  1. Some suggestions for current/future workers:

    Austin Idol (as a manager)

    Brian Zane

    Dan Lambert

    Eli Isom

    Jennacide

    Kamille

    Larry Legend

    Leo Brien

    Lizzy Evo

    Matthew Mims

    Megan Bayne

    Mike Patrick

Missy Hyatt (could be a good backstage personality or valet for indies)

    Quinn McKay

    Rok-C

    Slice Boogie

    'Smart' Mark Sterling

    Terri Runnels (see Missy Hyatt)

In other notes, Jim Mitchell needs popularity - as he currently has 0 pop in every part of the world. I'd suggest 25 in the US as a start.

I'd recommend boosting John Hennigan's US pop to around 45 - but you might have your own views on that. It stood out to me when I saw the US pops of Beth Phoenix, Bobby Roode, MVP and Sean Waltman.

Maybe tone down Carly Colon from 45 US pop (but keep his PR pop in tact, of course).

Would consider changing Bobby Heenan to 'left the business'. I love The Brain, but by this point his condition had deteriorated so badly that I don't think it's appropriate to have him as apart of the business in TEW terms; he was limited to doing fan conventions during 2013 until his death.

Tick the manager role for MVP, R.D Evans, Shiima Xion and Steve Corino.

Tick the road agent role for Steve Corino.

Future road agent for Mickie James, Nick Aldis, Tommy Mercer and Trevor Murdoch.

Future colour commentator for Caprice Coleman.

Add undemanding attribute to Cary Silkin and Bobby Cruise - the CPU or player normally doesn't have use for them - so I feel this is the best way of feasibly keeping them on the roster rather than them moaning/stinking up morale and then getting released.

Also, happy to be proven wrong by anyone that also watched ROH in 2013, but I think the following were actually faces at the time: Adam Cole, BJ Whitmer, Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin, Roderick Strong and Tommaso Ciampa. All of them are currently listed as heels.

More ROH notes: Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander were teaming up as 'C&C Wrestle Factory'.

Matt Hardy was apart of SCUM at this time. They centered the stable around him at that point; they had just kicked Steen out and Hardy was their golden boy, with Corino still as the driving force & mouth piece - just to give you an idea when giving him a stable role.

Jimmy Jacobs was still apart of SCUM. He and Corino were hand in glove.

Rhino was also still apart of SCUM. Muscle-type role.

Cary Silkin is listed as a 24-year-old. While I'm sure he'd love for that to be true, he was actually born in November 1959 (according to WrestlingInc).

  2. Turn them off altogether, as opposed to editing somebody's starting scandal effects via the editor.

While making a mod, it's not exactly good or ideal when I see somebody like Giant Baba, for example, smuggle drugs and cost AJPW their TV deal and put them in a financial hole. I'm looking for a way to turn it off completely so nothing like that happens, unless of course it's in their attributes/personality - then I would be more understanding. But not at random. Like I said before, it's counterproductive.

  3. Not sure how to turn them all off but if you use the code "cleanslate" in remote help it removes the bad habits that become the basis of many scandals. Of course it also removes all the other effects of bad habits as well.

    Thank you for your reply.

When you say it removes the effects of the bad habits. Let’s say, WWF lose their TV and PPV deals because Vince McMahon has been caught in a drug smuggling operation. Do the deals return too after using the “cleanslate” code?

  4. So happy this is still being worked on, hope youre both well.

    Thank you, take care!

Don’t wanna just repeat what’s already been said, but super super hyped for this. The Montreal Aftermath was one of my favorite mods to play, and it looks amazing. Love to see so many great mods coming to TEW 2020

Thank you! We hope that you will enjoy Domino Effects a lot when we release it

Wow! been keeping an eye on this mod since you first posted the hype... I am absolutely stoked!

Knowing how you work, I know this mod is going to be superrrr detailed.

Can we get some sneak previews of stats/bios ect?

Thank you! We will eventually show off some stats/bios, although I feel the best way would be for people to discover the vast majority of them for themselves, when the mod comes out.

  5. 14/7/2021 Update

Getting all of the WWF's 100 staff/workers into the mod has been the main priority since the last update. We managed to get it done, and all what remains with the WWF now, is the tasks of getting the starting storylines, movesets, pictures, relationships, etc. done.

We are now at 109 broadcasters (starting and future), and more will be added at a later date. However, since the last update, 175 broadcaster changes have been added.

There is now an overall of 240 workers in the mod, so far.

The top 5 WWF stars in December 1997

  6. Thanks for both of your messages.

Yes, the mod is still alive and well. However, jeronimoe and I's personal lives have been rather busy ever since we posted the last update, and therefore progress has been slower than how we would have liked.

Anyway, further good news is that the WWF is close to being finished. Hopefully it will be completed within the next week or so. A full update will be posted as and when.

  7. This would be super helpful to recreate the monopolies that certain media group have created over the years by buying up the competition.

    I totally agree!

Also, another useful thing would be the ability to change the broadcaster type. I.E, from ''Cable Subscription'' to ''Cable Commercial''. HDNet is a good example of a subscription channel growing over time and becoming more of an easily accessible channel as ''AXS TV''. Hopefully this can also be taken into consideration for a future TEW2020 patch.

  8. 7/5/2021 Update

A lot of work has been put into broadcasters (starting and future) since the last update. Last time we had 56, and now we've got 107. I have managed to find some gems along the way which will open up some nice avenues for people playing with all kinds of different companies. I'm still not content with 107 and more will be added in the future, but some really good groundwork has been laid. Also, a shout-out to Bigpapa42 who has given me really helpful information regarding Canadian channels as well as suggesting some.

There is now 80 starting broadcasting deals, and right now, that looks like it could be close to the final number unless things pop up/more companies are added.

As far as companies themselves go, I'm pleased to say that we have added our fourth one since starting from scratch:

    YPT3QtN.png

Kingdom. Born out of the ashes of the old UWFi. Nobuhiko Takada does feature on the roster, but as an occasional wrestler and colour commentator.

    UP NEXT: THE WWF

  9. <p>Very much looking forward to this when you do get round to completing it, BP.</p><p> </p><p>

It's an interesting time period for sure. There's a part of me that thinks its a shame that the WWF won't start off as a monster, because there's always that fun part in trying to take them down. In fact, theoretically, Georgia Championship Wrestling could become the monster in this data since they are on TBS, and to the best of my knowledge, TBS had a lot of nationwide exposure as far back as 1984. And of course, this data starts many months before ''Black Saturday'' ever happened.</p><p> </p><p>

I think the big selling points in America will be booking Hulkamania (WWF version, at least) from the start, creating and booking the Four Horseman from the start, pushing Magnum T.A in a ''what could have been'' without the accident, and much more. </p><p> </p><p>

You also mentioned Misawa and Kawada, who knows what will happen to their careers on the data since Jumbo Tsuruta won't become sick and Tenryu won't leave and do the SWS gig. </p><p> </p><p>

    There's many history-changing moments to be made.</p>

  10. When researching broadcasters, I have found that quite a lot have changed hands over the years in terms of ownership. For example, TNN being bought by Viacom in 2000. If I was starting a mod where TNN were owned by another group, but then later on they get bought by Viacom in 2000, then I can't add the new media group into broadcaster narratives. It just stays the same.

I believe there is an option to change everything on Broadcaster Changes apart from this. I think it would be a useful addition in relation to further realism/immersion, if it could be added into a patch. Thank you.

  11. For TEW2020, I would like the ability to be able to adjust the ticket prices for the AI's events (on the editor).

I feel this could be beneficial in a few ways.

#1 There is a lot of unrealistic attendances when hosting an event. Of course, when controlling a company, you can limit this yourself by setting the ticket prices to premium which changes an event from circa 10,000 (when using ''Normal'' pricing) to circa 4,000 (when changing to ''Premium'') - a more realistic figure.

It's always bugged me when TNA for instance would get at least 15,000+ attendances (for PPVs) on TEW games past and present, when their record domestic attendance in real life is 7,200.

#2 While running early tests on a mod that I'm working on, AJPW and NJPW start to struggle financially after their TV deals with Nippon TV & TV Asahi get renewed. Apart of the issue is, true to real life, I have set their venues to the likes of the Nippon Budokan (which holds around 14,000) for most of their events. Of course, if I didn't set a venue, then the companies would be hosting their events in front of 40/50,000+ every month.

However, If I was allowed to set the ticket prices for each individual event, then I could set their Nippon Budokan shows to ''Premium'' ticket pricing, which would make them more profit even from them, like they did in real life. And then, I could make the Tokyo Dome shows have ''Normal'' ticket prices - because there's no way they would sell out the Tokyo Dome with ''Premium'' prices on TEW. This same method can be used in America with the WWE for example. You could have WrestleMania as ''Normal'' ticket prices, so that you can fill a big stadium like they do in real life. Whereas for the normal-tier PPVs like Fastlane, TLC, etc. You can have them as ''Premium'' ticket prices, so they most likely end up in 10-25k seater venues - as opposed to the 40/50,000+ ones mentioned earlier.

Hopefully this makes sense and will be considered for a future TEW2020 patch.

  12. 25/4/2021 Update

We are now currently looking at 56 starting broadcasters and 76 starting broadcasting deals. We're open to any suggestions on European broadcasters to add from the 1997 time period. We currently have the likes of Eurosport, Canal+, DSF and RTL, but there might be more that have been overlooked. So, suggestions are most welcome.

A major part of this update has been getting RINGS done, and here's their top stars:

    M9HvkP6.png

  13. Is there a way to set the AI's ticket pricing?

For example, I could make the WWF or WCW charge premium priced tickets for their events. This, in theory, would minimise the attendances for PPVs more - right? It feels way too much when both companies are always doing at least 50k-seated (if not more) venues for all of their PPV events.

If there isn't an option to do this, then I will make the suggestion on the other part of the forum, but maybe I'm missing something and you can already do it...?

  14. <p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">12/4/2021 Update</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Progress has been steady since the last update! More company relationships, broadcasters, deals and worker relationships have been added, as well as move sets.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, much more Google spreadsheet groundwork has been laid by Jedaum. It's going to be very useful going forward. </p><p> </p><p>

The biggest movement was getting NJPW's full roster and contracts done, here is a sneak peak of them:</p><p> </p><p>

    <img alt="jLh1Cp9.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jLh1Cp9.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

  15. Very interested in this project, if you haven't already you should take a look at the wrestling observers (or the rewind summaries) from November and December, they are really interesting reads and give good insight into who was unavailable, what the politics/relationships were like, and why things happened the way they did.

Thank you for the interest! Yes, the Observer is going to be a very useful source for us. I seem to recall a lot of them around the time being (understandably) dominated by the Montreal Screwjob, but there’s other bits in there too that will be handy.

  16. wow looking good! never really followed the Japan scene but the detail of this mod looks awesome.. Looking forward to you posting a sneak preview of an american fed.

can i request to see stats/pop of some well known names?

    Thank you!

Eventually, we will be showing worker skills and popularities. But for now, we will just prefer to work on the mod and get stuff done, and then when the data is a lot more fleshed out and ready, we can show different screenshots depending on you guys' requests. I think it will work better like that. We just wanted to get an early screenshot out to show everybody that there are actions behind all of these words, especially since the Genadi news last week probably felt like a big setback to anyone that is following this thread closely.

I'm absolutely pumped for this mod, thanks!

Very happy to hear that! Thank you for your support!

Interesting company to start with. This era is full of potential superstars that never amounted to anything though all around the world. Good starting point for sure.

Yeah, there is so much talent out there at this point! Plus, the talent that will be future workers, debuting in the early 2000s and onwards. With the ''potential'' settings, we should be able to mould future debutants more realistically, which is exciting. I.E, AJ Styles won't have crazy good stats in the 1998-2001 period - at least that's the plan, anyway!

  17. <p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">29/3/2021 Update</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Since last week's announcement, we have made great progress!</p><p> </p><p>

After starting from scratch, we decided to focus on one company at a time. The first company has been All Japan Pro Wrestling. </p><p> </p><p>

For AJPW, we have created all of their wrestlers, title belts and history (the latter aided by Bigpapa42 who kindly let us import). Not just that, but as of writing this, we also have created 15 chemistries, 16 relationships, 13 tag teams, 1 announcers experience and 4 starting stables (with another prospective 2 on the way). That is for AJPW alone. </p><p> </p><p>

We have created 46 broadcasters so far, and 66 broadcasting deals too, which I would say is a high number considering the mod starts in 1997. </p><p> </p><p>

We have also set up 19 starting company relationships thus far. Some are working relationships of the time, while some are outright obvious (WWF vs. WCW), while one or two others are more subtle but realistic. Like for example AJW and ARSION start off with negative feelings, and then the relationship can develop from there.</p><p> </p><p>

Elsewhere, all events for ECW, WCW and WWF have been created. This includes ''dormant'' events. So, if you are playing with WWF and wanted to introduce Vengeance for example, as a Pay-Per-View in 1998, then you can do so without creating it yourself. The same for the UK PPV's WWF did, like Insurrextion. It wasn't possible to add them as an AI event, since that they would then benefit from full PPV revenue, rather than just Sky Box Office. This is the same for ECW and WCW - if you want ''Greed'', ''Sin'', ''New Blood Rising'', etc. from their final days, then that's all set up as dormant. Although I must say, I decided not to include ''Barely Legal'' for ECW - since Paul Heyman himself said that it would be a one-time thing.</p><p> </p><p>

On behalf of jeronimoe and myself, I want to say a big thank you to Jedaum. Since joining our team to work on the mod, he has been excellent. He possesses an excellent knowledge on Japanese wrestling (both male and female promotions), and will be later helping us with the lucha scene, too.</p><p> </p><p>

Last but not least, here is a screenshot from AJPW!</p><p> </p><p>

    <img alt="ngQRDce.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ngQRDce.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

This is also a sneak peek of what our picture pack will look like.</p>

  18. Really shocked about the Genadi thing - if you don't mind me asking, why is he so bothered if you edit the stats or not? I'm sure 99% of TEW users edit the data's they download before playing anyway. Genadis stats always seem to be very HIGH and lead to constant match ratings of 99/100... if thats what your into fair enough....

It’s tough for me to answer exactly why, but as it is his mod, he is more than entitled to do what he pleases. We wish him the best.

The truth is, this mod was always going to look very different to “Montreal Aftermath” anyway. We planned to do so much, from a brand-new pic pack (which is continuing to look more impressive with each passing day), to stats, popularities, bios and other things.

So, while it’s going to take longer to do, at least it is totally original and any “stigma” if you will, of a base being used, is pretty much broken as a result of this event.

You're more than welcome to use use my 1996 mod as a base or anything from it (Any of my mods in fact), its a few years off your planned start date but could be a better option than having to start from scratch.

    Thank you very much!

Following the news that we are starting from scratch, we have already had a few people offer their mods, or parts of their mods, as bases. It is greatly appreciated.

  19. An early update!

After some misunderstanding, we now won't be using Genadi's ''Montreal Aftermath'' as a base for Domino Effects. To cut a long story short, Genadi felt that jeronimoe and I were going to pretty much do a full conversion of Montreal Aftermath, without touching any stats or anything else.

However, our plan was always to alter the stats, popularity and many other things, as we feel differently about them. But since English isn't jeronimoe's first language, and as he was the person directly speaking to Genadi rather than me, that message got lost in translation somewhat.

Therefore, this mod will now be pretty much be built from scratch, rather than be used as a base.

Now, this of course will initially push the progress of the mod back, due to a lot more work inevitably being involved. However, the good news is, due to our previous presumption that we were having a free reign, we have already changed a lot of the mod, so it won't be as much work as you would think.

Lastly, there are no hard feelings whatsoever towards Genadi. The whole thing has been a misunderstanding. From his point of view, it's understandable why he wouldn't want somebody coming in and changing all of the stats that he has made. At the end of the day, he is a true pioneer for modding, and we respect his work a lot. On the other hand, we are really excited to be branching out onto our own path with our own identity.

  20. Thanks for all of your awesome comments! It's genuinely nice to know that there's a lot of excitement for this mod. We appreciate it.

Happy to help wherever, hit me up.

I'll be in touch, thank you!

The 2016 mod was good but if you take advantage of everything TEW 2020 has to offer this mod can be great. I'm hoping to finally doing an ECW save or be able to do an L2G with the goal of becoming a developmental territory of a major company.

I agree - there's a lot of opportunity with the new features on TEW2020. For example, some of the Japanese tours have been brutal to do (I'm talking to you, All Japan Women's), but it's sure going to be worth it.

Speaking of ECW, the new touring system has allowed us to successfully recreate ECW's Supercards, I.E the likes of CyberSlam, Holiday Hell, House Party, etc. in a way that's rather realistic. During tests, they've mostly filled the ECW arena while holding these events. I don't believe this would have been possible on TEW2016. On TEW 16, they would have had a PPV buy-rate out of it, as well as possibly a bigger attendance IIRC. However, under this model, it allows the likes of yourself and whoever else who plans to book ECW, a more realistic model that is suited to Paul E's at the time - without unrealistic financial and popularity gains. Lastly, if the player isn't playing as ECW, their business model gradually changes in around 1999-2000, in terms of hosting more PPVs like they did in reality, and thus becoming even more profitable. Again, this wouldn't be possible on TEW16.

Going back to PPV buy-rates... during testing, that is truly ECW's main source of income. Furthermore, their buy rates are very similar to the ones they got in real life - even years into testing. I'm very happy with the way ECW are turning out right now. It seems to be emulating a challenge of two fronts: trying to survive and trying to hold on to their stars, while searching for that elusive national cable TV deal (but not TNN, right?). Also, their popularity has been revised. In the light of their WWF exposure, the fact they had done two Pay-Per-Views, and to a lesser extent, their USWA feud, we felt that it was only right they got a boost (we feel the same re: their workers' popularity by the way).

So far, the AI is developing them just right, from the stretch of December 1997, to 2000, during tests.

There's still work to do on ECW. Not just alignments and the loan additions of The Great Sasuke & Tiger Mask IV, but I'm also planning to look into their hiring rules (this won't affect/prohibit the player) to replicate them even more, meaning that Paul E will hire younger talent like he did in real life (by and large). During a test, he made Monty Brown a star circa 2001-02, and then the WWF signed him. So there's good signs already on that front!

All in all, ECW should be a very fun experience for those that decide to play as them, or even indirectly use them as a feeder, due to the way they'll be set up with the AI.
