  1. I know its been too long since I updated, but the game is not dead and i'm still banging away in bits and pieces. Real life work has had me going pretty crazy the last 3-4 months. I've been through a few UI revisions, but (for now) settled on this for these two screens. More to come over the next few days. First pic is opening menu, second is options/setup. You'll have a decent amount of control over the league rules and such. Default is random universe/boxers, or you'll be able to create your own leagues with real world boxers if you like. Comments/thoughts/questions?
  2. I know its been too long, but I do now have a few screens to show soon. My day job has evolved a fair bit, which is what has been keeping me away. But I have been banging away in bits and pieces. I even have tons of boxer face portraits courtesy of a forum member to use in the game now. A few tentative screens to follow in the next few days!
  3. I saw the game...oh boy. If the reviews are accurate its buggy and has many basic issues with balance and such, especially with a $40 price tag. A boxer should not throw only 5 punches in a whole round.
  4. My game design focuses and philosophies are quite different than Adam's (or Arlie's), and that's ok. He has his strengths and I have mine, and I think that makes for more interesting games than if everything looked and played the same (aka Sports Interactive, Paradox, etc). GD isn't intended to be that sort of company at all, IMO. As someone stated above, I do not do this for a living, but to supplement my income. Adam (I think?) is going to school for something else, so perhaps not him either anymore. We cater to a very underserved niche/genre at varying intervals, and that's GD in a nutshell. Would more releases and such make the site more 'successful' overall? Maybe, maybe not, but the genre we serve wouldn't ever be 10 million copy sellers anyway.
  5. Sorry for the silence! I've taken a full-time outside gig in the last few months, and this has sucked up a fair amount of my time. Tne game has had the first 4 screens finished, along with the boxer generation code, so it'll still happen, but it may take longer than I planned. No vaporware here!
  6. It is being worked on, an announcement with some early screens and game name should be put up soon. It slowed a bit with some recent family issues, but should be picking up shortly again.
  7. Yep, i'm getting the 'tiny logo' on the site too now, using Edge Chrome browser, Windows 10.

Will it be possible for you to do the same with your new boxing game? It'd save me the trouble of figuring it out for Wine.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I should be able to, as far as I know. The IDE/language i'm using has built in multi-platform support for Mac and Windows, so I imagine it won't be too tough to do, should there be demand.</p>
  9. I've been slowly getting some internal systems in place the last week or so. It's been slow due to some family stuff going on, but there will be screens and a thread on the forum soon! Also: Is anyone interested in doing some boxer profile pics, similar to the wrestling games? I need a whole bunch, around 128x128 in size. PM me if you have interest in doing this for the new boxing game.
  10. I did take a holiday break on the project, but before that I did implement a new slick, polished yet slightly 'old-school' feeling UI for the game that is really turning out nicely. The Boxer, Corner Man and Trainer stat generation is finished and working well, and you can actually select your crew in-game. Game options selection is in and working as well. You can set Injuries on or off, Standing 8 Count on or off, Head Butt incidents on or off, 3 Knockdown Rule on or off, etc. for any type of game era ruleset you want. More to come a bit later!
  11. The full version? Should just launch up and start up. Let me know what you're doing.
  12. That was my immediate thought. Adam's games already do that aspect so well, nothing I could do would make it different enough. My feeling was the manager/coach aspect of Boxing with career/aging hasn't really been done, and I could do it justice, I think.
  13. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Champman0102" data-cite="Champman0102" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49295" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Yeah I would have preferred to take the role of promoter not as a coach, you know, run an org like Golden Boy and make whole fight events, negotiate with other companies like Top Rank for example.<p> Maybe that can be added at a later date?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> It could be added possibly, yes. Maybe have a choice of roles for a specific game at startup offered or something along those lines.</p>
  14. For now at least, the game will be set in the US, with the timeframe being young boxers (19-25 mostly) just turning pro, and entering the pro ranks. The world will consist of (initially) 7 weight classes with 10 boxers in each class, and fighting among themselves for titles in each class. The default universe will be randomly generated each game (of course there will be options for you to create your own universe with real boxers, trainers, etc. from whatever era you want). You select up to 3 boxers (1 per class) and control their negotiations for money, their training, and their progress, signing them to contracts that may change over time. Their skills will develop (or not!) as you assign training and manage them, and each boxer will have 8 skills, including Strength, Footwork, Stamina and Reflexes, along with ratings for Jab, Cross, Hook and Uppercut, along with a hidden 'Potential' stat that may dictate how well they develop. You'll hire a Trainer and a Corner Man to help you manage your fighters of course, with their own set of stats, including Judgement, Wisdom, etc. This isn't really a 'booking' simulator, as Boxing is somewhat different than Wrestling in this regard. If your boxers do well, the purses will be able to rise up and you'll earn more, and even the right to fight for a title at some stage for big bucks. Injuries, accidents, etc. may happen that can derail a figher's career of course. Over time, I can add other countries, etc. as demand dictates. The design will be very modular so that expansion of the game will be easy.
