  1. How good are Marvin and Zap where you're at? The crawl to 17/18 pop is pretty easy. Afterwards it's a tad trickier. I've enjoyed both Marvin and Zap. They're a long way from getting the push tho on my end.

Im not playing solely for grades so I don't really enjoy tossing in say Whole Lotta Marvin on the mic every week when I don't feel like it's legitimately moving forward his feud with Southern Comfort. Southern Comfort is very Shield-like for me so they retain their legitimacy by swarming and beating up people. That doesn't get good ratings but that's what the story dictates for me so I go for it.

Getting a weekly is a double edged sword. If you grow too fast without your roster being able to keep up you might get a bit stuck.

Would love for you to post about how your game is progressing. I dig seeing how other people are playing them. I think it'll be especially fun once you start having that roster turnover and get grads. Or tough if you lose your ratings maker.

I've gotten Marvin up to 20 pop but that's mostly on Texas Justice being great in ring. I've kept them strong by having them win all multi man matches but Marvin never takes the pin. I had Marvin win the March tournament over two members of Texas Justice. Zap is totally gonna be stalled at 17/18 until he gets better in the ring and while he's improving there is no way he'll be ready for anything until next year at best. I added a weekly show in June. Only ran two weekly shows so far and I'm enjoying using Deever, Good, LaRoux, and Jewett boost up some of the other workers on the roster. Totally thinking of using the idea of hiring a couple of jobbers and a couple of veterans to help boost the roster.

  2. I'm about 5 shows in and while I wish I read this thread first I can say that there is nothing wrong with giving Zap and Marvin the mic every show. It didn't take long for me to get this guys up there in pop fairly quickly. But I really do have to mix in a weekly show or something because the one monthly show is not allowing me to increase pop fast enough.
  3. <p>So in trying to even out the technico/rudo divide I've signed Velvet Suarez, Christy Higgins, and Catalina Velasquez. Depending how that all works I might also bring in DupliKate and Joanna Silver based on nothing other than both of these two characters being favorites of mine.</p><p> </p><p>

The male side has a way bigger divide. Since I have to bring in Chess Maniac(I mean seriously you should have to), I've also decided to turn Mr. Lucha III back to a technico. I've also signed all of the Phoenix graduates, Doctor Technico, and Kid Fantastic. I'm also thinking about Felipe Caballero but don't really want to waste the gains I've been making on the technico side.</p>

  4. Personally I'm a little annoyed at where SUKI is in comparison to where he was with GCG last game. So I plan on bringing in Ryobe Uno and Danjuro Kikuchi(GCG alum's who are also good technical wrestlers, which with the technical masterclass requirement is helpful) to team with SUKI and the 2 young lions from GCG and have me my own Golden Army. I'm thinking SUKI winning the grand prix would make sense and I'd have him beat the defending champ Matsushita in the finals.

Don't think I'm gonna crown him though. I like the idea of him being a guy who feels like a mega star but for whatever reason doesn't quite make it to the top, kinda like Minoru Suzuki in NJPW. Guy was/is a mega star but he never quite got the big title win. Also feels like a fun future feud with SUKI and Furusawa in that Furusawa never joins the GCG stable and he already had a title run so he fits in and the bitter SUKI is still looked at as an outsider.

I've also always had a soft spot for Goto and Matsushita. I'm going to try a monster push with both guys and see what I can get out of them. Might try a tag team with those guys as well. Overall though I find BCG is in such an interesting spot in this game and I can't wait for a long term save.

  5. I'm so happy this company is still active and also apparently thriving with a Dojo even!! I'm a big fan of the GCG workers they added in Furusawa and SUKI and the last of the GCG dojo workers appear to have some potential. Have only booked one show but another thing that's noticeable is it feels like some of these guys have improved. Kinda shocking the ratings I was getting from guys like Giant Brody and Naozane Goto! I'm probably not going to do much booking until the full game comes out as all I did was spend four hours yesterday going over the rosters and new workers and I'll probably just read the handbook over the weekend. But I'm so psyched that I'll get to continue playing as BCG!
  6. In the Cornellverse I'm running a regionally sized lucha libre promotion out of Puerto Rico named Gulf Coast Lucha Libre, and in an alliance I created with CILL and EMLL . Just netted a spot on Los Deporte Hoy and had my first episode of Batalla Alrededor del Golfo ("Battle Around the Gulf" in English):

Main Event: Kirk Jameson defeated Billy Russell for the GCLL Gulf Championship

Kirk Jameson saved Kid San Juan from a two-on-one beatdown after he lost to Rudy Velasquez (due to cheating on the part of Hector Galindo).

Lobo Blanco defeated Anarchist for the GCLL Puerto Rico Championship

El Mitico Jr. lost to Jesus Chavez

Electric Blue (Electric Dreamer/Aguila Azul Celeste) defeated Purple Viper/Mystery Pink after Electric Dreamer pinned Mystery Pink. ED will go on to face Purple Viper for the GCLL Luchadora Championship next episode of BAG. This match also saw Purple Viper establish a legendary gimmick (Snake) and was the first time in my entire time playing this game I got a note about the young women demographic being happy about a worker winning a match (it did a D rating).

Ejército de las Tinieblas (Slayyer/Delirium/Vladamire*) defeated Reyes de Gatos (Amo Del Gato/Silver Tiger) & Mr Lucha III in a 2-out-of-3 falls lucha match for the GCLL Trios Championship.

Cyclops defeated Xavi Ferrera** with the High Fly Eye

Chess Manic defeated Logan Wolfsbane** with the Checkmate in the opening match

The next episode of BAG will see:

    • Kirk Jameson defend his newly won title against Rudy Velasquez.
    • Kid San Juan team with "The Lone Wolf" Lobo Blanco to try to get some measure of revenge against The Latino kings (Hector Galindo/Jesus Chavez)
    • Electric Dreamer vs. Purple Viper for the GCLL Luchadora Championship.
    • Ejército de las Tinieblas, Billy Russell, and Cyclops in action!

    *my Avatar

** These two were fired the same day from PSW and I snapped them up thinking I could mold them into future stars for my company in time, plus one of them being Puerto Rican and both coming from the same promotion seemed like a story I could work with.

I hired Calypso Jim, aka Bobo Brazil Jr., in a RW game once who injured three people in a row, including my avatar, and New Jack so badly it forced him to retire (which was a blessing in disguise, as he became a manager). I started calling him BooBoo Brazil Jr. after that.

I swear Electric Dreamer is the only person I've ever gotten that notice with

Kinda all over the place with some of these but this is actually pretty hard.

  8. I disagree with this. This past decade for sure IRL we have seen New Japan, NOAH, Dragon Gate, DDT, and Stardom all borrowing talent at various points in time.

Isn't that all the MJM is basically?

On topic if I am playing as MAW or CZCW then I'll make a big COTT Invitational show once or twice a year. Something like a CZCW vs MAW live event for example.

It's not just the borrowing talent, it's that the MJM groups don't do a touring schedule. Before MJM every Japanese group had a touring schedule. This more than anything created BCG(my favorite company).

  9. I see all the "big name" MAW guys being gone, predictions go:

Gauge: PGHW - Kinda following his brothers footsteps who went to BHOTWG.

Wolfe: CGC - His dad has legacy in Canada, it just kinda makes sense

Remus: TCW - The work rate promotion seems like a good fit.

The Dynamite Express: NOTBPW - Really solid workers seem like a good fit to replace Robinson & Bennett.

Miller Fforde: CZCW - Once his consistency problem is worked out it feels like he's a better fit for this company than he ever was for MAW.

The Architect: PSW - One of the overlooked things about The Architect is that he's a liberal, which makes him open to death matches! Always felt like he'd be an awesome fit there.

Another prediction is that MAW isn't a feeder fed necessarily for a bigger company but is one for COTT. Roster I'd see for them would probably look something along the lines of:

    ME: DeMarcus, Blaze, Deadline

UM: Copperhead, Phoenix IV, Pilgrim, Riley McManus

M: Gray, Triumph, Liotta, Needham, Garry The Entertainer

LM: Robin DaLay, Simon Waves, Hawkeye Calhoun, Jules Night

    O: 3 or MAW Graduates

Because if it's in Mexico, off the top of my head, you have La Estrella, Crazy Miguel, Jose Flamenco, Ajax The Skull Splitter (best to stick him in his Criatura de la Navidad gimmick for that), Guerrero Muerto (surprisingly), and a few others.<p> </p><p> Basically, you want to look for a minimum of Great Comedy Performance and ideally a healthy amount of Charisma to boot. It helps if they're actively working a Comedy gimmick as well.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Payaso Jr, Soda De La Uva Jr, and Mascara Delfin off the top of my head.</p>
  11. Feel like this has been asked already but this thread is MASSIVE so might as well ask again. I'm running a local company and for some reason just stopped gaining pop. I"m running shows in the high 50's to low 60's and I've been at 10.9 pop for about 9 months now. Is there something I'm specifically missing in the game world that is preventing me from gaining pop or something else I'm missing?
  12. Hirobumi Takimoto! I've had very good luck with him in my save(s). Got lucky enough to have good chemistry with Naozane Goto and they had a short title run up to the point that Goto did what Goto does and got mad about a disciple issues and left the company.

How's attendance been up to this point? Where are you finishing in the regional battle? Have you been really raided yet?

  13. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Bigpapa42" data-cite="Bigpapa42" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41393" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Thanks El Horse. <p> </p><p> So rolling with a BCG save. An entire 2 weeks in. Just held Heritage. Things are decent so far. Most shows are growing the company. Funakoshi is a monster and I love him. We are losing money and I bloated the roster. </p><p> </p><p> I typically take a "learning save" to get a handle on a promotion, so this might turn out to be that. I've done a touring promotion enough times, but not at this size. The reality of having to watch the spending isn't something I'm overly used to as a I typically go for bigger companies. </p><p> </p><p> -I am using Maeda as much UC. My typical approach. The upside to it is that I could offer Razan, baby Taku, and Tanyu more money than Maeda as an owner would otherwise let me. So I beat away GCG to keep them. Razan and Taku are now loyal. Tanyu is not, so I will probably lose him down the road. Trying to build some positive relationships around him to maybe help that. </p><p> </p><p> -I always bloat my roster, so I... bloated my roster. We've lost 3 to GCG so far and I released a couple of the less talented oldheads. I compensated for the losses by signing about 15 young workers who became loyal. Thankfully most of those are on lower-wage contracts, so even if they don't get used, I'm paying as low as $200 downside to keep loyal young workers. I also signed a couple of the non-loyal GCG youngsters to touring deals so they would leave GCG - when the touring deals are up, I will try to sign them and make them loyal. I also have a couple of touring deals for workers who are contracted to but not loyal to other companies - the touring deal didn't force them leave since we aren't at war. </p><p> </p><p> -wanted to run Big Battle TagMania as a proper tag team grand prix but doesn't seem like the best idea so probably going to emulate Dark Raider and do it as an elimination tournament. The Maeda Grand Prix is going to be a GP but with the March break and the event in week 2 of April, I am going to have to emulate DR again and start the matches after Tag Mania, but I may also have to move the event back a bit. </p><p> </p><p> -lost $65K so far in the first two weeks. Some of that is going to be the signing bonuses - I gave out as little as I could but it does add up when its a handful of wrestlers. I've also been running 1 hour tour shows with only a handful of matches so I am trying to have some restraint. </p><p> </p><p> Its weird. I partly miss the financial laissez-faire-ness of running Burning Hammer, plus the fun of coming up with new masked Super Juniors. But trying to build up this company through the small group of loyal young stars is also appealing. My main question at this point is whether the signings I've made are going to unhinge the finances to the point that I need to start over (making this one the afore-mentioned test save) or whether I can make it work.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> #1) Funakoshi is an absolute monster! Having Torii, Ikoma, and Okamoto to match him up with makes him up there with the best guys in the game IMO.</p><p> </p><p> #2) Roster bloat is no big deal as I do the same thing and I feel like a lot players in general do. All I'd say is just make sure those guys all get used during the tour shows so you don't end up paying for talent that didn't get used. Also the roster bloat will eventually fix itself as BHOTWG usually goes on a signing spree after the "incident" effects Japan. </p><p> </p><p> #3) The young boys from GCG are Kikuchi and Shimizu if I'm not mistaken are so, so, so good in a couple of years. Even without the SQ those guys are money especially Danjuro Kikuchi.</p><p> </p><p> #4) Don't worry about funds too much. My last game was probably my 6th or 7th run at a BCG game and I actually just matched production values with the groups I'm running against and to eliminate the penalty's and reap the gains of having the best shows of anyone around my size. First year I lost around 600K and the second year I also lost around 200K but in the third year I was able to get coverage for my events and around the end of the year I was able to get a PPV carrier and actually gained around 600K. Year 4 by the end of Feb I decided to buy out GCG to gain their best talent and I put myself about 1.2 million in the hole. But I'm already out of the hole after April by just having all of my GP shows covered on TV and my Finals on PPV. So for the first year I'd say who cares about budget. It's year two where you need to see the losses significantly down.</p>
  14. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Bigpapa42" data-cite="Bigpapa42" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41393" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Another question.... Rokuemon Matsushita. Have people managed to develop him into a true star? He intrigues me significantly, but he needs more work than most of the top prospects in the company.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'm in my third year with BCG right now and I'm finally going to pull the trigger on him and have him win the Grand Prix this year and then belt him up over Okamoto. His stamina and selling were his biggest issues and he's up to a C in stamina and his selling is up to a D+. Those aren't great but he can have a 20 minute match now with out fatiguing and I stopped getting selling penalties nearly a year ago now. He's mostly been in a tag team with me and is having consistent performances in the mid 80's to low 90's. He is also my 3rd most over guy without me even attempting to push him as such he just seems to get over. BIG fan of this guy as it doesn't even seem like I got a great roll with him as his charisma and SQ haven't move a point since the start of the game(not like it needed to, obviously).</p>
  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Matt_Black" data-cite="Matt_Black" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46096" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Favorites</strong><p> </p><p> 4) ACPW- I believe each company was created to give lessons in how to play the game. SWF teaches you how to manage a developmental company. Regional companies in Mexico and Japan teach you how to balance patience with the need to advance in size. I believe with ACPW the lesson is "Have you seen the in-game editor?" Here is a synopsis of my first impressions when trying ACPW....</p><p> </p><p> "Okay, so, the owner's really rich, but we only have $100k to start? Well, hopefully the product lends itself to sponsorship and... no, it doesn't. Well, maybe we're in a hot region? Oh, we're in the Maritimes. Well, if we switch to touring, then maybe that will give us a bit of... no, the owner blocked it. Well, hey, there's a Women's title in the title belt pics folder, and female wrestlers are often cheaper than they're male counterparts, so we can use them for smaller events, so I'll just start a women's division and... Buchinsky blocked that too. Pardon me a moment while I shout profanities into this paper bag."</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> LOL! This is exactly how I feel after about a year of playing these guys. It takes around two years to get yourself big enough to not lose money running shows and then I just lose interest. </p><p> </p><p> I get the feeling that this is the one company you are supposed to start as the Owner. It's the only way having a women's division and heavyweight division titles makes any sense at all in the default belt pics.</p>
