  1. Hey everybody! Just started a CWA save and got hit with the "not enough viewers to grow" after the first show. What broadcast path do you all take with CWA? Thanks.
  2. I believe this is the website you're looking for. https://www.greydogsoftware.com/cornellverse/
  3. I'll throw Alexander Robinson's name out there. In canon in my mind, he evolves into the technician gaijin tag team worker, but he ticks all the boxes you are looking for, even charisma which surprised me a bit. I do love the idea of Chester Stein or Colin Kennedy though, because when on earth do people get a chance to run with them.
  4. Hey everybody, Was thinking about starting a game in India for the first time so I was trying to find some info and this thread seemed to have the most discussion. Thought I'd bump this back up since a lot the game has changed since the first month or so of release. Any tips or tricks to starting a promotion? Settings to make the region most playable? Has anyone played as one of the two future promotions in the database? Really like the idea of using the Talk To Worker function to populate the region with available talent, either scooping up great indy talent or maybe going the World Wrestling All Stars way and snap up washed up veterans to battle.
  5. That's a fun call on the half hour B show. I haven't booked a half hour show before, gonna see how that feels. I'd love to give some tag teams more mic time that I can't find on the regular shows. I love the idea of a bunch of squash matches too, wish there was more local talent in British Columbia to grab for a one off but my area talent pool is thin.
  6. Really been enjoying this, thank you Derek and team. In Feb 1998 with CGC. At medium sized on a small broadcaster with 67 pop in British Columbia making almost $200,000 a month for the last few months, $1.7 million in the bank. Looking at CBN as the next broadcaster to take the step up to but need to get pop in all areas up to 45 which is a big task. Launching a big commercial broadcaster in Canada is $5.25 million, I would probably be able to open that before I hit the pop levels with CGC for a broadcaster that exists. Even adding medium coverage in the US takes the total to $8.5 million. I'll have to see once it gets closer. I don't really want to start a second show, part of the fun of CGC are the small, one hour a week commitments. Splendid Steve Flash has the World title, which he captured from Barry Bowen. Challengers are the DeColts, John McClean, Alexander Robinson, Eddie Chandler and Dan DaLay. Chandler is a heel, turning on the DeColts, and I believe is next in line for the title. Tommy Cornell has the Quebecois title, previously the TV title, which he won from Morpheus. Challengers are Mario Heroic, Canadian Dragon, Rich Money and The Natural. Morpheus and Tommy will trade the belt again in my mind. The veteran Edmonton Outlaws beat Soldiers of Fortune for the Tag titles for their first title win. Challengers are Poisonous (Joey & Wrath Poison), The Incredible Crash Dummies (Crash Dummy #1 [brent Hill] & Crash Dummy #2 [John Maverick]), Wiley Coyote and The Trappers (Jungle Jack & Big Tex). The Incredible Crash Test Dummies are next in line for the title. Been pretty unlucky not finding chemistry between many partners and can never commit to a full time team unless I do. There is still peace with NOTBPW and 4C and I have a trading agreement. HGC just started broadcasting in Canada so I will hopefully be taking a few people who can gain overness in our area within the next game year. HGC bought a floundering DAVE, Johnny Martin is maybe my main realistic HGC target. Liberty and BLZ Bubb would be the dream. Wishing entertainment skills would increase more quickly. Have had my upper mid carders in promos with the DeColts for half a year now and haven't seen much improvement. Feel like I'm forcing it some. I'm not sure of Australian Options is set correctly in the database. Not a big deal. Anyways, I'm just sort of rambling because I've finally hit a save game I really really love. Thanks again for all the effort and love.
  7. The above scenario was using the 1.29 patch, yes. But it is admittedly a small sample size so I was hoping others who had more hours with it had more answers.
  8. Thank you for your response! It is helpful. It does make sense overall to me; if a wrestler is not wrestling in front of many people, why should their popularity rise? And I phrased this above so I don't want to beat it to death but if a wrestler is not wrestling in front of many people, why should their popularity drop due to a match result? But I think the way I need to think about this, which is not how I used to think about TEW and that has led me down this path, is if my company has 55 overall popularity and my two wrestlers have 61 and 63 popularity, they have already achieved the maximum pop they can for that company at this point due to broadcaster size. The only place they can go is down until the company gets a better broadcasting deal. There is no point in trying to get your top guys any more over, or have a major star go over a major star because it won't benefit either of them, it will only hurt one. I do think it creates a circular challenge when running a small popularity company though. Your workers need to gain popularity to put on better matches but are capped because of the broadcaster size which is tied to the company size which you can't raise because your shows don't get a high enough grade on because your workers can't gain more popularity to put on better matches because they are capped due to the broadcaster size... This has made me realize something about TEW I'm not sure I would have been able to pinpoint before TEW2020, but I enjoy watching the progress of character's skills and popularity more than the progress of the size or popularity of the company. It doesn't feel as rewarding to me to sign a bigger broadcasting deal or rise up the Company Wars list than watching a character over achieve and gain popularity and skill they likely wouldn't have without my control. And I guess gaining popularity with the characters is possible, I just can't choose to do that first, I have to complete the broadcaster objective first. Also, these are just my opinions. I am not an expert and have only put 25-50 hours into this so far, I feel I need to learn more about the game and how it works right now to enjoy it more (and if I have said or assumed anything incorrectly above in any of my posts, let me know). I will always love TEWs so please don't take this as plain negativity if it comes across that way on the internet. Thanks again for reading.
  9. Thank you for this answer. I’m not sure if you, or anyone else, knows why the rate of losing popularity is greater than gaining for the same broadcaster? In the example above, the champion didn’t gain any popularity for beating the challenger while the challenger lost popularity. They didn’t have a large gap between them, but it was big enough to lose popularity but not the other not gain it. I’m not sure if I understand why a wrestler can’t gain popularity because the broadcaster is too small but the wrestler can lose it even if it’s the same broadcaster size. I don’t believe every popularity point should be a one for one trade when wrestling because that can obviously be exploited, but it seems like a hard pill to swallow that my main event workers can only lose popularity and not gain it until I book ~100 shows in this case to jump a larger size to sign to a bigger broadcaster. And again, maybe the answer here is just “there is a popularity cap on the worker” and it doesn’t matter what I do, but I’m thinking that’s not the answer because this is clearly just a broadcaster size issue. Thanks again to everyone for reading and considering!
  10. Sorry for the extremely generic thread title followed by very specific questions I'm about to start. Since the game has gone through a few changes to how these things are calculated since being released, I'm trying to find the most accurate information on my favorite types of companies to run, entertainment based products! Thank you in advance for reading any telling me the obvious things I'm missing. I don't have lots of hours logged, but most have been with a Classic Sports Entertainment product in the CVerse. (this example is CVerse 97) For this scenario with this product, I'm running a small company in their home base where they have 55 popularity. I have two workers, one in the region with a popularity of 63 (the challenger) and the other of 61 (the champion). Both are perceived as major stars with hot momentum and star quality is about 80 for both. The economy of the country is 38 and the wrestling industry is at 83. The television shows and PPV are being shown on a small broadcaster in the region referenced. The challenger with the 63 popularity is involved with 6 freestyle promos on the small broadcaster, all 6 minutes long, that score 83, 57, 83, 56, 89 and 71. Each promo he is rated on menace (they don't get the "nothing going on penalty" because other people are involved "doing things"). After these 6 angles, his popularity stat stays the same. The champion with the 61 popularity is involved with 5 freestyle angles on the small broadcaster, all six minutes long, that score 72, 57, 74, 56 and 71. Each promo he is rated on entertainment. After these 5 angles, his popularity stat stays in the same. So at the event, they face off against each other in the main event for the the world title. The champion with 61 popularity beats the challenger with 63 popularity in a 65 rated match with a decisive, clean victory. After the event, the challenger with 63 popularity now has 61 popularity and the champion with 61 popularity still has 61 popularity. So! I think that's all the necessary info that is needed (but please correct me if I should be looking at something else.) My main questions are.. 1) Why did the challenger with 63 popularity gain no any popularity from his angles? 2) Why did the champion with 61 popularity gain no popularity when beating the challenger? These are some things I'm theorizing but because I don't have a lot of hours I'm hoping you all have more experienced answers. 1) Both characters started the game with caps on their popularity so none of this matters and they are just going to be stuck where they are and there is nothing to do about any of this. 2) Small sample size, not enough angles to actually raise someone a popularity point. 3) Characters aren't able to gain popularity if their popularity is already more than that of the company they work for? 4) A character can't gain popularity when they rated on "passive" things like menace, they can't only improve the angle grade if other people are rated on other things. 5) I don't think it's because the broadcaster is "small", because I'm running the shows in the region. Unless again it's not possible for a character with 61 popularity to gain anymore because the company is only at 55. And....those are the main things I'm looking at. I've played the 3 TEW versions before this and know there are a lot of changes to the way things are graded now which I'm happy about, I can change the buttons I press, I just want to know which ones I'm supposed to select. If that makes sense. Thanks again to everyone who reads this and anyone who can give me any insight!
  11. Looks awesome! South Park wrestling characters are a hilarious throwback. I feel like every site also had chainlink fence as a background? Probably wouldn't look good but that was the era. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Not sure if this warrants a whole thread, but looking through the default data I was surprised when searching by the hardcore stat the the most hardcore wrestler in the entire universe is Remo. Has there ever been an in character explanation or storyline that spells this out a little bit? I was originally thinking that maybe this is a reflection of the game world. DAVE shutting down in 2007 closed a pipeline for hardcore wrestlers that PSW wasn't able to immediately fill. But GSW and IPW have been around for almost a decade now as well so you'd think some hardcore wrestlers would be in their prime. I just think it's a little funny that a 19 year veteran, true born SWF product is the best hardcore wrestler in the game. Any thoughts?
  13. I used to always have a Windows laptop to play games like this but since TEW 2016 I've played these games using Parallels on my Mac and never had an issue.
  14. Thinking of booting up a PSW game for the first time. Any tips of using hardcore matches? I haven't done any hardcore wrestling feds since MOSC so a lot has changed since they were last around. Are there enough hardcore matches or do you create some? Specific match pack anyone uses? I'm also interested like CQI13 in how many matches people run per month. I usually like to do as many as financially possible, any other input there? Thanks everyone.
  15. Thanks for the responses! Is there a way to make companies more likely to trade with each other? I was looking at the business preferences for workers thinking maybe an owner or booker with a certain trait would do it more often but nothing jumped out at me as something that would trigger it. I don't believe there are attributes that would do the trick either I'm finding it difficult to have multiple companies trade workers with each other unless they are holding an alliance title. Is this just the way the game works or is there something I'm missing to make the world more trade happy? In addition to the second point, so far I've tried a couple different tactics but when I set up an alliance title that is an annual competition, even if I don't assign it to another company or show, it doesn't run. So do annual competitions as alliance titles just not work? Thanks again!
  16. Sorry for the double post, been doing a lot of alliance things today. Can you assign a tournament title that belongs to an alliance to always take place at a company's specific show? Trying to build an alliance that has monthly themed title events at different company's PPVs each month. Any help? Thank you.
  17. If two companies are in the same alliance, will they trade workers more often if they also have an extremely positive relationship to each other?
  18. If two companies are in the same alliance, will they trade workers more often if they also have an extremely positive relationship to each other?
  19. Hey there. Wanted to get a conversation going about possible short term save ideas. TEW really thrives on long term games I’d say. I really like doing watcher saves that go for years and I have one longer save I jump in and out of, but I wish I had something I could accomplish in 3-6 months game time. Gaining pop for workers or companies or performance for workers doesn’t really work that quick though so I’d love to hear what others have done. I mostly am talking CVerse but don’t want that to stop the chat. Thanks guys.
  20. Just got to January 1976 in the sim where WWWF went out of business so that seems like a good place to stop and just kinda enjoy what the world looks like. A question I have, which comes from not a lot of real knowledge of the time period, is what is the "best" way to run a promotion? While I know this is a subjective question that is mostly opinion, maybe the better question is in what way are promotions intended to be played? Or in what ways were they tested and found to adequately representative the era? I'd love to find some balance of realism in sticking with the default schedule for a promotion in the NWA with the idea of eventually branching out but I don't know if there is a logical next step to slowly move towards. And again, thank you for all your time and expertise Mammoth, this is massively fun.
  21. Very cool! Just downloaded the mod to poke around. I’m going to let it sim overnight and see what happens. Thanks for all the time and effort Mammoth, can’t wait to dive in.
  22. Awesome! I've got the mass edit option now. Thanks. I'm not sure I see a field to edit age to all be the same but this is super helpful, thanks again
  23. Is there a mass edit button in the editor? I wanted to change the age of everyone in the database by a certain amount of years but am not sure how to do this / if it's possible. Thanks!
  24. This is great, thanks for sharing. Inspired by these ideas, I purchased the Ed Henson Memorial Cup to use in the World Tag League equivalent for my save with TCW. I'm also looking for a place to try and incorporate a trios tournament into TCW's schedule.
  25. Ah that would make sense, thank you, I hadn't considered their coverage needed to be higher. I saw that they were able to hit 90s with what they had and didn't realize a higher level would be able to make up the difference that much. Thanks again.
