  1. For my 2016 port: Recently established the SWF Network for RIPW shows and events but wanted a B show that wasn’t just Main Event/AEW Dark for throwaway matches.

Enter SWF Friday Night Funhouse, a kid-friendly show hoping to revitalize the family friendly fan experience lost to USPW and Lobster Warrior’s heel turn. Like most children’s programming it’s full of loud sounds and bright colors and over the top performances, inspired by Saturday Morning Slam.

I’m using the show to book Captain Atomic as the top singles face and “main character” while he continues to wrestle as a tag team guy on Supreme TV. He usually gets a villain of the week, pulling from the midcard pool of heels like Big Smack Scott, James Prudence or John Greed. One thing I really liked about early network NXT taking lower end guys like Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel or Titus O’Neil and presenting them as a big deal while simultaneously maintaining their character history. It also makes an appearance by a major star like Jack Bruce or even high end midcarder like Joe Sexy all the more special.

Ultimately, the goal is to take guys with family friendly gimmicks and build up their younger fanbase while the top of the card is full, starting with Captain Atomic, with Robbie Retro and Marshall Dillon on deck.

as for the rest of the show, I’ve added over the top characters like Zeus Maxmillion, Super Ninja, Hugh de Aske and Spike, while mixing in more gimmicky main roster jobbers like Monty Trescarde, Jimmy Hernandez and Sammy Smoke.

Eddie Peak/Big Cat Brandon in DAVE has always been my eternal rivalry. Just guys who both hate each other, it doesn't matter who is face and who is heel, they just despise each other.

I always have Greg Gauge and Jay Chord be big rivals in TCW. Once Gauge is built to Major Star and Chord gets the belt, Chord v Gauge is a given.

I'm sad we didn't get this rivalry in MAW during the transition of power between their dads. Although Jay was way too good to be in a feeder company the moment he debuted

    Magnum Kobe Vs Emerald Angel

True, canon, fight forever guys. If you play as WLW and grow, you can steal both of them back and resume the storyline. They form your typical puro archetypes - Ace Vs Rebel kid, High Flyer Vs Striker, goody two shoes Vs Flamboyant charisma guy, Defender of the promotion Vs Anarchy/Invader, Respect for Legends/Tradition Vs New Generation Wrestling, Chosen One Vs the People's champion.

I think the saddest part of the WLW fallout are the two aces splitting to different companies. Angel vs. Sensational Dragon is probably the closest substitute but like you said, that history and rivalry is missing—seems more like a traditional dream match.

Alex DeColt & Dan DaLay.. Maybe cheating, because they are canon best friends in 'real' life, but I always book them as eternal rivals who just plain hate each other. In my version of kayfabe, Alex used to be a nerdy kid and Dan was the bully who made his life a living hell in high school. Ten/Twenty/Thirty years later (depending on the mod) they're still at each other's throats. It's not the most nuanced or interesting rivalry. I can't think of many cool angles or even strong main events I've booked them in. It's just long-term hatred.

I always saw Eddie Chandler as the face of the Elite but DaLay definitely felt like the most important member. The DeColts seem to use the rogue's gallery approach for the family of faces but DaLay always seemed in the mix no matter who else was a top heel so it makes sense to keep a personal long-term rivalry going with the arguably the most prominent DeColt.

Who would you pick out as the other DeColt's eternal rivals? I wish Zeus got more of a push because I can definitely see him as a natural foil to Steve, but it's probably Eddie Chandler and Gargantuan seems like a natural Hogan/Andre foil to Jack. Ricky seems like he would rival some of the other young guys he came up with like Rivera, Powell or Nelson?

I always view Logan Wolfsbaine and James Diaz as the cousins who go into a blood feud and then reunite every few years

One of my biggest challenges is booking both guys as more than successors to Raymond so a family feud seems like a great way to distinguish the two. Plus, plenty of meat!

Aaron Knight and Cameron Vessey are set up to lifetime rivals. Knight has a 5 year deal by default and Vessey usually gets a long deal. They are both in their prime, are fantastic in the ring and already positioned as rivals at the start.

It's probably the closest thing we have to a current Stone vs. DeColt rivalry that should've happened when the companies merged. I can even see a storyline where Knight's adopted DeColt lineage can come up to question for a "pure-blooded" second generation star in Vessey.

In my 2016 save that went 13 years, that would go to Blackwell Bush and Rob Edwards. Edwards made his debut in the end of 2016 as the hometown hero, and faced the resident frustrated midcarder Blackwell Bush, who cheated to give Edwards his first loss in his second MCW match. Edwards would win the next two, but Bush would find success first. Blackwell Bush would go on to win the MCW title at Glory Days 3 and growing increasingly paranoid throughout his title reign - he is able to put their series 2-2 in 2019, leading to a fifth match at Glory Day 4, a year after Bush won it. In the first ever MCW Ironman match, Blackwell Bush wins 3 falls to 2. After a relatively clean title reign, Bush cheats and bashes Edwards with the belt to take DQ but set him up for two consecutive falls as time expires to retain.

I've been seeing Blackwell get lots of love these past few weeks. Love to see these rivalries develop from midcard feuds

  4. Curious about which workers are “forever” rivals in your C’Verse booking where workers are  intrinsically tied to one another like SCSA/McMahon, Zayn/Owens, Undertaker/Kane etc.

Canon-wise, I can think of Remo/Frehley, Rogue/Valiant and Strong/Chord. Curious about the ones you’ve come up on your own and why?

For me, Steven Parker and Spencer Spade end up career long rivals given one is a highly accomplished underachieving indy wrestler and the other is a homegrown SWF super prospect. Writes itself.

Cali Slick and Sayeed Ali are usually vehicles for an East Coast vs. West Coast hip-hop war storyline.

Hell’s Bouncer and Scythe are always fun to book in an Undertaker-Kane setting.

Matty Faith is surely on your roster already. I know his father didn't leave the SWF on bad terms, but you could spin it like Matty thinks his dad didn't get the respect that he deserved at the end of his career. You could also grab Bret Starr from the main roster, and he likely won't be so much more over than your young guys to the point where he can't lose matches. Elsewhere you could look for Jay Chord or Cameron Vessey, but they both start on written deals.

Thank you, all good suggestions. I’m thinking about possibly keeping them as a dominant duo in RIPW and then calling them up and revealing Eric Eisen (my player character) as the third man and the culprit of a hostile takeover/coup of SWF from his dad and brother. At least in kayfabe, in reality, it’ll introduce him as head boomer and authority figure.

Chord and Vessey both expire around winter 2016 so if the storyline takes off in RIPW, I might introduce them as a trio on the main roster. Maybe a beat down of whoever the top face is by then?

  6. Recently ported the 2016 database to finally play RIPW when Spade/Primus/Scythe were all there. Started a stable called the Problem Children for the sons (and potential daughters) of former SWF stars who left on a bitter note from the company and the current members are Ash Campbell (Nemesis) and Greg Gauge (Sam Keith).

I was hoping to make a dominant Shield-esque trio but having trouble figuring out a third man. The other Keith twin won’t be available for another year and the only son of an alumni I can think of who I can sign is Ricky Decolt. Any ideas?

  7. Kanishoki is obviously a nod to Yokozuna.

Pistol Pete Hall seems pretty close to Stan Hansen, with a bit of an HBK career arc.

I think we can guess who Bruce the Giant is loosely based on.

Same thing with King Kong Kennedy and Giant Brody.

    El Patron=El Santo

Ross Henry is probably most akin to Steve McMichael

Black Diamond was a track and field star at the University of Tennessee. So was Bianca. Coincidence? Probably not.

    Phoenix I

But the first Phoenix always boasted proper bedside manner. He would ensure the promotion he spent his entire career wrestling for would meet a dignified end. After all, the company gave generations of Mexicans their childhood memories since its 1955 inception. Plus, his boys in the back were a talented bunch, many already displaced by the 2014 closure of
    MPWF
. If nothing else, OLLIE would springboard them to better-paying gigs with EMLL. Then there was the matter of legacy. In Phoenix I's charge was a trove of archival footage, priceless memorabilia and Mexican national history. He needed to preserve it, while he still could afford to.

So Phoenix I dialed the American phone number...

A few miles away, a gruff voice picks up. "This is Dinny speaking."
    Dinny Rantall
, a veteran referee from north of the border. But a Mexicano in every way but name, skin and blood. After all, Rantall's been living in the capital since the 60s and his Spanish was what the average Duolingo user would kill for. He listened intently. Phoenix I was offering him a job.

    Dinny Rantall

Dinny gave up on his dreams a long time ago. At 61, he was comfortable in his $300-a-month, one bedroom apartment in Mexico City. There wasn't much left in the states for him. Rantall got his daughter through college. They don't talk much, anymore. He doesn't hear much from her kid either, who should be starting high school this year. But he was content. Even happy, at times. Twice a month, he would ref some local independent wrestling shows for cash. Most of the time, he spent pouring over his dusty collection of lucha libre history books. Each day, Dinny combs over pages full of glossy, black-and-white photos of El Patron, El Barbaro and Mephisto, jotting down inscrutable notes on the corners.

In other words, Dinny was the perfect man for the job. And he was thrilled to accept. Rantall would document, restore, archive...and book OLLIE. Well, for as long as it would stay in business...

  10. After a few play through, PSW might be the best balanced roster in the game right now. Tons of classic, familiar faces added to the roster (Rich & Famous, Samoan Demolition Inc., Sayeed Ali), underrated free agents (Jedediah, Winchester, Smooth) and newly created workers (Devil Dog, Lester, ZomBoy). There’s only 26 workers on a 20 minimum roster, much lower than the typical bloated staff of seemingly every other company.

My only issue is that it doesn’t feel as much a hardcore company as a super indie. Youngman, Ferrera, Callum and Wolfsbaine don’t seem the types to be “leading a revolution”

  11. My long time faves were Steel and Vikki Victoria. RIP

Brimstone has a cool render and ring name so he often gets a call for garbage hardcore companies in NA.

Eraser, Sinner, Mercenary and Bile tend to get more work than they should when I'm in Australia.

Brother Yoshitaka was a great low budget Orange Tsuchie. I like shaolin gimmicks.

Tiger Fuyaki and Strong Style Yoemen are awesome. I love aging Japanese workers.

  12. I love this. Trying to think of who’d be a Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, and Powerhouse Hobbs. I think Papa Swoll would be good for Powerhouse Hobbs. Brian Cage could be an established monster guy who needs mouthpiece. Nelson Callum or Davis Wayne Newton would be good Ricky Stark replacement.

As mentioned above, Papa Swoll seems like the perfect Hobbs. There aren’t too many characters with Cage’s build that have his workrate and none of them come easy or cheap in CVerse. If age isn’t an issue, how about one of the former NOTBPW strongmen in PGHW? Or another ex-NOTBPW workrate hoss in Mark Griffin? Maybe Warmonger from Australia or getting Logan Wolfsbaine to put on more muscle? As for Starks, I absolutely love Robbie Wright in that role. The only question is how do you pry him away from SWF? An alternative is Ant-Man or Fro Sure

  13. I book Valiant by his “honorable warrior” in the most literal way possible. He refuses to break the rules, attack an opponent with his back turned or use any weapons, even in a hardcore match. It’s an especially great way to keep him strong when losing, as I have him eat a loss because he’s not willing to compromise on his ideals. You can basically give this gimmick to any white meat baby face and make them significantly more fun to book, since these are the most reviled characters for fantasy bookers.

  15. Prediction Results:

    T1. TheEffect: 6/6

    T1. Eisen-verse: 6/6

    T1. MaiTyLer: 6/6

    2. Jaded: 5/6

    3. DarK_RaideR: 4/6

This is the hardest one to predict, I feel they has a use in the tag division, but only Reckless has any redeeming value in 2020, and that would only be as a solid midcard guy, Antix is definitely past the prime, while Acid and Stuntman are solid, young, and I think BOTH could turn into main event players (in PSW) with careful consideration

Definitely my logic with the booking. Both teams felt a bit like they were stitched together extemporaneously, but I think Acid II has a pretty bright future and Stuntman is a quintessential spot monkey necessary for any hardcore fed. Sad to see Xavier go though.

Sayeed almost kills the old man. ha

    Spot on!
