  1. WCCW Championship Sports From Will Rodgers Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Worth, TX! Showing on local KTVT Ft. Worth-Dallas channel 11 and… Broadcasting on syndicated networks across the country! Brian Adias and Mike Von Erich versus The Long Riders In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, The Long Riders defeated Brian Adias and Mike Von Erich in 5:55 when Scott Irwin pinned Mike Von Erich thanks to illegal help from his brother Bill Irwin! It was a fairly closely match throughout, as both teams walked in with momentum, fresh off the heels of their own respective victories at the March Star Wars event. The Long Riders showed the fans their usual no bones style of wrestling, as they pulled no punches when it came to dealing with two of Denton County’s born-and-bred stars. Of course Adias and Von Erich had the crowd behind them the entire way, but the Long Riders proved to be tougher and meaner this time around, securing the tag win. After the opening bout, we cut to Bill Mercer alongside aforementioned winner’s of the last match, Bill Irwin and Scott Irwin, collectively known as The Long Riders! Mercer mentions their return victory against The Fantastics, a match in which the Irwin brothers once again cheated to achieve their intended result He also brings up their role in costing the Rock N’ Roll Express their tag team title match later in the night! The Long Riders blow off Mercer’s less-than-warm welcome back to World Class, and warn Mercer to mind his own business when it comes to the Irwin brothers’ affairs! They proceed with getting a simple point across to the fans: they are back to claim what is rightfully theirs, the NWA American Tag Team titles, which they refer to as the most prestigious tag titles south of the Mississippi. Mercer comes back into the conversation by blurting out that there is already so much great, action-packed tag team competition in World Class Championship Wrestling, which The Long Riders laugh off and claim there is no team that has the gully to stand in their way! Just as they passive aggressively threaten the entire roster, the tag team champs jump into the scene and get up in the face of the Long Riders! It doesn’t take much for Ricky Morton to express his disgust with The Long Riders, taking serious issue with their provocation at the Star Wars event in costing RNR their tag title shot! The Rock N’ Roll Express want revenge next week on Championship Sports! After a commercial break, we go back to Bill Mercer, this time standing with Jake Roberts, who appears visibly nauseous. Mercer asks Roberts if he’s alright before formally beginning the segment, by recapping the events which transpired at March Star Wars, culminating in Jake losing possession of his coveted $250,000 bullet-proof briefcase! Now in the hands of Gary Hart and his muscle, Hercules Hernandez, Jake he's losing his mind over the thought of losing out on a quarter-million dollars! He calls out the mysterious owner of the briefcase, whom Jake claims secretly gave to him when they must have placed it for him to find! He apologizes for losing it! “I promise you… mister mystery man… I will do whatever it takes to get that briefcase back into my hands… and I will protect it with every ounce of my soul! And Gary Hart! I hope you slept well last night! Because from every night here forward, brother, you’re going to be sleeping with one eye open, craven and curious if Jake “The Snake” Roberts is creepin’ in your midst! And you better bet Jack, that I’ll be right there waiting to snatch that puppy back from you before you know it! Hahaha! Sweet dreams Gary boy!” Chris Adams & Jake Roberts versus Hercules Hernandez & Jerry Blackwell In a good match, Chris Adams and Jake Roberts drew Jerry Blackwell and Hercules Hernandez in 7:47 following a double count out as the match devolved into complete chaos centered around the briefcase! It certainly was a barn burner from the start as Roberts came out guns-a-blazin’, attacked Hercules Hernandez before the bell even rings and he got inside of the ring, baiting out Herculez as Jake marched directly towards Hart and the briefcase. Roberts made his intentions very clear, he wasn’t focused on winning another professional wrestling match… he wanted his briefcase back! The fans ate it up as Roberts and Hart exchanged words while Roberts fended off Hernandez! Adams was left a bit adrift, but given his recent negative experiences with his former manager Gary Hart, he certainly wasn’t shy in joining in on the terror Roberts was imposing. This left Jerry Blackwell in an awkward position, but he was certainly happy to get his hands dirty and lay some attacks on “The Gentleman” Adams, calling back to their spat at the March Star Wars during the briefcase ordeal! Jake spent the entirety of the match simply trying to get the briefcase back, spilling to the outside on multiple occasions before the referee Rick Hazard had lost complete control. It appears Hazard had no choice but to start his 10-count before calling for the double count out for both teams, still battling around the ramp and ringside! This match result was beside the point, as Hart ended up waving the white flag and retreating with Hercules to the back, saving himself and his new briefcase to live another day! Back from another break, we return to find fan favorite David Von Erich standing alongside Bill Mercer for an interview. Sporting a flannel shirt and cowhide vest, with his patented cowboy hat, Von Erich starts by giving his nemesis Gino Hernandez and a few disparaging words! Von Erich insults Gino by gloriously referencing David’s victory over Hernandez and Jake Roberts to win the Lumberjack Ultimatum match! This time, however, “The Yellow Rose of Texas” has another ultimatum… This one appears to be directed at Gary Hart, and his client, Hercules Hernandez! “Gary Hart! You conniving devil! I hope you know what harm you’ve brought upon yourself since you decided to make yourself the lucky owner of that infamous briefcase!” And seemingly from left-field, David demands Hart put the briefcase on the line in a match between himself and Hercules! “That’s right you heard me exactly as I said it! Me and Hercules, Gary! You want to cower behind Hercules like a little girl hides behind her daddy, then you ought to have no problem sending him out there with me and putting that briefcase on the line!” “And just because I know you need a little incentive, Gary Hart, I’ll make the deal a little sweet for you, and just for you Mr. Hart… I’ll put it all on the line too! I’ll put my wrestling career at stake to rid this great state of Texas of that ridiculous briefcase! You hear me, Gary!? Your man beats me, I quit wrestling forever! In the prime of my career! That’s all it takes Gary! Me and Herculez, one-on-one, career versus briefcase! It’s everything you’ve ever dream of when it comes to getting rid of me! So what’s it gonna be Gary Hart! Are you man enough? Or as you just a brainless little chicken spit I always knew you were!?” NWA Texas Brass Knuckles Gino Hernandez © versus Terry Gordy In a storytelling bout, competed under hardcore rules, that had superb wrestling and good heat, Terry Gordy def. Gino Hernandez © in 13:28 by pinfall following a powerbomb, to win the NWA Texas Brass Knuckles championship! But, perhaps it was all only thanks to David Von Erich, who arrived for help at just the right moment to prevent Gino’s tag team partner, Chris Adams, from interfering and costing Gordy his title shot! Nevermind the finish, as the match itself was tremendous from a wrestling standpoint with both Gino and Gordy bringing out some of the best in one another. Despite his historical record with the fans in Texas, they treated Gordy as the babyface throughout the bout, cheering him on whenever he gained the upper-hand, directing their resentment towards Gino instead. Hernandez, the suave and cunning heel, used every trick in the book to gain an upper-hand of his own. He gouged at Gordy's eyes, choked him with a chain, and even delivered a low blow when the referee's back was turned! Gordy, the powerhouse of the duo, was undeterred by Hernandez's antics. He unleashed a ferocious assault, resorting mainly to his fists, leaving Hernandez battered and bruised. When the action spilled outside the ring, Gordy made it clear the steel guardrails were his weapon of choice, smashing Hernandez's body against them with bone-crushing force. It was noted by Mercer on the play-by-play that Gino was accompanied by his partner, Chris Adams, to the ring for this one, while Gordy, the former Fabulous Freebird, was notably alone. And just when it seemed like Gino had the match in his grasp, the audience erupted as David Von Erich made his presence felt. With Chris Adams lurking at ringside, ready to interfere, David confronted Adams, certainly preventing him from getting involved. Back in the ring, Gordy capitalized on the distraction. He hoisted Gino onto his shoulders and executed a devastating powerbomb, shaking the entire ring. The referee counted to three, and the crowd exploded with cheers as Terry Gordy was declared the new NWA Texas Brass Knuckles Champion! David Von Erich's timely intervention had not only secured the victory for Gordy but also foiled Gino Hernandez's plot to retain the title! The night certainly over there, when as Terry Gordy was celebrating his new title victory at the expense of Gino Hernandez. With fire in his eyes, "The Handsome Halfbreed" beckoned his ally, Chris Adams, to jump into the ring. The crowd held their breath as the tension escalated. In the blink of an eye, David Von Erich slid into the ring, joining Terry Gordy with his fists raised high in defiance. The fans erupted in cheers as the two sides stood face-to-face, ready for a potentially bloody battle. The energy in the arena was palpable, and it seemed like a powder keg ready to explode. However, the explosive moment arrived when Jake "The Snake" Roberts burst onto the scene, joining his dastardly Dynamic Duo partners in the ring. The action was chaotic, with the heels jumping back and forth between their targets, keeping Terry and David surprised and on the defensive. It looked like the odds were stacked against them. But just when it seemed like all hope was lost, the cavalry arrived. In a thunderous surge, Kevin, Kerry, and Mike Von Erich sprinted from the babyface tunnel to the rescue. The crowd erupted as the Von Erich brothers stormed into the ring, taking on the heels with unbridled fury! The brawl that ensued was chaotic, with bodies flying and fists swinging. The Von Erichs quickly overwhelmed their attackers, sending Adams, Hernandez, and Roberts scrambling out of the ring and toward the safety of the backstage area. The fans in attendance gave the Von Erichs a deafening ovation, showing their unwavering support for the beloved family. Security personnel rushed to the scene to ensure order was restored, and the heels were forcibly escorted out of harm's way. In the ring, the Von Erichs regrouped, checking on Terry and David, who had stood tall against the onslaught. The sense of unity and resilience was palpable, and the building reverberated with their triumph. As the dust settled, Bill Mercer closed out the program. He thanked all the passionate fans for their unwavering support, wished everyone a good night!

  3. WCCW Championship Roll Call NWA American Heavyweight Reigning Champion: Kerry Von Erich [5] (def. Gino Hernandez on 10/29/1984 in Ft. Worth, TX) Originally established as the NWA United States Heavyweight title in 1967, by patriarch of the title, Fritz Von Erich, the American Heavyweight title as it quickly became called by 1968 is usually thought of as the premier singles title in the Texas territory. Fritz Von Erich can be closest associated with the title, having won it twenty times in his in-ring career. Memorable bouts for Fritz involving the American Heavyweight title include the likes of: Bruiser Brody, Johnny Valentine, Ox Baker, Baron Von Rasche, The Great Kabuki, and many others. By 1978, a new generation of Von Erichs were crowned title holders, first by Kevin Von Erich, who won the title three times between ‘78 and 1980, followed by Kerry Von Erich earning his first title win at the end of 1980, substituting in for his injured brother to face Gino Hernandez after the belt was held up following a showdown between Gino and Kevin earlier that year. Fritz Von Erich won the title one last time in June of 1982, beating champion King Kong Bundy in his retirement match, and immediately vacating. A week later, Bundy was awarded the belt, leading to Kevin Von Erich winning it off of him in September. Kevin feuded with Terry Gordy briefly in late 1982, before the title was held up after a match against Jimmy Garvin in July of 1983. Their rematch just a week later saw Garvin earn the title, after which “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin made himself one of the biggest heels in World Class only second to the Freebirds throughout all of 1983 and 1984, during which his famous feud with “The Gentleman” Chris Adams took place. Gino Hernandez would eventually get his hands back on the title 4 years since his last run, dropping it to Mike Von Erich in a shocking loss, only to win it back a month later. Gino then lost to Kerry Von Erich a month after that in October of 1984, and “The Modern Day Warrior” has been the American Heavyweight champion for the past five months, one of the longest championship runs in recent memory for the belt. NWA Texas Heavyweight Reigning Champion: Gino Hernandez [4] (def. David Von Erich on 03/13/1984 in San Antonio, TX) Touting a longer lineage than the aforementioned singles title, the NWA Texas Heavyweight title has been around since its vague establishment in the 1930s, making it one of the oldest championships in the sport of professional wrestling today. Throughout many different eras of American history, the Texas title has remained a staple of Texas professional wrestling and is typically only defended in the borders of the Lone Star state. Ed McLemore’s Southwest Sports carried the title from the 1930s into the 1960s, operating shows in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio areas of Texas. After McLemore’s death, when Fritz Von Erich took over the territory, he would continue to highlight the Texas Heavyweight title as a preliminary centerpoint of his booking. David Von Erich’s first title win over Bruiser Brody in 1978 kickstarted a new era for the Texas title, as he would then begin a long two year feud with Gino Hernandez throughout 1978 and 1980 as the two battled over the belt. After the two traded the belt back and forth six-times in three years, David fell out of the title scene in 1981 as wrestlers like Killer Tim Brooks, Al Madril, Jose Lothario, and Bill Irwin al have reigns at very points in time. David would win the title again for a fifth time in 1982, beating Bill Irwin, eventually losing to Jimmy Garvin six months later in MArch of 1983. Garvin and David would run a program all throughout 1983 in which David won the belt another three times following consecutive title belt hold ups, eventually giving way to Gino Hernandez in March of 1984 before departing for Tokyo. Throughout 1984, Gino has remained champion, reaching the one-year mark of his reign in March of 1985, making this reign one of the most dominant in recent Texas Heavyweight championship history. NWA American Tag Team Reigning Champion: The Midnight Express (def. The Fantastics on 2/27/1985 in Dallas, TX) Similar to the original NWA American Heavyweight title, the tag titles were originally established as the NWA United States Tag Team titles in 1966, eventually changing over to their more well-known American Tag Team title recognition in 1968. And similar to the singles belt, Fritz Von Erich played an important role in the late 1960’s, establishing the tag title in his territory alongside the likes of Waldo Von Erich, Billy Red Lyons, Gary Hart, and many others. The title reached a period of inactivity in 1974, until Kevin Von Erich and David Von Erich won the titles against Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk in 1978, the first time the belt was fought for since it’s inactivity. Unlike other titles, however, the Von Erich family name is not incredibly frequent on the title history list since 1978, instead owed to many other successful tag team combinations such as Jose Lothario and Tiger Conway Jr., Mr. Hito and Mr. Sakurada, and Gino Hernandez featured with different assortments of partners. In 1982, the Fabulous Freebirds: Terry Gordy and Michael Hayes, won the belts in late 1982, and eventually lost in the summer of 1983 to Kerry Von Erich and Bruiser Brody in a much-anticipated match-up featuring the return of Brody to the territory. Unfortunately, an injury to Brody forced a them to vacate the belt, leading to a tournament in Detroit during which Roddy Piper and Bulldog Brower won the belts, only to lose it to the Super Destroyers a few nights later in Indianapolis. Returning back to Texas as the champions, the Super Destroyers began what can now be considered perhaps the most dominant few years in the title’s long history, highlighted by the famous reveal of the masked Super Destroyers to really be Bill and Scott Irwin in 1984 after losing to the combination of Iceman King Parsons and Buck Zumhofe. Since 1983, the Irwin Brothers have become four-time tag team champions, eventually losing to the Fantastics in October of 1984, leading to a brief hiatus from the Texas territory. The Fantastics,, earning their first tag title win in that match, have since become the most popular true tag team in the region, and were on their way to establishing themselves as the most dominant tag team in the region before losing to The Midnight Express in February of 1985 thanks to interference by their manager’s newest surprise client, One Man Gang! Unfortunately for the Midnights, however, the Long Riders (as they became to call themselves), Bill and Scott Irwin, are back in Texas with tag team gold on their minds and a chance to continue their historic run. NWA Texas Brass Knuckles Reigning Champion: Gino Hernandez (def. Jose Lothario on 6/4/1984 in Ft. Worth, TX) The Brass Knuckles title was specifically established for famous brawler Bull Curry in 1953, making it one of professional wrestlings oldest active belts. Curry was known for intense brawls that shocked the audience with it’s raw action, and he would go on to win the belt an incredible 27-times, with his final victory coming in 1969. As you can imagine, he became synonymous with the Brass Knuckles title, working the territory one an incredibly consistent basis defending the title all throughout the fifties and sixties. Following Bull Curry’s incredible 15-year run as champion, other stars like Jose Lothario, Blackjack Lanza, and even Fritz Von Erich frequently won the title, until Bruiser Brody first earned a reign in 1977 after defeating Big John in Houston. Brody would continue to win and lose the title throughout 1978, and 1980, with his last reign ending in December of 1980 after losing to Bugsy McGraw in the same city he first won the belt. Maniac Marc Lewin was a frequent foe for Bruiser, eventually winning his eighth title reign in 1980 as well. Since the early 1980’s, however, the belt’s frequency in use has declined slightly, but has featured champions such as the Great Kabuki, Terry Gordy, Chris Adams, and most recently Gino Hernandez, who beat Jose Lothario to win the title in June of 1984. For all intents and purposes, the Brass Knuckles title has always been known as the “hardcore title”, and frequently features bloody brawls and heavily officiated bouts. WCCW Television Reigning Champion: One Man Gang (def. Kerry Von Erich on 3/12/1985 in Dallas, TX) The Television title was established in 1982, adding another singles belt to the mix, mainly to be defended during television programming. The Spoiler, don Jardine, was the first champion, earning it in a battle royal in Ft. Worth, TX. Since then, many famous names in World Class have won the title, including Bill Irwin, Al Madril, the Great Kabuki, Iceman King Parsons, Chris Adams, Jimmy Garvin, Scott Irwin, and many more. In 1984, Kevin Von Erich was given his first reign with the belt after a DQ win over Killer Khan, but declined the title pending a rematch a week later. Their rematch would then end in a double DQ, leading to both wrestlers being barred from competing for the title ever again. Chris Adams began his second reign soon after that, losing to Jake Roberts in August of 1984, eventually winning it back a month later. Adams would then lose to Kerry Von Erich in January of 1985, who would then quickly lose the belt to One Man Gang in March of 1985. NWA World 6-Man Tag Team Reigning Champion: Kerry, Kevin, and Mike Von Erich (def. Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, and Jake Roberts on 12/31/1984 in Ft. Worth, TX) The six-man title was specifically established in 1982 to help flame the fire that was the Von Erichs and Freebirds feud. The Freebirds first earned the titles in December of 1982, giving them a prop to instantly solidify themselves as a big deal. They would then go on to trade the title multiple times with the Von Erich family, which featured multiple arrangements of family members, a stunning seven-times in just three years. The title is synonymous with the Von Erich and Freebird rivalry, and since the Freebird Buddy Roberts and Michael Hayes have since departed the territory, the Von Erich combination of Kevin, Kerry and Mike have remained champions, only losing it briefly in October of 1984 to the combination of Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, and Jake Roberts.
  4. WCCW Heels “The Handsome Halfbreed / Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez The “Handsome Halfbreed” from uppity Highland Park, TX, Gino Hernandez has been a household name in the Dallas area since the early 80’s. Hernandez was one of the first big rivals for David Von Erich, as the two competed over the NWA Texas Heavyweight title early in their careers. While David represented morale, wholesome values, Gino was the walking antithesis. For Gino, the only things that matter to him are more money, faster cars, hotter women, and perhaps if you know him more personally, a good time… That’s not to say Gino is some slouch in the ring, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Gino is also as respected as a wrestler as the Von Erich boys, and will stop at almost nothing to make sure even more respect is earned. But Gino is perhaps even more known for his promos out of the ring, where his mouth moves quick and his words silky slick, some comparing him to the great Ric Flair. Returning to the territory in 1984, Gino immediately linked up with Chris Adams to form “The Dynamic Duo”. The two have become perhaps the two most despised men in Texas today, known for collectively hitting the ring to George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone”. They’ve found themselves butting heads with the Von Erich family, and forming an alliance with Jake Roberts as well. By 1985, Gino was once again the Texas Heavyweight champion, and is now the target of the returning David Von Erich as the two once again spark their feud from years ago. Gino’s plan was to spoil David’s “Texas Homecoming”, where David’s first return to the World Class ring since early 1984 was to be celebrated with family, friends, flowers, and hugs. After successfully turning his return into a chaotic scene at the January Wrestling Star Wars event, Gino held off David all throughout February, using the help of his tag team partner Chris Adams to escape potential defeat at the big February supercard. In March, David (alongside Kerry) challenged Gino and Jake Roberts to a “tag team ultimatum match”, where David vowed to never challenge for the title again if he and his brother were to lose. Unfortunately, the power of the famous Von Erich Iron Claw was too much for Gino to handle anymore, submitting to lose the match and open up another opportunity for David to reclaim “his title”. Now, the two are on a collision course for another showdown. Can Gino continue fighting off David Von Erich, or will he eventually slip up and face defeat a final time? “The Gentleman” Chris Adams The other half of the Dynamic Duo, Chris Adams is an English-native imported to Texas where he is considered an international celebrity to the Dallas-faithful. When Adams first got his start in the territory, he became one of the biggest babyface stars in the promotion, only next to the Von Erichs. His first big moment came when he beat Jimmy Garvin in July of 1984 in a “Loser Leaves Town” match. In August, however, he would betray the Von Erichs and the fans by aligning himself with manager Gary Hart, turning heel in pursuit of title gold. This led to a program against Kevin Von Erich, highlighted by brutal wooden chair shots over the head, which led to the fans shouting ”Benedict Adams!” and ”traitor!” at every show. Adams got revenge in February of 1985, when he injured Kevin’s ankle thanks to help from Hercules Hernandez. But the latter would eventually sign on with Adams’ manager, Gary Hart, rubbing “The Gentleman” the wrong way. Despite Adams and Hart apparently trying to “work things out”, he would dump Hart as his manager in March of 1985, leading to a showdown against his new client, Hernandez, at the March Star Wars event. After Adams secured the victory, a familiar face entered the scene: Kevin Von Erich! Now, Chris Adams finds himself left aligned with Gino Hernandez and Jake Roberts, and now has enemies on two sides between the Von Erichs, and now Hercules and Hart. Can Adams survive a war on two fronts? Or has he bitten off more than he can chew? Jake “The Snake” Roberts Jake Roberts is perhaps the most misunderstood man in Texas wrestling today. If you ask Jake, he will tell you he is a kind man, with a simple soul and would never harm a fly. Ask any one of the fans at the Dallas Sportatorium every week, and they’ll tell you Jake Roberts is a cheat, a liar, and maybe psychotic. In late 1984 Roberts joined forces with Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams, but his world changed at the very beginning of 1985 when Roberts revealed he had discovered a briefcase, enclosed with supposedly $250,000, meant for him when he destroys the Von Erich family. When Roberts revealed his, no one believed it, but week-after-week Roberts obsessively brought this briefcase to the ring, and held onto it as if his life depended on it. Roberts has become relentless in his pursuit to understand where the briefcase came from, who planted it for him, and what he needs to do to get his two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The kicker? According to Roberts and company, the briefcase is impossible to open without the key, “the most indestructible briefcase ever seen”, according to Gary Hart. Perhaps that’s why Hart has become so interested in the briefcase, first claiming he was the one who planted it for Roberts. This earned him an attack from the latter, who ran the fake key down Gary’s head, leaving a scar for life! But perhaps Hart has gotten his revenge, when his new client, Hercules Hernandez, made off with Jake’s briefcase at the most recent Star Wars event in March. This has left Jake with no briefcase, and certainly without any peace of mind. Now, Jake is likely determined to get his briefcase back from Gary Hart, and continue his ultimate quest of destroying the Von Erichs for the sweetest pay day he’ll ever see in his life! "Playboy / The Manager of Champions" Gary Hart Gary Hart has almost become synonymous with World Class Championship Wrestling. As a manager, Hart joined forces with Arman Hussein to form The Stable of H. & H. Ltd, a dastardly villain stable that roamed the territory in the early 80's. Hart is also well known as the manager of The Great Kabuki, the greatest foreign foe in Texas wrestling history, with Hart by Kabuki's side during legendary bouts with the Von Erichs, including against Fritz. Recently, Hart became manager of Chris Adams, as Hart has worked tirelessly to make Adams a future World title contender. Adams, under the Hart, went on to win the NWA American Heavyweight and WCCW Television titles, but a World title shot has still eluded him. Hart got himself involved in the Jake Roberts/mystery briefcase situation, claiming he was the one that planted the briefcase and had the key all along! That key he held, well, it didn't open the briefcase, but did open a wound on the head of Gary Hart thanks to psychotic efforts of Jake Roberts! While Hart's lies about his role with the infamous briefcase caused issued with his client, Chris Adms, their relationship became even more strained following the reveal that Hart was going to manage Hercules Hernandez. This became the final straw for the Adams/Hart relationship, with Adams dumping Gary Hart in front of a live audience on WCCW Championship Sports in March! This led to a showdown between Hercules and Adams at the March Star Wars event, but although Hart and his client Hercules lost that affair, they may have walked out of the show the real winners after all when Jake Roberts' briefcase fell into their hands... “Macho Man” Randy Savage One of the most impressive newcomers to the Texas wrestling territory, Randy Savage is the son of Angelo Poffo, and has always been considered an outcast in the professional wrestling industry. Not only because his father was the head of outlaw promotion, ICW, but Savage’s personality maybe even too big for the big screen. Savage’s in-ring style may even be considered outlaw, in some regard, having shown incredible work rate early in his career and putting many of his opponents to shame in terms of shere technical ability and in-ring prowess. Having got his start in the NWA in Memphis, Savage has now tested his talents in Texas and has done quite well so far. While many of his victories may be through doubtful means, it’s hard to question when Savage’s arm is raised due to his typical showings in the ring that make every match feel winnable. Since joining at the start of the year, Savage has made a solid impact in the ring so far, and has even begun referring to himself as “The Macho Man”, a moniker he’s seemed to have come up with himself. One thing has been made clear so far, Randy is determined to prove himself to be not only the best wrestler in Texas, but the entire world! Hercules Hernandez In just a few short appearances, Hercules Hernandez has become one of the most hated men in the World Class territory, no small part to his new manager, Gary Hart. Hernandez is a powering figure, with a great physique and good movement in the ring. While this offensive arsenal is a bit limited, his charisma is not. Hernandez paid his dues in Mid-South Wrestling, before joining World Class in early 1985. While his debut was subtle at best, Hernandez emerged as a new face to reckon with when he joined forces with Gary Hart. Unfortunately for Hart, this would lead to grievances with his other client at the time, Chris Adams, but not before Adams and Hercules injured the ankle of Kevin Von Erich on a late February edition of WCCW Championship Sports. Heading into March, however, as Adams and Hart broke apart, Hercules stood by his new manager's side and has now taken up issue with Adams. The return of Kevin Von Erich at the March Star Wars event could spell trouble for Hercules, but perhaps he can find solace in having recovered the infamous briefcase from Jake Roberts and may now soon be a quarter of a million dollars richer... The Midnight Express The tag team of “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey has become one of the most hated duos in Texas wrestling history, no small part played by their manager, Jim Cornette. The young and brash Cornette will be the first to tell you how great the Midnights are, and how they are the greatest team in wrestling history. Whether that’s the case or not, is yet to be determined, however the Midnight Express helped their case when they effectively stole the NWA American Tag Team titles from the former champions, the Fantastics. Entering March of 1985, The Midnight Express are now not only a very talented and experienced tag team, but also the tag champs. But how will they fair now that the collective tag team targets are now on their backs, and they find themselves walking as the prey and no longer stalking as the predator? Good news for them, a new insurance policy is in place. Manager Jim Cornette has now aligned himself with the One Man Gang, and the Midnight Express are reaping the benefits early. One Man Gang To call One Man Gang intimidating would be an understatement. But perhaps it's also his position on the WCCW roster that is real understatement, as the One Man Gang has recently become WCCW Television champion after aligning with new manager Jim Cornette, and also played a critical role in ensuring Cornette's tag team became the new tag champs at the February Star Wars event. No matter what it is, one this is for certain, OMG is a force to be reckoned with and should never be taken lightly.
  5. WCCW Babyfaces “The Yellow Rose of Texas” David Von Erich David Von Erich is the second-oldest son of Fritz Von Erich, owner and promoter of World Class Championship Wrestling. David is tall, standing at six feet and eight inches with long, dirty blonde hair, and seemingly never backs down from a fight. Despite his size, David moves fairly quick in the ring, and tends to also get up for big drop kicks and flying crossbodies at almost every opportunity. After unsuccessfully challenging Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight championship, David went on excursion to Japan, until returning at the January 1985 Wrestling Star Wars event. Upon returning, David’s homecoming was almost tear-shedding, as the Texas-faithful were all happy to welcome back one of their own. Not so ready? “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez, and his colleagues Chris Adams and Jake Roberts. Gino has held the NWA Texas Heavyweight title since June 1984, when David vacated it to leave for the Orient. But now, David is back, and he wants his belt too. He failed to win in his returning singles debut against Gino for the title at the February 1985 Star Wars event, thanks to interference at the hands of Gino’s tag team partner, Chris Adams. In attempts to convince Hernandez to give him another title shot, David was willing to bet if he couldn’t beat Gino, against Jake Roberts as well, alongside his brother Kerry, he didn’t deserve to challenge for the belt ever again. Unfortunately for the champ, David and Kerry were victorious, and now David has his sights set on another epic showdown with Gino Hernandez, as the upcoming Parade of Champions event to be held from the world famous Texas Stadium in May! “The Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich Kerry Von Erich is perhaps the most famous of all the Von Erich brothers, having already frequented challenges for the NWA World Heavyweight championship, including much lauded matches against the likes of Ric Flair and Harley Race. One likely reason for that may be both Kerry’s excellent working rate in the ring (he is typically regarded as the best worker of all his brothers), and his incredible physique. Since high school Kerry has had all of the girls lining up for autographs and many college scouts interested in his talents, but for Kerry, the only future education he has been interested in is in the ring against the world’s best professional wrestlers. Kerry is mighty and quick, and typically showcases his strength by lifting his opponents up high for body slams and knocking them out cold with waking discus punches. Known for his incredible amateur discus throw Texas state records, Kerry is a well- currently the NWA American Heavyweight champion, carrying on his father’s legacy of the belt. Kerry has been forming a legacy of his own, however, with perhaps the biggest highlight of his career coming on Christmas Day in 1982, when his challenge against Ric Flair in a steel cage match was interrupted by Terry Gordy of the Fabulous Freebirds slamming the cage door in the face of Kerry! This was after the Freebirds offered Kerry help to beat Flair, but Kerry refused, not interested in cheating his way to victory. This would spark the now famous Freebirds/Von Erich feud of 83/84, in which the Von Erichs would walk out on top, even despite the departure of brother David. Entering 1985, it may be just a matter of time before Kerry is on his way to another world’s title shot. But for now, he finds himself in the crosshairs of wicked forces in World Class wrestling, including the likes of Jake Roberts and Manager Gary Hart, both determined in their own right to destroy the Von Erichs and remove them from their position of power in professional wrestling. Kerry continues to carry the family name on his shoulders and works tirelessly to ensure the prosperity of the Von Erich clan in the face of all foes and forces. “The Cosmic Cowboy” Kevin Von Erich The oldest of the Von Erich brothers, Kevin Von Erich is certainly no slouch, known for his high-flying, action-packed moves, and with the boys, as one of the stiffest workers today. Despite his seniority, Kevin is not as high-profile of a star as his brothers David and Kerry, but is respected in his own right as an incredible athlete, pound-for-pound perhaps the best in the promotion. Kevin is also famous for wrestling barefoot, working every match with nothing on but taped ankles to ensure stability. And Kevin certainly needs it, considering his most favorite moves almost all involve leaping to the air and using his entire body as a weapon. Despite not holding all of the singles accolades his brothers David and Kerry have so far, Kevin is considered a premier tag team specialist, which certainly came in handy during his family’s feud with the Fabulous Freebirds. Since then, Kevin has stood up to all of those who stand in his way, no matter how much larger and taller his opponents may be. However, in February of 1985 on an edition of Championship Sports, Kevin was brutally attacked by the combination of Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez, who held him down to the ground and used a wooden chair wrapped around the ankle of Kevin Von Erich to attack it, putting Kevin out of action for a whole month. But now, Kevin is making his return to competition, with revenge on the mind, starting with a post-match attack on both Chris and Hercules at the latest Star Wars event! What’s next for Kevin? Surely, his aspirations for vengeance are not satisfied yet. Billy Jack Haynes Voted PWI’s 1984 Most Improved Wrestler, Billy Jack Haynes joined World Class at the very tail end of 1984, and has since made a name for himself as a potential superstar of the future. He appears to have won the hearts of the Dallas, Texas faithful, but has he won the minds? It remains unclear if Billy Jack is a sure-fire title contender in the near future, having yet to foray with those in the title scenes. Instead, Billy Jack has found himself at odds with another World Class newcomer, Randy Savage. The issue came about when Billy Jack told Bill Mercer in a sit-down interview back in January that he didn’t find the two comparable, when asked how he likens himself to Savage. The latter took issue with that, and finally the two met each other in singles competition at the most recent Star Wars event. While Savage would win their first singles encounter through questionable means, there’s no question that the sky is the limit for Billy Jack if he can continue to keep up with his world class physique (no pun intended) and continue to show improvement in the ring. Bobby Fulton One half of The Fantastics, Bobby Fulton has emerged as perhaps a new shining star in the Texas territory. Fulton’s time as one of the most popular tag teams in Texas has served him well, having not only soared in popularity with the fans, but also showing significant improvement in the ring as well. He has come across more and more as the leader of The Fantastics, alongside his tag team partner Tommy Rogers, and may be best known for his hot tag run-ins known for igniting the Dallas Sportatorium crowd. One thing not going for Bobby is his size, considerably shorter than many of his colleagues. But despite his size, Bobby definitely has plenty of fight in him and is never afraid to back down from a fight. The Fantastics began the year as NWA American Tag Team champions, and were able to hold off the likes of The Midnight Express from initially taking the belts. But it was interference on the part of One Man Gang, new client for the Midnights manager, Jim Cornette, as the February Star Wars that cost them their tag titles. Now, the Fantastics are on the chase to get their titles back, before a growing tag team division provides for another team to take what they feel are rightfully theirs. Whether or not The Fantastics can become kings of the hill again, it will certainly be interesting to see if Bobby Fulton eventually moves on from his tag team position on the card and perhaps on to bigger and better things in singles competition… Tommy Rogers The other half of The Fantastics, Tommy Rogers is certainly popular with the fans as well, and can perhaps also be known for some slick in-ring work, similar to his partner. On the flip side, Rogers is known particularly well for his selling, as he is frequently on the losing end of many double teams during their matches. This usually leads to the hot tag that sends Bobby Fulton in, but that’s not to say Rogers doesn’t sometimes have his moments as well. While Fulton tends to get more into the fisticuffs with his opponents, Rogers prefers more coordinated and strategic moves, including working many of his opponents to the ground and on the mat. Jerry Blackwell Another big recent addition to the World Class roster is Jerry Blackwell, the 400+ lbs. wrestler who is known for his impressive athletics relative to his physical size. Blackwell is also known as a hard working wrestler, a man who stands by his word and will fight hard to the end. He's also one not to take any funny business from anyone else on the roster, and Chris Adams most recently learned his lesson after putting his hands on Blackwell at the February Star Wars event. Blackwell hasn't forgotten shoving Adams out of the ring, and neither has Adams, with both nearly coming to blow ahead of the March Star Wars event and likely to collide soon enough as tensions continue to rise. Blackwell's stock in World Class continues to rise as well, as he works hard to prove himself in a very competitive territory. Mike Von Erich The most recent of the Von Erich brothers to make his debut, Mike Von Erich has yet to achieve the massive popularity of his older brothers, but continues to consistently prove himself in the World Class circuit and regularly makes appearances alongside his brothers. Mike is noticeably of less impressive shape and size when compared to his siblings, a reality Mike will have to battle his entire career. However, Mike's story could truly be one of a real underdog overcoming all of the shadows and expectations surrounding him. For now, that story seems a long ways away, but in the meantime, Mike continues to wrestle and has taken on a bit of a high-flying style reminiscent of his brother Kevin. Brian Adias Best friend of Kerry Von Erich, Brian Adias has been around the Von Erich ranch since he was a youngin'. Now, it's only right Brian continues to fight alongside the Von Erich siblings in the wrestling ring, taking years of experience fighting together on the playground and on the sports field. A homegrown talent of Denton County, Adias is almost as popular as the Von Erich's themselves, no small credit to his close association with the family. In the ring, Adias continues to try to prove himself, but must break out of his consistent reliance on headlocks and other submission holds to carry himself through matches. Adias made a surprise return back to World Class earlier this year, and has thrown himself head first into the trials and tribulations of his childhood friends. Adias, a faithful ally of the Von Erichs, can always be trusted and almost considered a proxy Von Erich brother at times.
  6. Almost three years ago I embarked on a wrestling diary journey involving the Von Erich family and the infamous World Class Championship Wrestling. While the writing has paused since the board has since shifted to the new host and format, the game has kept running with the same intensity I was treating it while writing. The forum transition has since ruined much of the diaries formatting, but I spent some hours recovering the original diary and formatting it for repeated readership. I still greatly enjoy this diary and the world I have created, even more so now that I am closing out 1985, and I am very eager to continue sharing this alternate wrestling world where David Von Erich did not pass away tragically in Japan, and to answer one of wrestling's greatest "what if's" …. what if World Class did not succumb to such magnitudes of tragedy, the Von Erich's dodged their curse, and the wrestling world was forever different for it? If you are not familiar with WCCW in the early 1980's, I highly encourage you to check out the content on the WWE Network or YouTube, where you will find cutting edge programming during a team when it was always the stars in squash matches and vignettes were being born in WCCW. You may also be aware of the upcoming movie about the Von Erich family. In this rendition, however, we will try to avoid tragedy and build a special future for World Class Championship Wrestling... This story is told through the eyes of the new booker for World Class (currently nameless), brought in by Fritz as a last ditch effort to save face with estranged son David Von Erich. The original story may it's way through March 1985, and this story will pick-up in April 1985. I will be sharing the old content via Google Docs, with new content shared on Google Docs as well if preferred, but also posted here as standard practice. With that said, here's to another journey! 7. Hi all, Any interest in seeing this mod created with the scene set 5-years following my original Wrestling at War mod? General premise goes as follows: Vince McMahon is released from prison and regains control of the WWF Board of Directors. He ousts his son Shane from the company, along with extremely successful head booker Paul Heyman. Vince completely revamps the WWF, dropping the Attitude product that had brought them major (but now declining) success over the years, instead pivoting to a family-friendly product similar to the mid-2000s transition in real life WWE product... He signs big names to completely revamp the main event scene in the WWF. The new top star in the WWF is Goldberg (after Steve Austin broke his neck in 1999, leading to the WWF's recent decline and his retirement from in-ring action), as well as Triple H, but also new names to the WWF such as Mr. America (Hulk Hogan's new gimmick since departing HCW), and Shawn Michaels (returning from the 1994 Baltimore Screwjob conspired by his son, Shane.) In the meantime, Shane and Heyman team up to open Extreme Championship Wrestling (game world starts before ECW's first show), picking up other disgruntled veterans and stars across the industry to create a new start-up promotion. They end up with top talent such as Raven, Mick Foley, and The Sandman (ousted by Vince since WWF takeover occured), as well as heel Lex Luger (think late 2000 WCW Luger), Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho (left NWA after years of promises but lack of reality on the big stage), Rob Van Dam (fired from WSW in 2000 due to marijuana controversy), and others. Hollywood Championship Wrestling was snuffed out by FOX in 2000 after a couple years of controversies and declining product quality... The National Wrestling Alliance and World Star Wrestling survive the next five years and remain popular destinations for HCW alum. Flex Kavana (IRL The Rock) is now the NWA's biggest superstar, along with The Giant and other mainstays such as Undertaker, Sting, and Flair ... with a very competitive upper midcard as well ... while WSW is working with the Hart's and many other familiar faces but having recently brought in Kevin Nash from HCW... Below are the drafted rosters currently after 5-years of lore I am building in parallel. (please bear in mind everything is subject to change)
  8. Yes, celebrities are an issue I realize now. Apologies to everyone! It's not abandoned, because I'm still alive, but I am not actively working on it at the moment.
  9. Booker T will be corrected in the next small update and yes, Lance Storm isn’t happy because he’s Lance Storm. Some workers start with morale issues for a little added spice.
  10. This is definitely a definitive version. I’m planning on making minor updates mainly in regards to fleshing a few things you like the minor missing items such as title history and title pictures. I recently bought Photoshop again to knock some of this out! But at this point there wouldn’t be any substantial additions that would prevent being able to play a full 10-year game.
  11. Thanks again, I will adjust this soon. I will also be uploading a .zip version for those who cannot open .rar.
  12. There are plenty of diaries where the writer recaps month to month changes. It is certainly a much less labor intensive approach and is good for a low level of commitment. However I advise you reconsider using the auto Booker as it will not provide a level of continuity between shows that will create a viable story.
  13. This is 1996. Vince McMahon is in prison. His release date? The year 2000. Until then, wrestling is at war. Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels are looking like the hottest stars in town, leading Hollywood Championship Wrestling to a meteoric rise in the wrestling industry. On their coattails, Bret Hart and the World Star Wrestling crew along with The Undertaker and his new dark beginning in the National Wrestling Alliance. The dark horse? Shane McMahon and Paul Heyman’s new cutting-edge product of the World Wrestling Federation climbing from ruins. With four years left until Vince is out of prison and, presumably, regains control of the WWF, can anybody stop the new powerhouse in HCW from taking over the industry? Lore Wrestling At War is a TEW2020 mod that begins in January, 1996. The world of wrestling is very different from what it became. Hulk Hogan remained with the AWA through its formation of World Star Wrestling. Instead of “Hulkamania”, this world experienced “Macho Madness” that swept the nation. Vince McMahon built the WWF on the shoulders of his superstar, Randy Savage, while Jim Crockett and the rest of the southern NWA stronghold responded by centralizing earlier on in the 1980’s.To the north, Verne Gagne’s AWA and Stu Hart’s Calgary territory joined forces to plant their stamp in Chicago, IL and the surrounding Great Lakes region as the predominant wrestling promotion known as World Star Wrestling. And the remaining combatants of the old Memphis and Mid-South found refuge, and potential coup, with the United States Wrestling Association. The industry changed forever in 1993, when Vince McMahon was convicted in his steroid trail of 1993, and would face an objectively horrible sentence. To serve time for the next seven-years, the WWF would crumble in the wake of fallout. Not only that, but 23-year old Shane McMahon was now in charge, and soon found controversy when he screwed frontman Shawn Michaels out of the WWF Championship while Michaels was on his way out from the WWF to join the upstart HCW in what has become known as “The Baltimore Screwjob”. In 1994, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Sean Waltman formed the foundation of Hollywood Championship Wrestling, the new primetime promotion owned by FOX, live on FOX, every Monday Night. McMahon and the WWF have found shelter with MTV, and have perhaps found a savior in a man named Paul Heyman and his new “attitude era”. Author’s Note: I am very excited to release this new version of my Wrestling at War mod! This mod was originally released in 2013 on EWR and has since evolved into this latest release in 2022! Hard to believe this alternate reality is almost ten years old but I am so glad it has lasted this long and continues to receive attention from time to time. This release is without a doubt the most full-fledged version with enough to sink your teeth into for long saves. There is still room to grow as well, and I may continue releasing minor adjustments of this data as I continue to improve and tweak. 16. Thanks for the support all. Sorry I have not released anything yet. I've been on vacation the past 5 weeks and had a life event happen recently so this has been on the back burner. Hoping to pick-up a bit and release something before the vacation ends and to get my mind away from other things. Proud to say I am also including the following changes: Set new maturity, decline, relevancy, and retirement ages for majority of workers to prevent companies relying on the same stars for a very long time. Incorporation of Taker4455's Celebrity Expansion Pack! Removal of vast majority of company loyalty's in order to open up more movement of talent between companies.
  17. +1 to this great idea. - Achieving ratings higher than x goal during a particular week in the near future. - Achieving x avg rating over a certain period of time (such as a particular month)
  18. Quick update on latest progress... we are well on our way towards a soon to be released update featuring the following: The addition of 600+ new future wrestlers, including many modern day stars. Rescaled worker skills and popularity to keep show ratings lower and more realistic through early game. The addition of future companies dependent on mandatory owners, such as Vince McMahon's Millenium Sports Entertainment! Completely revamped broadcasters (new current and future networks, better scaled approached to ratings) Adjusted popularity and starting money for the Big Four (to help prevent unrealistic TV ratings and match ratings during the early game) Excited to share this ASAP!
  19. Thanks for the feedback! I’m super excited to confirm I am actively working on the addition of more modern workers! I think it will add much more depth to longer saves. What company did you opt to play with? I’ve recently been running back some old 1996 WCW and definitely think it puts you in the mood for this mod! Thank you for the kind words on the alternate history, I hope I can match it one day with a 2001 edition of this mod, or maybe even a modern day…
