1.
I'm happy at how the Bellator/Alvarez situation played out for the most part. No one should be offering hypothetical money and expecting that to outweight what is actually spelled out.

Bellator really should have tried to put together a PPV earlier though. That way it would have helped deflect a lot of the contract dispute up front. But in the end both sides (except the UFC) win out.

People like Alvarez can expect to see that kind of verbiage in their contract, giving them more money come PPV time (and rightly so) and they can also expect better offers from UFC if they really want to move over to the big show. Which is one of the complaints supposedly of fighters currently on the UFC roster.

I think Eddie did the right thing standing up for himself and I think Bellator, given the circumstances, did the right thing to hold their ground. I'm still surprised UFC attempted to low ball Eddie though. I love Cung Le to death, he's my boy. But he earns something like 200k to 400k a fight and he's no where near the top of his division. Nor is he as storied a fighter as Wanderlei Silva or Hendo. Eddie would have been worth 100k coming into this IMO given the fact they knew they'd need to compete with another org for his services. And he's still a top ranked lightweight

But just my opinion

 2. is anyone going to watch Invicta this Saturday?
 3. yeah I watched the whole thing the other day. Some of those fights were pretty damned good
 4. yes folks that IS Miesha Tate's arm being bent back the wrong way.... I get she hated Rousey and didn't want to lose but she took some unnecessary damage by not tapping once she firmly had that hold. But that's MMA for you
 5. Ok update to my free mod. Someone awhile back had mentioned how the other zones in the game lacked any sort of real content, namely the outer space regions of the game. Well I went through and created some more characters to use in the game for those of you who want to start building cosmic level games. All of the new characters in this pack are based on Catholicon and if you read their respective bios then you'll see I've developed a little backstory to run with as well. Nothing major but its something to work with. The power levels are a bit higher than your normal zones in the game based on Earth because: this is cosmic, not Batman/Daredevil skull bashing-crime fighting action. Star Wars and Warhammer 40k influenced me for the new characters. I also retooled Tyrax from my original mod so he'd interact with the Catholicon population more. New total count: 22 Heroes 4 Anti Heroes 37 Villians and 7 wild cards. http://giovanni-wod.net/images/comichero/NewWorld1a.zip
 6. Ok this is probably the only one I'm going to do for this game and I'm finally to a point where I feel comfortable releasing it to all of you. Feedback is welcomed but constructive feedback. I did this for fun not to try and produce something to place on a pedestal. With that being said there are some notes to come with it 1) Several of the heroes and villains came from other sources that I worked on and many of the images were taken from older art pieces I had done for friends or just for fun. So all in all there are a few City of Heroes characters and a couple of people who tried out for the TV show Who Wants to be a Superhero. 2) The mod comes with several comic book locations that weren't overtly obvious (like I didn't include Gotham or anything like that) to add to the flavor and fun 3) There are a few real world locations because that's how I like to roll. 4) All of the pictures I posted that didn't get used plus dozens more are in the pack, many of them brand new. 5) The current spread is 19 heroes, 4 anti heroes, 33 villains, and 4 wildcards. Most of them seemed to have fallen between Prominent and Well Known. I think for the most part anyone who downloads it should be happy with it. If you can guess where the new locations are from let me know http://giovanni-wod.net/images/comichero/NewWorld1.zip
 7. I'm not referring to your post, or really any collection of your posts that I can think of (I do more reading than posting here) This is what brought it on : I've been seeing (what I personally believe) a lot of knee jerk, wide spread, reactions based more off of heresay and dislike than on fact. Granted what Daffanka was pretty tame compared to say.... trolls over at mmajunkie but that is why I decided to comment. I like coming here because people have universally (barring a few exceptions when things get heated or whatever) much better and more informed. So when I saw that comment it made me groan.
 8. I don't either but I'm not blasting all the whole org for the sake of being apart of the naysayers. There are things I dislike about UFC, but at the end of the day they have fighters I want to see and I'll tolerate/tune out that which I don't like. It's like as soon as MMA went mainstream every armchair quarterback came out of the wood work and thinks they 'know' whats right and whats wrong when in the end the vast majority of us don't. We're just consumers. And as consumers we have the right to not like something and/or support it but thats about it. I want him to defend it the whole way too. But just because he doesn't do it doesn't mean SF has to come out and explain, in fine detail, why exactly some things do and do not happen anymore than UFC/Bellator/Dream/etc. Nor does it mean Melendez's hard work to earn a title is trash, or Diaz, or Jacare, or Cavalcante, Cyborg, or even Coenen. We can disagree that the title should be defended each time, and we can not like it because it isn't, we can't just blindly hate on other things or people 'just cause'.
 9. Man I was just commenting today about how much these forums are much different than when I surf to news websites to read and see nothing but SF bashing. Yeah.....Ok so the titles are meaningless. Nevermind the fact that this could be an athletic commission? Or the fact that if Overeem doesn't win the first fight the title could change hands a few times -anyways- before the final bout? I mean I'm not thrilled about the decision but going so far as to just dump on all of the titles just because this wasn't to someone's liking is a shame. I guess thats why I rarely read comment boards anymore about MMA and stick to the news. All negativity in = all negativity out and I don't have the time to blindly hate on someone or something. That being said I'm still excited about Strikeforce's card and I'm really starting to get excited about the moves Bellator has made to get on TV (I need something to replace WEC with now that they are gone).
 10. heh yeah I know. But with his father being who he is and who he's fought I think Randy would give some interesting (if slightly biased) insight on how well he sees his son doing, especially in Strikeforce. And didn't Randy end up in the EA MMA game?
 11. yeah ask him how he sees his son faring in MMA thus far?
 12. Not disagreeing with that assessment. I actually feel bad now because it's like the Dream fighters come to SF to have their butts kicked. I came into this thinking "oh my god, Melendez makes a wrong move and it's lights out" and it was far from it. That was probably one of the most glaring points on the card I think. Not only was Aoki discredited to casual fans but seeing his idiotic butt cheek shuffle to goad Melendez down was sad. He was already winning. MMA isn't the Hot Gates of Thermopylae. If you can't beat them with your usual game plan then adapt or die. My comments were just more to the fact that in America it seems like we're trained to go for the big pops like in pro wrestling. The power bombs, piledrivers, neckbreakers, etc. In MMA it's the huge head kicks, hammer strikes, huge knee strikes, or whatever. I enjoyed the card and I wanted more. Could it have been better? Heck yeah it could have been. Aoki for the fail. Hendo could have done a lot more to be competitive in the fight too.
 13. I enjoyed it actually. A lot. But then again I'm not the type of fan who educates himself on KOs being the be all end all. Now I -did- expect more out of Henderson. And I don't blame SF for the riot at the end nor do I think they sent him in to spoil Shield's moment. Being a fan of wrestling for so long I simply saw $$$ and ratings to come from that. Not that I'd want all of my fighters pulling stupid **** like that. But it could definitely be used to benefit if they worked it right.
