  1. This is such a great idea Celt fantastic work. I had an idea for something similar with rw pics a few years ago but not being very knowledgeable about hosting stuff etc couldn’t find a good system or site. Any chance you’d ever look at doing one for rw pics too? Great work again. These projects become valuable assets for the community. Edit - Sorry didn't read the whole thread you answered my question!

  6. <p>Thanks everyone for the kind words <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> To give an update on where I'm at.... Work on TGA and MA has been underway since BETA started. I've been focussing mostly on SoP though. It's clearly what most people want that next so I'm shifting all of my attention to it now with full release. The mod has taken on a life of it's own in some ways growing larger than I anticipated but not too big I think it's bloated. Tests on 2016 were running near perfectly but with the switch to 20 obviously loads of things need re-tweaking. For specifics, the mod now stands at around 100 Companies (60 Active) and 3,900 Workers. Huge amounts of work have gone into details like Mask/Hair History, Dojos & Graduates and much more. As a rough estimate I'd say it's around 90% complete for 2016 and 60% complete for 2020. I wish I could offer a timeframe for release but I haven't spent enough time in the editor and simming/playing to gauge how consistently fast progress will be yet.</p><p> </p><p> After much consideration and deliberation I've opened a PayPalMe link (Added the link in Discord) for anyone that's asked to "Shout me a beer" or "Buy me a coffee". I can't stress enough that this isn't an expectation on my end for anyone to do so or more importantly that this isn't an indication that I will ever charge for anything, ever. My stance has not and will not ever change on that matter.</p>
  7. Opinions are definitely valid but here's a fact that isn't debatable. Good UI's are liked by the vast majority of the playerbase for any given game. That's literally how they're judged because that's their purpose. Good UI's aren't disliked by half of the playerbase, that would be considered an average to poor UI by most gaming standards. I'm beyond disappointed the Editor wasn't improved. Attributes still being in dropboxes is the biggest letdown.
  8. Yep, hundreds of workers yet to debut and loads of company's. Don't think AEW is in as they launched after I released the mod.
  9. The D&D comment was because it was an awful comparison, not an insult Your second point isn't true though, I can tell you firsthand the more a RW mod clones CV the more wonky things will happen. I've been praised for balance in my mods, I disregarded CV balance and comparisons many years ago. I had to do so because I saw the CV gradually evolve into something that didn't mirror RW at all.
  10. Of all the things to use as a comparison D&D? Let's use a far better comparison like football. If FM used a fictional database.... Average scores of matches for an EPL season are 8-6 and when complaints are made players are told working as intended because it's a fictional db. If RW modders were to model balance on CV most smaller companies would grow far more rapidly than they do in reality. Far more stars would be made than in reality due to hundreds of workers having OP stats. That's only stats, I've not touched the issue of CV creeping into every corner of the game. Just last week a dev when discussing broadcasters said something like "It's not 100% realistic they're made for CV". So CV is now changing the definition and way simple things like broadcasters work. I also suggest anyone interested in this topic to do some research on it because there's a lot of history. See how the CV evolved, how it was used in one TEW in particular to plug over some very obvious holes in the game. Whether you enjoy it or not shouldn't be questioned. Has it been overall good or bad for the game should be questioned.
  11. Or maybe make it an option like every other text based sim I play does. It doesn't have to be one side vs the other every time even a small feature is suggested. Options are always a good thing.
  12. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="outb0undflight" data-cite="outb0undflight" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47560" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Totally understand if you decide to wrap it up but lemme just say you would absolutely be missed. TGA, WCW Lives, and even Superfly Effect have been my go-to's for ages now.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thank you, and thank you to everyone who's sent me similar words of support both here and on discord. I've received more love and support over the past few weeks than I ever have. I probably would have called it quits by now had it not been for this love and support. I had no idea so many played and enjoyed my work. Some of the stories of people playing my mods for 15+ years now or as some put it "Since I was a kid" has also made me feel super old <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Modding can be very much a thankless task with the vast majority of time spent staring at numbers in the editor. Hearing stories of people enjoying playthroughs is the most rewarding aspect for myself and is a great motivator to continue modding. If you have any other modders work you enjoy I recommend letting them know, especially right now modders could use all the support you can offer. I hope other modders are shown the love I've received as I'm sure it will help motivate them also.</p><p> </p><p> Edit - Sincerely, to everyone who's reached out thank you <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

People would not decline fast too.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This should be fairly easy to add yourself I think using the mass editor.</p>
  15. Yeah I've been told about some of the week one of demo behaviour and I honestly forgot. I wasn't around much for it and was more focussed on modding aspects. I was most definitely looking at more from a clarity pov not "lets put these people in the spotlight for more abuse".
  16. I appreciate you understanding my perspective as you clearly have Also just to clarify, the knucklehead for me aren't the devs! Even if we completely disagree if they explain their reasoning I respect that and appreciate the clarity. It was more the random poster speaking like they're on the dev team and answering questions etc as if they are. That's the situation where I'd like to know if the person is a dev member or not. I in no way meant this as some kind of attack on the devs, maybe that's why I couldn't understand the earlier take. Maybe I'm too much of an optimist, I legitimately only think it can bring positives but I do take your point. Emotions have been high here recently and it's maybe not the best time to ask for it now. Might bank this away and suggest it 6-12 months from now.
  17. I don't want testers to carry a tag, no other game does that. Just developers as I said who are involved with the process. Otherwise it would make no sense and serve no purpose. It would be a silly request. The dev team have been "enlightening" us with lots of information, it's just not been clear that it's them as they don't carry tags. Some have even said in recent posts "As someone on the dev team..." and then proceeded to explain certain features often along with reasons for their addition or in some cases removal. Again, it's not some big mystery that will be like an unhooding angle if dev tags were added
  18. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Powerful_Fox" data-cite="Powerful_Fox" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49044" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>This is a very fair post imo. Also, we arent the alpha testers, we are the beta testers, the alpha testers were the chaps behind closed doors were they not?<p> An NDA for these testers to sign before a commercial release of a product isnt at all farfetched either so calling it a bad comparison may not be the case.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> I'm not sure why NDA's have anything to do with it. Every other company I know have NDA's in place while also having dev tags for forums etc. I shouldn't have grouped alpha and beta together that was my mistake. I'm interested in knowing when reading replies and posts that it's someone on the development team speaking. Whether that post is from an informed person with insight only they could possess. Every other gaming forum uses this system and they all have NDA's etc. Again though the FM development process is extremely different which is why I said it's a bad comparison.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Powerful_Fox" data-cite="Powerful_Fox" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49044" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>At this point I dont see what benefit it gives for the dev team to come out and reveal themselves, it would likely cause nothing more than them getting a headache from people as most messages they receive will be "How did you miss x and y", it serves no real benefit at this point.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The benefit would be clarity and transparency, I don't see how anyone could consider either of those things a negative. Especially at a time like this. In regards to people revealing themselves, most of the dev team we already know it's not like a hooded wrestling reveal angle <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I' don't think risking giving a dev member a headache because of too many questions is a valid reason against the idea. If you don't think it's healthy (and a benefit) for the game to ask those involved with the process critical questions about its development I'm not sure we'll agree on much more in regards to this matter.</p>
  19. Pretty bad. Two great, long time modders I know have already quit the past week. Expecting more to follow suit. Edit, make that three great, long time modders who've quit this past week. You know who you are sorry I forgot you
  20. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Donners" data-cite="Donners" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49044" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div> Elsewhere that generally applies to paid members of the team, in my experience. Unpaid testers are usually anonymous - indeed, NDAs typically require anonymity. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> FM dev is very different to TEW dev as is the structure. Bad comparison. FM provides transparency in many other ways that TEW does not but I won't go further with this analogy as the comparison isn't a good one.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Donners" data-cite="Donners" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49044" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I alpha and beta tested Football Manager for a decade, but was not allowed to state that on the forums even after testing finished each year.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The alpha and beta testers for TEW are us, that's what we've been doing the past few weeks. I know for a fact many on the dev team influence development with ideas etc. Those are the ones I think need a tag on their avatars making that clear, as every other game I play does.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Donners" data-cite="Donners" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49044" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As far as I know, there are only two paid members of the dev team here - Adam and the artist. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Paid or not. If you've been involved with development and have a personal investment in the game and thus are sometimes opposed criticism as a result it should be transparent. It's misleading and they're misrepresenting themselves as just normal paying customers when they're not.</p>
  21. Over the past few weeks I've noticed several people on the TEW development team posting and debating certain things on the board. I think giving them a dev tag will help with the transparency and provide more clarity when some debates occur. Every other game I play has this system for their forums. People who are personally invested in the game and have helped create it are arguing on the forums with some members who have no idea who they're debating and this is wrong for a few reasons. I've also noticed certain devs trying to combat critical posts with "Oh but this new feature is great". Not only is "What aboutism" an awful form of discussion but coupled with the lack of transparency it all comes off looking very bad for GDS and TEW. Given all that's unfolded over the past month I don't think asking for a little more transparency is unreasonable. I in no way intend for this to be an argumentative thread but I know some will try to steer it there in an attempt to derail the main point. I won't be replying to any one baiting
  22. 10 minutes ago you said... I'm not arguing for or against the feature now but this juxtaposition is really hard to understand Also, your post once again assumes that all players use customisation to make things easier. That's really misleading and does a discredit to the argument you're trying to make.
  23. We have narratives, preset mandatory owners, preset dojos linked to companies to ensure new workers debut in said company and many more features already in game already and are core staples of historical mods as I said. The logic would be the same as the existing features logic. Many people look at historical mods differently and enjoy different things from them. More options means more play styles and thus more players will enjoy it.
  24. Cado was specifically talking about dev companies. I liken it to a Civilization playthrough, let's use America as the civ. If, how, where, when and why Americans learn new techs or wage wars should be different each play through just like if, how, where and when Austin receives a mega push should be. Having NXT debut and then become another companies feeder territory or be created by Eric Bischoff and be their own thing is a step too far for me personally. It would be like having a Civ game where Egypt creates the new city of Los Angeles. I'm sure both of those scenarios sound fun to many people and I'm not arguing for their removal or saying that playstyle should be discouraged. I'm saying the option to have it both ways should be included and both playstyles should be encouraged. So often over the past few weeks when people have expressed their desire for a change or addition I've seen so many replies acting as if they're asking for the removal of something or attempting to force one type of playstyle upon everyone, instead of what they're really asking for which is the option to do something. I'm pretty sure Adam understands this and tries to represent it as best he can, things like Mandatory owners etc have been staples of historical mods for years now. Maybe this was missed? Options are always a good thing in a text based sim.
