  1. Melina was not allowed in the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California when she arrived with her real-life boyfriend John Morrison last night. The office wasn't happy about her being backstage at house shows this weekend but things aren't as strict when Vince McMahon is not there.

The reasons why WWE didn't want Melina backstage at Raw are obvious and one can only speculate the overflow of heat this will place on John Morrison. It's worth noting he went under clean to R-Truth on last night's show.

Haha, well done Johnny. Weeeelll doooone.

  2. Ok so this channel NWONITRO on youtube has like a 29 (or more ) video series on Jericho's rise in WCW. I think it's 1 or 2 segments per video.

    Remeber the times...

    I am 3-0 against Goldberg!!

Candyman, it makes people look weak if they dominate 15 minutes and can't win only to lose in 5. It negates all of the work they did if they lose that easily.

    Well... responding below

It isn't. It makes a guy look weak when he can't put someone away despite beating on them for 15-20 minutes with everything he has, and then when the other guy fires back, it only takes him a couple of quick moves to score the win. What I don't understand is why such a rather obvious concept is beyond some people. Not all people, because with some it's easy to understand.

I'll tell you why it's beyond some people: because it doesn't happen all that much as you guys bluntly put it. The only main time where it's been a staggering case of the Superman revival was at SummerSlam last year. And okay yeah, I'm pretty sure there's been two or three times more of that stuff. But the sea of contests Cena's been in where there's been an actual struggle and fair contest tells more of the tale than what we're going on about.

So yeah, maybe not everyone Candyman was talking about, but there has been some cases where Cena makes his opponent better not by supermanning in the last seven minutes of the match. I know for a fact Miz going toe-to-toe with Orton and Cena during his reign helped elevate his status and workrate, alongside his effort onto getting himself over with his gimmick. It was also the bookers who were the ones who didn't feel like fully pulling the trigger on Sheamus during his first reign.

What "rut" would that be? I'm not trying to start an argument but since this Punk angle happened ratings have gone DOWN, the buyrate for Money in the bank is up "20 percent" from last year. Thats great but up twenty percent in buys means it did the same numbers as Extreme Rules did this year. Which means that Punk's angle hasn't a single thing that John Cena and The Miz weren't already doing.

Sometimes what we view as a rut is actually just sound business.

I realize you're always bringing it back to the business aspect of how an angle's doing in terms of ratings/buyrates/etc. Which sure, I can concede, but it isn't like anyone's said the opposite either. See I believe when Arrows is talking about "rut", he's talking about the same thing Punk actually touched on last week, and that's WWE staying in the same status quo it's been in forever. Cena getting 1000 title shot opportunities because of who he is and what he brings to the table, etc. Though that was more of an in-business remark comment from Punk, what Arrows said remains somewhat in the same area.

This isn't a whole lot about the ratings, about whether people are tuning in or not. Sure, that's the industry's optimal goal but we're rather looking at the things it's doing/may be doing. Punk selling shirts at an alarming rate, both Punk and Cena inherently touching on Internet-related matters, the change in atmosphere some may feel because of HHH's presence as a fresh on-screen boss amidst all of this, etc. Will it lead to 5.0 ratings, maybe not but it's gonna lead somewhere and the point simply was many feel that if Cena wins and Punk goes back to where he was at, the status quo will remain the same.

  3. I don't get why people liked Batista/Cena.

Batista whined and cried and complained week in and week out because he couldn't beat some pathetic chump. It made Batista look like a complete loser, and ruined any credibility he had.

Yet he was more entertaining than most, if not all of his face run. Maybe it was the fact it seemed very fresh, or the fact he just seemed more natural as a heel, and looked like he wanted to be one for a long time.

  4. Do new Cena shirts completely sell out from day 1 pre-orders? Because CM Punk's shirt did. I ordered mine within hours of it going up and now that it's actually been released, it's already on back order and my order has not shipped.

uggggh I knew I shouldn't have waited... it better be available by next month, a live Raw show's coming to town.

Cena's probably aren't selling that fast, but just at a high consistent rate. Punk was sort of an overnight phenomenon or something. Yeah, maybe months down the line they'll have a slight window open to barely consider to do something with Cena. I remember in 08 when Jeff Hardy was pushed as the new top face, I was getting hopeful. And then...

  5. Well nabbing on the details of a match that has yet to happen for months to come isn't for me anymore. That's why I don't like to think about things like that, who "has" to win and "how" it has to go down. I've gotten way past that point and allows me to enjoy the product better.

If you had to channel my smarkish side though, I'd say.. it would be logical for Cena to win, but it doesn't mean he has to. There can be a lot of factors around it, is The Rock gonna be down for a rematch, is he gonna be inducted into the HoF at WM28, the creative team's stance on a potential Cena heel turn then(I'm pretty sure they're getting slightly but very slightly more open to the idea as years go by), etc. If there's any match I'd keep my mind open on, it's this one.

  6. Considering it's Punk/Cena in a title vs. title match as the main event of Summerslam, which should have been more than just obvious given the ending of Raw, we're not getting any more WWE title changes until then. Rey was just the guy picked to keep the belt warm for two hours so Cena could get it back and they could set up the main event of Summerslam.

Even if they 'had to' bring Punk back, either because you felt he was hot and they had to keep the momentum going or you think the casual fan has the attention span of a flea and would forget all about him if he was off TV for more than a week, there are dozens of ways you can have Punk be part of Raw and not have it be as a member of the roster. Part of what made the angle special was Punk being the rebel, both with his words and actions, who didn't want to be on Raw, even as WWE Champion, and it's hard to portray that now that Punk is 'back in the fold'. It wouldn't have hurt to stick with Cena/ADR as the Summerslam main event and run angles leading toward Summerslam with Punk gatecrashing Raw or kicking up a fuss in some fashion and maintain the rebel part of the character for a while longer. Now, he's back to being a wrestler for WWE and there are lot of aspects of the character you've lost and can't make use of that would have made for great TV.

But there are always other aspects that can be gained. Punk will surely have his words to say next week, saying why he's back, what he intends to do, etc. And if Triple H gets into the fray, he can still pull off the rebel aura, only this time inside WWE doors, which sure sounds less riveting than what this potentially could've been, but if it's pulled off well, win/win and the angle overall will still look exquisite once it's a done deal.

  7. Think the Cena/Punk thing is good, but def. did it too quick. Two title matches on one show when you usually get none for six months? Would have liked to see them build Cena/Rey for the PPV then have Punk return then for the feud. Now it is just panifully clear Rey was just used as a tiny pebble of a stone for the main feud to take over. Also really diminishes their 8 man tourney they had been hyping. "Hey win this EPIC tournament its the biggest thing ever! Oh yeah, then when you do we are just going to job you out to Cena since we don't want you in our main storyline anyways"

Cena/Rey would've just been a passover main-event, when they're trying to go big for SummerSlam. I agree the way Cena got his title shot was so dodgy, but it was the only way for this to come full circle.

People all over literally said before MITB, WWE would be fools not to strike a deal with Punk and keep him around. They ended up doing just that. But people still are restless. WWE truly can never win... even when they're gaining steam. :p

  8. Wish they hAd kept punk off screen a bit longer...not real impressed with the followup to Chicago so far...

On a side note, that is a badass new entrance for punk!

Yeah, just cause our imaginations started running wild after the event, thinking of the myriad of ways this can be exploited, and now he's back... but the fact is, that is what we wanted before MITB. I'm glad either way, the man's doing himself right now and he might still leave after the encounter, ensuring a similar effect.

  9. It's a bit premature to say either way but I think it will stand the test of time. You have the IWC imploding with positive reviews, the angle was so hot it resulted in sold-out CM Punk merchandise, the crowd was compared by many to a rabid ECW crowd which as it strangely sounds, is a bonafide feat. It's one of the few matches in history you could say no one truly knew who was gonna win. Even here, the match left several posters feeling surreal like if they truly witnessed a spectacle. To say this kind of stuff happens two or three times a year which is pretty much how often those ****1/2 bouts come by is pushing it, at least to my eyes.

The match will probably sweep a bunch of WON awards as well. MOTY, PPV of the year, angle of the year, etc I see all gearing towards this.

  10. Regards that spoiler:

Yea, the same thing has happend once before and we saw how it worked out then.

Yeah... with an injury. Again, we only see things this way now because Bryan hasn't been built up yet. In three months, when he starts to look legit against the top stars, opinions may differ. People also said Miz and RVD would lose the briefcase.

There were several atleast partially blown spots. I'm not one that gets into things like this but there were for sure some awkward moments in this one and some bad landings and some blown spots. I'm not trying to be 'that guy" but lets not get TOO caught up in the hype. This was the best pro wrestling match I've seen in a long long long long time but it wasn't five stars. Four and a half? Sure I'll go there but five stars is perfect and this wasn't perfect.

I loved it and it was great but there were several moments that took me out of it atleast briefly. Every match has them I'm not saying it was bad or it was anyone's fault.

It's not just the match that's taken into account. It's everything. The angle leading to it, the effort put into it all. The crowd reaction is an important factor. Safe to say the angle provided some of the best TV the past few years had to offer. It all culminated with a match hosting a red-hot crowd, the match being given a succulent amount of time, all to end with a relatively clean finish, which is already iconic enough to have Cena pinned clean :p

It deserves it, IMO. You know which matches got four and a half stars? HHH/Taker at Mania 27. And a bunch of noteworthy matches in the past few years that stood out, but not that much. Stuff like the triple threat at WMXX, Orton/Foley at Backlash, HBK/Shelton on Raw and more. HBK vs. Angle at WM21 almost made it. But when you look at it on an overall perspective, Punk vs. Cena ****s on all of them.

  11. A quadruple main-event takes a sliver of grandeur away from each of the matches simultaneously. Not to mention it's slightly(but not too much) farfetched that two people among Austin, Rock, Taker and Trips would challenge for a title at this point in their careers.. I would bet on one of them at the most but they all seem at "that" point.

Nevermind the fact that Cena "earning" his spot to have that choice seems weird already, but having Cena choose The Rock over a title match would have to mean he'd have to start painting himself in the same light legends do, with the whole "I've done everything there is to do" mentality. 'Till now he's still a hungry title rogue.

Unless Rocky screws him over in a title match, but then it becomes all redundant because the match-up makes [well, maintains] itself.

  12. Haha! Damn! I am taken aback in so many ways, masterful PPV. Have a hard time settling down...

But on a side note, I don't think Bryan will cash in and fail. Fact of the matter is, the main-event spotlight needs new babyfaces, other than Cena, Orton, Rey and Kane. Only reason you see him failing now is because he hasn't been built up yet. Just like people saw The Miz losing because he's been dwarfed on a few occasions(while still climbing the figurative ladder.. no pun intended).

The rest of the year may be magical, with the building up of DB all the way to the fallout of the WWE title situation... and soon as next year comes in, we're gonna go overdrive with The Rock/Cena hype towards Mania. Good time to be a fan, I feel.

Honestly, I'm grown weary of the upper-midcard scenes on both brands crammed with up-and-coming ****y coward heels, who seem they have to rely on Cena/Orton/Rey and al just to get by. (Then you have the older folk like Truth and Christian turning heel.. which doesn't help) They have to pull the trigger on some babyface at some point, and if it's not gonna be John Morrison or Kofi Kingston, well...</p>
  14. As Miz (and Seth Meyers) would say... really? You're going to go all the way with that? Really?

    Really?

The WWE can't just build Punk up like this and let him go. With the momentum he has and the buzz he's been generating, Punk could conceivably become the next Rock/Hogan/Austin-type "face of the industry" kind of guy.

It just looks like this is a case of optimism vs. pessimism in terms of the WWE capitalizing on this and how. Whatever the case, IWC is suggesting all the possible outcomes in the book left and right, which may cheapen the end result if it's one of the original ones... but heck that's what we do I suppose. Personally, I just can't wait for the conclusion however it's gonna be.

I love Punk to bits as well but I actually dare think it wouldn't be the worst thing if he leaves for a period of time. Momentum's hot on him, there's a chance it might stick until he returns. Could be hard to envision, but IMO it's possible depending on how the WWE situates itself once he's gone. Dividends will be paid once he returns. But I'd think Vince would've even offered him a Taker-time off kind of deal, at least I would've.

  15. and, I've spent at minimum of a thousand dollars on TNA in the last few years. So yeah, I've supported them with my money.

Then technically, it shouldn't bug you if you look at it this way. You know you've invested and supported the company in different areas; there's a chance Aries just said that to rile up the fans who literally haven't supported TNA in squat - and just flawlessly tune in month in and month out without giving a dime. I'm sure everyone knows there are different profits other than PPVs. Then again, that may be still of a buggy thought for those who've been fairly unfortunate financally for ages, but eh..
