  1. Haven't checked the data yet to confirm, and maybe it's already been fixed and I'm just way out of date... ... but the 53 Pedro Ortiz just gave birth. Seeing as how its 1997, I felt OK assuming his gender here.
  2. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="louis1016" data-cite="louis1016" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41928" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Any chance you would release a beta version of the mod? I'm not sure how far into the future you've finished modifying the workers but the reality is chances are most players arent even going to hit 10 years.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The problem is, there's really no way to sort wrestlers by "time of debut". And honestly, it's a goal I personally absolutely want to achieve before I make any sort of official release. Not only that, but releasing it now would probably hurt my motivation to truly "finish" the mod in the future. When I'm this close... eh, best not to chance it.</p><p> </p><p> I'll consider a "beta" release some time after all the workers have been given at least the most minor amount of love, though in truth there won't be too much else left to do at that point. A few other things absolutely still need to be cleaned up, but nothing major.</p><p> </p><p> Though I suppose I can release a "beta version" for everyone after that, and see if we can't find anything obviously broken. And I <em>suppose</em> I can use that time to focus more on some of the "fun" stuff I want to get into the mod. Various silly narratives and the like, of which I have for too many.</p>
  3. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="moafnsteel" data-cite="moafnsteel" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41928" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Just checking in to see if there has been any updates or progress, I am super excited for this mod. I would offer to help but I do not know C-Verse that well and I cannot make graphics worth a darn.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Hey! Life has been hectic since the whole, you know, house fire thing.</p><p> </p><p> But yes, it's still coming along. With the worst in the past, right now I'm throwing myself back into it this and will, gods willing, be done in the not so distant future. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I'm still in the process of my "final walk-through" of cleaning up every, single worker in the database by making sure they have default gimmicks, body sizes/types, are located in proper locations, and that nothing is obviously "broken" about them. At the same time, I'm currently experimenting with using narratives and alter egos still to try and "replicate" some worker's transitions from one character to another between iterations of TEW. For example, having E.Z. Ryder become primarily known as Wiley Steinway at the appropriate time, and having Harmon Girard be widely known still as Fortius Minimus. But, at least for initial release, this will be kept to a minimum as it's both time consuming and it's probably best to keep pre-determination a little limited. </p><p> </p><p> With that said, I'll be damned if I can't have Fortius Minimus running around.</p>
  4. <p>Time keeps chugging along in NYCW, now into the year 2020, and boy are we a different company than when I started. What was once a Small company only holding a show once a month, NYCW has now expanded to holding weekly televised events on East Coast Today (along with our monthly events on the same network). Let's take a look at the roster as we work through this most recent decade:</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Main Event</span></strong></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Ernest Youngman</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Logan Wolfsbaine</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> Man Mountain Cahill</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Rayne Man</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Scythe</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> Texas Pete</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">The Silencer</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Upper Midcard</span></strong></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">BB Colossus</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Connor Threepwood</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> Crockett Tubbs</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Dean Waldorf</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> Marv Statler</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Tennessee William</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> Xavi Ferrara</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Midcard</span></strong></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Andrew Harper</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> </span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Brutus Milano</span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> Devastating Don</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Geoff Borne</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Howlin' Mad Mort</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Julius Moor</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> Riley McManus</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> Steel</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> The New York Doll</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Whitehorse Whittaker</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Lower Midcard</span></strong></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Ace Youngblood</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">George Wolfe</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Joffy Laine</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Philippe LaGrenier</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Roderick Remus</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Opener</span></strong></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Hawkeye Calhoun</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Jules Night</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> T-Bone Bright</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Enhancement Talent</span></strong></p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Annihilus</span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Bradley Blaze</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Non-Wrestlers</span></strong></p><p> Cheerleader Nicki (Manager: The Ring Generals)</p><p> Duke Hazzard (Manager: The Boys From The Yukon)</p><p> Ed Monton (Owner/Road Agent)</p><p> Ernie Turner (Colour Commentator)</p><p> Fern Hathaway (Personality)</p><p> Jez McArthur (Referee)</p><p> Karen Killer (Manager: Soldiers of Darkness)</p><p> Rock Downpour (Announcer)</p><p> Steve Flash (Road Agent/Head Booker)</p><p> Venus Angeletti (Manager: Rayne Man)</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Tag Teams</span></strong></p><p> Borne To Riot (Geoff Borne & The New York Doll)</p><p> Night-Laine (Jules Night & Joffy Laine)</p><p> Soldiers of Darkness (Scythe & BB Colossus)</p><p> The Boys From The Yukon (Howlin' Mad Mort & Whitehorse Whittaker)</p><p> The Bronx Brawlers (Brutus Milano & Devastating Don)</p><p> The Fighting Irish (Connor Threepwood & Crockett Tubbs)</p><p> The Killers (Texas Pete & Man Mountain Cahill)</p><p> The Next Big Things (Xavi Ferrara & Steel)</p><p> The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler)</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Titles:</span></strong></p><p> <em>NYCW Empire:</em> Ernest Youngman</p><p> <em>NYCW Tri-State Regional: </em>Tennessee William</p><p> <em>NYCW Tag Team: </em>Soldiers of Darkness</p><p> <em>NYCW Sam Keith Classic</em> (latest winners): The Fighting Irish</p><p> <em>NYCW Rip Chord Invitational</em> (latest winners): Rayne Man</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <em>Current Storylines:</em></p><p> </p><ul><li>A self-proclaimed "purist", Ernest Youngman, is the reigning NYCW Empire champion, having defeated Rayne Man for the belt in hotly contested fashion. Youngman denies he cheats or uses any underhanded tactics outside of matches, but it sure looked like his feet were on the ropes when he pinned Rayne Man for the title... Youngman is now doing whatever he can to avoid battling Rayne Man one on one, though maintaining he's a true "fighting champion". To make matters worse, denying his dubious tactics hasn't been enough to dissuade NYCW's own self-appointed vigilante, The Silencer, from putting Youngman in his crosshairs. Youngman has managed to try and play both challengers off of each other, and in a recent defense managed to defeat The Silencer in a cage match... though only after The Silencer was mysterious attacked and injured, and even then Youngman utilized a weapon to aid in his victory (which, he'll remind you, is perfectly legally in a cage match). Meanwhile, Rayne Man is still making his case that he's the top contender for the title, and The Silencer is never easily dissuaded...<br /></li><li>Xavi Ferrara and Logan Wolfsbaine, both recent NYCW Tri-State champions, have been running an old fashion blood feud, looking to one up each other at every opportunity. What started off as a simple friendly competition for the Tri-State title, then held by Ferrara, turned ugly when Wolfsbaine didn't take kindly to Xavi's bragging. Logan has since been on the warpath, looking to hurt and humiliate Ferrara at every turn, even viciously attacking and "injuring" his long time friend/partner, Steel. Steel has since recovered and is working to try and keep Xavi safe from Wolfsbaine's dangerous wrestling techniques, outnumbering the cold-hearted technical wizard. Xavi recently scored a spiteful victory, looking for revenge for (yet another) attack on Steel to try and "even the odds". Xavi didn't get a piece of him, but the distraction cost Logan Wolfsbaine the Tri-State title to Tennessee William in what many expect to be nothing more than a routine defense. It looks like Logan will find a real equalizer if he doesn't want Ferrara to ever truly get revenge...<br /></li><li>Tennessee Williams is the NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW NYCW Tri-State Regional champion, having shocked audiences when he pinned Logan Wolfsbaine on an episode of NYCW Slam Masters! Williams is, so far, just enjoying his first taste of singles gold in NYCW and is awaiting a match with the man who won a fatal four way for contendership to the title, Howlin' Mad Mort.<br /></li><li>Making their debut midway through 2019, the Soldiers of Darkness have already made an everlasting mark on NYCW. Lead by Karen Killer, BB Colossus and Scythe have demonstrated a combination of power, intensity, and *pure evil* neither seen nor heard in NYCW before. They emerged victorious over Borne To Riot after an ugly feud with the rights to challenge The Fighting Irish for the NYCW Tag Team titles. Despite their years of experience together, Tubbs and Threepwood were unable to stop the dark rampage of their opponents and lost their beloved Tag Team titles. The Irish are fighting to take them back, but so far they too have been unable to overcome the shadow now starting to loom over NYCW...<br /></li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <em>Interesting Notes:</em></p><p> </p><ul><li>Bulldozer Brandon Smith, having been SHOCKINGLY revealed to have been the masked American Patriot all along, has left us for BHOTWG only a few months before we secured our TV deal. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors as he was a huge star when we had next to none. Thankfully, more than a few have risen to fill the void he left.<br /></li><li>Animal Harker also bailed for Burning Hammer around the same time. Have to say, my Main Event scene hadn't taken a hit like that in a long time.<br /></li><li>Larry Vessey has left the business, and NYCW have been purchased by Ed Monton. Ed, who already failed as owner of MAW, tried to turn NYCW into a "performance" based company... but I shut that down right quick.<br /></li><li>Annihilus, a very recent signing after we hit Cult, is currently lingering down at the bottom of the card. He's recently bulked up to Giant status, and naturally a man of his incredible and unparalleled talents shouldn't remain down there for long.<br /></li><li>As promised, I brought in a healthy number of ex-MAW guys as the roster spots opened. Most of them are still finding their place in NYCW, but I've got high hopes that most of them will one day at least be a regular part of their midcard (Remus could probably be a big star, even as a flier, given his incredible talent). <br /></li><li>Even if he wasn't ex-MAW, George Wolfe got to jump to the start of the line the moment his dad purchased the company. No complaints, he's the kind of powerful brawler I always love having on my roster.<br /></li><li>Rayne Man has been a YUUUUUUUUUGE success story for me, as mentioned last time. Just feel like he's warranted another shout out, him and Youngman have really become the backbone of the roster. He had a nice, long reign earlier with the NYCW Empire title and I knew for about a year's worth of booking that he would be the next man to win the Rip Chord Invitational. <br /></li><li>I really didn't anticipate Scythe and BB Colossus getting <strong>this</strong> over <strong>this quickly</strong>. I've honestly tried to slow them down, but at this point I give up. Scythe (who I thankfully found a great re-render for) is destined for superstardom with us; he's a big guy with huge menace, the highest SQ in the company, and is even one of our best in-ring guys. Why SWF didn't hang on to him for forever and why he was allowed to wander around the independent scene I'll never know, but he's mine now. BB's been a little slower going, but seeing as how he's the C-Verse's very own "Big Vis", I absolutely had to bring him aboard. Naturally, with my touch he's also rocketing to stardom with us. I've temporarily set the Tag Team titles to Floating while I figure out how to adapt to their meteoric rise and can safely drop the belts back down to my stellar tag division.<br /></li><li>I'm glad with the growing company I'm finally able to give love to some of the guys who lingered towards the bottom for so long. Brutus Milano for example has really developed into a solid talent that can be relied upon in the midcard, and is getting more and more wins every day. Also he has great chemistry against Steel, and it's wonderful to see such great grades in matches between a couple of steroid-infused Comradebotasaurs.<br /></li><li>Steel is also awesome. Just want to say that.<br /></li><li>In my most *un*-Comradebot move, I have to say that Jules Night has been a really fun project. He's undersized, lacks all forms of charisma, and can't even work most gimmick particularly well. Still, as a Lightweight non-flier, he's got that underdog charm to him that I can't quite resist... so he's getting his shot. I've started team him with Joffy Laine, with Joffy playing a Simpleton gimmick and Night with (a Legendary rated!) Ice Man gimmick for some opening card fun time. The constant time with Joffy has done Jules a world of favors, as he's now up to a D- in Charisma. Considering he once had like an F or F+ and after every show veterans were telling me to give up on him because he can't connect with audiences, it's quite the improvement. I'd like to think one day he could develop into the lovable, goofy underdog babyface that loses a valiant effort to Annihilus.<br /></li><li>Tennessee William just refuses to ever be a main eventer. I've tried and I've booked... and he briefly got into their. Then Scythe and BB Colossus both surpassed him, then Logan Wolfsbaine. Really thought he could be another top level face for me, but it'd appear it's just not quite in him. All well, he's still a valuable member of the roster who can dominate my midcard about as long as he'd like.<br /></li><li>Money is tight after hitting Cult with the Industry and Economy both low (but rising). Thankfully I had a couple million saved up and it looks like the bleeding is slowing, even with me finally raising production values to prevent myself from losing my TV deal.<br /></li><li><strong><em>But the most important news of all...</em></strong> is that Man Mountain Cahill has just turned 49 years old. And guys... he's still not in decline. <em>He's still not in decline!!!</em> Sadly, the aforementioned financial strain means he's not currently involved in any major stories and is just making sporadic appearances to remind everyone what a bad-ass he is, but... but maybe I should start working towards him getting another NYCW Empire title run. I mean, how often do we get to see successful main event title runs out of a 50 year old?<br /></li></ul><p></p>

I love Annihilus (obviously) and wouldn't mind giving him a snazzy new render.</p>
  6. <p>Can't finding anything via search, figured I'd ask here.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> So I just ran my first show with a company I made in the 1997 C-Verse. Despite being an E- in the region I held it (Eastern Europe) and having a C rated show, I didn't gain any popularity from it. Anyone have any idea how that happened?</p><p> </p><p> Obviously it's not a B show, and while the industry is on the lower side of things (E+) I don't think that's stopped me in the past from getting at least *some* popularity for a good show.</p><p> </p><p> EDIT: Nevermind, the wrestling industry *is* tanked and I misread. Whelp, the more you know!</p>
  7. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Stennick" data-cite="Stennick" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41928" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I am really sorry about your house man. Screw the mod having your house and presumably most things you own turned to ash is horrifying.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yep, lost a lot. Thankfully, my girlfriend and I recently moved in together so a good portion of the most valuable stuff was safely at the new place.</p><p> </p><p> With that said... yeah, probably about half of everything I own went up in the blaze, a lot of which I can never replace.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> As for the mod, I'm continuing my work on it (it's too fun not to!). I wish it was done, but I'm pretty obsessively cleaning up a LOT of stuff for future workers. I've basically drawn the line at re-balancing the stats of each and every worker set to debut, because if I do that then this will never get released. Unless something is painfully off (which happens), I tend to leave it as is.</p><p> </p><p> I'm also experimenting with using narratives to sometimes reflect the more dramatic changes in characters throughout the C-Verse, stuff like E.Z. Ryder making a change to Wiley Steinway as his main name (rather than just having the modern name set as an alter ego). Probably not something I'll fully flesh out for the initial release (alter egos are a solid band-aid), but just a fun experiment to mess with and maybe expand on in the more distant future. But at the moment, E.Z. Ryder is set to start going by Wiley Steinway and Gene Curtis is set to "retire" a day before the mysterious Enygma bursts onto the scene. But seeing as how none of that will even happen until the early 2000s...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Anyways, I'm still working on it folks. I just have a bad habit of sparing no detail when I have the chance.</p>
  8. Just a quick update. Life's been happening as of late, up to and including my house burning down. No, literally, burned to the ground. Thanks lightning! HOWEVER, all the data is just fine and dandy as the laptop I had it saved on was with me and not in said inferno. Haven't gotten much work done, but now that I can actually breath again I'll be back in full swing soon. Sorry for the delay but... well... shit happens. A lot of shit, as is my case, but the mod is alive and well. :-)
  9. <p>Been plugging away some more NYCW. Might do a bigger update at some point when I'm not playing or working on my mod...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> But there is one big thing of note worth sharing:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Man Mountain Cahill is now 48 years old.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> ...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> And he's still not in time decline.</p>
  10. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Nachtfalter" data-cite="Nachtfalter" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41928" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Yep. Between legal issues and the public backlash, I'd argue the promotion would be out of business within months.<p> </p><p> I don't have the rest of the roster in my head right now, but if you're attached to the characters, maybe it'd be easiest to just move the promotion to Paris or somewhere else in Europe.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I went ahead and edited, so in WBW/Germany, they're not N@zis. Just a military officer gimmick, with The (not-Aryan in WBW) Barbarian as his bodyguard.</p><p> </p><p> And in the pre-Internet days, only the most hardcore of fans would even be aware they might have less-than-savory gimmicks outside Germany. I think it works out, but I'm also not German so I could be wrong.</p>
  11. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="K-Nection" data-cite="K-Nection" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41928" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I'm sure nobody would be too distraught by having some small and local companies that are not well funded littered in Australia be a bad thing.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Probably not, no, but it'd still be a sizable undertaking and I've already got a lot on my plate.</p><p> </p><p> I'll start brainstorming, and I'll see about squeezing in at least a few more workers down there, but anything more major would probably have to wait until after release. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Like I've said, priority one right now is getting the mod up to snuff to be as complete and compatible with 2016 as it can. I'm still adding some new touches here and there as I go, but it's not the speediest process. Right now my biggest goal is trying to make sure future workers aren't debuting as the biggest stars in the world or with overly inflated stats, and trying to find workers who's stats have changed so dramatically they need to be re-worked entirely. </p><p> </p><p> That, and bios. Maybe it's not needed for balance, but I can't resist giving more fleshed out biographies to a lot of folks.</p>
  12. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Nachtfalter" data-cite="Nachtfalter" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41928" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I've never had a real game with any of the old versions but I'm looking forward to giving this a real go this time around. Someone needs to teach that Eisen kid he's not all that...<p> </p><p> Just one small wish, if I may: Please don't put **** characters in the German promotion again. It's not that the character itself offends me, but having it in a German promotion is so utterly unrealistic that it completely destroys the credibility and plausibility of the gameworld for me. You can put **** characters literally everywhere else in the world in the 70s but in Germany it would have been unthinkable (not to mention illegal) to have anything resembling a **** character in a wrestling show.</p><p> Since the promotion is supposed to have it's headquarters in West Berlin, what would make much more sense would be Soviet or Eastern German (DDR aka German Democratic Republic) main villains.</p><p> </p><p> EDIT: Yay, censorship works. In case it's not clear, I was making mention of "a certain faction of Germany's past" (that's how it was worded in the old versions of the mod, wasn't it? At least something similar <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />)</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'll be honest, I'm kind of a mark for "The Brotherhood"... though I understand and agree with many of your sentiments, especially that it'd be potentially quite illegal. </p><p> </p><p> With that said, they don't need a huge repackaging. Nothing stopping Commandant Markus Maeir from just being a sadistic, ruthless officer in the Bundeswehr. Aryan Barbarian is a little trickier, since his facist gimmick is right there in the name. Could probably just call him "The Barbarian" when he's in Europe, leaving him (and Markus) free to use their N@zi gimmicks when they're NOT in WBW.</p><p> </p><p> Because it's really WBW where they run into this problem. Outside of Germany in this period, guys working N@zi gimmicks would be universally despised but there wouldn't be any major legal ramifications.</p>

Even still I'm very excited</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Probably not, no. As The Celt mentioned, in C-Verse cannon there's very, very little going on in Australia until recentish times, unfortunately. If I find the time I might see if I can't squeeze in a few workers down there, maybe add a couple of official graduates of Walleye Conklin's dojo on the continent. Going "But there was ACTUALLY a 'major' company down there a long time ago, it just wasn't ever mentioned before!" just isn't something I'm particularly comfortable with.</p>
