praguepride Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 While MMA is not the soap opera that wrestling can be, there are still the possability of angles. Namely most of the hype angles could be used to showcase/ recap fights and wrestlers. My ideas about "booking" - Leave it similar to TEW, just with a reduced impact and quantity of angles - Include generic "hype this wrestler" or "hype this match" as a replacement to angles - You could have an overall marketing/promotions that you set to hype certain wrestlers, maybe even hype multiple wrestlers, possibly dependent on size (1 wrestler for local/small, 2 for regional/cult, 3 for national/international, 4 for global)
RepoMantaur Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 hype segments for fighters would make sense pride used to produce segments that tried to hype up fights to the point of making them like a wrestling feud, but they stopped that years ago
Capelli King Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Frankly speaking i cant wait to get rid of all the angles so i do not support this idea. However not doing angles will not have any penalties then so be it. Then again if there will be no penalties, why have them. I think what there should be is you hire announcers and colour commentators which by default do their job.
JMimic Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I think you should be able to choose what fights go on your commercial advertisements (if you put crappy fighters on there it might not sell as well etc) then maybe you could have an Inside The UFC type show where you can hype fighters as well as fights.

I understand that it adds realism to the game, but this game is about booking MMA events. How are you going to have a TV show where all you do is hype? Now if you didn't have to put that much work into the TV show (say it were a half-hour or maybe even a full one), and you just had to plug in a few fighters and a couple of fights and it produced it all for you, based on the importance of the fight, it might work. I dunno, this game is going to be interesting, and I assume difficult for Adam and his team to do. I'm looking forward to seeing how the final product ends up.

Definately not as simple as a wrestling game to pull off. But I think it's neccessary to put in hype segments during your shows. Hype videos and interviews are a MUST. But that's where it stops.

falling_star Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Personally, and I might be on the outs in thinking this, but I think your actual shows should have a much more solid format for booking. Something like: BOUT #1: VIDEO RECAP: Here you could select a focus (i.e. training regime, personal history, MMA history, etc.) for the video recap between 2 fighters, if neccesary. PRE-FIGHT: Here you could select the announcer (whose skills could help hype up the crowd), a ring card girl (if included, could possibly help keep the crowd hot between rounds), and the extravagance of each fighters entrance (low, medium, high, superstar, etc.). FIGHT: Select the fighters for this bout. And so on for each fight, with maybe a sidebar option to include things like fight announcements, new signings, etc. to be mentioned during the show. I think booking like this could allow for a lot more surprises for the player since they would not have full control over what actually happens on the show, allowing for a more entertaining experience when running shows. Perhaps there is a seperate angle that pops up for the worked in news/angle items. Maybe the company owner or top announcer comes out, announcing a big fight for the next show that gets the crowd fired up before the next match (which could literally save a mediocre bout from completely ruining a show, or make a great match into a classic). Maybe one of your announcers casually mentions a new company signing between rounds, which could have a number of effects (if it is a fairly big name, the crowd might lose focus a bit and the next round could suffer. . . maybe a prima donna worker would be upset at not getting a bigger hype. . . and so on). Just a few ideas. . .
toddthebod Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I think that it should already be assumed that these things will happen because it does happen during at least UFC and IFL broadcasts. Things like marketing and such should take the place of angles. However, one thing that should be taken from TEW should be the Advanced Fights thing. This way, you could build interest in fights months ahead. Just like the UFC does and will continue doing. Examples of this would be the Liddell/Rampage and recently announced Franklin/Kampmann on June 16th in Ireland.
javier_83 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 i dont know, maybe press conference interviews (newspaper, television, Internet) the weigh day post fights interviews
