  1. I've had similar experiences with odd booking. When I started a career as Blade Runner Sting, about 7 of my first 10 matches were against my tag team partner, Blade Runner Rock. That's just a little too odd.
  2. Sweet! Looks like it's time to start another new game! Thanks for all your hard work on this mod. I'm really enjoying the chance to relive the days when I loved wrestling.
  3. Heh, looks like a struck a nerve with the Jake the Snake thing! Yeah, I was very young back in those days. I vaguely remember him in WCCW for a bit. I mostly remember him from his WWF days though. I was a preteen (maybe very early teen) at the time and whenever a heel did something to totally degrade a face, we went crazy. But hey... I thought George the Animal Steele eating turnbuckles was the coolest thing.
  4. Your logic on how to handle the Von Erich boys' contracts sounds pretty solid to me. David should be able to sign else where but I can see Kerry being a WCCW exclusive. His WWF career was nothing to speak of. I haven't really used the alternate backgrounds. I don't even notice backgrounds. I'm pretty focused on the actual gameplay. I do like some of the old school move pics though. Oh yeah! I was thinking (I'll try not to hurt myself)... maybe a move could be added to Jake the Snake's moveset. I remember he used to put his boa (was it called Damien?) on wrestlers after beating them. Maybe that could be worked in somehow? I remember when I was a kid we went crazy over that.
  5. How does that work with David though? IIRC, he died when he was doing a tour in Japan. I don't remember which fed he was working for but he was wrestling outside of WCCW. I think (not positive though) that Kerry was the only one to ever work for the WWF. At that point he was just a shadow of what he used to be. EDIT: Oh yeah, thanks for looking into the stat issue. It's good to know that Adam is working on it.
  6. Totally agree with you on this D. Boone's Ghost. I'm glad you're looking into it. I enjoyed Tiger Mask in that match but I wonder how many of his moves I wouldn't have been able to use after the stat drop. Also, I found a possible typo in a wrestler profile. I was checking out the Von Erich scene in WCCW and both David and Kevin are reffered to as the eldest of the Von Erich brothers. Kevin was the oldest, right? If David was the oldest I could understand Kevin becoming the oldest after David's death but I don't think that's the case here. I'm not positive but that's the way I vaguely remember it.
  7. I've come across something strange. I've been starting games with different wrestlers until I find one that suits me. Yesterday I started a game using Mick Foley. After wrestling 1 match, his Toughness dropped 6 points. I figured I must've done something wrong and thought nothing else of it. Today I started a game with Tiger Mask. After wrestling 1 match (B- rating), I look and see that his Speed has dropped 16 points! So I look at "Expert Opinion" and it says that he's "reached his peak" for Speed (75). It seems like the game is knocking down various stats on these guys. Any ideas?
  8. It's not really the power of the move that concerns me, it's how easily the computer seems to land it. I'll be dominating the match for the most part and then the computer opponent will put together a decent little string of moves, nothing serious. Then he hits a Leaping Piledriver, I use my Spirit Points to help me kick out, then he hits it another 1 or 2 times with no other moves in between. I have a hard enough time hitting a finisher once, nevermind 2 or 3 times in a row without a setup. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely loving this scenario. It's boosted the fun factor of Wrestling Spirit through the roof for me.
  9. I've been talkinging to everyone and taking the working out/look stunning route. It was just going MUCH slower for me in Superstar mode using DOTT. I'm still thinking it has to do with the "nice" level. In Rookie to Legend mode, you always start off as Very Nice. In my current game, Sting is just "nice". Sabu was "normal", IIRC.
  10. I've had the same thing happen where my try-out opponent who puts me over becomes my friend but I haven't made friend backstage like I'd do as a created rookie to legend wrestler in the default data. Very strange! Is it possible that it has to do with how no matter how nice you are to people, your abrasive/nice rating doesn't change? EDIT: As soon as I posted this, I checked relationships and I've finally made a friend. Jim Cornette is my friend now. After 1 1/2 months, I finally got a friend.
  11. Is it just me or is it harder (almost impossible) to make friends if you're starting a game using a wrestler from the scenario rather than doing your own (Rookie to Legend). I never tried Superstar mode with the Cornellverse data, so I don't know if it's a Superstar vs Rookie to Legend thing. I've played about a month with Sting today and I haven't made one friend.
  12. This is an incredible update! I grew up watching this stuff and it's still got a place in my heart (even though I rarely watch wrestling anymore). I watched wrestling religiously from 83-90. I'm on my 4th try taking a different wrestler. I've started over with each new version (and maybe once just because). I've tried Benoit, Muta, Sabu, and now I've started a game with Sting. It's much more difficult than the using the Cornellverse data! My biggest problem is getting hit with a Leaping Piledriver (and then losing) after dominating most of the match. Maybe next time I'll take somebody from WCCW. I was a huge WCCW mark growing up.
