I'm guessing Shane may need to establish himself just a little more before he grabs the brass ring, but at his age he may start some light time decline any time now, so this may have been his last grasp for the top strap. And especially now with guys like Austin in the mix, it feels like only a matter of time before the hell he raises gives him the big gold belt. Once that happens, someone like Shane just feels like small potatoes. Even Rey holding the belt feels like a placeholder now until you drop it on a transitional heel and then Austin takes it from there. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'm honestly intrigued to see how Bret handles The Hellraiser. It's very tempting to strap the title onto Austin and push him to the effin' moon, but the way Bret's WCW is built, I don't think they really need him much. </p><p> </p><p> I can see Austin fighting with a parade of mid- to upper midcard heels before he finally makes it to the title hunt, and with the amount of young talent that's in the company, it might take a while. </p><p> </p><p> I echo your surprise at none of the titles changing hands, though. I thought for sure the US title was headed to Canada.</p>
