thanks. i mean, i presumed that. but in my advanced age, i rarely trust my presumptions any more...

dumb dumb question
so, i've had a hectic week or so, and missed the last few updates...
do i need to update all of them, or only the most recent?
-
1. following up on what i did with Gino Hernandez - i told Vince that i didn't want to be tied down with a two-year contract. so he countered with a nice pay-per-appearance deal, which i leaped to sign.
in my first match on the deal, i teamed with Sika and George The Animal Steele to defeat Ivan Putski and Tony Atlas.
that reminds me - it seems to me that WreSpi books a LOT of 3-on-2 type matches. is this a flaw?
2. the Ring of Honor show was long, but kicked ass. i actually haven't missed an east coast show since 3/13, and i've been at every show since 8/7. that streak may end on 4/2 though, with an impending important fantasy baseball draft.
3. Socko's linked site looks cool. man, i'd love to do something like that, but alas, i don't have those skills. lol

yea. i still haven't decided yet. i'll probably think about it and deal with it tomorrow, as i'm heading to the Ring of Honor shows in New Jersey in a few hours...
the Fed even offered him the deal as a mid-carder. this, despite the fact that Atlas badmouthed Gino to the powers that be....such temptation, just to see how it would work, but you're probably right in the fact it goes against his free spirit nature...

so, i'm Gino Hernandez.
and i got bored in WCCW, so i had him quit. and he signed a whole punch of pay per appearance deals with various indies. and also a try out deal with the WWE.
Gino took on Tony Atlas, and was kicking his ass, but eventually got DQed. still, the best match of Gino's career.
i was looking forward to guiding him into matches with Dusty and Flair and Race and such, but the $4800 per month deal that the WWE is offering me seems like it might be too good to turn down...i presume if i take it, i'll have to cancel all my other deals..

re the sunday morning show - i just got confirmation that those shows were taped Friday nights at the Sportatorium.

Heh. I've been using this internet tag for years. In all that time, you are the third person to get the reference.
come on. legit?

Thank you very much for the information on World Class, Tree; it is much appreciated.
Living in El Paso for a few months in early '86, I could have sworn the show was on Sunday mornings at around 11AM. I really wish I had been around to catch the 2 hour shows.
Speaking of Hernandez... he was always a favorite of mine. When I did move down to Texas, I was very excited to finally get to see the guy on a regular basis after watching him years earlier when he was in Detroit and Southwest.
I ended up catching one show - a reshowing of the card earlier in the week where he blinded Chris Adams. That, of course, was the weekend before his death.
Figures.
you are not remembering incorrectly. there was indeed a Sunday morning show as well - i don't know what day it was taped on, but it was a one hour progam that came from "the world famous Sportatorium" in Dallas. that's the show most people outside of the DFW Metroplex remember.
But it was the Monday Taping that aired on saturday night that was the big local show.
and Gino's death - like many of those in World Class - was a true tragedy. too much, too fast for him. and his death cheated us fans out of what was no doubt going to be a crazy hot angle.
of course, D. Boon's death was even more significant, but that's another story all together...

good lord...
...this is the greatest thing ever.
as someone who grew up in the 70s and 80s in Ft. Worth with WCCW, i am blown away by this. Today, i am Gino Hernandez - The Handsome Halfbreed.
two notes: Marc Lowrence, the WCCW announcer who's picture is missing, was a substitute teacher for one of my classes on 7th grade. i marked out.
also - not a complaint, but rather a historical accuracy thing. WCCW had Monday night TV Tapings. these were for the show that would air for two hours on Saturday night on Channel 11.
off to download 1.2!

the thing with Sabu is that he was a damned good wrestler, who started taking more and more crazy bumps, and as a result, his body broke down REALLY fast.
i've seen interviews with him where he talks about how he did a crazy bump in ECW, and Paul Heyman was like "did you see the crowd go nuts for that?? do it again!"
and each week, the ante got upped, until it became impossible for Sabu to do anything other than something insane, because if he tried to actually wrestle, the crowd woulda crapped on it because they ewere expecting something else, namely, a guy slowly killing himself.
