  1. So, what's the deal with roster sizes? I got a warning in my TCW game after a show that I had too few people on my active roster. It said, I think, I had 31 and needs 32, yet I have 34. The next day, in the middle of a week, I suddenly fell to Cult, sort of ruining my game. When will a worker show up in the "ideal roster" window and yet not count? Also, what can make a company's importance level change during a week, unrelated to a show? Does the roster thing cause daily decay? I usually have massively bloated rosters and 34 is the smallest I've ever had in my TCW game (I had recent opened a dev company...) I'm kind of miffed at this whole thing.
  2. In my game, Ricky isn't a negative influence. I hope I can convince them to stop hating each other, but I can afford to let one of them go if I have to. In other news, I'm really tempted to put Edd Stone, Eddie Chandler, and Eddie Peak together as "Ed, Edd, and Eddie".
  3. I hired Ricky DeColt in TCW. A few shows in, Nate Johnson politicked ELEVEN people to have simmering tensions with Ricky. This will be fun to fix. Also, I brought in "Bulldozer" Brandon Smith, named him Dozer Smith, and paired him up as Jay Chord's enforcer. I set him as Chord's manager and they have Awesome chemistry.
  4. So, is there any requirement for larger companies to have multiple referees/road agents or B-level broadcast teams, or is that just a realism thing?
  5. My Royal Rumble PPV is Last Man Standing. I make Elimination like Survivor Series, Luck of the Draw has "random" stipulations or match-ups, Chaos in the Cage usually has several cage matches, in the Company of Legends has a tournament, and Chamber of Horrors has an Elimination Chamber style match.
  6. I mean, they were also quite popular. (Chandler, especially.) I'm in the process of getting Ricky, Gargantuan, Price, Thrill Seeker, and Dunn under writtens, just in case. I mean, if you want to be realistic, dropping him for no reason vacates the Canadian title and that doesn't seem right, but I just don't see him having much of a future for me.
  7. To go with the other promotion threads, I figured I'd start a CGC discussion/guide thread. If you have CGC related questions or reactions, this would be as good a place as any to put them. Starting Circumstances To start, I want to say "Wow...". CGC is in a bad way. To those who haven't looked yet or who aren't familiar with CGC, CGC used to be owned by George DeColt, an old school guy, and the company was built around the three, active DeColt sons: Alex, Jack, and Ricky. They were kind of like the Von Erichs in real life in that they're brothers, popular, and talented. They were all generally booked like John Cena in that they'd always overcome the odds and come out on top. George eventually retired and Alex took over ownership. The company was left in really good shape. While NOTBPW was a bigger company, it was more of a traditional, ring-work oriented promotion and CGC was sports-entertainment with lots of charismatic workers AND in-ring talent. However, since TEW 2013's database, everything kind of fell apart. Alex has been gradually going crazy from the pressure and responsibility of running the promotion and this has led to bad decisions and arguments with his employees. Many of the biggest talents have moved on to other promotions, including young star Trent Shaffer, veteran Eddie Chandler, ring general Shooter Sean Deeley, and Nate Johnson, who was caught having an affair with Jack DeColt's wife (both ran away from the company). Alex himself has also retired from in-ring competition to focus on running the company. This has left the company smaller, with less momentum, and with fewer tools for building the brand. Also, most workers are now under pay-per-appearance contracts to start, which puts them at risk of being poached by rivals. Advice/Comments Having played with CGC in the demo, here are some things I can say that might help stop the bleeding: Lock down everybody you know you want with a written deal. CGC are still Cult (the smallest size that can do written deals) and can't afford to lose Ricky DeColt (Jack is already under a written), or most of the other main-eventers. CGC starts with a lot of untalented hosses. If you're a fan of big, menacing guys who are terrible in the ring, hang onto them, but I dumped guys like Prometheus and Blockbuster right away. Gargantuan is also very poor in the ring, and a bad locker room influence, but he's popular and is decent enough to be carried, so I hold onto him. Jack DeColt starts as CGC's figurehead. This means you're probably going to want to keep him at the top of the card. He's a fairly good figurehead, but he's 38 and might start declining at any time. Ricky is talented and young, so you should perhaps get him into position to take over when Jack can't carry the company anymore. At C- popularity across Canada, you shouldn't have too much difficulty at least maintaining popularity. I know I got an A segment out of Jack making a revenge attack on Gargantuan and a main event scene with crowd investment can carry the rest of the product. However, don't immediately completely overhaul the roster with new unknowns. Leverage the popularity of the older/less talented roster members to get new acqusitions over before dumping them. CGC can get a deal to upgrade their event coverage from U-Demand Canada to Pay-Per-View Services at the start, which is probably a good idea. Hire Sayeed Ali. So... That's my initial take on CGC. If anybody has advice or comments, feel free to have your say.
  8. I ended up having to release Gargantuan in my main CGC game in 2013 because I got incidents with him twice a month and couldn't get him to stop being a jerk (and he didn't seem to have very good progression or destiny to make it worth it). I feel the same way about Thrill Seeker. He was floating around my mid/upper-midcard and not doing much of anything. He'd be in a throw-away tag team for a while, and then I'd give him a manager, and then I'd take the manager away... He was like the last couple WWE runs of RVD. In the demo, I think I like Heel Main Event Thrill Seeker. I really mourn the loss of Trent Shaffer and Shooter Sean Deeley, though. Also, my trick of putting Rajah and Grandmaster Phunk together as Hustle Inc. didn't pan out because of bad chemistry.
  9. I'm going to be streaming the new Civilization: Beyond Earth at about 8:45PM EST if anyone is interested in watching. http://www.twitch.tv/mjdgoldeneye/
  10. As an example, one year, when he was still relevant, the draft client didn't list Ronnie Brown. Nobody thought about him, so we did an entire draft where he wasn't taken. We had to play a year in an alternate universe where he didn't exist. It was a hilarious, depressing bug.
  11. It'd also be nice if they explained the "non-snaking in the keeper rounds" thing in the first place, too. A lot of people seem to not like Yahoo (and nobody has ever explained to me why... not that they owe me that, but I'd like to know), but, honestly, they're the only drafting site that's both fully-customizable and not occasionally hit by either a season-crippling bug or scary, unintuitive, status that makes you fear the rare season-crippling bug may be imminent.
  12. I'm not sure if there's a way to start the draft, partially process it, and THEN reset, in the event that it DOESN'T reshuffle, though, so I understand not wanting to chance it.
  13. No need to complain. Some quick googling came up with this. The relevant part: So, the draft behavior was correct and unavoidable in a keeper league. If it showed ALL rounds as non-snaking, it would probably reshuffle after the keeper rounds. It's probably a limitation of the draft client that makes it that way.

The game has a lot of detailed mechanics and the mods mix a lot of that up.</p><p> </p><p> I'd also recommend starting as either a duke in Ireland or the King of Poland at an early starting year. You have room to grow without a lot of opposition and you're not forced to have to deal with a ton of things as you get used to the game.</p>
  15. <p>I skimmed, like, the last 2 pages and I want to buy a bunch of games now. You guys suck. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Also, I'd quickly like to recommend Banished. If you've heard about it, it's not as brutal as people say it is. If you haven't heard of it, it's a game where you start with a handful of villagers and have to keep them alive by building the necessary infrastructure. You need to build homes, manipulate food sources, assign woodcutters to create firewood, educate young people so they aren't bad workers, build taverns and churches so they don't get depressed, and so on. If you mess up, it'll usually cascade to the point of the village being wiped out, but that's part of the fun! <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> ($20 on Steam)</p><p> </p><p> I can also recommend and second the recommendations for all of these games:</p><p> </p><p> </p><ul><li>Crusader Kings II (Game of Thrones and Elder Scrolls mods are good too!)<br /></li><li>Shadowrun Returns (Great tabletop-style RPG with very good workshop content to extend the game's lifespan.)<br /></li><li>Hearthstone (Free to play and not in an annoying way. It's a virtual card game by Blizzard.)<br /></li><li>FTL<br /></li><li>Europa Universalis IV (Similar to Crusader Kings II.)<br /></li></ul><p></p>
