1. That's not fair! ... He also knows how to throw together meaningless battle royals for the men's division.
2. You know a match was good when the competition is putting it over live on air.
3. -One of the few times we've seen HOB not in control of a situation. -Mariah May is CVS-brand Tiffany Stratton. -When booking the main event of the go-home show before your PPV, maybe the guy who scores the pinfall should be a guy who actually has a MATCH at the PPV? Just a thought. -Julia Hart & Skye Blue vs. Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander on the pre-show. ... Haven't we seen that match already? -Deeb calling herself the "Final Boss".... Hmmm....
4. Now that I'm thinking about it, they need to bring back Maki Itoh. Let her hang out with the Acclaimed or something.
5. I don't think that was his call, as I don't think Lady Frost is All Elite. She's worked for them a few times, but I don't think she's under contract the way that Deeb is. Still, I do agree that, with all these working agreements AEW has, it's a bit puzzling they've never fully taken advantage of them. Like, instead of feeding the entire women's division to Jade Cargill for 2 years (only for her to go "SEE YA" and sign with WWE, great long-term booking decision there, Tony), they could have brought in talent from AAA or other promotions, do the video package thing, and let them take the loss, keeping the actual AEW women's talent strong and more credible.
6. Remember, Priest still has the briefcase, so he could always try to reenact the "Heist Of The Century".
7. Now, it was an offhand mention by Callis. Still, it sticks in my craw that for that one PPV, they were all, "See who are big signing is!" and then it's "It's the guy you've already seen on AEW TV multiple times! Also, you're not going to see him again for, like, 6 months!"
8. Next week, Will Ospreay finally shows up for work! Nearly 5 months after they made a big deal about it!
9. The ]Women's Revolution mod and it's various expansions from @willr0ck introduce a number of family members, mostly women. Most notably, there's a stable called the Flash 5, a group of men and women wrestlers, all the illegitimate children of Steve Flash. Basically, the Dudley Boyz, except not kayfabe; they originally got in touch with each other as a sort of support group and then decided to get into wrestling.
10. Indeed. They've beaten Matt Sydal and whatever they're calling Menard & Parker now, but who HASN'T beaten those guys? I will say, however, that they have been booked relatively strongly in defeat, with last week's Collision being the first full decisive finish. The other 2 against BCC were a surprise roll-up and a low blow. Speaking of "needs a win", Queen Aminata. There are only so many matches where you can say "she lost, but good effort" before she's full on jobber status. Even Red Velvet gets a win on TV from time to time.
11. Here's how I would book things for the tag titles. Sting and Darby beat the Young Bucks with Darby getting the pin on one while Sting has the Scorpion Deathlock on the other to prevent him from breaking up the pin. Sting gets to retire as an undefeated tag team champion. The next Dynamite, The Bucks demand that Darby forfeit the titles and hand them over because he doesn't have a partner anymore. Darby must find a partner before the end of the show. But who...?
12. ... I'm betting that Sami "I'm doing it for the fans" promo was taped before he went on Twitter yesterday.
13. Starks and Big Bill vs. Dark Order didn't make a hell of a lot of sense. The champs are headed into Phoenix to ostensibly be the heels, and yet this match had them as babyfaces.
14. He went 45 minutes with MJF (on TV no less!), and while that was an excellent match, it's not exactly what I personally would recommend to a wrestler coming back after a long hiatus.
15. Yes, as I imagine many of the people there in Miami are smart marks who've attended NXT live tapings. For those of us at home who don't watch NXT, yeah, no idea, and even when the announcers called it out, it didn't feel like the big deal they were making it out to be.
16. Triple H really needs to learn that just because someone was a big deal in NXT does not mean they're a big deal. Twice, they had NXT people come out like it was this huge moment, and I'm sure a lot of people watching Smackdown were like, "Did a fan jump the barricade?"
17. J.K. Simmons is an Academy Award winning actor, and beloved by millions for his role as J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man franchise. He also does commercials for candy and insurance, because he is a professional, and professionals work the darn jobs regardless of how "big" they are.
18. If WWE thinks I'm going to pay $6.99 (or more) per month to watch RAW, they can go... WELL. The good news is I have 3 hours on Monday nights freed up now!
19. Seth Rollins cuts promos with all the intensity of a guy named Chad complaining about his order at Starbucks. As far as last night... CM Punk: "I can separate business from personal...." Me: *spit take*
20. It's been a while since I've loaded up the game, but if memory serves, CWA starts somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5-3 million. That is more than enough to start a network with coverage in the U.S. as a complement to the main show's broadcaster. However, I like making a second show, as more shows improve your workers and get you closer to that extra skill point.
21. Never say never. Who would have guessed five years ago that Billy Gunn would be wildly popular now?
22. Did anyone else notice that Julia Hart got on the wrong side initially for the group suplex spot?
23. Similarly, I really hope they don't do something stupid like have Willow turn on Stat.
