  1. Just a random thing I had happen, which I feel demonstrates how the coincidences of the game can form a real narrative. In my long-term game, I had this guy, Yaichiro Itou. Computer generated character, pretty decent prospect for the promotion I own/run. Thing is, he never really seems get into gear. Okay matches, but that's it. Nothing outstanding, even with my elites who can usually pull good performances out of anyone. Couple years go by and I've finally got the financial flexibility to drug test my roster. Yaichiro popps for pain killers. He's only on a handshake deal so I can't suspend him or send him to rehab. Fine him, then use the "talk to" section to see if I can talk him into quitting. He tries and fails. He later fails another test, so he gets fined again, but I can't talk to him about it (only once every two years I think.) Around this time I notice he's in steep decline, especially his stamina. Makes sense, penalties from the addiction, etc. It gets bad fast. Within months of me taking notice, he can't even work a ten minute match, which is the minimum or my company (personal preference for the style I use.) I decide it's probably time to let him go, but in all honesty I forgot to go and actually release him. Three days later I get an email: Yaichiro Itou has passed away. Drug overdose, naturally. SO in my head-canon, he got wind that I was going to release him or figured it out from his performance that night that he was done, and went on a binge, and overdosed. Here's the other thing. I decided to hold a tribute show for him, as is my custom whenever one of my workers dies. Now, I actually considered not doing it; after all, he was on the verge of losing his job. But I held the event anyway...and booked both the best match (89) AND best show (85) in my UC's career thirty-four year run, across three companies.
  2. Not take a position on the Punk/Elite situation, which honestly I just want over with so maybe things can get worked on changing for the better, I find this hilarious. (Though admittedly I'm a bigger fan of Al Bundy that most people in this world)
  3. I have....so many questions. https://imgur.com/a/y6B5nGa https://imgur.com/a/4LxfETr
  4. Gotta say I am intrigued by the Raw spanning background story that culminated with the appearance of Dexter Lumis. (I'm a huge fan.) I was talking to a couple people while watching, and I kept noticing the stuff with the car and whatever in the background. Genuinely curious to see where this one goes. I figured Dexter could never be main roster because of his character.
  5. Starting with a side note, for me this is a great example of how a good roster can hide a bad seed. The individual I am about to discuss worked for me in a prior promotion, and I never had any inkling of an issue with him. When I left and started my on company, he was one I convinced to come work for me. Bad Idea. This is the Saga of Kafu Iida Kafu Iida is a randomly generated character that rolled some amazing stats pretty young. When I was running a fed in Japan, I picked him up early on. He actually left the company for a bit on a written deal with WLW, but that didn't last and when he was free I got him back with a big popularity bump. I had no issues, he was even my company's champion a couple times. Flash forward about five years. I've left to start my own thing in Europe. Looking for workers that match what I need, I see some of my former employees from Japan. Kafu Iida is one, and due to his time in WLW (who had TV in Europe) he was going to come in as a star but was still gettable. So I sign him. Like I said: Bad Idea. My old roster hid the poison, I guess. This smaller roster, with a few more bad seeds and a few less leaders...not so much. Didn't seem bad. Not at the start anyway. See, at first, Kafu was the victim. Someone took a swing at him. Bad luck would have it, the one who took the swing was on his third strike, and I fired him. Kafu gets mad, says it was too harsh. Okay, noted. Then, a couple shows later, someone else damages Kafu's rental. Guy was another problem, and firing was on the table. But I remember...my star didn't like that. So I fine the kid. Kafu? Livid! Says I was too soft. So now he's got low moral. It's around this time I look at my locker room, see how bad it is. He's listed as my second most toxic person (right behind that bastard Anik who I would have fired mid-match if the game allowed it.) He's also my best worker and my second most bankable star. He's the only guy I've got that been ranked in the 500, five times at that. And again, so far he was the wronged party. But he's got low moral, and a toxic attitude. Now he's causing problems. Two shows in a row picking fights with fans outside. Missing meetings. I'm actually to the point of considering firing him...and he walks out, like I'm the problem. Dude doesn't even HAVE another contract with another company. At least not when he quit. A month later he was named head booker of VWA. Though, I think maybe karma is catching up to Mr. Iida: his fourth match with VWA, he suffered a torn rotator cuff. In a dark match. The company is also insurmountably in debt and headed to bankruptcy. Second side note, after he quit (and I fired the dbag Anik) I have had no further incidents on my roster, even from the other problematic ones.
  6. I took some inspiration from the Gift of the Gods, actually. As well as the old Smokey Mountain TV title, and Impact's X-Division Option C. And a bit from that one belt DragonGate had (has?) with the keys. And the whole idea really started forming while my girlfriend and I discussed Pac defending the All-Pacific title overseas right now. I was pretty...let's say medicated...and my brain was working in a couple other gears. My company operates out of the Netherlands so going to "other countries" really isn't as much of a biggie as if I was running in the US or Japan. I can literally use "local talent" if any are of a suitable level. Plus, my product is medium on sports entertainment so a little bit of kayfabe "pre-tape" matches. Being able to use locals or fakes can play into what you said about someone seeking out easy challengers, and so just using locals would fit. Hadn't thought of that as a possible thread to follow. Idea likely stolen. I could also see a similar heel tactic of always claiming to have visa or travel issues as an excuse to duck high level fighters in favor of lower level "designated representatives." (Think someone like JBL or MJF pulling the ole "Hey, my private plane broke down on the way to Tokyo to meet Okada for our match, but here I am in stuck in Scotland so I might as well get a flag off this Grado people keep ranting about...")
  7. I do like the idea of the stipulations coming "naturally" via storylines. Gives it some logic to why it has rules. At the moment it's kind of still developing what level. It's supposed to be a second tier, but I've thought about alternative main title. My world title situation is designed around the old-school, with title matches being rare to give it an air of significance. World title defenses are an Event when they happen. My current champion is entering his fourth year, but only just had his seventh defense. It's half the reason I wanted a belt with an excuse to have defended on pretty much any show. I have a midcard belt but that one is always tied into storylines throwing random defenses doesn't always make sense. This way the belt is it's own storyline regardless of champion.
  8. I seem to recall a few years back. Maybe they had tweaked the mask mechanics for that years game. Someone said something about him not being set to have a mask and I think Adam himself pointed out that it was in fact paint.
  9. For a long time I and I think others thought Skull DeBones/Vengeance wore a mask, not face paint.
  10. I'm in the process of introducing a new division and title to one of my games. I've got what I think is a unique idea but I also feel like maybe I'm overcomplicating things. Figured I'd see if anyone had thoughts. Concept: The International Secondary title Center plate has an interchangeable slot for the flag of wherever the champion is from. Side plates have slots for flags (4-6?) If successfully defended in another country, or against a designated representative of a specific nation, one flag is added. Each flag can only be collected once per title reign, so you can't just beat six Americans to fill the slots. When enough flags have been collected, the title can be traded for a world title shot, if the champion desires. They can use this option at any point after collecting the flags, but can also choose not to. The belt is then vacated, to be awarded in a later match. The title can be defended, won, and lost like any other title, and not all matches are for flags. If a new champion is crowned, all flag plates are removed and the collection begins again. I was also toying with the idea of match stipulations, like using European rules in Europe countries, that sort of thing.
  11. While baked and half a sleep, listening to some SYL, my brain latched onto some weird concepts and now Magwich is MAW Champion. In 2029, so he's not exactly in his prime either. Really don't know what to do with him but I hate having a champion drop a title on the first defense. Not my most impressive moment in this particular save. That distinction goes to Miller Fforde. Fforde was on the cusp of getting fired. He'd fallen to just recognizable on the roster and I had nothing for him. He asked for a raise and I refused. His morale took a hit and I figured he'd leave. Nope. Six months later, despite me booking him mostly in throwaway matches, he was putting in work. I had put him in this d-league thing I run in preshow just to keep people working. Usually I let the road agent pick those winners, just to see what happens. Well, a ways down the road I noticed suddenly he's viewed as a star. Take a look...he hasn't lost a match in the league. Combined with appearances for NYCW, he's started to get some movement behind him. I start paying attention. Give him some higher profile matches. A couple months later I book him to win the Rip Chord Invitational (now Memorial) Cup, and a month after that, more than ten years after his first reign, he wins the MAW Champion. Then I get weird and, well... Magwich.
  12. Do alliances form organically in this year's edition? Because there's one in my current game that I definitely didn't create and wasn't in the database. So either they do or I've been playing drunk again.
  13. Only need two. Don't have a logo yet, but the company is called National Grappling Federation/NGF. NGF All India/Indian National (whichever wording works/fits better.) Based off the the old WWF "big green" belt seen here https://www.wildcatbelts.com/www-green-belt.php, but with a blue strap, and the center plate featuring the Ashoka Chakra symbol from their flag (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashoka_Chakra) NGF Most Glorious Champion Figure super "Bollywood" inspired, with tassels and ribbons, stuff like that. Literally the most opulent, gaudy thing imaginable. Cannot possibly be too over the top. If you think you've gone too far, it's probably still not enough. You could literally put a blonde wig on the thing and it would still work for what I intend it for. (Essentially an "unsanctioned" title like the FTW or Million Dollar championships.)
