  1. Hi everyone.

On my game, i have bought another company, which is now my Child Company. I dont see how i can change its Production Values, and therefore i cannot get them any broadcasting deals. The Company i currently doing around $50k profit per month (absorved my my mother company of couse).

If you run your own network, you can negotiate show contracts on it on their behalf. I just started a child promotion after toppling EILL from the top spot, and knocking them down to medium, and did exactly that. Start your own network, and negotiate a deal with them to air whatever you want. But you have to do it from the child company controls.

  2. I also advice using an angle. No one likes a match of a minute with the briefcase winner beating down a battered opponent. It's really more of a beatdown segment with selling. Unless it is effectively a match, in which case it's normal and you won't get penalized.

The late entry is for those matches with pre-match beatdowns where they eventually find their way to the ring.

Basically when interference happens that results in a match, which is accurate, as in reality, it DOES affect the flow. Of both the match, and the show.

  3. I've reached the point in my save where I've essentially surpassed EILL in Mexico. I'm winning the monthly battles, have more over stars, and am gaining ground on them in America.

I have my ppvs on Demand TV Mexico, and they also show on my small network, which I set as being a commercial internet network. My network is currently showing my ppvs outside Mexico to help boost my popularity in other regions and airing my b-show.

Canal Uno has a contract with me for 6 more months to air my main television program. I was thinking of phasing out my contract at LEAST with Canal Uno, and transferring coverage of my main show to the commercial network and setting up a a 2nd to run either a internet ppv or internet subscription for the ppvs and possibly ditching Demand TV Mexico.

What would be the better option to roll with as far as profitability?

I'm currently the 6th richest promotion in the world sitting at 19 million, but it would cost me 7 million to get out of my current broadcasting contracts. I don't really want to spend the money and would rather finish my contracts with both before jumping into this expansion. I'm just curious about which method of broadcasting would be better.

  4. I'll have to try those changes then. I have mixed up the angles and what they're rated on but I don't remember if I only get that if they are only rated on overness. Many of the default angles are setting you up for failure then if they only rate the worker on overness.

One thing I also forgot to mention is the AI is unusually excessive in 3 man tag matches and creating stables. Adam may want to look at the coding for when the AI does that. Virtually every WWF show has multiple 3 man tag matches and a ridiculous number of stables. They also have some strange obsession with pushing Virgil....

I also realize that these issues I'm having is a result of my own gameplay and not the game itself. I'm just trying to get some tips on how to better adjust to the gameplay of TEW 2020 because so far, it's been my most difficult transition.

The majority of that stuff comes down to promotion settings and product. AI shouldn't be booking trios matches unless it's it in the AI product settings to do so. As for the rest of the post, that too, comes down to understanding and booking based on your product. The product setup is different than in previous versions, but the basic formula for booking the game has not. It comes down to understanding what's required of your product and booking accordingly.

  5. This is the one thing I can answer with certainty. It's not a crap shoot.

If your angles are rated on ''overness'' they get penalised once they exceed 5 minutes. Basically, ''overness'' translates to the guy just standing there looking cool. :D

You have to change them to something else, like ''entertainment''. Somebody like Ric Flair should get consistently great ratings when it comes to entertaining angles

I've had them get penalized for even being 1 minute. So I don't do any overness related angles.

  6. So I've been trying to get into TEW 2020 since its release and I've found myself really struggling to grasp the gameplay and differences from TEW 2016. I'm sure the majority of the issues stem from my own lack of ability to adapt to the changes and I'm still running the game the way 2016 ran, but I will be open to suggestions how to turn the tide around and start getting some success.

So I'm running WCW in 1993 and I'm not doing very well. Matches and segments that should get solid ratings usually bomb or don't live up to expectations. For instance, a Ric Flair promo one show will get an 89 and the next show be a 69. I can't find any good reason for such huge differences other than Flair's gimmick rating, however, I don't understand if the gimmick rating is the deciding factor why he would get an 89 for one promo and not another.

I finally was able to decipher the issue of "not much going on" bullet point but it's still a crap shoot on when you get it and when you don't.

I've also signed some broadcasters to try and expand my viewership and gain popularity, which is really a struggle in this game. Often at the end of the shows, I will get notice that I gained popularity in 12 regions, but then I get red alerts stating "You would have gained popularity in 3 British regions but the viewership is too low to gain." Or something to that effect. I've tried searching everywhere but I can't find anything about this and why I'm getting it or how to improve it.

I'm also having a really hard time gaining company popularity. My shows are increasing popularity in my home region but it just seems to keep falling. I'd have to look at the business and which way the needle is going but if I'm gaining popularity from my shows, I should be moving up despite the trends.

Similarly, Sting (and others) keeps losing popularity for some reason. He's now dropped to 70 popularity in the US despite him continuing to be booked strong and win matches. Sting started the game out in the 80's. I have no idea why he (and others) are continuing to drop in the popularity. Due to this unknown drop in popularity, I've failed the owner goal of keeping his popularity at or above 71 and now am running the risk of getting fired.

I've never really struggled at the TEW games to this extent and it's really caused my eagerness to play to wain. My gimmicks also keep bombing as well despite being a 6/10 for the skill that impacts the success of gimmicks. Anyone that has any suggestions, let me know because so far I'm really struggling here.

Storylines, gimmicks, momentum all play into people's overness besides match outcomes. Also, angles rated on overness are generally useless for booking purposes. They don't get anyone over, and hamper your ratings because effective "nothing happens". People are there to be entertained and see action. So if they aren't cutting promos or beating people up, really, nobody is gonna give a can of beans. Your best bet is to always have them involved in angles with someone else and having something else happen in the angle if they're gonna be rated on overness. Like, do a beatdown angle where one guy is rated on fighting, another on selling, and the other guy on overness. Having JUSt overness related angles are always going to bomb and give you notes that "nothing happened".

As for the falling overness in home regions, are you checking to see if you're losing any battles with other promotions? That's usually what causes popularity drops besides bad cards or region importance.

  7. Hi everyone, just looking for some help.

I ran my first show as a start-up company. All workers are on $30 per appearance. No travel costs or accommodation are paid for. I've just finished the first show where I used 18 workers, plus a ref, one announcer and a road agent.

I've checked the financials and my workers cost was $6,170 in total. $770 was basic pay (I'm assuming their pay-per-appearance money) and $5,400 in bonuses and perks.

Any idea what these bonuses and perks might be? I'm obviously running on a shoe string budget and don't want to proceed in case I bankrupt myself.

    Thanks.

18 seems like a large roster for a tiny promotion.

  8. Started small, and have made it to just about reaching big status in my Cornellverse game playing as a lucha promotion. I've been sniping talent from various places. Primarily OLLIE and EILL. I managed to lure away several top talent and have gotten Mr Lucha, Multimillionario, and El Heroe Mexicano to 90+ overness. My main focus is getting to the point where I can take down EILL and dethrone them from the top spot in Mexico, and then hopefully move on to conquering the rest of North America. I had my first ppv in the 90's just recently. So hoping to build on that. My shows have mostly been the 70's and 80's, with a few duds here and there which is to be expected since nobody hits it out of the park every week, and I routinely see the AI booking lower rated shows for the big 3 rather often.

Right now USPW and SWF have been dominant. TCW fell to medium which is where CZCW is now. USPW doesn't look like it will be able to sustain its titanic status forever. Their roster is looking pretty aged. While they've been sniping talent from TCW and SWF, the two don't seem as plagued by an aging roster. I'm watching to see when USPW drops off.

  9. Campeonato de Taza de Templo LFW (Temple Cup, annual tournament): Silver Tiger

Campeonato de Lucha Maya LFW (2nd tier singles title): Payaso Jr

Campeonato de Lucha Aztecca LFW (main event title) El Heroe Mexicano

I'm a year and a half into a save with a lucha company called Lucha Future Wrestling that I started at small, and have worked almost to being a big sized promotion. Trying to get my foothold in America.

  10. Yes and I think preciously this has been mentioned (in previous TEWs)

People start to worry when they see penalties and think they’re doing something wrong, rather than a match with an announcer penalty being better than a match without one

Personally, based on how announcers are told to perform, I can't stand them IRL. One reason why I always enjoy house shows more. You have fans who genuinely want to be there, and engage in the matches, and you don't have all the pandering, distractions, and BS chants that come with fans trying to be the star of the show and get on TV. Best of all, no crappy announcing to detract from the match.

  11. Not sure exactly how the penalties work for announcing but I get them a lot and they don’t seem to effect the rating too much.

I suppose it’s like you have Michael Cole announcing a 50 rated match. No penalty. But you have him announce the main event at wrestle mania and the difference between him or Jim Ross in his prime makes a difference.

When I re watch the attitude era stuff, it makes me realise how much of a difference they do make.

Jim Ross is overrated. Gordon Solie also wasn't God's gift to announcing either.

  12. I'm running a small promotion, 12pts away from becoming Medium. I'm running an afternoon timeslotted show on La Red de La Lucha and despite my worst card being rated 50 back in January (I'm in June now), and having cards primarily in the 60's and 70's, I can't get out of the afternoon timeslot. Early evening and Evening timeslots are both expecting minimum cards lower than what I'm producing. So I should have no problem meeting this requirement. Can someone explain why they won't change my timeslot? I'm meeting the minimum requirements for production. Do I need to increase production to change timeslots?
  13. This has really been bothering me. I didn't seem to have this problem in previous versions. But I'm running a lucha promotion in Mexico in the cornelleverse, where the emphasis is more on ring work than characters. My core product is classic lucha libre, and my current product is fast and furious. Yet, when I look at OLLIE, and others, they're scoring cards in the 70's, and mine have been in 40's and 50's.

I'm using most of the same talent. Yet I can't figure out why the match ratings and cards are so low comparatively.

  14. I do both, depending on whether the story continues or ends.

As an example, Austin vs HBK in 98 would end at WM XIV when Austin wins the title.

The next storyline about Austin’s rein would probably transition through Dude Love (who would split off and start a storyline against the Undertaker for KOTR) and into Kane and then Undertaker. That would be one long storyline for me, probably ending when The Rock wins the title during the Deadly Games.

In 99 I’d probably transition the Austin vs Rock storyline into Austin vs Taker as part of the Corporate Ministry storyline. I’d probably remove the Rock from the storyline and put him in a new one with Triple H.

This is pretty much what I do. I spend a few months on a series of storylines, and sometimes I'll weave them in together. Such as making the technicos and rudos team up, or forcing the characters in the feud to team up, and maybe have one cause a miscommunication, or have him abandon his teammate, or help him get the loss by turning on him. I run my storylines pretty aggressively, but they never run longer than a few months.

  15. I made a modification to SMW88's version of Xtinction for my own purposes, and thought I'd share it here. I wanted to keep some of the original incorporated into the design. So I added the X's.

Also made a small edit to his Chess Maniac as well. Making it more white colored, and added to the eyes, to give it more of a "see through" style screen look. Also lightened his skin tone a bit.
