New fan of the series here. Been playing a ton of 2013 as well as WS3 (The ones over on Steam). It's clear to me I"m going to want to move up to a more recent version. Can I get some detail on the differences between 16 and 20? Would it be worth it for me to jump right to TEW2020 since I never played 2016 and thus dont have any long running save file?

I would buy 2016 if you are looking to fantasy book to any degree.  I've tried to get into the demo of 2020 multiple times and I just can't.  I'm of the opinion that 2020 tries to control how you play the game too much.

  11. As much as I've played this game since 2016 I had never had an employee die. I'm running NWA in 2020 and I'm in the 2nd month, May, and I get a notification that Shaun Ricker (Eli Drake) has passed away.

I'm really a sandbox player, so I turn off death and injuries most of the time. I've noticed though, that when I have them on the saves either seem to have a lot of deaths and injuries or very few.

  13. Using a converted database to try to get into 2020 and one of the things that has bothered me is the number American workers that get hired by foreign companies. This is particularly important with regards to female wrestlers as there are so few at this time, and I always play with a woman's division. While the hiring of foreign workers has been addressed elsewhere, I thought I'd post a few things I've changed in my data before starting up a game. These changes help address the woman's wrestling situation and the foreign workers situation to some extent. (To the best of my knowledge, and admittedly limited research, each of these are historically accurate.)

Sherri Martel - is set as retired, but I mark her as active and occasional wrestler

Make the following inactive in Mexico: Judy Martin, Wendi Richter, & Susan Sexton

Add Patera Surena as a worker and give her a CMLL contract

Add CMLL contract for Irma Aguilar

Add CMLL contract for Lola Gonzalez

Add CMLL contract for Martha Villalobos

    Add CMLL contract for Zuleyma

Add Cynthia Moreno & Ester Moreno as a workers for Mexico & Japan

Edit: Unrelated to the above, but I also add Toru Tanaka as a retired worker to make the WWF tag title lineage show that he and Fuji were three time champions. Throwing it out there as a mainly WWF player.

  14. But there's just something about the game that keeps pushing me away. I appreciate some changes, but for every positive change, it feels like the game has two things that annoy me. It feels difficult to get things done, and playing the game actually feels like work, as opposed to having fun - which is what I'm after.

I always feel like such an outsider when people talk about using Excel for their TEW savegames, keeping notes, having these elaborate plans, haha. I just play and book. I have some stuff in my head, but I really just paly for fun. I guess this is a big reason why 2020 just doesn't jive with me that much; a lot of people over the years have complained about TEW games being too easy. I've never had this issue because I've never played TEW for the any kid of challenge it may or may not provide. It's just been this fun way to kill time, really. But I think 2020 aimed to address a lot of the things about the difficulty that have been brought up.

I just read that it takes someone 30 minutes to book a show in 2020 - and I'm assuming this is someone who quite enjoys the game. This is so foreign to me since I could never enjoy it taking half an hour to get one show done in a TEW game, but it goes to show me that perhaps I'm just not in the target audience. This is aimed at the hardcore gamers of the series. And that's fine. Not everything is geared for everyone, that's just how it goes.

I'm also a no on the game at this point. I may buy it later after I see what improvements are made, what mods come out, and how well they play, but as of now, I'd like to echo the sentiments of this post.

  15. <p>Downloaded this and started AEW a little early. I just had my first show and it went pretty well. I think the data looks great, and I didn't find any major issues on my end.</p><p> </p><p>

Were you considering adding more workers for the full release? If so, I'd love to see some of the great joshi stars added (Aja Kong, Manami Toyota, and Meiko Satomura in particular). Either way, great job and thank you for putting in the work!</p>

  16. I'll take a look at Mad Maxine tonight. If I can find enough info I'll get her added.

As for Wendi, I'll do some tests with bumping her popularity up. I do know she was one of the biggest stars of the era so she should definitely have pop indicating that.

I'm glad you are looking into this. As someone who always plays with a woman's division I'm always in favor of adding female workers.

I also agree that Richter's popularly is underrated in the mod. Though, if I remember right, this was one of the easier mod's to get the woman's division over in.

  17. This is one of my two favorite mods from 2016. One of the things I liked about it was that there weren't a lot of pre-set bad habits. I hope that you consider going easy on those as you develop this mod.

I converted the 1991 mod to see how the new game works and in my first two shows I had 15 negative incidents which took my backstage rating from 89 to 28 and led to one person handing in their notice a few days later. It's not a whole lot of fun for a fantasy booker like me.

Just my two cents. Thanks for taking on this task. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

  19. Seems a bit inappropriate doesn't it? There's a few new features, like products, that make it seem like it's "this is my game, you play it how I think it should be played" and that entry seems to point that way. I can tell you I always stopped pushing people in decline but because I enjoyed doing that, it kept my rosters fresh if I gave myself the rule of having to stop pushing guys in decline, sorry if that offends the person I gave money to to play his game lol.

It almost feels like this game is about stopping people having fun and it's time to start doing things properly lol

    Agreed!

I kept trying to think of how I could say this, but since you did such a great job, I'll just quote you.

  20. <p>I've played TEW since the 2005 version. I was one of the "release date buyers", but I won't be buying 2020 on the release date and maybe not at all.</p><p> </p><p>

I agree with almost everything that's been said about the look of the game. I also share the disappointment expressed by many about some of the game play features (in particular products). Since they've been discussed pretty in depth, I won't rehash them, but I wanted to add my feedback to the thread.</p><p> </p><p>

I'd actually quit playing my last save on 2016 a few weeks ago because I wanted to save some of the ideas I had for that save until I could play 2020. Tonight I reopened the 2016 save and played it. This definitely wasn't the reaction I was hoping for, or planning, the day after beta release day.</p>
