Ramaeno Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Just a question. In the games current state with no manipulations just good booking and business management with NYCW versus DAVE to polish of the king of the tri-state area, would NYCW even have a shot? I have a wonderful game going right now with TCW, best game I had since a long addictive run with TCW in TEW 2004 but I wanna be careful not to make some mistake that would screw up the game so a preventitive measure would be to start up a little something on the side and I've been toying with some ideas and NYCW is particularly interesting to me although I read someplace (and Im not 100% sure about this) that somebody said they booked MAW for a long time and was very successful but that MAW is not aloud to grow past a certain point and I was wondering if this is true and if so is there a similar plateau for NYCW? thanks guys
Dross Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 There is no such thing as an overness cap. NYCW can become Global if booked right.
Dragonmack Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 There is no in game limitiation on any fed growing to global. AI wise it is just that the computer seems to stay with the same roster its starts with as long as possible and may not make the best signings to make it grow. NYCW's only major obstacle, especially against DAVE, is that it's prestige at the same size is usually lower than any other promotion, so it will always be the secondary promotion in any head to head events. MAW should actually be fairly easy to get over as they have a talented roster that can put on shows in the high C's and low B's (with chemistry in the main event) at the start. I know this is true because it is happening in a current game of mine. I went from Local to regional in 2 yrs of monthly events in a current game of MAW.
Ramaeno Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 Well what do you guys feel is the way to go with NYCW? They have some high priced talent, Black Hat Bailey, Lee Wright and others. In TEW 05 they started with not alot of money (15 G's if I remember but I also might be wrong) but now they have 100 so there is some flexibility....what route should be taken?

Hire some talented but inexpensive workers and use the high priced existing workers to groom them. And I'd change the product to 'integrated' women's wrestling. Now, before you say I'm biased, realize there's a reason for that. How much does Sensational Ogiwara make on her monthly contract? Now, how much does Sean McFly or Jeremy Stone or Yoshimi or Shuji or Hyobanshi make? Dollar for dollar, a women's wrestler is going to be the best bang for your buck because most of them have near zero overness (which is usually what costs more) but at least decent in-ring skill. As you probably know, overness is FAR easier to build up than in-ring skill. Thus, a worker who is skilled but not over offers the best value for a smaller promotion looking to keep costs low (at least if that promotion values in-ring skill). I'm a sucker for young talent so I'd snatch up the likes of Bulldozer Brandon Smith as soon as they debut.
Dragonmack Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 My take, based on 3 or 4 games on NYCW, is that all the high priced talent will be gone as soon as their contracts end anyway. i.e Bailey, Phunk and Whistler won't re-sign as you are not big enough for their overness when their contracts run out. Stomper won't let you re-sign Wright and Flash to the contracts they have when they expire as they are too high. SO find someone like Mean Jean Catteley or Des Davids and build them up as your champ by jobbing out the big names until they are gone. Use Flash in a mid card feud to get good match rating's i.e C's so your cards can be in the D+ ,C- range. If you do monthly shows you should be in regional by mid 2009. Depending on the owner financial goals. You could also just scrap all the high priced deadweight. Sign a buch of cheap guys with potential like Hernandez, Davids, Plague, etc and run cheap weekly shows to build your popularity quicker.
PoisonedSuperman Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Not with you as their booker but if I was their booker then probably.

Unless they're Development feds (in which case you couldn't play as them anyway).

Ive seen some realy random people rise to A*, and some people drop from A's to E's (in the space of about 5 years)

It's possible that those same workers you mention could be capped at C if you started a new game.
