1. I dont know about PPV, but you can put events on commercial broadcasters. Which I guess is just a TV show in a different hat really. 4× monthly 90 minute "events" (weekly events have penalties, monthly dont) is better in every way that I can see.

TV might get more viewers, but I dont see any more broadcast revenue. Less pop gains. Lower ticket sales. If there are more eyeballs, they dont actually do anything.

Why do weekly events have penalties?

  2.
Okay so I'm trying to plan out how my first few shows are going to go and I'm in need of some advice.

So...I've got four guys I intend to build around. A brawling babyface (think Texas Torando), a grappling babyface (think Rick Steiner), a cocky heel (think Rick Rude) and a monster heel (think Ryback/Wardlow). I'm going to hire four established "stars" to job out to my guys. A dastardly heel (think Terry Funk), a chicken sh*t heel (think MJF), a fired-up babyface (think Brian Pillman) and selling babyface (think Jungle boy/Ricky Steamboat).

The perfect combinations as far as I can see it are to have my brawling babyface (Texas Tornado) in a program with my dastardly heel (Terry Funk), my Grappling baby face (Rick Steiner) in a match/program with my chicken sh*t heel (MJF), my cocky heel (Rick Rude) in a match/program with my fired-up babyface (Brian Pillman) and my monster heel (Wardlow) in a match/program with my selling babyface (Jungleboy).

The question is do I throw them together for the first show to get the perfect start or do I save those matches for later but potentially have slightly less well matched matches on my first show?

If I do use those matches for my first show, then what do I use for the subsequent shows?

It seems like I shouldn't have my babyface brawler or babyface grappler job in their first performance but if they go over clean then doesn't that take the steam out of their program with their opponent? The other option is to book a smoz finish (DQ or CO) but surely that will hurt the fan rating...

So, yeh, I'm a little confused about how to keep things ticking over with such a small roster.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

  3. Thanks for the good tips.

I guess my initial thoughts were to have 8 guys on the roster who were "my" guys. I'd run a show a week. I was thinking that I could have two tag matches and 4 singles matches. Then I realised that I'd be over-using and over-exposing my talent. I'd also have the problem of either jobbing out half of my roster constantly or rotating wins so no one ever got any momentum.

I then thought that I could bring in outside talent to job for my talent but that would mean doubling my roster which is too much.

The option that makes the most sense to me now having reading your great advice would be to take on 4 guys as "my guys" and then bring in 4 outside talent for a month to do the job for my guys and then replace them every month.

    Is that a good idea?

  4. Hi,

I'm about to dig in to TEW20 for the first time and I was thinking of creating my own promotion and adding it a real life mod.

The general characeristics of the save would be to try to keep it as much like real life as possible. So the promotion would be small/local. The product would be something like Old School Rasslin' or one of its close relatives. I'd definitely like to have good solid wrestling matches.

My question is really a general one. Do you have any tips or advice for me?

What size of roster should I be looking at? What profile of wrestler? What kind of events should I be putting on and how often? What should my cards look like.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Can you change a workers Alter Ego during a show (so have Alter Ego #1 in the first match & Alter Ego #2 in the fifth match for example)? That would be terrific if it were possible. I'd save so much money.

  6.
Lol. Good to know.

On the same sort of topic...

It feels like without a Supercard to build towards there's not really anywhere that my booking can head but I don't know if there's going to be the fan interest for a supercard any time soon. New company, no TV, lots of unknown workers.etc

Should I plan to run one anyway? If I have it too soon then I won't have built up my card enough and if I leave it too long my feuds will have all burned out already. So, how long should I leave it to get the right balance?

  7.
Angles and feuds when you don't have TV

    Stupid question time.

If you don't have a TV show and you're just running regular live shows is there still a point to having angles and feuds? The reason I ask is that without the commentators, video packages and graphics that come with a TV show how are the fans experiencing the angles and following the feuds?

  8. 1-yes there are "trends" and certain products can gain/lose momentum in certain areas over time. In the editor go under "Game World->Trends" and you can see the pre-set product popularity for the mod you are using

Thanks for that reply, I've found the screen you mean. Trends only seem to apply to World Areas (US/Mexico.etc) and not In-Game Regions (Mid-South/Great Lakes/Mid Atlantic.etc). It was the latter that I was thinking of.

So, if I am understanding, Mid-South doesn't have a trend or fondness for any style but the US as a whole does? I'd certainly like to see that changed in future releases.

    Thanks again.

  9.
Product

    (1) Are certain products more popular than others and can certain products be more popular in certain areas?

I'm basically asking because I'm currently designing a company to use in a modern (real world mod) game that uses an Old School Rasslin' style product. In real life I'd worry that not enough modern fans would "get" old school rasslin'. Is this going to be an issue in TEW?

    (2) Is there a penalty for switching the 'Alter Ego' of a jobber regularly? I'm thinking of ways to keep costs down and being able to stick a mask on a jobber one week but have them wrestle as themselves the next week would be very useful.

    (3) Is it possible to film a tv show and have it air on a different date? and is it possible to film more than one episode on a live show. So the first half hour of the live show would be tv show #1 (to be shown the following week) and the second half hour of the live show would be for tv show #2 (to be shown two weeks later).
