100 years of (Wrestling) Solitude - 1945 Report

I am back!. I simmed ahead and the future looks rosy. In 1945 life got a bit dull with so many promotions stuck at roughly the small/medium border, so I am going to power through to 1950 when

the development/growth of national broadcasters start to make a difference. it looks like a couple of promotions could make it to Big size in the 50s, i hope.

After 25 years in game i am bringing this to a close. Most companies seem stuck at around the small/medium boundary and the AI seems incapable of spending money or picking good broadcasting deals. I have simmed through to 1949 and will probably sim to 1955 on the off chance that an american company has a decent run on a network.

I can see $4 wrestling having some unique challenges:

1) an open invitational match where someone from the crowd could actually win

2) a challenge to be the first wrestler to be poached by a bigger company

3) a mission to not be the bottom ranked promotion in the world.

1943 report

In 1943 Anthony Henry finally retires at age 55, he has a remarkable list of achievements - 4 x Wrestler of the year, 5 x Indie WOTY, 3 x Tag

WOTY (with three different wrestlers), 2 x veteran WOTY. He has also has eight individual titles and five tag titles for AOW, CWB, SPW & TWA.

One of the three superstars seen so far. Emerson Weldon also retires, inducted into the CSW hall of fame, one of the greatest female wrestlers so far.

In sad news Saita Kuroki passed away at age 63. SPW has collapsed to a shadow of their former selves, albeit a shadow with a $95 million

cash reserve. SFCW becomes the highest rated company but due to isolation it languishes as the #30 company. However their stars are rushing up the

Power 500 rankings.

Sam St Hubbins had a slightly lower profile 1941 although he still put on an 81 rated match. He signed a contract extension in January 1942 and promptly took a sabbatical before having four good matches in December. So he is unrated for 1942 but the 42 year old is still regarded as a major star by CSW

Beckett Byrd is one of the nearly men of the effganics universe. He had seven matches rated 80-83 with Sir Anthony Henry between 1929 and 1930, but the animosity of booker Slow Joe Boone led to him leaving SPW for CWB and CSW.

A succession of injuries weakened his arms and head before a badly herniated spinal disc in 1938 left him finished as a top flight competitor. He soldiers on but it can only be a matter of time before he retires to become a road agent.

He was CWB world champion from 1930 to 1933. He was also SPW nationwide champion and two time SPW South Eastern champion, he peaked as world number three in 1929.

For the last couple of years CSW & QCW have consistently put together the best shows, CSW 21 rated 70 plus in 1940. QCW have put out 20. No other franchise comes

close at the moment. These two look set to dominate pro wrestling in the 1940s, yet neither have had a tv show for at least five years.

CSW

CSW have several strengths, they are the dominant force in the lucrative Great Lakes Market (Sorry DPW), a $38 million war chest and have in Sam St Hubbins

and El Espiritu the two best male wrestlers on the planet. They also have Emerson Weldon, Tenley Londono and Gabriella Suarez, arguably the top three female

wrestlers in the world. Criminally they are only using Gabriella as a manager, she is more than just a 100 Sex Appeal hottie.

Their weaknesses are strategic: they appear to easily have the product to service a national broadcast deal but seem uninterested. The USA is running dry of unemployed

wrestlers so why aren't they investing in a dojo or performance centre?

QCW

QCW have pretty much been the dominant force in pro wrestling throughout the 1930s, so dominant no other Canadian promotion formed until recently. Owner, booker and

superstar Daniel Loiselle has had a succession of great matches against a slew of talented youngsters. However the irrepressible Loiselle is now 50 and it shows.

Therien, DeGrasse and Belizaire are all stars, but not major ones.They have no female wrestlers to call on and havent had a tv deal in a decade. With only 28 wrestlers

on the book and $120 million sitting in the bank surely it is time to found the L'Ecole Loiselle Performance Centre?

Super Villain or just a Rudo?

Super Villain is the 35 year old head booker of VLL under an exclusive written contract. From Mexico City in the Centro region he is a loner who plays

legitimate gimmicks extremely well. He is an entertaining Lightweight with world class entertainment skills (95+ on charisma, microphone and acting). His

phsyical abilities vary from the 60s to the 80s and his fundamentals are all 70 plus apart from selling. His primary skills are all in the 40s and 50s. His biggest

weakness is a Star Quality of only 33 which might hold him back in a top rate company. He has booking skills rated in the 70s so it should help him but at the moment

he has a poor prize fighter gimmick.

He has not held any titles anywhere, maybe it is time for the Rudo to book himself stronger?

1940 saw the end of an era. Don Loomis passed away at the age of 74 and within a few weeks family members had sold a majority share

to Macho Inc. Chairman Martin Machon takes over as owner and he installs Ronnie Nickerson as owner.

The ABN is formed, within two years there will be three very small networks throughout the USA. May sees the launch of NIWC, the first

promotion in India. 1941 sees the launch of the fifth Lucha show in Mexico, LLPPN. Let the Lucha Wars begin!

I am playing a watcher game in the effganics mod and the AI appears to be suboptimal in three areas:

1) it is terrible at making sensible broadcasting deals, either doesn’t make the deal or makes a deal in an irrelevant region.

2) not forming child companies

3) not building/improving training facilities

Is there any chance please of creating a watcher mode so I can make strategic decisions for AI company, or failing that adapting the game editor?

Ocasio has refereeing skill of 90 and he is still in his thirties. However there are two rookie refs with similar skill levels so maybe his long reign may be coming to an end.
