  1. - Hard to care about the Blondes when they never win on TV. Jungle Boy! Christian/Luchasaurus partnership over in record time. What a waste of a storyline. I'm holding out a hope (prob a fools hope) that Lucha is actually playing the long game on JB. Otherwise I agree, complete waste of time.
  2. according to sources, Steph is basically just going to be his figurehead on the board, and he's still in charge of creative. I expect nothing to change but "optics"
  3. TK loves him Cole and the boys. like I enjoy Adam Cole as well, but jesus. TK is pushing him and Red Dragon down everyones throats. Like did we really need him and Britt to win the Owen Heart? I hated that. Should have been Joe and Someone other than Britt, the one super made women on the Roster, she didn't need that.
  4. yea it just seems like you need to pull the trigger on Jade facing someone up the roster a bit. I get slow builds and bringing her along but everytime now they are like "AND SHE'S 30-0!!1" I'm just like "can she wrestle anyone above the lower mid card?"
  5. Thanks Blackman, I'll let your well reasoned and very on point response serve as "clownsys" response to Brokencycle.
  6. I do understand what you were saying, and respect your decision not to get into it. but It still does not remain anti - representation to say "this person is not very good at their job" At no point in this thread has anyone come close to saying anything anti LGBT. We said Nyla Rose is not very good at her job, and doesn't justify the push she gets, and you then added context we never stated that we were saying she only has her Job because Tony Kahn is trying to be "woke" or some nonsense. There are plenty of people who i think aren't as talented as they are pushed in wrestling . Cole, Adam would be another one for me (and yes, I know I'm in the VAST minority here. He's very good, but just not at the level to me he's pushed at)
  7. Isn't part of equality being able to call it like we see it? She isn't very good, sorry. It's not anti representation to point out she isn't very good at her Job.
  8. yea, I guess. But the thing is there are already way, waaaaayyyyyy to many people on the AEW roster alone. if were now going to "keep the new purchase relevant" already, without the ROH stuff, people and feuds disappear right now for far to long/ get put on the back burner and then randomly shoved back on top without much buildup. Example just this week: Where was anything (besides a semi lame video package) for your World Title Match on Rampage? do we really have time to devot to Jay Leathal and Joe's ROH fued and a green giant? Am I to pretty much consider this match on Friday a "Hangman is winning, since we aren't promoting it much" situation? never mind things like Lance Archer, Brian Cage, Roby Soho and others dropping off the face of the earth for months, to then reappear with pumped up records from Dark like they've been doing something impressive while they've been away. Then this is getting to my problem with WWE, where it's just content for content sake. I don't want to see that in AEW. I love AEW, but right now I feel like they are in a pretty big booking Lull, and Tony trying to jam in ROH titles on top of that is not helping the matter for me.
  9. I'm not a huge fan of all this ROH business being conducted on Dynamite and Rampage. Hoping it's short term, just to get ROH jumpstarted. Like the main event was good, I hated the post match because it felt like "PLEASE TUNE INTO ROH TOO!" also, someone needs to revoke Tony's "lights out! oh noes! here's someone in the ring" button. it's becoming a meme at this point how often they go to that.
  10. I mean, he's likely 100% right so I don't know if its really him using the dirty tactic or calling one out. One of my friends works for a social media company that conducts what they call "negative space advertising" which is basically exactly what Tony is describing here.
  11. my wife suggested this last night, and now I need this in my life. Samoa Joe joining the Blackpool Combat Club must happen. Imagine that stable. Joe, Bryan, Mox and (redacted) just killing everyone
  12. oh 100% and also, that smug "im crraaazzzy" taunt he does before he goes up top. I just want to punch him in the face everytime. Turn the man back Heel, he was born for it
  13. I'm just going by the various podcasts ive heard him on, his social media posts, and reports about his behavior. Where there is smoke, there is generally fire. HE's a talented Wrestler. He also seems like a huge POS. Wouldn't be the first time both things are true.
  14. yea so I can't link it here, but if you go on Tay's instagram, I'll just say LOLZ to the whole victim card they both play when it's brought up Sammy 100% cheated on his fiancé with her. Tay and Sammy are fast becoming the new Cody and Brandi of AEW for me. They need to turn them both heels if they are gonna keep basically waiving Sammy F'in over his fiancé in our faces. We get it Sammy, you are boinking the hot Brazillian girl. Every time you flaunt it, it just makes people remember the poor women you dragged out on Dynamite to propose to, then cheated on either before or like a month after. Much like Roman, lean into people's strengths. Sammy is a much better heel, likely because he's a complete dink in real life based on locker room stuff (RoH and Impact debacles, Not being real sorry he was unsafe and almost blinded Matt Hardy, Sasha stuff, ect) just let the man be a heel, he's clearly a pretty trash person IRL.
  15. we are finishing the PPV tonight, got home late with the Toddler so only finished the Buyin and through the JAde match. So far, really happy with it. I'll check back tomorrow after we watch the second half ha. First half highlights include: - Stratlander v Hirwsch was better than I thought it would be, but I'm ready for this to be over as a fued. However, very happy to see someone not named Baker, Britt or Rosa, Thunder get some time to connect their characters with the audience in the women division. I'm not pumped it looks like Hirsch's next fued is Red Velvet though, feels like a step back down as a reward for going over Stratlander. - House of Black vs. Death Triangle and Read Beard was a lot of good Hoss fun, with some lucha librae mixed in. I liked it. My only slight nit pick is I'm not sure why we turned Penta into Penta Black to then lose multiple times to the house of black. - Don Callis was good, good troll and way to remind the audience that kenny is always watching and sees what Cole is doing pretty clearly. Main Show: Eddie vs Jericho - I thought this was awesome. Loved the character work throughout, and the fact that Jericho DID bring out the old Y2J version of himself, he looked better than he has in a few years, clearly put in a bunch of time in the Gym the last few months. Was moving much better and not huffin and puffin after 5 minutes. the fact that he lost because he screwed around when he had the man beat was also vintage Y2J to steal a line from Cole, and sets up another match or two. Kingston's facials are always just so good. The "I won? really?" was great. My MOTN, again with the caveat that we had to pause before the second half. Triple threat - I like this a lot, although as always with these triple threat tag matches with two teams only in the ring, I struggled to really follow what "the plan" was. I assumed it was "get the two of our teams in the match, then settle it while they (Jurassic Express) can't be in the match, but then even once they got to Red Dragon vs the bucks that seemed to be "against the plan" based on how the Bucks and Red Dragon operated. I'm just confused as to what "the plan" was if not to just go at it once they got JE out of the match via tag. Eventually, someone has to pick up a pin fall. Another nit pick, but again this is more a failing of these triple threat tags with two teams in, much was made of the fact that Luchasaurs and JB had to be careful to not be tagged out of the match. It apparently took Kyle about 15 minutes to realize he could just blind tag one of them in his corner. Also, whoever put a mic close enough to Bobby Fish to pick up his trash talking is my hero. He's sneaky hilarious. Jade vs Conti - yikes. well that's to strong a word, it was fine. there were several spots in the match however where you could tell if Tay lost the thread of the match, they were just confused. Biggest being where Tay accidentally put her foot so far under the rope that Audrey had to call it out, Tay just moved slightly, and you could tell Jade had no idea what was going on. Just very hard to have two relatively green workers in there for a longer match. was fine though. I do feel like Anna and Conti are now kinda locked into "mid card face gate keepers" which I hope Conti breaks out of at some point, she's to good to be stuck there. LAdder match - Pretty good, like all multiman ladder matches it had it's moments of "wow, that was super scripted out" but thats the fun with these matches. Right guy won.
  16. Agreed, though Valhiem has taken it's spot for the last few months. Both great games.
  17. Right, but Cody has to be making the case he should have some stroke, right? and if the crowd treats him like a midcarder, what are the chances Vince gives him any say in n his character? all signs point to the fact that's a very, very small list and you better be at the top of the money making heap for the company. or I dunno, maybe Cody is cool with everything as long as the check clears
  18. or he wanted to float a trial balloon, which if that was the case not a great look that (at least on youtube, I can't be bothered to watch full shows anymore) there was no like... "cody! cody!" chant or pop. People were just like "ok" If they were seeing how much the WWE audience cares about Cody coming in, I can't imagine that's a good look for Cody and his spot on the card. It seems like they are teasing Edge vs Cody but even in that segment, when Edge mentioned him it didn't get much of a response. We've talked about this here before, but I question how many WWE fans really know or care about the AEW product, there doesn't seem to be much crossover TBH of watching both shows and keeping up with the product. Cody might find that if creative control of his character is what he seeks, this match at Mania better blow Vince's mind or he'll be back to Stardust in no time.
  19. https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2022/02/big-swole-says-tony-khan-used-to-smoke-her-weed/ God, I want to hope Big Swole really looks at her self, gets better in the ring, and becomes a star, but then here she is being like "He could have told me my ring skills weren't that good and I needed work, but we were such brrrrroooooo's, he smoked weed with me! How could he be so mean and say I needed more work in ring!" Hun, it's 2022. Smoking weed with someone isn't a big deal or make you besties.
  20. Then Tony made the right call, because Cody's storylines and Brandi's stuff is easily the most out of place stuff on the show. Cody's lacked direction other than "get myself and Brandi on TV" for a solid year. Maybe, I've honestly just noticed that Cody's stuff is very tired and shoehorns Brandi into everything. Brandi seems like a fine person, but every moment she was on my TV I wanted to change it/ thought of all the other talented women in AEW I'd rather see get the time. I'd read this, sounds cool as hell. I dunno, he's always stated they are on good terms and it was mutual when he left. I don't think there is really as much bad blood here as people seem to assume. HE left WWE for very similar reasons to what is being reported with AEW. Contract time had come, and he felt he was worth Main Event Money. Vince said no, I don't see you that way and Cody said "then let me go prove you wrong" from all accounts. Seems to me he Did, and Vince tends to respect people that do that. I mean I don't know about that. I think Wrestlers are conditioned to see people come and go from a company without much animosity. Its not like Cody left because he was off TV or something, he left because he wants more money. That happens everywhere, doesn't mean the person is suddenly persona non grata or the company they left is to blame.
  21. doubt Cody would ask there, the rumors have been out there for awhile though that he feels he should have it in AEW, given the circumstances. Also, note that absent from Brandi's statement is a thank you to Omega or the Bucks, despite going on forever about other people in the company and her vague little allusion to "not letting other people tell your story" Drama for dayz lol.
  22. so take it for what it's worth (not much) But Rumor sites are reporting he's going back to WWE. according to again nothing more than these sites, he wanted a "big money" contract and back in on creative control. AEW did not see him back in a creative control roll and the money request was apparently as much or close to what Punk and Danielson are making. same sites are saying that when he left, the reason was Vince didn't see him as a "main event talent" and thus pay scale, and that Cody is now basically pointing to his run, helping to get AEW started, and his spot as a "main eventer" on that show as proof to Vince he was wrong. We shall see, very interesting development.
  23. Wow, unless this is an extremely long term work, Cody is gone from AEW https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2022/02/cody-rhodes-confirms-his-aew-departure-tony-khan-comments/
  24. because if she's the TBS champion, then she isn't challenging for the world title. She specifically mentioned this in multiple promo's leading up to the TBS tourney, that she was happy the new title now existed to give another goal for the rest of the roster to chase and get someone out of her hair as a challenger. Like I said, it's nit picky, but at the time she "paid" Mercedes to screw Rosa (semifinals), it made absolutely zero sense storyline wise. If Rosa beats Nia, and goes on to Beat Jade and become the first TBS champ, she's out of Britt's hair for months at least. but by screwing Rosa, she basically guaranteed that Rosa is now going to hound her and chase her title, now with the further motivation that Britt screwed her (as if she needs it ha) instead of just having her own problems defending the TBS title.
  25. My only problem with Mercedes being paid by Baker is I don't see why Britt wouldn't want Thunder to win the TBS championship. Britt should have wanted Thunder to win, she even cut a promo on how the TBS championship would keep one of "those Jealous B's" away from her title. So why cost Rosa a shot at it, and presumably not being in the hunt for Britt's championship? Just kinda odd, but more nit picky than anything.
