While the outcome may not affect any of the other competitors, it sure is a matter of pride for both men, neither of which wants to finish their first ever Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix with no points.</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> This one is about pride and avoiding the bottom spot so it's bound to be exciting, even if it ends up as a time limit draw.</p><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong> Animal Harker stands above those two at five points. His scheduled opponent is none other than "Machine Gun" Bunrakuken Torii and even if he somehow manages to win, there is no way he can hope to be the one on top of the rankings for the A Block.</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> Harker knows this isn't about the points. A victory over Torii could be huge for him going forward and he will fight tooth and claw for it. Which means Torii shouldn't take things for granted, as Harker could potentially cost him the last few valuable points he needs to win the block.</p><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong> Torii will be fighting for survival here, not only must he win, he must also hope Whitlock versus Vanzycha ends in a draw so he can advance. It will be interesting to see what happens if Vanzycha wins though, as the tie-breaker between him and Torii also ended in a draw.</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> Which leads us to the final A block match between Whitlock and Vazycha. As mentioned, Vanzycha wants nothing short of a win here to top the block but so does Whitlock, unless Torii loses his match before him. Should Torii win and hit 8 points, Whitlock will want to avoid a draw against Vanzycha as he too drew against Torii.</p><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong>That's three potential winners for the A block, let's now look at what the B Block standings look like</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45613" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>B Block standings</strong></p><p> Storm Spillane: 7</p><p> Blast Ikoma: 6</p><p> Bulldozer Brandon Smith: 6</p><p> Rob Reynolds: 3</p><p> Masayuki Shiga: 2</p><p> Yuki Horigoshi: 0</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong> Yuki Horigoshi takes the bottom spot at zero points, not a good run in his first ever Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix and it doesn't look any better for him as his final opponent will be Rob Reynolds.</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> Reynolds is the clear favorite in this matchup but even a victory over Horigoshi won't be enough to make him the winner of the B block.</p><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong> Next to last is the venerable Masayuki Shiga at 2 points, his only victory so far over the aforementioned Horigoshi. Shiga will be wrestling Storm Spillane who's on top of the rankings and to make matters worse, he has been reported as having picked up a slight neck injury courtesy of a Blast Ikoma suplex during their latest match.</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> Odds are in Spillane's favor but Smith and Ikoma aren't far behind. Shiga's resilience is well documented and if the veteran is able to deprive Spillane of any points, this could mean a fall from the top of the scorecard.</p><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong> Speaking of those two, Smith and Ikoma will be hoping for a Shiga victory so they can maintain hope of advancing to the final. Even a draw won't help them, since Spillane has beaten both in their individual matchups.</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> No matter the outcome before their match though, both men will want to do well and defeat each other; Ikoma would love nothing more than to pick up where he left off last year and hopefully break away from Torii's shadow, whereas Smith will be out to reclaim his spot as BCG's top gaijin monster.</p><p> <strong>Inoue:</strong> Right before the final match though, it's a stables clash between the Seven Samurai and Coast to Coast. Funakoshi and Team Taku have been clashing with the Partnership of Pain and either Naozane Goto throughout the month and of course this is all leading up to the big title match between the TagMania 4 winners and the BCG World Tag Team champions!</p><p> <strong>Kawamata:</strong> Opening the show before that is a young lion three way tag match; Miyake and Utagawa representing the Seven Samurai against Katou and Serizawa of Puroresu-gun. Eikichi Itou of Coast to Coast will be teaming with ousted former Puroresu-gun member Kyuichi Matsumoto and given Matsumoto's love for powerbombs and spinebusters, I wouldn't be surprised to see him join that stable after all.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45613" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="1V04m46.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1V04m46.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <strong>Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix final</span></p><p> Winner of Block A vs Winner of Block B</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Three Way Faction match</span></p><p> Seven Samurai (Funakoshi & Team Taku) vs Coast to Coast (Powers of Pain & Naozane Goto)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>B Block match</strong></p><p> Blast Ikoma (Puroresu-gun, 6 points) vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith (Coast to Coast, 6 points)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>A Block match</strong></p><p> Pavel Vanzycha (No affiliation, 6 points) vs Sterling Whitlock (Rogue Troopers, 7 points)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>B Block match</strong></p><p> Masayuki Shiga (Seven Samurai, 2 points) vs Storm Spillane (Rogue Troopers, 7 points)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>A Block match</strong></p><p> Animal Harker (Coast to Coast, 5 points) vs Bunrakuken Torii (Puroresu-gun, 6 points)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>B Block match</strong></p><p> Rob Reynolds (Rogue Troopers, 3 points) vs Yuki Horigoshi (Puroresu-gun, 0 points)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>A Block match</strong></p><p> Conner Threepwood (Coast to Coast, 0 points) vs Kiyotaka (Puroresu-gun, 0 points)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening match</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Three way young lion tag match</span></p><p> Motoyuki Miyake & Shuzo Utagawa (Seven Samurai) vs Gidayu Katou & MUSCLE Serizawa (Puroresu-gun) vs Eikichi Itou (Coast to Coast) & Kyuichi Matsumoto (No affiliation)</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

  10. The big seven footer let the bar drop on the ground with a bang as he finished up his final set of deadlifts. It was good to be working out in his home garage once again. This was his first time back in Finland since he left in 2014 to train under Lee Wright at the Piledriver Wrestling School and he'd still spent most of this holiday season pumping iron instead of reconnecting with family. Reality had hit him hard. A lifelong wrestling fan, he thought his size alone would soon have USPW or SWF calling, but they never did. He was no Primus Allen. He needed to learn how to work the mic and work in the ring. When the Sheik kicstarted the promotional part of the company, Annihilus knew this was his chance to show what he can do. This would be his launching pad. He had gone on a tear for most of 2016 until eventually losing to Riley McManus in the final show of the year. Their feud was probably the hottest thing going in the company. After months of planning out promos and putting matches together, their working relationship soon grew to mutual respect and proper friendship. Riley would carry him throughout the matches and sell like his life depended on it, making Annihilus look like an absolute beast, then they'd go out to grab dinner together after the show. The big super heavyweight was confident 2017 would be even better. He and Riley had their contracts extended and he had a bunch of great potential opponents to feud with, from Buck and Xavi to Logan. He would learn and improve and grow and build up his name value. The promotion was flirting with bankruptcy, so he had to make it big and do so fast.

It's a two count only, but Rojo is reeling from the effect and quickly tags in Flame. The former womens champion unloads on McFly, forcing her to tag in an eager Winters, who adds a splash of MMA facing off against Flame. Svelte tags herself in and immediately starts working the leg of Flame, looking to deprive her of her arsenal of kicks. Things slow down and the two fight it out on the mat, until a rope break allows Diamond to get the hot tag. Svelte gets whipped to the ropes for a series of bulldogs, dropkicks and lariats, but in one of the whips, Winters blind tags herself in as Sawyer distracts the referee with his complaining. Diamond is thrown off focus and Winters has time to set up her Flying Knee finisher, catching "Rough" Diamond square in the jaw for the pin.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Sawyer Sports Services, by pinfall after "Playboy" Jake Sawyer interfered</strong></p><p> <img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="OfAzWpQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OfAzWpQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> "Glorious" Logan Wolfsbaine cuts a promo on Jules Knight, saying Knight's had one hell of a training at the Piledriver School of Wrestling, but that won't be good enough to bring him victory against him tonight.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="OfAzWpQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OfAzWpQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="GIRKb76.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GIRKb76.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ys4hD4n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ys4hD4n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong>"Glorious" Logan Wolfsbaine vs Jules Night</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Night is out to contain his opponent with an array of submission holds, including a very policeman-like one that sees him control Wolfsbaine's wrists behind his back on the floor as if about to handcuff him, though Knight goes full into police brutality mode, stomping on the back of Logan's head instead. 18. <p>As soon as I signed the final contract, I let my head drop onto the pile of paperwork and found myself giggling. We hadn't even managed to draw a three digit crowd yet, but here I was signing worker contracts. Perks of sticking to the gimmick 24/7, I had insisted all contracts were drafted and signed formally as if this was USPW. Wonder if my scribble of a signature and stage name were legally binding at all or whether everyone was just playing along. Whatever the case, they stuck around. Thanksbeating had been another successful show, despite sinking us further into the financial gutter so bad that Lee offered to work for free. We were still afloat. Contracts had actually come up for extension and no one turned down the offer. Violent Night would mark our first full year in the business. We were running on sheer goodwill and stubborness but hey, isn't pro wrestling one big hustle after all?</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46150" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</strong></p><p><strong> Thanksbeating 2016</strong></p><p> Saturday, Week 4 November, 2016</p><p> Live from the Rainbow Bar & Grill, FL</p><p> Free shrimp to anyone attending!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Piledriver title match</span></p><p> Rockin' Ryan Turner © vs Austin "Easy Money" Smooth</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Last Man Standing match</span></p><p> "The Monster" Annihilus vs Riley McManus</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Payback match</strong></p><p> "The Avenging Angel" Druss vs Cip Conduit</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Special Singles match</strong></p><p> "Glorious" Logan Wolfsbaine vs Jules Night</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opener</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Six Women Tag Team match</span></p><p> Sawyer Sports Services (McFly, Svelte & Winters) vs Seeing Red (Rojo, Flame & Diamond)</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

After the initial exchange, Svelte comes in to slow things down a bit with some shoot style submission wrestling, though she keeps the pace fast as she frantically spins around looking for a limb to stretch. Rojo eventually turns a sleeper hold into a modified samoan drop for the breather and finally manages to tag in her partner. Diamond comes in all fired up and assaults Svelte, who retreats to her corner. Winters blind-tags herself in to turn the tide but Rojo tags herself in too, blocks a kick and scoops her up for the Running Powerbomb finish while Diamond dives off the apron onto Sawyer and Svelte.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Pamela Rojo & Olivia "Rough" Diamond, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="IgA1djG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IgA1djG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="GIRKb76.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GIRKb76.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8fSINjf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8fSINjf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="GIRKb76.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GIRKb76.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="OfAzWpQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OfAzWpQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> #1 Contender Three Way Elimination match</strong></p><p><strong> Austin "Easy Money" Smooth vs Cip Conduit vs "Glorious" Logan Wolfsbaine</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Up against a rowdy brawler and a big powerhouse, Smooth's technical style doesn't exactly pay dividends and he's the first one to eventually find himself recovering outside the ring. This gives the other two competitors enough space to lock horns and trade blows. Wolfsbaine is clearly the better wrestler but the rutheless Conduit manages a dastardly thrust kick between his opponents' legs while the referee was distracted by a recovering Smooth climbing onto the apron. With Wolfsbaine eliminated like that, Conduit turns to Smooth but gets caught into a series of submission holds. His tactics seem to pay off as Annihilus looks more and more frustrated, especially without the Sheik at ringside to hold his reins. This all builds up to a frustrated charge towards McManus standing on the apron, only for the Georgia native to pull down the ropes and use the bounce for his Slingshot Suplex on the monster! A spectacular spot this may be, but the problem is he hits it off the apron to the outside and there's no chance he can drag Annihilus back to the ring. 22. <p><em>"Screw this!"</em></p><p> </p><p> Buck Winchester was never a man of many words so of course neither was his wrestling persona, but the few he'd spit out really hit home. He'd made his way backstage first after the final bell, leaving Turner to take in the boos as the show wrapped up. He was bruised and he was spent. Barely bothering to hold the icepack in place above his eyebrow where Turner hit him with the CD case, he shoved bodies aside as he made his way to the showers.</p><p> </p><p> Buck had been one of my first signings. He'd almost made it as my chief ultra-American rival, before I trusted that role to the more experienced McManus. Buck understood he was the rookie and kept his head down, working hard show after show. I never expected him to get so over with the fans, at least not so soon, but I guess being the one to send off a bunch of other workers made him look pretty bad ass. The ability to have great matches with pretty much everyone probably had something to do with it too. None of it mattered tonight though. Blame was on me. I had put him out there to wrestle for twenty plus minutes and it got him exposed. He ran out of gas and the gimmick ran out of steam. I had to keep it in mind for future bookings, but for now, I had to give him a pep talk. Sheik Ali Al-Avatar at ringside tries to guide his client around the situation, but his screams only annoy fans, so when Wolfsbaine takes him out with a suicide dive he gets a massive pop for it. This leaves Ferrera alone in the ring, but lucky for him, an eager Cip Conduit blind-tags himself in and unloads on the former champion. Meanwhile, the Sheik hasn't forgotten his days as a wrestler and backstabs Wolfsbaine with a kendo stick shot to the mid section while the referee is busy trying to get an angry Annihilus out of the ring. Things further fall apart when the situation turns into an argument between the heel teammates that quickly gets physical, while Ferrera is busy helping his partner against the Sheik. Annihilus ends up press slamming Conduit and tosses him out at ringside on everyone else, then leaves the ring to pull the Sheik's body out of the wreckage and drag him backstage as the referee calls for the bell to throw the match.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: No contest</strong></p><p> <img alt="7nXiDsK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7nXiDsK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="SksMV5w.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SksMV5w.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Up on the rafters in his long trenchcoat and looking down on the scene of the crime is none other than TITAN Factory superstar "The Avenging Angel" Druss!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="ejbjbKm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ejbjbKm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Backstage, "Cowboy" Buck Winchester cuts a promo on Rockin' Ryan Turner, who he's scheduled to face tonight for the Piledriver Championship. The recent influx of PGHW imports has dethroned him as the promotion's top gaijin heel and even if he doesn't end up winning the Grand Prix, Smith can at least reclaim his spot at the top of that mountain.</p><p> Key matches: Against Rob Reynolds and Storm Spillane.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> "100% Machine" Yuki Horigoshi joined BCG and Puroresu-gun with much fanfare but has since failed to deliver upon the hype.
