  1. Nearing Summerslam 05. The year of 2004 brought many changes to the world of World Wrestling Entertainment. Good ol' Vinny Mac sold off the company. Shane is currently running the new primary developmental company MLW, and Stephanie has a women's only promotion that is acting as a feeder system to try to put women's wrestling on the map in the US.

Shawn Michaels won the World championship from HHH at Rumble 04, dropping it to Christian at Wrestlemania 20. Christian held it for almost all of 2004 before he dropped it to Booker T at Survivor Series. He's still champion almost a year later, currently feuding with Kane.

HHH and The Rock feuded much throughout the Mania season, going into King of the Ring where after a brutal Last Man Standing match, they showed each other respect and were both assaulted by Evolution, effectively kicking HHH out of the group and handing the reigns over to Randy Orton as Mark Henry and Mark Jindrak joined the group. This culminated in a War Games match at Survivor Series 2004, though The Rock was filming a movie so he missed it.

Rene Dupree is the prodigy of the red brand, looking at a 3rd IC championship run after a long feud with Mick Foley.

Jindrak and Henry have been the chief operators of the Tag scene alongside the Dudleys on Raw as well.

The Women's championship has had it's rounds. Since the save began, Trish Stratus has held it twice, Jazz twice, Molly Holly twice, Stacy Keibler 4 times (who I cheated and upped the stats of), and Lita 3 times.

    Over on the Blue brand,

Chris Benoit held the WWE championship from the Royal Rumble 2004 to the Great American Bash 2005, where he dropped it to best friend Eddie Guerrero, the two have not stopped fighting since.

Lance Storm is in his second US Championship run, currently running and hiding from The Undertaker with Dawn Marie at his side.

The WWE Tag Team Championship has seen some jumping around. The Self Proclaimed World's Greatest Tag Team mainly feuding with AMW over the strap, with a surprise inclusion of a run from Rey Mysterio and Bryan Danielson.

The Cruiserweight Championship has been held by seven different wrestlers since January 04, including 2 runs from Ultimo Dragon, and 3 from Tajiri.

  2. Currently, I believe that promises are only used for workers agreeing to put someone over. I would love to see an increase in use for these past just that by instituting booker promises. In my head the following promises would be available to help placate workers morale and even coerce them into agreeing to put someone over they usually wouldn't.

    1) Give them a title run

    2) Allow them to get their heat back after a loss or that they'll get their win back down the line.

I'm certain there are other potential promises that a booker can make, but those are the only two things my brain allowed me to think up at the moment.

What are your backstage rules? You got them waiting in a locked dog kennel until it's their turn to wrestle?

No drugs allowed, three hour pre-show arrival time, and I provide catering. And as a 0 pop fed, they should be happy I'm doing that!

Mills, Riley, and Oscar are all negative influences though which undoubtedly had a lot to do with it too.

  5. An excerpt from 'Lyons Den' the new autobiography from Scott Lyons

It had been a long time coming. I walked out of the financial advisor's office with a look of ambivalence on my face. I had left the wrestling business years ago. Retiring from my run on the indies in favor of taking care of my ailing father, something that was understandable to most I would hazard a guess at. I'd known that he had the money to accomodate a nurse, but I was stingy, and didn't want just anyone taking care of him and it wasn't like I was poor either, I could take care of him, move him into the house with my wife. The kids had long moved on, and my body couldn't take the punishment of the ring anymore anyway.

In December of 2019 he passed away. It is something we knew would be coming. So it was more of a dull pain than anything. I'm not going to bore you with the long or short of it. But throughout January I refound that love of wrestling, and I think my wife got tired of me sitting around the house. When the will was finished being read I was astounded. I knew we were lucky, my father always was cautious about money, making sure I had what I needed growing up while allowing me to chase my dreams.

I didn't realize he'd been stashing so much money all this time. No wonder he and mom retired so early. I'd heard rumors, come the middle of January about one specific company being up for sale. Despite not being in the business anymore I did still have some contacts in the industry, one even worked for the company in question and had been staying in touch with me pretty regularly even after he had joined the company in 2003. Man, that seems like such a long time ago.

Let me be clear, Floyd Goldworthy is a name the commands respect in this industry. He's one of the best managers I have ever worked with or against, and he was a big part of getting me booked around the indies as I got my feet wet in the industry. And he was constantly trying to get me to come back to the industry in the years after my retirement. Promising me less dates, that I would only have to work TV and PPV events, always thought I had an eye for the business. I remember talking to him and him saying he would see what he could do. A few days later, an unknown number called my phone.

Kyle Rhodes: "Hello, is this Scott Lyons?"

Scott: "Yeah that's me. Can I ask who's calling?"

Rhodes: "Kyle Rhodes, CEO of Total Championship Wrestling, I heard you were interested in buying the company?"

We agreed to meet, and that's why on January 31st I walked out of the financial advisor's office looking like I did. This was no doubt not what my dad had in mind when he ensured I inherited the money, but none the less. I'm back in the wrestling business, and there are some things that will need to be changed.

Note from the Author: Hello everyone, just a short snippet to kick us off here. I won't lie, I am mostly a CVerse newbie. I've dabbled but not much more than that. This is a database I converted from a save game one month in (hence the February start) when I decided to make my created wrestling promotion into a TCW developmental. But we'll learn more about how that comes to pass in the near future.

  7. So I know that we can filter out based on skills and popularity, but I would love to have the option to sort based on these things as well. Sometimes I want to be able to see the entire roster (specifically when looking at developmental guys) and see their skills/popularity all at once. It'd be nice to be able to see everyone in a bigger picture fashion which would help decide who gets called up, etc.
  8. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Historian" data-cite="Historian" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="51920" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>That's a fantastic write up, arwink. I echo a lot of what arwink had to say. He really gave a break down that is excellent and really captures a lot of my own process [though my show breakdown is different from his -- and that's not a bad thing -- it's just different]. I want to reiterate having a plan and persistence/consistency. I've had a couple of fairly successful diaries from a readership and community awards standpoint and I attribute a lot of that success/being well-received to the fact that I tend to be consistent and persistent. I have a fairly quick turn around (or used to, my turn around isn't as quick as it used to be) and I think that has helped. I also have kept the stories moving even if there isn't a lot of feedback. The feedback comes (and it can go) because readers have lives and schedules and stuff as well and they might not always have a lot of time to pop on and comment, but they'll still read. So don't give up if it feels like you're not getting a lot of initial feedback. People will read it and they'll comment or give feedback or participate or whatever it is that you're looking for.<p> </p><p> The only other thing that I really think is important:</p><p> </p><p> Have your voice. It's a cliche writer kind of piece of advice, but even on shows or in a diary I say write what you enjoy. I enjoy narrative pieces, so I tend to write them. I don't enjoy writing matches move for move so I don't do that because it's not fun for me. Writing a diary should be fun. Writing the shows should be fun -- even if some of it can be a little tedious. It's a hobby after all, something you're doing for fun in down time. So if there is a style of wrestling you like, write it. If three other people are doing a diary based on the company you want to do -- still do yours. Have fun with it. Let your imagination run wild. Tell the wrestling stories you like or want to tell or would want to watch.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> As someone who has written diaries in the past (never on this site), and occasionally wants to try to get back into it, this and Arwink's write up up above are both 100% fantastic suggestions.</p><p> </p><p> I would also like to add, don't be afraid to try new things. If the way you've been writing doesn't resonate, or it loses it's luster, try something new, it won't hurt to try it, and worst that happens is that it doesn't fit for you either and you try something else, or even take a couple days off from writing in general.</p>
  9. <p>Alright, trying to decide what to do with my first diary. I know the rule of thumb is 'whatever you will be most interested in writing' but I'm an indecisive human being, and regularly need help with this stuff. Lord help me. Created wrestlers are something that's going to be apart of the game regardless, as well as maybe renaming the avatar's. So, help me make a decision? Please.</p><p> </p><p>

  10. Would love to get things like development reports from my road agents and the like in developmental or the owner/booker. It'd be similar to opinions that get sent to the emails by other workers. "So and So works the crowd really well." Could even include chemistry changes "Such and Such really hit their stride in their match the other night."
  11. Booking in real life mods.

I am not too sure what I'm doing wrong. But in real life mods I cannot seem to get shows rated more than mid/high 70s. Is it a balancing issue? Is it a me issue? (I'm kind of willing to bet on the latter), I'm not sure if it's because I'm not quite following through on storylines, or have any hot storylines right now, but even my main event stuff only gets near 80s where as I see people getting 90s fairly regularly.

  12. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="HarmonyOfDissonance" data-cite="HarmonyOfDissonance" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47568" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So my promotions 'big event' is a two-shot called the All-Star Weekend, however, I have noticed that attendance is essentially sliced in half for these events, presumably because I'm running two right after each other. Is there a way to negate this? Would I need to record one? Or maybe playing around with the show importance would work?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Bumping this as it was towards the bottom of a page a few pages ago and may have just been missed.</p>
  13. Alright, long story short; I am now the owner of a brand new CWA. And I have no idea what to do with half the roster that I have absolved. CWA players, who's worth keeping, who should be canned. I was mostly interested in the TV deal, women's division, and the Canadian popularity. Thought about just running with CWA as a side promotion with their own brand, but I'm open to suggestions.
  14. I will say that I feel like this doesn't make sense. I get it may be there to prevent people from climbing up the ranks 'too quickly' but, I don't think that Ted Turner was really gonna care if Vince bought him out or if Bischoff did. I find the block of being 'too small' to buy a company from someone is a bit inane? They're looking to sell, I'm looking to buy. There's editor work arounds, by messing with my popularity, but then I don't get the actual boosts of buying the company either.
