  1. <p>Just got struck with an idea for an attribute that I think would be really cool. I'm not actually sure if this game actually generates it's own second generation wrestlers, but maybe it's something that can be generated for existing ones when they debut. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Big Shoes To Fill:</strong> This attribute only occurs for second generation wrestlers, specifically ones related to really popular wrestlers. Essentially it gives them a bit of residual name value early on, with the immediate familiarity helping take them from say 0 pop to 20 pop really quickly. It could also make them slightly more likely to be signed by AI companies. But as a downside, if they're not particularly talented in their own right, they can struggle to get over beyond a certain point, maybe a lower pop cap than they'd usually have, due to being compared negatively.</p>
  2. <p>This probably isn't the most cost-effective thing and won't fit every situation but if you can do it, signing people who are maybe mid-level for you but much more popular than the folks you actually wanna push to use them as jobbers is a nice strat when applicable. </p><p> </p><p> I've been on a TCW game and part of my usual beginning-of-game signing spree was the Wild Cats, El Jaguar and Tigre Savaje Jr., and I wanted to push them as a major tag team out of the gate but they were unknowns for the longest time, seemingly no matter what I did. They won all the time, teamed with bigger names and were involved in high rated segments with great talking stars but it was still such slow going for months. I got to a point where I was like two months away from when I planned to put the tag titles on them and they weren't even close to ready yet, still around 20s in most regions of the US.</p><p> </p><p> So I did something really different and kinda fun. I decided they would go on a campaign of challenging a bunch of title-winning tag teams of the past that I signed to one-appearance deals, so as to put them over a bunch of older workers who still had some pop, all in the span of a month. They beat the Darkness Warriors one week (getting Raul Darkness on a one-night deal and having Danny Fonzarelli switch gimmicks for a cheeky one-off) and then the Nation of Filth the next week, the Samoan Pit Bulls the week after, Dirty White Boys on a Showcase episode, and finally Savage Fury at the PPV. </p><p> </p><p> That put them in the 40s by the end of that month, which was enough of a boost to get them past the Unimportant stage and it's been smooth sailing from there. Two months later, they're considered Well Known and are making for real good tag champs.</p>
  3. Tony Khan has actually said in interviews that he loved doing fantasy booking and playing booking sims growing up and it was part of cultivating his interest in doing it for real down the road. I don't know if it was TEW specifically, maybe one of the predecessors, but I do imagine he was probably talking about some Ryland games.
  4. Yeah with the latest patch you may actually need a broadcaster of some sort to rise up a level... In July of 2021 WrestleWorld Europe will be opening, and you should be able to get onto that without any issue, the WrestleWorld services take Tiny companies. I'd maybe switch to monthly until then just to get there faster. I guess it might not be the perfect option but it's something you can try.
  5. Is this a recent thing or have you been struggling at this for a while? What broadcaster do you have? A recent patch made it so that a companies' popularity is capped by their broadcaster, so even if they're having great shows it won't increase unless there's enough people watching.
  6. Generally you should be aiming to get shows on a level that's equal to your popularity in your main region. If you get ratings below that, you'll be told you're losing pop as a result of the show. All you have to do to foreshadow turns is have people who are set to turn in a segment where it doesn't happen yet. From that point on any segment will have a note saying they foreshadowed a turn. Matches count too. Default angles are largely for saving time as it can be faster if you know what you're looking for.

I feel like there was one mentioned in the dev journal but I can't find it now. <p> </p><p> I'm looking to do a round-robin tournament but it would suck if I hit day 5 and can't get that worker anymore,</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Eventually they'll block you from using too many alliance loans in a short span of time. </p><p> </p><p> It would probably be a better idea to try a Talent Trade with the specific promotion they work for and see if you can get them to agree to as many appearances as you need. (You can automatically do talent trades with companies you share an alliance with even if you don't have a relationship with that specific company.)</p>
  8. So I want to note this here because it kinda wouldn't make sense as a tech support thread and it'd get deleted eventually anyway, I'd like for solutions to this to actually be out there for people to see. There's this ongoing thing that happens to some people, maybe just folks with certain operating systems, where they can't always apply new patches. The TEW2020.exe file, somewhere along the way, becomes this file that you have no permission to alter. Which means you can't overwrite it with a new patch and you can't delete it to replace it. You could usually still play the old version but sometimes running it is also blocked. We don't really know the cause. Some people link it to anti-viruses but I really don't think that's happening with me. The reason the patch schedule was changed actually is because Adam felt the frequency of patch releases was causing an issue. I'm not really sure, either way it just happened to me again. I've worked through this several ways in the past as it happens to me every few patches. (I've actually been dealing with this since the Public Beta days but eventually I always get the up-to-date patch somehow!) Sometimes getting things to work is as simple as reinstalling the game and restarting your computer. That's usually what I do but for some people that doesn't work. This time I got the idea to try something different and it seems to have worked, and I feel like there's no reason this shouldn't work for everybody. All I did was: A) Make a new folder. I put it in the GDS folder myself where the usual TEW2020 folder is found, not sure if it's important to do that or not. B) Copy everything from the TEW2020 folder into the new one except for the actual TEW2020.exe application itself. (I wouldn't have been able to do that anyway.) C) Download the new patch. D) Put the new patch in the new folder. When I ran it from there, it loaded a little slow the first time for some reason but it did run. And the second time just now it opened up as quickly as it usually does. So this seems to have solved it. It's not really the ideal thing but it was faster than reinstalling and rebooting atleast for me, and I figure this should work more consistently for everyone as well. So the next time this comes up in tech support you can direct someone to this post or just copy and paste if you want. If any issues come up as a result of this I will let you know but the immediate tests are positive. I guess thinking about it, it could cause the uninstaller to not function properly depending on how that works... but we're just talking about actually playing the game here. You also might want to delete the contents of the old TEW2020 folder since the pic folders and stuff can take up a lot of space, though I'm personally keeping it all around as a back-up just in case. (Note: This is intended for when the TEW2020 application you already have is the one with the issue. Sometimes the new patch is the one with the problem, in which case this would not help, I think you just have to re-download it in that case. You can test to see if the one you have is the problem by trying to rename it or move it.)
  9. I actually feel like the on-screen instructions for Placement Mode are pretty good, as far as making sure you know what to do but also not threaten to become annoying in any way. The way it's done is a lot more subtle and a lot easier than the likely alternative of a pop-up coming up anytime you click on it. But maybe it's a little too subtle for some, it's certainly not impossible to miss. The color change and positioning directly above the booking sheet help guide your eye to it though.
  10. Click 'title history' and then 'achievements'. If they have any progress it'll be listed at the top.
  11. <p><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Total Championship Wrestling - July 2020</strong></span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>TCW World Heavyweight Champion</strong> - Wolf Hawkins (4x) (Defeated Aaron Andrews at Total Mayhem XXIV, May 2020)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>TCW World Tag Team Champions</strong> - The Wild Cats (El Jaguar & Tigre Salvaje Jr.) (Defeated The Behemoths at Total Mayhem XXIV, May 2020)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>TCW Television Champion</strong> - Ernest Youngman (Defeated Joshua Taylor on Total Wrestling, Wk 1, June 2020)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>TCW Trios Champions</strong> - The Ego Trippers (Roderick Remus, Matt Hocking & Troy Tornado) (Defeated Edd Stone, Flying Jimmy Foxx & Benny Benson and the Sinner Society represented by Buddy Garner and the Behemoths to become inaugural champions at Excessive Force, June 2020)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>TCW Ladder Champion</strong> - Sammy Bach (Defeated Freddy Huggins, Greg Gauge, Koshiro Ino, T-Bone Bright and Spencer Spade in a Six-Way Ladder Match to become inaugural champion at Total Mayhem XXIV, May 2020) </p><p> </p><p> The Ladder title is a MITB/Gift of the Gods style thing. The holder of it gets a world title shot whenever they want BUT until they do, they're expected to defend it regularly. I wanted to establish a Total Mayhem tradition and this works well for it I think.</p><p> </p><p> Just kinda happened to be a lot of title changes just now due to the season plus two new championships added so I felt like sharing. Up until Total Mayhem no titles had changed hands from the default except for the TV title. Taylor beat Greg Gauge in April shortly after turning babyface. I wanna let the Television championship change hands pretty frequently, Youngman will be dropping it to Frankie Perez at the start of August.</p>

Could kinda be a Jimmy Hart type.</p><p> </p><p> I've also used Ricky Dale Johnson in this role although he costs a lot to hire so maybe that wasn't super smart. But he's a great talker and the segments get high ratings so hey.</p>
  14. Did you start this save game several patches ago? PPV buyrates were considerably nerfed by request, though it might still be a work in progress tailoring it since some would say it was over-corrected. I've seen it in action too since my game started back in the Public Beta, my first PPVs did way better even though the size of my promotion and the stars and ratings are much higher.
  15. Indeed. I also feel strongly that people should be able to play this however they want, which is funnily usually something people throw at 'purists' but I also don't think those purists should be excluded. I'd rather not have to strongarm people into messing with preferences if they'd rather go without it or else make them take a penalty that I can't imagine was intended in the first place. This situation just feels like a bit of an oversight. Which is fine, it happens when you're juggling this much stuff. But there's really no way it was intended to make putting on a show in the first week (or first day, which makes regular TV shows an issue as well) of a start date just, a bad idea, with default settings. Especially considering the default database has that scenario. The other thing is that newer players will be very likely to run into these things and they're not likely to think about going into options and preferences. I can say that from both my own experience and from seeing folks who are playing their first TEW now. That this is specifically something that would affect you in the first week compounds this. I like the idea of making the first day of the save an exception, if you go right ahead with pre-bookings immediately the game treats it the same as it would if you'd done it a week in advance. That feels like a fair thing to me and a little bit smarter design.
  16. I mean yeah you can, it's what I'd do. I know a lot of people are very stubbornly against things like that, consider it exploiting the system or cheating. The thing about this that's an issue is that certain scenarios will actually have a major event set on the week the game starts. Which means you don't have the week in advance for pre-booking that a significant event is supposed to get. The default database even has this with CZCW, many of it's events are in the first week including January. In that scenario the penalty doesn't seem fair, I don't think that's a wild thing to say. Of course you can disable the effect and also you can just move that event a few days forward to allow yourself to pre-book it like normal. But I think if a feature needs to be worked around or temporarily disabled just to make things fair that implies an issue with the feature. It'd be nice for the game to account for situations like that.
  17. A grace period lasting a few weeks or the first month at the start of a game would probably be a solid idea. Might make for a good shout in the suggestions forum.
  18. It's an interesting thought. You'll probably be asked to send your save and maybe a copy of the database itself. With any luck, there might be a Remote Assistance Code added for this that'll help fix your save so you can resolve this and keep going. You can try requesting that as well.
  19. Well that shouldn't even be possible. You should report that in tech support.
  20. That said here's what the Handbook has to say: So they'll likely be taking a good chunk of money from a lawsuit, the scope of which probably depending on the broadcaster size and the company itself.
  21. I've never actually come across what happens when the contract ends before you've done the required number of events. But I will say that I have had points where I'd done a lot fewer than what they asked for by the time the contract was up and they were still happy to re-negotiate. In that sense you can sign on those deals every year without ever having to actually do twelve in a year. But of course signing onto a new provider means you have to finish the old one first. Additionally that's only talking with 2016 experience, I haven't had a long enough game in 2020 to see this there yet. It's possible it works differently now.
  22. This is what the handbook has to say: Seems like it's a much more robust system than before, title reign lengths should fit the promotion pretty well in general.
  23. After five seconds with the Placement Mode I have quickly deduced that this is a massive upgrade. I wasn't even someone that was all that bothered by moving segments around but I did think the old way worked a little smoother. But now we suddenly have a system that's way better than any other installment! Very strong.

And if you have the newest patch applied, you can go to Options, hit Remote Help and add in the code 'staffmomfix' to reset all of the non-wrestlers and retired wrestlers' momentum to Neutral. But keep in mind this also means you'll be losing all positive momentum for these people as well.</p>
