  1. Crap, I missed this one! >_<

I think a few people did, it must have been the excitement of the T-Verse being released. :)

The Sting and Mike Awesome match has been built up so well. I also really liked the time limit draw between Killings and Punk. I didn't see it coming, but I think it was a good choice.

Really looking forward to Caribbean Combat!

Thanks for the comments buddy :) Haha, yes, I added time limits a little while ago and I was happy to finally make use of them here. Two guys of their calibre definitely need a bit longer to find a winner!

    Standard Trios Match

Jerry Lynn, La Chicano & Jerrelle Clark vs. Elix Skipper, Kid Kash & Silas Young

    TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

Mike Tenay announces that at Caribbean Combat, three of the four competitors in this match will be competing in a Four Way Shootout: it’s Silas Young vs. Kid Kash vs. Jerry Lynn vs. The Amazing Red and the winner will become the #1 Contender for the X-Division Championship.

But that’s on Saturday, right now we have trios action and these competitors waste no time getting down to business. After Chicano starts out with ‘The Real Man In The X-Division’ Silas Young, Jerrelle Clark manages to outpace Elix Skipper. No lean feat, he delivers a Drop Toe Hold into the ropes before the Tiger Feint Crucifix Armbar has ‘Primetime’ depending on referee Andrew Thomas’s count. As for the other two competitors, Jerry Lynn and Kid Kash know one another well from previous battles. Lynn has the Dead Level well scouted, blocking the attempted Brainbuster before a dig to the solar plexus leaves Kash victim to a Bridging Fisherman Suplex for a close near fall.

In the end, it all comes down to Jerrelle Clark and Kid Kash with Silas Young having been shoved unceremoniously to the outside after out attempting his Handstand Arabian Press. Jerrelle knows he needs the 630 Senton to put this one away but he’s too slow climbing the turnbuckles and Kash brings him down the hard way, a Hurricanrana from the top! Finishing the deal, Kash brings Clark back to a vertical base, hooking his arms and elevating him before dropping him head first with the Money Maker.

After a second singles defeat to AJ Styles last week, that was an important victory for Kid Kash. After the typically excited Don West has caught his breath, we smash cut to a dim corridor where
    Don Callis
paces forward apprehensively and thanks his lucky stars that he has
    Mike Awesome
    watching his back.

He heads down a staircase and finds a door. Slightly ajar, he opens and enters a darkened room similar to an industrial unit. Grey walls, concrete floors. This must be where they keep the arena seating when more floor space is needed. As he turns the corner, he does find three chairs occupied.

    As
    James Mitchell
    sits with
    CM Punk
    and
    Abyss.
. They spot Callis and stand to attention but the ‘Consultant’ for Jeff Jarrett makes it clear he’s not here to pick a fight. Instead, he wants to thank The Gathering.
”You brought Mike Awesome to us and although I am a little disappointed to lose Abyss here… it was a fair trade!”

Mitchell answers in the affirmative, Abyss is better off now he has a Father to guide him and better control his instincts. He’s a weapon that neither Jarrett nor Callis could harness properly. Abyss grunts and stares at Awesome and to his credit, Mike stares right back, no quarter given by either Heavyweight. Mitchell continues, believing that with the right tutelage Team Jarrett could have used Abyss to settle this little Sting problem they have, the same way they have settled their little Raven problem.

Callis baulks at the suggestion, they took Sting out last week! And after Mike Awesome defeats Hernandez later tonight, Commissioner Piper will do what is right. He will come down to the ring and he will hand Mike Awesome the TNA World Heavyweight Championship because there’s no way that Sting is going to make it to Caribbean Combat now he’s been taken out not once, but twice by his challenger. With a devious grin, Mitchell plays diplomacy and tells Callis that maybe he’s right before sending him away by promising to neuter Ron Killings later tonight.

    Standard Tag Team Match

America’s Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) vs. Joe E. Legend & Kenny Omega (w/ Scott D’Amore)

    TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

    t2HGU5R.jpg

”I’m here because I wanted a closer look at AMW being put out of their misery for good.”

    During the commercial break,
    Shane Douglas
joined us on commentary. 20-year-old Kenny Omega starts out here and leapfrogs over James Storm before catching him on the chin with a beautiful Dropkick. Scott D’Amore doesn’t call him the Prodigy for no reason, he’s clearly a competitor with bags of potential. The left leg of Storm is the target, that’s the one the ‘Cowboy’ bases himself with for the Last Call and Legend gets the memo, coming off the second rope with a Knee Drop to the extended limb as his tag team partner holds it in place.

Everything’s going well for the Canadian contingent until Omega attempts his signature Cross-Legged Fisherman’s Buster because Storm dead weights him and escapes out the back door, shoving Omega away before Chris Harris is tagged in and starts delivering Line and Line to his two adversaries. A pair of Fallaway Slams to boot, the ‘Wildcat’ is rolling! That is, until D’Amore calls the shots and they slow him down with a sudden Double STO. Now it’s time to finish what they started...

Omega holds Harris in place with the Full Nelson as Legend winds up and comes in with the Roaring Elbow. But ‘Wildcat’ shows off those feline-esque reflexes, ducking down and dropping his body weight so that the full force of Legend’s elbow catches Omega on the cranium instead! ‘Cowboy’ is ready, Last Call drops Legend and it’s time to go home. Desperation Clothesline from Omega finds only thin air and Harris hoists him up, swivels him around and slams him into the canvas with the Catatonic. It’s probably already over as is but they insist on delivering the Death Sentence and Harris eyeballs Douglas at the announce table as Andrew Thomas counts the 3.

Game performance from the Canadians who did themselves no harm hanging in there with one of TNA’s top tag teams, even if D’Amore does cut an apoplectic figure at ringside. Douglas throws down his headset and clutches his NWA World Tag Team Championship, standing to shout at AMW. They’re not getting another shot, they can stare at him all they like! But we head away from ringside to HudsonHQ and inside a plush meeting room where
    Scott Hudson
    is catching a word from
    Dustin Rhodes.

    HqiXuFN.jpgLB2fUMD.jpg

Two weeks ago, he left BG James and Ron Killings to fight all three members of The Gathering by themselves and Hudson asks the obvious question:
    why?

Dustin says when he came into TNA, it seems everybody expected ‘The Natural’, good old Dustin Rhodes, his Daddy’s son, the apple of Dusty Rhodes’s eye, that classic southern wrassler. But this isn’t 1993, things have changed. He’s changed. He’s donned the gold paint, he’s been around the block, he’s seen it the way it really is now.
”I’m not going to take the moral high ground and put myself through the meat grinder just to win the approval of the fans, I’ve done that too many times and where has it ever gotten me?”

He admits that he’s undergoing a bit of an identity crisis right now, if he’s not ‘The Natural’ then who is he? This time around, the boss didn’t call him to tell him the character he was going to portray.
”If BG James wants to fight me, that’s fair. I know it’s my own fault for getting myself into this situation in the first place.”
But if Dustin doesn’t know who he is any longer, then how can BG James?

    Standard Singles Match

Ron Killings (w/ BG James) vs. CM Punk (w/ Father Mitchell)

    TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

Theorizing that his best bet of winning here lies in containing ‘The Truth’ from hitting his arsenal of high-impact moves, Punk continually chops out the base and looks to sap the life out of his opponent with a Front Facelock before a Single Leg Boston Crab. It’s a sound strategy and although Killings revs up at times with his Leg Lariat and does hit the Truth or Consequences, Punk again brings this back to his pace with the Welcome to Chicago and slaps on another submission - the STF.

    jDWA57W.jpg

”This is the perfect gameplan! Father Mitchell has got CM Punk well prepared for Ron Killings tonight!”

Mitchell urges Killings to quit but of course there’s absolutely no give in ‘The Truth’ and he scrapes his way to the bottom rope despite the Father using his cane to pull it further away from his outstretched right hand. With the Farris Center behind him, Killings catches the Straight Edge superstar with the Flying Jalapeno after being sent to the ropes but he’s too weary to pin his opponent immediately and Punk recovers amply to kick a shoulder up before the three.

As both men remain on the canvas after that dramatic last-gasp kick out, the bell rings because the 10 minute time limit has elapsed.

Ten minutes couldn’t decide a winner between
    CM Punk
    and
    Ron Killings.
It seemed almost inevitable from the slow start to the match that neither competitor had the necessary intensity to close the deal in time and perhaps we’ll have to do this one again in the future.

    Wy40bV5.jpgMQpWxGV.jpgxiIzVUR.jpgotYsMGO.jpg

As both competitors stand and size one another up, there doesn’t seem to be that much animosity between them. Quite the opposite, there is mutual respect for the strong competition as Killings says something our microphones don’t pick up and Punk nods in agreement. But Father Mitchell ends the niceties, getting between the two and pulling Punk away before taking him from the ring.

    ‘Beware’ plays Killings out as
    BG James
enters the ring with a water bottle and a towel for his friend. Despite failing to pick up the victory, they do at least get to stand tall and celebrate with their fans.

    Standard Singles Match

Hernandez vs. Mike Awesome (w/ Don Callis)

    TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

This is a great opportunity for Hernandez and it’s clear early on that he’s developed a toughness errant in most wrestlers that find themselves in All Japan Pro Wrestling working that demanding physical style. He’s barely phased by the early right hands and though doubled over by a knee to the midsection, he beats Awesome to the punch when the #1 Contender backs into the ropes, flying at his opponent with all of his large frame to take him down with a Shoulder Tackle. Never one to be shown up, Awesome delivers a Clothesline near the ropes and sends his Mexican opponent tumbling to the floor. If Hernandez’s standing leaping was impressive, then Awesome’s Suicide Dive over the top rope was, well... awesome.

Back in the ring, these two big meaty men continue slapping meat. A Running Bodypress in the corner from Hernandez is answered by a Powerslam from Awesome. A German Suplex from Awesome is answered by a Samoan Driver by Hernandez. Who can deal the killer blow? Hernandez thinks he can when he hits the ropes but Awesome follows him in and catches his opponent turning around with a brutal LARIATOOO! It’s the ones you don’t see that hurt the most.

Dazed, confused and probably wondering where he is, Hernandez is brought back to a vertical base but returned to the canvas unceremoniously with the Awesome Bomb, ring the bell! But wait, he’s not finished yet. From the top rope, Awesome soars through the air and comes crashing down on his opponent with the Awesome Splash. He doesn’t even hook the leg when he makes his cover, this one is over and referee Rudy Charles does the honours.

    Although the match has concluded,
    Don Callis
picks up a microphone from the timekeepers table and tells
    Mike Awesome
to give Hernandez another Awesome Splash. Take him out! Referee Rudy Charles tries to get between the #1 Contender and the top turnbuckle but Awesome just swats him to one side and Don Callis gives him the 4-1-1. If he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay out of the way.

From the top rope, Awesome leaps for a second time, crashing down with all of his 280lbs+ on the rib cage of Hernandez! Callis continues, ordering Commissioner Piper to come down to the ring right now and crown the new rightful TNA World Heavyweight Champion because there’s no chance Sting wants to feel the awesome force of the man standing beside him, he’s not coming to Caribbean Combat. But the sound of a guitar solo does not land on the ‘Consultant’s’ ears well...

    yZsAsCo.jpg

Because it’s not Piper he gets, but
    ’The Icon’ Sting!

Emerging from the tunnel showing little to no sign of the beating he received last week, the TNA World Heavyweight Champion holds his title belt in his left hand and his signature baseball bat in his right hand. He points the bat at the twosome in the ring and begins to walk slowly down the ramp, stalking his prey, moving at his own pace and savouring every moment of their surprise at his presence. But both Don Callis and Mike Awesome are on the same wavelength here - make him wait.

They turn tail, climbing over the steel security railing into the crowd to find an alternative exit than the one currently blocked by Sting. We’ll have to wait until Saturday to see these two collide as our announcers play us out for the evening.

”I don’t think there’s any question over Sting’s condition, he looks great to me Mike!”

    Hernandez vs. Mike Awesome

Comments: I like Hernandez, expect some heavy planchas

I like him too. I bought him in to be a tag guy next to D'Lo, that was something they were doing in Japan and I thought I would mirror it here. But they have absolutely zero chemistry apparently. :( Plus he prioritises All Japan and he's just moved over there in my game. Between me not having him very often and having to pay his travel costs, I decided to let him go after this show with his official writing off coming at the hands of Mike Awesome. He's the "Career Killer" again. :p

    Ron Killings vs. CM Punk

Comments: I picked Punk, so he's probably dead.

    I promise that I don't counter-book your selections, I promise.

Jerry Lynn, La Chicano & Jerrelle Clark vs. Elix Skipper, Kid Kash & Silas Young

Comments: Went back and forth on this one a few times, but I can't see Skipper, Kash and Young losing here. Unless they do. :)

I considered having the faces win just to put Chicano over strong before he faces Daniels but I didn't want Skipper to lose again ahead of his match. Plus Kid Kash needed a win too, so it turned out to be a bit of a no brainer to all of you in the end I think haha.

  3. Haha, you got me with the main event, very good stuff. Great show, Hardy is a given for TNA in this era but I like Scott Hall in Planet Jarrett, that's a smart move. Both sides are gaining numbers, I wonder if there's a Lethal Lockdown on the horizon... <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  4. I'm thinking if Punk has indeed signed, him coming out after MJF's match with Jericho and doing something with MJF would be ideal. Boom, that's your first feud. I would prefer keeping both Punk and Bryan away from titles, at least off the bat. Keep them Punk in the same "special attraction" category as Sting and Bryan in the same "veteran who might go on one last big run" category as Jericho and Christian. If they're gonna get in the picture, have them climb the ladder and play the game like everyone else does. Just because two of your most sought after wish-list wrestlers are under the AEW umbrella doesn't mean you should start getting sloppy. Stay consistent, keep the same energy and don't betray your audience. If Kenny is losing the title at All Out like I think, then we can talk him vs. Bryan (or Punk) since there's no hierarchy to go through to get the match.

    Yeah, I agree with this.

Punk has been away from the ring and probably away from wrestling altogether for at least 6 years now. We've seen with Miro and to a lesser extent perhaps, Andrade, what just 90 days away does to you as a wrestler. Punk will have to get back in ring shape and regain his confidence as a performer and I can't think of a better group of wrestlers to work with than Shawn Spears and FTR to do exactly that. Behind the scenes and on screen, if I'm Punk I'm asking to work with that trio because they are total professionals and they'll get me to where I want to be. Punk versus The Pinnacle makes sense because the promos with MJF will be hot fire and can carry the rivalry whilst Punk works to get back to a high level as an in-ring performer. Plus he can tell a story with MJF, he won't have to do a high work rate classic to have a great match.

I also think that Jericho versus MJF is going on last at All Out. Fozzy are touring the UK in September, I think they write Jericho off for a while, maybe a Retirement Match? Loser Leaves Town? MJF wins, hams it up, then Cult of Personality plays and Punk steals MJF's thunder and stares him down to end the show.

Punk's program also doesn't need the title and he shouldn't be taking away spots from other performers. Darby has been spinning his wheels in the midcard with Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky despite being one of the companies fastest emerging top stars next to Britt Baker. If Omega does retain, and I think he will because the babyface side of the roster is so much stronger, then I'd like to see him versus Darby in the main event of the next PPV because Darby deserves to be a headliner now.

  5. RAW: AJ Styles vs Rey Mysterio

I don't know about this in 2021, but this would have been all sorts of great 15 years ago.

RAW: Qualifier Match: Angel Garza vs Xavier Woods

RAW: Bianca Belair vs Zelina Vega

RAW: Non-Title Match: Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

There's no reason not to carry on the strong Reigns push.

    UG7: Akira Tozawa vs Otis

Personal bias, I love a bit of Tozawa, Akira.

UG8: Riddick Moss vs Tucker Knight

<em>This one is hard to call since it was the 2013 final in real life. Elgin was a pretty big deal at this point, he got to the final of 2012's BOLA and he would win the RoH title in 2014 so yeah I'm going with him here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

    <strong>Ricochet</strong> vs. Trent?</p><p>

    Chuck Taylor vs. <strong>Kevin Steen</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus: Who is going to win the Battle of Los Angeles? I'm going to go with <strong>Michael Elgin.</strong> He owes Adam Cole for beating him in the 2012 BOLA final and although I rate Steen highly, I think he's too obvious a pick to win the whole shebang.</p>

  8. <p>I like Max, he's a good talker but a bit average in the ring I feel. Could be a major player in the future though.</p><p> </p><p>

    ME: Billie Kay vs <strong>Liv Morgan</strong></p><p> </p><p>

    ME: <strong>Roderick Strong</strong> vs Santos Escobar</p>

  9. I think the opposite way of looking at this is Vince didn't like NXT in 2015-2016 getting way more hype and excitement than his main roster product, so he started, consciously or subconsciously, undercutting the male talent that came up around that time (basically anyone not named Kevin Owens and arguably Finn Balor). With that happening year after year, callup after callup, from Neville to Sami Zayn to Nakamura to Samoa Joe to AOP to Sanity to Bobby Roode to Andrade to Aleister Black, the NXT brand is nothing to get excited about because you know they're going to get the rug pulled out on the main roster. That's a big part of why I haven't watched in a while. It's almost exactly the same target audience as AEW, but it's *treated* like a minor league by the main roster, whereas AEW is not.

That plus the stagnant upper card roster with stop-start main roster appearances (Gargano, Ciampa, the UE guys, etc.) is just a recipe for disaster. To me, the failure of NXT is entirely on Vince for treating it like a child company if the plan was for it to be more than that.

I definitely get the impression that when somebody gets called up, that's the first time Vince is seeing what they can do. It's the only thing that can explain how many NXT guys were killed in their second week. Tyler Breeze comes to mind, so good in NXT and immediately buried on the main roster for seemingly no reason but Vince not liking him. He must not have seen his NXT work otherwise he surely would have stayed there. I'm with you though, very little reason to get excited about NXT guys when you know Vince will cut their legs off. Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

    Standard Singles Match

Amazing Red vs. Julio Dinero (w/ James Mitchell)

    TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

Once Mike Tenay and Don West are finished hyping up the evening’s proceedings, they bring up last week’s iMPACT main event that saw Christopher Daniels retain his TNA X-Division Championship against Bryan Danielson. Speculating that the winner of this match could very well put themselves in contention for the next opportunity, it’s Kijar’s guy Red that has the better of the match early on.

His energy and agility is too much for Dinero, who does manage to ground the high-flyer and work him over well with Mitchell’s direction at ringside. But Red slips off Dinero’s shoulders when he’s attempting the Jalapeno Popper and catches him with an O’Connor Roll, bridging backwards for extra leverage to take home another notch in his win column.

Knowing what is good for him, Amazing Red gets out of the ring and immediately celebrates his flash victory going back up the entrance ramp. As James Mitchell reels in his surprise and Julio Dinero rings his hands through his hair in frustration, we are sent to the locker room...

    To find
    Savio Vega
    with the barrel-chested
    Apolo
on his right and the phenomenal
    AJ Styles
on his left. First of all, Vega wishes Ray Gonzalez the best of luck in his tag team match later tonight but that’s not why he’s got this TV time. The man on his right has been having his issues with the IWA World Heavyweight Champion and at Caribbean Combat, Apolo will meet Glamour Boy Shane in the squared circle. At this, Apolo grunts menacingly as Savio passes threats...

”When my boy is finished, there ain’t nobody gonna think that Glamour Boy pretty no more!”

AJ speaks up next and says that last week, Elix Skipper got real close to the action. He saw what ‘The Phenomenal One’ can do and he knows that Skipper is looking to do what Kid Kash has failed to achieve twice. At Caribbean Combat, he’s going to wish that he had left his new friend to do his own fighting...

”Because I’m on a roll and I am not being derailed in Puerto Rico.”

    Non-Title Match

Ron & Don Harris vs. The New Franchise (Shane Douglas & Michael Shane) (w/ Monty Brown)

    TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

Mike Tenay brings up the comparisons between Ron & Don and The New Franchise’s opponents at Caribbean Combat, the burly Thunder & Lightning. This is ideal preparation for the reigning NWA World Tag Team Champions, who are on the receiving end of a pasting early on from their rugged, powerful adversaries.

But they weather the storm when Douglas tugs on Don’s pants and sends him throat first into the second rope. As if that underhanded tactic wasn’t enough, Ron Harris arouses the presence of Monty Brown on the outside and as referee ‘Slick’ Johnson deals with Michael Shane breaking his 5 count on a double team, the ‘Alpha Male’ takes the opportunity to flatten Ron with a Body Tackle. After a Neckbreaker from Douglas, a quick tag and a Picture Perfect Elbow Drop from Shane, that was all she wrote for the Harris Twins.

    <div style="padding: 20px; border: 2px solid #da251c; margin:15px;background: #dddddd; max-width:100%;";">

An impressive performance from the reigning Champions, who stand tall as Ron & Don depart the ringside area, licking their proverbial wounds. Continuing with the theme of the tag team division, we hop on over to the interview stage.

    HqiXuFN.jpgn81ZRRy.jpg2QKldbA.jpg

    Where
    Scott Hudson
has managed to grab a hold of
    Chris Harris
    and
    James Storm
. He has plenty of questions for America’s Most Wanted; how do they feel about their defeat two weeks ago? What’s next for them? How does it feel to have been overlooked for two Puerto Ricans that have only wrestled one match in TNA Wrestling?

To this, AMW say they’re getting used to having the rug dragged from under them. First it was Diamond, Swinger & Gilbertti and they dealt with that. Then it was Red Shirt Security and they dealt with that. Then Ekmo & Siaki… they’ll get what’s coming to them sooner or later, and so will The New Franchise after they got themselves disqualified to save their own bacon.

”Oh boy, yeah it hasn’t been all good times for the ‘Wildcat’ and the ‘Cowboy’ so far this… -”

    7iidIwC.jpg2F0HglB.jpgKqqG3cj.jpg

Harris is cut off mid-sentence because the interview is interrupted by
    Scott D’Amore
    and he has
    Legend
    and
    Omega
in tow, the trio all clad in red shirts. He says that the two Canadians with him never complain like these privileged Americans because unlike AMW, his trainees have had to work double time and double hard just to appear on this television show. They should be grateful that wannabe Peabody Award winners like Scott Hudson give them the time of their day because nobody comes after D’Amore and his team to find out what they think of recent developments around here...

”My trainees have to toil away on Xplosion because Commissioner Piper won’t put them on ESPN, they’re clearly not good enough for the glitz and glamour of the big stage.”

James Storm has heard enough at this point. If it’s a fight these boys are fixing for then bring it on! America’s Most Wanted will see Legend and Omega in the ring on iMPACT next week, they’ll see them under the bright lights of live national television...

”But when we put y’all down with the Death Sentence, you boys are gonna be sorry ‘bout your damn luck!”

Harris & Storm depart. D’Amore grimaces. Legend huffs and Omega smirks. Hudson has his scoops and now it’s straight back to ringside for more wrestling, take it away JB!

    Standard Singles Match

    Sonjay Dutt vs. Samoa Joe

    TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

It was always a difficult task for the courageous Indian-American but although the size of the dog may be slight, there’s no doubt about the size of the heart in the dog. He does his best, determined to pull off what would be a major upset. But Joe is multi-faceted, leaping through the ropes with a Tope Suicida to clean out the ‘Playa from the Himalaya’ by the entrance tunnel. Most big guys don’t even leave their feet brother!

Two weeks ago Joe used the Muscle Buster to put away Chris Sabin but this time he turned Sonjay inside out with a single leg dropkick and sent him into a gentle slumber with the Coquina Clutch. Referee Andrew Thomas didn’t even check the arms for signs of consciousness, he knew that Dutt was out and he called for the bell.

Samoa Joe has certainly hit the ground running with both Mike Tenay and Don West wondering what will happen when he comes across bigger and more formidable opponents. They then throw the action to a Nashville recording studio...

    Because
    Ron Killings
    and
    BG James
have been laying down some slick bars for their former gang member Konnan. The Kru will be releasing a tribute single for their homie, a bit of catharsis, it’s good to get those ill feelings out of ya system. Speaking of ill feelings, they’re on ESPN right now to address
    Dustin Rhodes.

Killings says they bought in ‘The Natural’ because he used to know BG, he thought they went way back and he thought he was a brother they could count upon. But it turns out they were wrong, he left them high and dry out there because his belly is clearly as yellow as his daddy’s hair.

BG concurs. He says his heart sank when he saw Dustin drop down from the apron and he ain’t interested in no explanations. When you turn your back on The Kru, what happens ‘Truth’?
    ”’Ya get GOT!”
Damn right, BG says he’ll see Dustin Rhodes in Puerto Rico and he’ll pay for crossing the baddest duo in all of professional wrestling.

    Standard Tag Team Match

Jeff Hardy & Ray Gonzalez vs. Team Jarrett (Jeff Jarrett & David Young)

    TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Don Callis is inconspicuous in his absence here, Jarrett tagging out early to watch Gonzalez clothesline David Young over the top rope before leaping off the apron with a Somersault Senton to wipe him out. ‘Mr. Rayting’ ain’t here to play, he’s starting off hot! Although the ‘Enigma’ tries to get his hands on Jarrett, Double J hides in the ropes, stalling until referee Rudy Charles orders Hardy back to his corner. For their part, Team Jarrett seek to isolate Gonzalez but the classy Puerto Rican is of course too slick to stay under the cosh for long, countering Young’s Spinebuster into a DDT before bringing in Hardy.

Once the ‘Enigma’ gets rolling, he looks in imperious form and his particular performance here is a reminder of his raw prodigious talent. This is a star-making performance and he looks as sharp as he’s ever looked, hitting his Jawbreaker and Reverse Enzuigiri on Jarrett to remove him from the squared circle. Young tries to intervene with a blind tag but he eats Whisper In The Wind for his troubles. Hardy sets up Twist of Fate on Jarrett but Double J shoves him into Young. He’s got his wits about him tonight and he raises his right arm quickly to drop Young with a Clothesline.

Forget this, thinks Jarrett. He eats a left-arm Clothesline from Gonzalez and recovers on the outside, watching as his tag partner eats the Fenix Landing and the Swanton Bomb before the now-academic pinfall.

Don West believes that this is the most vulnerable he has seen Jeff Jarrett in some time and as Mike Tenay starts to close the show, he says he’s just got word that there’s a commotion backstage and we’re getting a cameraman there immediately...

In the parking lot, we find
    Sting
    and
    Mike Awesome
    in an escalating brawl!

With clubbing blows to each other’s backs, right hands to each other’s faces, the two seem locked in a perpetual stalemate. They find themselves near a TNA-branded production truck emblazoned with our biggest stars. Awesome tries slamming Sting face-first into the side of the truck but the Stinger uses his hands to block, elbowing Awesome into the midriff before he gets an unceremonious introduction to the cold steel, his head bouncing off the applied graphic of Sting. Irony? Perhaps, perhaps not.

    LgNP7OO.jpg

    But then
    Don Callis
ambushes Sting from behind, hitting him in the spine with a lead pipe!

    7vDTmWQ.jpg

”So that’s where the snake was all this time...”

    jDWA57W.jpg

”This seems co-ordinated to me Mike, they planned this!”

Sting crawls away on all fours but only towards another vehicle in the fleet, a pickup truck. Callis hits the button and unlocks the boot, with Awesome climbing onto the cargo bed and pulling up Sting with him. With a shout, Callis tells the powerhouse to end it.

Perhaps he does because Awesome powers the TNA World Heavyweight Champion above his head and drops him with an Awesome Bomb straight onto the drivers cab!

    jDWA57W.jpg

”A revolting thud Mike! And look at Sting sliding down the bonnet and dropping to the floor oh I can’t believe this!”

He may be perspiring but Mike Awesome smirks, clearly happy with his evening’s work. Don Callis advises that the two of them get out of there as soon as possible and they exit the scene of the crime as we zoom in to see the Stinger lying face down on the concrete, doubled over, left in a heap for a second time by the #1 Contender for his TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

    Amazing Red vs. Julio Dinero

Comments: A little Red push maybe? Think we might be getting close to Dinero being an afterthought in The Gathering, if we aren't there already.

He still has the honour of having wrestled the worst match so far, so he's got that going for him. :p

    Sonjay Dutt vs. Samoa Joe

Comments: As much as I'm sure we'd both love to see Sonjay pull off the upset... :D

I do slightly resent that I haven't had my Razor Ramon vs. 123 Kid moment on this show yet. Something to consider... :)

Ron & Don Harris vs. The New Franchise (Shane Douglas & Michael Shane)

Comments: I never really liked the Harris boys and Douglas and Shane are far more talented.

With that defeat, Don Harris went to 0-7 in this diary so I think that probably tells you what I think of them. :D

Oh, and a short P.S... when I called Jeff Hardy's performance a star-making one, that's because he moved from Well Known to Star as a result of that match after a whopping 80 in-ring performance. A good bit of business :)

  11. Vince doesn't care about NXT. It has succeeded in one thing and that is attracting a live gate, which should be a given for any WWE show when you've been pretty much the only game in town for over 15 to 20 years.

Otherwise it's been a resounding failure. It didn't cut the legs off indie shows running WM weekend, it didn't sell Network subs, it didn't stop NJPW's US expansion, it barely slowed down RoH's upward momentum and it didn't stop AEW from winning the demo. More than anything it's killed Triple H's career as a WWE executive because there's no way he'll get RAW and Smackdown provided NXT is a failure.

Kross losing was Vince sending a message about how he views NXT. Triple H got run off Wednesday nights by a money mark with an Observer subscription because the only idea he had was to hot-shot big matches. It's got to be a personal embarrassment for Vince to have a WWE property like NXT repeatedly failing to get into the Top 50 when the Demo's come in. No wonder he treats it like a black sheep, I think I would too if I were him.

  12. The grade on that Saturday Night main event, woof. :p

    WCW Television Championship

Steve “Mongo” McMichael © vs. Alex Wright

Your boy is not dropping it here.

    Non-Title Match

Harlem Heat w/Jacqueline Moore vs. Sick Boy & Lodi w/The Flock

Booker T & Stevie Ray are on a different level playa, now can you believe dat?

    The Giant vs. Hugh Morrus

    Death by Chokeslam.

Bill Goldberg vs. Lord Steven Regal

I expect this to be a good match but Goldberg isn't losing yet.

    Lex Luger vs. Scott Hall

I just figure that Hall is challenging Sting so could do with not losing? I expect the nWo to play a part in just getting Hall over the line.

  13. Holy moly, that is one stacked card!

TNA World Heavyweight Championship tournament match

    Sting vs. Rick Steiner

Just don't see you having Sting to lose to anybody but Jarrett.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship tournament match

    Konnan vs. AJ Styles

He has more upside and he's more over, I would expect him to go far here.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship tournament match

    Abyss vs. D'Lo Brown

I'm not 100% sure but I've picked AJ and Sting, so we need a heel to balance it out.

TNA Tag Team Championship tournament match

The Samoan Connection vs. 3 Live Kru

Killings and BG should go far and I don't know if Siaki and Ekmo are ready for such a big rub yet.

    Johnny Swinger vs. Dustin Rhodes

    Swinger is basically fodder.

    The Sandman vs. Julio Dinero

    CM Punk vs. Sonjay Dutt

    Apolo vs. Glenn Gilbertti

I hope you're ready for the penalty you're going to get for putting two Unimportants against one another haha. Unless Gilbertti is Recognisable for you of course...

Danny Doring vs. Abyss (w/ James Mitchell)

Hudson says he caught up with Doring earlier today and he said he was out to avenge the destruction of Raven at Genesis. He tries his best and even
    Shark Boy
appears, encouraging one of the two competitors in the ring… but Abyss gets the job done courtesy of a Black Hole Slam.

Thunder & Lightning vs. Glenn Gilbertti & David Young

The duo from IWA have been hand selected by Savio Vega to compete for the NWA World Tag Team Championships at Caribbean Combat. Gilbertti & Young do their best to negate the superior size and strength of their opponents but their plan unravels when
    Simon Diamond
comes down the ramp, laying out Gilbertti with a Gem Cutter on the floor. Shortly after, Thunder & Lightning wrap this one up with the Dudley Death Drop on David Young.

A routine victory for the grizzled Canadian against his rookie opponent, stunning Santel with a Roaring Elbow before taking it home with a Lifting Reverse STO, a move he calls the Hospital Job.

    Kid Kash
    and
    Elix Skipper
catch up with one another after the former’s defeat to Styles on Wednesday. Skipper tells Kash that he'll deal with AJ at Caribbean Combat because they're on opposite sides of an interpromotional tag team match.

    Sonjay Dutt vs. Scoot Andrews

After losing his NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship last week, Scoot looks to get back on track here. Unfortunately, he’s up against the talented Sonjay Dutt and although Scoot does a close near fall with the Tilt-a-Whirl Facebuster, he unfortunately falls victim to the Bombay-rana.

    In their private dressing room,
    Jeff Jarrett
    and
    Don Callis
address their upcoming tag team match on Wednesday. Jarrett will tag up with David Young to take on Jeff Hardy and Ray Gonzalez and first, they’ll square away that ‘weirdo’ Jeff Hardy’s claims that he will dismantle Team Jarrett. Then they’ll turn their attention to Ray Gonzalez and send him packing back to Puerto Rico before he even makes it to Caribbean Combat!

The S.A.T. (Jose & Joel Maximo) vs. Ekmo & Sonny Siaki

For the most part, the two Maximo brothers have to use their speed and agility here. They nearly wrap up what must be considered an upset when they hit the Double Spanish Fly on Siaki but Ekmo is on hand to force the break. After the Siakalypse Now takes care of Joel, Jose is pinned after a Gorilla Press Slam into a Cutter.

    TNA iMPACT! #11 Preview

    CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE

    Wednesday, Week 3, April 2004

Over on the official TNA website, you click on an embedded video…

    HqiXuFN.jpg

Inside an unnecessarily busy office environment,
    Scott Hudson
stands front and center. Shuffling papers, he informs us that we are live inside HudsonHQ, your new destination for wrestling news and gossip. The geeks in the graphic design department are still working on an official logo, he’s seen twenty drafts and none of them meet his high standards!

”If you doubt my credibility for one second, here’s a scoop that you won’t find in any monthly newsletter. Raven has a separated shoulder and will be out of action for at least 30 days.

How did I ascertain this information you ask? My sources are everywhere and they are always whispering...”

Hudson goes on to tell us that he has heard the following will take place on TNA iMPACT! this upcoming Wednesday LIVE on ESPN.

  15. RAW: Bianca Belair vs Charlotte Flair

I just don't rate Charlotte to be honest, I find her robotic and plain. Belair has more upside for me.

    RAW: Braun Strowman vs Murphy

    BRAUNNNNNN SMASH.

RAW: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Rated-RKO

I imagine that Edge & Orton are wayyyyy more over than Owens & Zayn, so I'm not sure they're losing here. Will it be three defeats in a row for Helix if Owens & Zayn win here? I believe so. I'm gonna roll with Helix getting the W and clawing back some momentum.

RAW: Finn plans to lobby to get his championship match before Judgment Day. Will he succeed in changing Roman's mind? No way, he's not getting a shot that easy.

UG5: Cedric Alexander vs Riddick Mos

Riddick Moss is garbage, surprised that Blackfox didn't fire him immediately TBH.

UG6: Akira Tozawa vs Chad Gable

Hard call, I loved Tozawa in DG but he was DOA in WWE.

  16. That was a banger of a first Impact, good stuff.

AJ winning the X-Division title is a strong call. He's absolutely brilliant so you can push that division straight to the main event now.

I'm not surprised you're dropping the NWA titles and I'm interested in who you make the first TNA champions. I imagine the tournament final will be Jarrett vs. Sting but I could be surprised and I have no idea who wins that encounter. The reinvigorated Planet Jarrett probably gets Double J to the crown so Sting can chase? But I'm not 100% sure.

Scott Hall is a good signing too, an immediate star power boost for you which you're going to need. Hopefully he stays out of trouble though!
