
