  1. Seems like we've solved it folks, I'll buy the full version and see how I get on! Thanks for your help! :-)
  2. Match focus is Three Ring Circus, Core/Current product are both Absurdist Entertainment. Three Ring Circus isn't an option in the product drop downs in the editor for me. I've just downloaded the trial version of the game for now to see if I could get this mod working be before I buy the full game (will only be using the game to play this mod as AEW)...that might be the issue!
  3. Sorry if this is a stupid question - First time using TEW 2020 and using this mod. I've just tried to start a game as AEW and the Core/Current product are set to 'Absurdist Entertainment', (Events 50/50 matches vs angles and TV 20/80 matches vs angles) which doesn't seem correct? I've tried downloading both versions of the database and it's the same. Is this an error or have I done something wrong? Could someone point me in the right direction of what the Core/Current product should be set to for AEW to start off? Thanks!
  4. I heard that somebody in an alternate timeline once tried to convert Tony Ferguson's fight style to code and that's what created The Matrix.
  5. I feel like I should check in once a year for the rest of my life to keep the MMA thread alive So the MMA world looks like it *might* be getting back to normal soon. The UFC are selling tickets for the April PPV event, so that's a start! In the UK most close contact sport is still banned, but the company I work for - Cage Warriors - was able to achieve 'elite athlete' status with the UK Government. We've not been able to run shows as normal, but we worked with UFC Fight Pass to put on three 'Trilogy' events in Sept, Dec and most recently last week - Three events on three consecutive nights from within a Covid-secure bubble. Incredibly stressful, prepping for three nights in a row. Plus having to pass Covid tests to even be allowed into the bubble, get three lots of fighters medically cleared and weighed-in etc. Draining too, but so worth it in the end. We're doing another one in June, potentially our last as restrictions are lifted, and it's looking like we may be able to have fans in attendance as well, which will be awesome. Oooh, and I called the Conor McGregor fight for the BBC in January as well, which was a bucket list item of mine! Hope everyone is well!
  6. I had all (I think) of the UK VHS/DVDs releases of the PPVs, pretty sure they all had the original music? Been almost 20 years mind so could be talking absolute rubbish!
  7. As someone who caught up on ECW via VHS and DVD from around 2001 or so (around the time they closed probably), it was a fun ride. I was about 16-17 at the time and very much of the age where I thought I was too old to be watching wrestling, so having something that was a lot more adult orientated was pretty cool. I suppose the worst thing about going back through it all on the network will be the music (and I don't know if they censor some of the more graphic violence/language). Guys like RVD, Sandman, New Jack, Balls Mahoney...their music was such a big part of it. To a lesser extent, even Tommy Dreamer with "Man In A Box" or Justin Credible with "Snap Your Finger, Snap Your Neck"...the songs were so key. Some personal bits from 99-01, which was my favorite period... Awesome/Tanaka Rhyno's monster run Any combination of Tajiri/Super Crazy/Little Guido/Mikey Whipwreck/Tony Mamaluke Cyrus The Virus on comms The Roadkill/Doring tag team The Taz/Awesome ECW title situation that ended up with a Tommy Dreamer/Justin Credible match that instantly created ECW's new most-hated heel. Steve Corino's rise from comedy side show to legit main eventer and *that* match with Jerry Lynn.
  8. Depends what your playing for I suppose. It sounds like they want to play a modern version of EWR, so best to turn that setting off. I'm the same - I don't have the time/inclination to learn how to play games like this 'well'; I just want to play. The EWR setting in 2016 was perfect for me.
  9. Are we talking dream matches that haven't happened? If so... Sting vs Undertaker 1999/2000 era WWF vs WCW vs ECW acronym 3-way dance: HBK vs RVD vs DDP
  10. Simple answer: UFC 248 gate was 15K for $2.7m dollars. UFC on ESPN 6 was 12k for $1.1m. Fight Night 169 was 7k for $400,000. So those are the dollar amounts they're losing for different levels of show. The problem is that they have a complicated broadcast deal with ESPN now. In the US, you can only get UFC PPV if you subscribe to ESPN+ first. So you pay a yearly fee ($5pcm), *PLUS* PPV cost. Obviously this has sent PPV buys into the basement, so ESPN compensates them with a flat fee... However, that flat fee is only paid in full if the UFC meets certain programming commitments, i.e. 40 or so events per year over all ESPN platforms. So the real answer is, we don't know. They're going to try and do 40 live events this year still, to reach that quota. The first bunch will likely be behind closed doors though, so no gate. It may end up being their worst year financially in the past decade. FYI - Cage Warriors have secured a secret, private venue for when the restrictions on travel are eased over here, so we'll likely be doing audience-free shows on Fight Pass before we get back to normal. I wrote about our last show the day before the lockdown here if you're interested. https://www.battlesoflondon.com/features/2020/3/28/the-old-worlds-final-cage-fight Also, here's the two best prelim fights from that event, if anyone needs to scratch their MMA itch!
  11. Yeah it's been a while man... Probably around when WMMA4 launched I think! Still commentating...Cage Warriors (the main company I work for) are now one of the UFC's affiliate promotions on UFC Fight Pass, which is pretty cool. I also got to call UFC London last year, and the BMF title fight between Diaz and Masvidal for BBC Radio/Online. I run a regional promotion in the north of England with some friends too, about to celebrate 9 years in business. Keeping busy! Hope you're good!
  12. Hello mate! Been checking in on TEW on the sly... got another month or two off work by the looks of things so I thought I'd stop by and pick it up Hope you're well!
  13. I've not posted here for years I don't think. Back in for the new game... I'll probably pass the time by eating biscuits...that's what we're all doing in this lockdown world, right?

You really have no need for a crowd at MMA events.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I worked what I'm fairly sure was the last major event in the western world a few weeks back. It was supposed to take place a day before UFC London in a smaller part of the same venue. UFC cancelled on Saturday night/Sunday morning. On Monday the venue closed its doors. By Monday night we'd secured a private venue at the other end of the country to hold the fights (and one fight featuring guys who were supposed to fight on the UFC). </p><p> </p><p> From a commentator's point of view it was really weird, and more difficult than normal without the crowd. Looks like our next few events will also be behind closed doors though so I'd better get used to it! </p><p> </p><p> Also, hello everyone, it's been a few years :-p</p>

So I'd imagine lesser expectations on quality.</p>
  17. He doesn't but I've come across a fair few people (including a couple of matchmakers) who do.
  18. Disciplined as in, he does what he wants, not what you want him to. Doesn't mean he can't get beat when what he wants to do is stupid.
  19. Both guys landed plenty of significant strikes, they're also both known for being able to take or roll with punches. Diaz isn't a power hitter himself and has never been knocked out - what did you expect? I've seen quite a few people online saying they feel let down by the fight but in all honesty it's their own fault for buying the hype. Silva was always going to take a while to get into it. It's a small miracle he's even in there at all considering the type of injury he sustained and the age at which he sustained it. I've seen a few of those over the years (one in person unfortunately) and the fighters have never been the same after it. Anderson looked pretty much back to normal by the championship rounds, but he was always going to start slowly. Plus, like other have said, his game revolves around slips, parries and counters. Diaz loses fights when he doesn't get his own way, plain and simple. He's never been the fastest or most powerful puncher, but his angles and accuracy are incredible. When you factor in his phenomenal cardio, you get a guy that can punish every mistake with 3-5 punches instead of just one. He gets those opportunities by applying pressure, walking guys down and as a last (or sometime first) resort, talking, taunting etc. It's all designed to get a reaction. When Diaz fights disciplined guys, or guys who can shut him down, he loses, and he usually doesn't look great in doing so. Silva is one of the most disciplined guys in the game, and he wasn't going to be taking any chances coming back from his lay-off. The fight was always going to look like that. I quite enjoyed it to be honest. They're both legitimately great fighters (and one of them is in with a shout of being the best ever) and you get the sense that anything could happen with them, right up to the final bell.
  20. It was the correct outcome. If a fighter can't continue due to an injury, that's a TKO. He didn't verbally submit as such, so that would have been a bit more controversial. He was just indicating that he couldn't continue in his current state. The ref isn't obliged to call the doctor in. Funnily enough, there's actually been a UFC fight where a doctor was called in to check a dislocated finger/thumb and popped it back into place. That probably shouldn't have happened though.
  21. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Blackman" data-cite="Blackman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26660" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><p> What's up with people trying to photoshop everything, just because they can. I admit it does look better, but why bother? Potential increase in sales?</p><p> </p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Control of branding, image, etc. UFC are very big on it. They edit out certain tattoos, birthmarks, marks, black eyes etc. They often slim down or bulk up fighters (adding abs, etc), as promo shots are taken out of camp (so the fighters are chubby) or on fight week close to weigh-ins (so fighters looks like meth addicts :-p). Fighters aren't models, after all. </p><p> </p><p> As you can see from 21 seconds into this video, I need absolutely zero photo shopping and look great in super slow motion :-p </p><p> </p><p> </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/MC9hzUd90wA?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="Cage Warriors 66: Rewind"></iframe></div></div>
  22. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Kingster" data-cite="Kingster" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26660" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So, UFC Fight Pass is now available here. Haven't looked at it yet because the only payment option right now is via credit card, which I don't have (will have to ask a friend if they don't offer PayPal). 7.99 € a month after a 7 day free trial, which is pretty much the 9.99 $ you U.S. folks have to pay. <p> The PPV's will be 15.99 € and 17.99 € (HD) in the future, so now more free events for us. A lot of people are extremely angry at that, but I think these are very fair prices.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> People are always angry when they're asked to pay for something. Especially when they got it for free before. Of course there is the argument that Europe doesn't have the PPV culture, but with television content switching to bespoke services, this is an outdated cliche. </p><p> </p><p> What I find amusing (depressing, really) is that the people who moan about paying for Fight Pass/UFC cards are usually the same group that moan about things like 'quality of cards' and fighter pay. They want both to be better, yet balk at contributing. </p><p> </p><p> I've enjoyed FP so far. I already have all the Pride, UFC, WEC etc stuff on there on hard drives, but it's cool to have them at my fingertips, especially with the travel I do. I enjoyed watching the UFC last Saturday afternoon while doing my final commentary prep in the arena for Cage Warriors.</p><p> </p><p> I understand there are some issues with the fight library not being 'as promised' though, which sucks. Strikeforce shows can't be uploaded until three years after their airdate, or something. Recent PPVs/TV cards will be delayed for some time, too. </p><p> </p><p> There has been a bit of a to do in England as BT Sport (the UFC's main broadcast partner) got broadcast rights to all the 'FP exclusive' cards. They'll show the afternoon ones on tape delay, but the Euro ones will be live. The UFC then announced another deal to simulcast the top couple of fights from the Euro cards on Channel 5, a free to air station, as well. </p><p> </p><p> I still think it represents value for money at the price though.</p>
  23. <p>Nah, us Brits are just fugly :-p </p><p> </p><p> I gave Arrow a go last week, and to be honest I'm really enjoying it. Didn't expect to at all, only started watching it as I'm in the middle of re-watching The Shield (how awesome is that show?) with the Mrs and I've not seen her for a week, so wanted something to plug the gap. Pretty impressed. </p><p> </p><p> I never really read the comics, so didn't have any preconceptions about what the character 'should' be. It's not a great show by any stretch, but it's an enjoyable way to spend 40 mins if you're willing to switch your brain off. Mostly I like it because it's so, so much better than Agents of SHIELD, and has restored my faith that comic books can be adapted on the small screen. AoS is quite possibly the worst TV show I've ever watched. </p><p> </p><p> But yeah, I'm about 15 episodes in, where he's just done the island mission with Deathstroke/Wade. Very much enjoying it.</p>
