  1. My compliments on a very interesting world. I'm awaiting that USPW write up lol. That should be something. Looks like there was some chaos going on there.
  2. IMO somewhere in between. If a user saw no potential in the game the various changes that were made wouldn't convince them to play. If someone saw potential but were annoyed by certain aspects the patches have improved the experience and its possible addressed some of those annoyances. Put a different way the patches haven't changed what the game is but they have made it a better version of what it was intended to be. As far as TEW 2024 I'm not sure how much more can be done within the confines of the current game engine, programming language etc. To get a much better, more immersive game I think it needs to be done from the ground up. Again, just my opinion. BTW: I enjoy 2020. Not perfect but its fun. After getting used to it (and patches that improved / tweaked certain things) its my favorite in the series.
  3. Sometimes the best storylines are the ones that develop naturally, where the writer wonders what's next? As long as it doesn't involve a major promise you can't deliver on (Black Scorpion, "Higher Power"). I had John (Squeeky) McClean and Primus (Allen) as a lackey tag team that failed to accomplish their goals but I decided to have them bond and be loyal to each other despite taking abuse from their leader (and eventually getting kicked out). I didn't figure they had to be faces in order for the loyalty to work but eventually I pulled the trigger. They became tag champs too. Not planned. I also signed Dan Stone once and had him do an old school "gumshoe" gimmick complete with the narrative voice. He started in the Chase agency but was actually working undercover.
  4. A second one was stolen from the second Thrawn book series. Sorta. The theme of hiring an actor to portray an inspirational leader. So Sammy Bach leads a stable. Think House of Black or Judgment Day (or Ministry of Darkness). He's the degenerate rock god amped up with occult imagery and powers. He has a stable including Demonseed (Brandon James) Johnny Greed and BLZ Bubb. Its a resounding success with Bach elevating himself to the SWF World title. The main feud is with Valiant. One week on TV Bach isn't there because of a medical emergency with his daughter. Its revealed his daughter has a rare disease. Valiant decides to investigate. One week the show begins with Valiant savagely beating Johnny Greed. He is absolutely beside himself. He is sent home and suspended. So why is he destroying a minion? The next week we find out. Johnny Greed is the leader of this movement. He promised Bach that in return for acting in his role as rock god leader that he would set up Bach's daughter with special doctors that could cure his daughter. Except they weren't doing anything except making her sick. Valiant calls out Bach and says its all been a lie. They are making her sick to ensure his loyalty. Bach quits his position and he teams with Valiant to take on Greed's group.
  5. In a previous TEW I had Tommy Cornell and Wolf Hawkins feud over the TCW World Title. They were both part of the Syndicate. Wolf won it but there was soon dissention with him and Cornell. Cornell turned face. Wolf was an absolute cowardly champ - DQs, countouts, cheating wins, avoiding challengers etc. Tommy gets the title back and it turns out to be a farce, he's the same old heel he ever was. Meanwhile Wolf decides he wants a shot at redemption, a chance to be an honorable champ. So the feud continues but they are on opposite sides. Oh and Human Arsenal was the lieutenant for whichever one was the heel at the time and I think he was as if not more over than them in that role.
  6. On a related note. Is there any way to do the NWA screwy finish where the challenger A) Wins one fall of a 2/3 falls match then the champ gets DQed in the second fall so no title change or ... B) Wins the first fall then the next two go the time limit so the challenger wins 1 fall to 0 but doesn't win the belt since they had to win 2 falls. Old school NWA were very creative in their screwy finishes so the NWA champ could retain his title. Now I know the game won't do all that (anybody who became a fan after 1983 probably didn't even know such silliness existed) but is there a way for a challenger to win a 2/3 falls title match without winning the belt? Probably not I assume. One fall and use head canon and the "keep strong" note. (Note: I don't actually want to book this, I'm just curious if the game can do it lol).
  7. I suspect the upcoming C-Verse 2022 mod will address many of those. The roster management issues you mentioned (older workers being pushed, inflated rosters, not signing promising indy workers) are more in game AI issues. Some judicious edits could guide the game to do better perhaps.
  8. I like HFH but I'm not big on the name but I can and do change that. Robbie projects to be a good Miz type (wrestler - manager more about his mouth). Ranger is always tagged as a future star and all the vets offer to put him over. Ekuma is a quality big man. Take Ekuma & HFH, spruce them up a bit gimmick wise and feud them with The Awesomeness (more young stars unmentioned). That can be the cornerstone of the tag division. Lets not forget Steven Parker, Lenny Brown, Masked Patriot (gimmick has to go though, its 2020) etc. Still not enough? Plenty of free agents to sign.
  9. Honest question: why not just set the workers back 5 years or so? You can also de-age their skills or not (though Aerial & Flashiness get too big a bump when you do that). I get it wouldn't be canon but if the data as is doesn't work well why not make some adjustments until it does?
  10. This is part of improving the overall AI of game controlled companies. One funny habit the AI has is not going after a free agent until I go after them. Yes that might happen in real life on occasion (as a defensive signing, wanting someone and having no current plans or trying to drive the price up) but more often than not if a company wants someone they'll try to sign them before a rival drags them into a bidding war
  11. I'm going to go with back the Brinks truck up to WWE headquarters and buy the trademark. WWE's name game isn't always on point but that's a home run on that one. Failing that, Elijah Adonis.
  12. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Captain Kayfabe" data-cite="Captain Kayfabe" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="54034" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Yes, and include the participants in the match rated on Overness and Offscreen.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Or onscreen because he's introducing them before a match so they are on screen.</p><p> </p><p> A great idea to simulate ring announcers. I guess the best fit would be on screen personality for role (unless they do something else too).</p>
  13. I was one of them. I just got cable two weeks prior. I was excited to see the WWF on WOR but decidedly less excited to see Vince take over the Georgia promotion I heard so much good about (and I loved the sound of the ring). Being in Florida I still got my "Gordon Solie wrestling" fix via the Florida territory. The stuff they were doing in 83-84 was incredible. Way ahead of its time.
  14. You make it a default that when a large company like the WWF or WCW (or even AEW) signs with a broadcaster that broadcaster only shows programming from that one company. I can't think of an example past the mid 80s where a broadcaster had the WWE or WCW and something else (aside from perhaps broadcast stations having B level syndicated shows from both in the late 80s, early 90s). To make it more fun if a company grows they can steal the exclusive broadcaster from the other company when the contract comes due (example if AEW got big enough they replace Smackdown on Fox). That would be a fun addition to the "war" or rivalry aspect and a way to dunk on your competition. Plus it would increase your company's prestige and force your rival to a lower network. Maybe it works different in other parts of the world so that has to be considered as well.
  15. I think it would be interesting to start a game where everyone is on the lowest or second lowest scouting level and extreme variance. Maybe that worker you like with bad stats becomes a diamond in the rough. You won't know until you try it. The answer to the original question is Mick Muscles.
  16. I agree in modern wrestling but it did kinda happen in 1984-85 when TBS had the WWF and two traditional NWA promotions (Georgia and Mid-South). Georgia was the promotion that rose up out of the ashes of the one the WWF bought and kicked off TBS. NWA promoters were very mad at Vince's expansion. To the point of violent rumors (which never surfaced but they really hated him).
  17. Still have to pay for the next 6 months (or however long the contract has if its under 6 months). Best way to do this is to go into the editor and terminate the contract after the vaca is up. Or before the vaca set the contract to expire in 90 (or 84) days. Why 84? Because TEW's calendar works different. 28 days to a month. So to me 84 simulates that better in the TEW game (three months) than 90 days but YMMV.
  18. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="theeaglexiii" data-cite="theeaglexiii" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47568" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So AEW continue the eons-long tease that Wardlow is gonna turn face in the MJF/Punk feud. Personally, it’s so telegraphed at this point that I’m hoping it turns out to be a red herring just to play with audience expectations.<p> </p><p> If I was to do this in game - i.e. prepare Wardlow for a turn and after a while cancel it - what would happen? I presume there’s no benefit to the story and it won’t recognise the tease was a swerve. But do the affects just cancel out or is there a penalty for not following through?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I haven't noticed any ill effects for cancelling a turn. </p><p> </p><p> And AEW should start with MJF treating Wardlow better (it was a swerve) but still duplicitous. If Wardlow continues to allow himself to be treated like dirt the audience will view him as a cuck. Pretend its over and spring it up later (like after Wardlow wins a title or prize and MJF tries to claim it as part of the contract).</p>
  19. Kind of the "sister" of the "Who pushes terrible workers because of their render?" So who edits characters they like to make them more useful? And which ones? Example: I've always been tempted to edit Big Smack Scott to make him the ultimate Scott Steiner. Mic skills and star quality of Big Poppa Pump along with the athleticism and skill of his tag team days. I guess with many bad habits and such lol. I'm also tempted to buff Angry Gilmore even more at times but I don't do it in 2020 since him getting older makes the fascination wear off. I think of him as prime CM Punk. 2020 Gilmore is today's CM Punk.
  20. The other way to simulate a cash in is to have it as a match aim. When active the rating doesn't hurt (or help) the show and the title prestige doesn't go down (or in the latter case the title prestige gain or loss could be based on the perception level of the new champ, not the match rating).
  21. Just as it says. This would allow the user to center their show around a match other than the last match. The player would still have to decide which match is the main event via a checkbox "Make This the Main Event" (so this isn't a workaround so that the best match is automatically the main event), this would simply remove the requirement of it being the last match. This would accomplish the following: Allow the player to do a short "cash in" and gain a title without tanking the main event (while still getting the mechanics correct and not having to get around the system by making it a triple threat or an angle). Properly simulate classic Saturday Night Main Event and current AEW Rampage shows that commonly have the "real main event" first (or in SNME's case somewhere in the middle).
  22. It would allow the user to be able to not worry about exact times for the segments. So instead of deciding if the match should be 13, 15 or 17 minutes it would just be one segment (or maybe short, medium, long categories being 1,2 or 3 segments). Outside of the confines of having to fit those segments into a certain time frame I would say it would be easy to say 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes. This is a throwback to EWR where you had so many segments and each match or angle was one segment. It might be nice to think in terms of short, medium, long, epic instead of minutes (the longer taking up more show segments) but I'm fine with minutes. I certainly wouldn't go back to EWR. Segment lengths are a vital strategy.
  23. A couple of suggestions: Take one of the big three, keep however many you need that balances out the challenge vs not enough for four companies, release the others (pregame) and go at it. Don't resign the people you released pregame for a period of time (or assign them to one of the other two). This option keeps the workers popularity balanced as intended. Alternately start your independent company, pick some workers that would be available and edit their popularity to be top guys (and ladies if applicable) in a company the size that you want. This pop edit simulates the push you gave them pregame. This would alter the pop balance of course so that should be considered. I feel like the Cverse is a fantasy world intended to enhance my enjoyment of the game. While its fun to stick to canon as much as possible (for discussions with fellow Cverse players) it is in the end all about enjoyment. I do keep a copy of the default to work back to if I don't like how my edits play out. As far as the issues with USPW not being active enough with signing talent and such try the Cornellverse 2018 mod. They signed several top stars and are more in line with the description you gave. TCW might be what you are looking for in that mod. I suspect the 2022 mod from the same person (or group) will have similar traits.
  24. How about a way to disable it for an individual worker? So that someone who wanted to relive the mid 80s wouldn't have Hulk Hogan capped at 80 (or have to raise his stats to absurd levels to prevent it). Doing it per individual (along with a warning box stating the consequences of widespread use as Adam stated every time a user does it) would prevent people from breaking their games. If someone goes crazy with it and their game is unplayable that's on them. Bottom line is a game is supposed to be fun. If someone wants a scenario where an icon is an icon (Flair, Hogan, Austin, Rock etc.) I think its ok to accommodate that if possible. Edit: This would only be available in the regular editor, not the in game one. It would basically force that worker's destiny roll to be a good one. Putting it in the in game editor might lead to game breaking actions. I get the need to try to prevent that as it leads to disgruntled players.
