The win means that one more match will be had to determine the true best of these two women, but in the eyes of the fans they are both greats. The match was intense and grueling, the women didn’t stop moving for any reason. Heir bodies were bruised, battered and beaten but the fire in their hearts gave them a wellspring of strength. Hatoyama missed a Missile Dropkick landing squarely on her back and that gave Karube the time to scramble up to the top rope herself and land a DEVIL Drop on her opponent for the win.
International Flight over Seek & Destroy – D+ Gorgon draws Joanne Rodriguez – C+ The Bomb Squad over The Rainbow Girls – C Sensational Ogiwara draws Crusher Ichihara – B DEVIL Karube over Kit Hatoyama – A* Overall Rating: B+ The 644 fans in the Hofu Arena got to see the only match of the year rated match this tour, which was also DEVIL Karube’s second this year. This is Joanne’s last shot at the title if she doesn’t win here Gorgon will get to hold the title for another two months before Rodriguez can even work her way up to another shot. Main Event DEVIL Karube versus Kit Hatoyama Best of Seven II Match 7 Karube and Hatoyama have been carrying the Maximum Overdrive tour on their backs in two best of seven series. This is the last and final chance of redemption for DEVIL Karube. A win by the DEVIL will prove she is at least as good as Hatoyama. A loss will show why Hatoyama is truly called a veteran of the game. I never gotten mine so damn early :) I personally support the main event title matches, but in this case you might be better of putting the Bo7 match last to increase your ratings. But an option would be to place it before the Butler/Hike match. You'll still get a B+ out of it normally, and the main event might rate B+ as well (though that depends, could be lower). Irl I would rather like the tag match between the first two matches, but then again, for rating purposes it's better this way. :)

But with the 5SSW world title match it's like having a double main event. I was thinking I should have spaced the tag matches a little better and put the Intercontinental Flight versus All Business match third leaving the Megumi vs Shiori to split them up. I don't think it would have done to much for the ratings as most of the show would have been based on the four final match ups. But thanks for the feed back I'll keep that in mind for next tour. Show results will be up tonight so anyone who still wants to make predictions you have soem time.

B is still very good for a future 'PPV' on the first year of 5SSW. Maybe it was a bit of a gamble for letting Hatoyama and Karube main event after the title match, but imagine if it turned out better... :) Indeed a surprise win from Hatoyama, as I opted DEVIL in order to bring her in the main event title scene. But there are other option of course. Perhaps a heel turn by Ogiwara. :D

The Maximum Overdrive Tour only saw one match of the year candidate but ti wasn’t a group of hastily thrown together shows without a story to tell. The double best of seven series story put forth three highly rated matches as well as a match of the year candidate. The 5SSW Tag Team and World titles were defended successfully, but the 5SSW All-Asian title changed hands. If all our tours can live up to this standard 5SSW is sure to grow wuickly in the eyes of the fans. My notes this tour will focus on not only growth for the tour but also a comparison between this tour and our previous one. There were a few surprise break outs and some that were not so surprising. Chitose Ariwara Wins 0 / Losses 12 Average D+ Highest C Although she didn’t have any wins this year she did manage to raise the bar on her average match. Chitose still has a long way to go but she could one day be something big in 5SSW. Connie Morris Wins 6 / Losses 14 Average C- Highest B+ Connie Morris made a lot of growth this tour and her tag team with Yuma Maruya is something that could sling shot her into the upper midcard. Her best match was better than last tour but on average her work has stayed about the same. Crusher Ichihara Wins 10 / Losses 3 / Draws 1 Average B- Highest B+ Win after win but Crusher Ichihara’s work rate has fallen behind quite a bit this tour. She came close to a win for the 5SSW World title but she still just couldn’t pull it off. DEVIL Karube Wins 13 / Losses 9 Average B+ Highest A* DEVIL stepped up her work and managed to pull off the only match of the year candidate face off with Kit Hatoyama. She may have lost both of her best of sevens but she stood toe to toe with Hatoyama the entire way. Gorgon Wins 17 / Losses 2 / Draws 1 Average C Highest B- Gorgon made quite a showing and her one tour title reign. She brought the prestige of the title up (70%) with 18 defenses before losing the title to Joanne Rodriguez at 5SSW Speed Freaks. Huntress Makiko Wins 3 / Losses 18 Average C- Highest B- The Huntress took her best match of last tour and made that her average work rate and even with more losses than wins she seems to be on the cusp of becoming a beak out star. Ikuko Temko Wins 2 / Losses 16 Average D+ Highest C Ikko’s average match didn’t seem to get much better but her best match this tour was better than her best match last tour. Facing aerial attacks from her opponents seems to have inspired Ikuko to try some of her own. Growth in general ring awareness could mean big thing for the “Mistress of Pain” in the future. Joanne Rodriguez Wins 16 / Losses 7 / Draws 1 Average C Highest B+ Some people may say I gave J-Ro the title because I’m dating her and that may very well be true but she has proven that she does deserve a title from her ring work alone. Growth in the Japanese Puro style from her matches with Gorgon may well allow her to stand against other large opponents. June Butler Wins 5 / Losses 9 Average C+ Highest B June Butler still seems to be the red headed step child of the main event scene. She’s shown some growth in ring awareness but she’s still far outstripped by the likes of Ichihara, Ogiwara and Hike. More losses than wins this year but her work rate has improved and she’s even put on some good matches with some of the top workers. Kiko Sakakibara Wins 9 / Losses 6 Average C Highest B- Other than gaining the respect of her colleagues this tour there seems to have been little growth for Sakakibara. Her work has stayed consistent with last tour although her win loss record is better. Her tag team The Rainbow Girls hasn’t been doing as well as they could even with being the top contenders to the titles. Kit Hatoyama Wins 15 / Losses 6 Average B+ Highest A* Kit’s standard match rating is better than the best most of the other women did this tour. Pulling out the match of the tour as well as being named worker of the tour kit is on the precipice of greatness. She could very well be going for “The” title next. Megumi Nakajima Wins 3 / Losses 15 Average C+ Highest B Some have said her best was only as good as her best last tour, but her work rate has improved. Megumi gained has gotten in with a lot of the veterans by her willingness to be the upper cards losing opponent. Her win loss record may have suffered because of this fact but she’s been in the ring more times with the main event than anyone else in the lower card. Otsune Tsumura Wins 7 / Losses 8 / Draws 1 Average C- Highest C+ Tsumura’s work rate actually dropped this tour. The fans seemed to be hoping her partner and any opponents they faced would rub off on her. Sadly Otsune showed very little growth this tour and it can be said that she may be dragging fellow Rainbow Girl, Kiko Sakakibara down with her. Raku Makuda Wins 5 / Losses 6 Average C Highest C+ Raku showed more consistency this tour and although she was a contender for the 5SSW Tag Team titles the fans seemed to think she showed very little in ring improvement. A trained eye could see that she did improve some in her technical work trying more than a few submissions moves out on her opponents. Saeko Hiroyuki Wins 11 / Losses 0 Average C Highest B- Contending for the tag titles all tour Saeko didn’t get to really show her stuff against top competitors as she did last tour. Her best match this easily a far cry from her match of the tour contender with Sensational Ogiwara last tour. Still she is one half of the 5SSW Tag Team champions and that’s nothing to scoff about. Saori Nakadan Wins 11 / Losses 2 Average C Highest B Except for her improved win loss record there has been very little improvement from Saori Nakadan. As the other half of the 5SSW Tag Team champions she’s faced off against some top opponents but none of their expertise has seemed to rub off on her. Sensational Ogiwara Wins 14 / Losses 0 / Draws 1 Average B Highest B+ The champion at least for one more tour, Sensational Ogiwara seems to have top out in popularity with the fans. She is still one of the top workers in 5SSW, or even with world, but she may soon be eclipsed by younger talent. Shiori Jippensha Wins 12 / Losses 6 Average C- Highest B+ The young lion of the tour Shiori Jippensha showed growth in every aspect of ring work including; stand up fighting, Top Rope attacks and flash, submission work, ring basics and overall stamina. A devastating win loss record as well as some of the best work rate from the lower card. Shiori, with just a little more time, has future champion written all over her. Thunder Hike Wins 9 / Losses 5 Average B Highest B+ Her win loss record may have suffered a little this tour and her best match didn’t live up to her best of last year but Hike is still one of 5SSW star performers. After a number of matches with June Butler she has continued to grow in her stand up work. We expect more big things from Thunder Hike in the near future. Tomoko Nagatsuka Wins 5 / Losses 6 Average C- Highest C+ Tomoko had a better win loss record this time around but her work rate stayed about the same. Her growth seemed to come in all around stand up fighting skills. She was a contender with her partner for the 5SSW Tag Team titles but the other teams haven’t seemed to rub off on her enough. Tsuki Kawamata Wins 1 / Losses 18 Average D+ Highest C+ One win for Tsuki Kawamata all tour, she has become almost as big a whipping post as Chitose Ariwara. Her work rate seemed to drop but the one thing we have to say for her is she’s picked up a little bit of everything from everyone she’s lost to. Yuma Maruya Wins 5 / Losses 15 Average C Highest B Yuma along with her partner Connie Morris have gained a lot of attention among the fans. She was also dubbed the most improved worker of the tour. Gains in ring awareness and basics as well as technical mat work and stand up brawling have made Yuma a hot prospect to watch out for. Wrestler of the Tour Kit Hatoyama Kit Hatoyama was in all three of the best matches this tour including the Best Match of the Tour, which is also a match of the year candidate. Although DEVIL Karube was also in all three of these matches, Haotyama won both best of seven series and is there for the Wrestler of the Tour Young Lion of the Tour Shiori Jippensha Shiori Jippensha one of a number of workers in line neck and neck for most improved worker is the Young Lion of the Tour. She may have been beaten by Megumi Nakajima at 5SSW Speed Freaks but the win loss record speaks volumes as does the best match for both workers. Most Improved Worker Yuma Maruya A lot fo the young workers showed increase in specific in ring skills; rumble, aerial and technical skills. Yuma Maruya, however, seemed to grow in all three areas as well as general ring awareness and the respect of her peers. Next week we start our new tour. We’ve added quite a few talented workers to our roster, bulking up our number of athletes. We’ve managed to keep almost all of the names from being leaked but now is the time to let the cat out of the bag. The website will get its update and I’m expecting a lot of positive response. Already we've seen a good review of 5SSW done by the indomitable Beeker which can be found Here 5SSW Presents… The Jade Empress tour will crown an actual Jade Empress at the end of a 32 woman tournament. Women from all over the world have been entered and all but four have made it into the tournament. The first four shows will be the round one tournament. Each round one show will have four matches before moving on to round two. Live from Doshisha Athletic Center Kinki Region Tuesday Week 1 August 2007 Jade Empress Tour Show 1 Round One Nikki Power versus Principessa The battle of the Canadian stars Principessa takes on the in ring bully Nikki Power. Both women work for CWWF where Principessa has failed twice to get their global title and Nikki Power has been on a three win streak. After this match there will be one less woman from north of the border in the Jade Empress Tournament. Round One Dragon Power versus Connie Morris Two parts of two different tag teams meet in a round one match. Dragon Power has been on a winning streak on the Japanese independent shows while Connie Morris has been losing in 5SSW. Only one of the two will move on maybe even proving which team is better. Round One DEVIL Karube versus Mitsu Ariwa Blue Collar working girl “Jade Dragon” Mitsu Ariwa has the unfortunate job of taking on last tours match of the tour winner DEVIL Karube. Ariwa is a decent technical worker but Karube’s all around skill might be to much for her. Round One Umeko Hotta versus Thunder Hike One win on the Independent circuit has gotten lone wolf Ukemo Hotta to the Jade Empress Tournament. However, Hotta has drawn Thunder Hike as her opponent in round one and that can’t be good. Full Card Nikki Power versus Principessa Dragon Power versus Connie Morris DEVIL Karube versus Mitsu Ariwa Umeko Hotta versus Thunder Hike Live from Hofu Arena Chugoku Region Wednesday Week 1 August 2007 Jade Empress Tour Show 2 Round One Tomoko Nagatsuka versus Otsune Tsumura Having fought in many tag team and some singles battles, Tomoko Nagatsuka and Otsune Tsumura have drawn yet another match. We already know we can expect at least good things from these two. Round One Sakura Sada versus Kiko Sakakibara Although she just left 5SSW late in 2006 Sakura Sada has made it back for the Jade Empress Tournament. “The Hawk” takes on the other half of The Bubblegum Girls, Kiko Sakakibara. Round One Saori Nakadan versus Kit Hatoyama Worker of the tour for the Maximum Overdrive tour, Kit Hatoyama, meets up against one half of the 5SSW Tag Team titles Saori Nakadan. We’ll get to see which move is best, the Nakadan Spike or the Hatoyama Driver. Round One Dragon Assassin versus Yuma Maruya In the first match of the tournament one half of the Serpents faced off against one half of Intercontinental Flight. In this eighth match the other halves do battle. Dragon Assassin and Yuma Maruya will put on quite a good show definitely worthy of a Main Event. Full Card Tomoko Nagatsuka versus Otsune Tsumura Sakura Safa versus Kiko Sakakibara Saori Nakadan versus Kit Hatoyama Dragon Assassin versus Yuma Maruya Live from Doshisha Athletic Center Kinki Region Thursday Week 1 August 2007 Jade Empress Tour Show 3 Round One Gorgon versus Kuniko Matsura Leaving just before the changing of the guard at 5SSW “Wild Fire” Kuniko Matsura who’s dream has always been to take it to the men comes back for the Jade Empress Tournament. Matsura faces off against Gorgon. Rumor has it that Gorgon has not only been fighting in the ring in North America, but she’s also been hitting underground fighting rings and doing quite well. Round One Saeko Hiroyuki versus Chitose Ariwara Chitose Ariwara has consistently been on the losing end of matches. She has also consistently given it her all in every match. She has yet to face Saeko Hiroyuki in battle but as one half of the 5SSW Tag Team titles she isn’t going to be a push over. Round One Raku Makuda versus Joanne Rodriguez 5SSW All-Asian title holder Joanne Rodriguez faces off against former 5SSW Tag Team title holder Raku Maruda. J-RO and Raku have meet in tag team competition so far this past year, so this will be their first singles match and the fans can’t wait. Round One Shiori Jippensha versus Sensational Ogiwara After being crowned last tours Young Lion of the tour Shiori Jippensha has drawn 5SSW World Champion, Sensational Ogiwara. Ogiwara will look to add winning the first Jade Empress Tournament to her list of accomplishments, and Jippensha will look for winning this match to cement her rise in the company. Full Card Gorgon versus Kuniko Matsura Saeko Hiroyuki versus Chitose Ariwara Raku Makuda versus Joanne Rodriguez Shiori Jippensha versus Sensational Ogiwara Live from Hofu Arena Chugoku Region Tuesday Week 2 August 2007 Jade Empress Tour Show 4 Karen Bilous versus Kinuye Mushashibo An introduction match to two of 5SSW’s new stars sees “the Pain from the Ukraine” Karen Bilous taking on “Baby Blue” Kinuye Mushashibo. This match will show the standing behind those who made it into the Jade Empress Tournament. Round One Huntress Makiko versus Megumi Nakajima Megumi Nakajima and Huntress Makiko who have gone at it many times before, face off against each other once again to see who will move on to round two of the Jade Empress Tournament. Round One June Butler versus Yori Toyoshima June Butler who has been the bully of 5SSW takes on the incoming underdog “Fire Fly” Yori Toyoshima. Hard work and training have rocketed young Toyoshima up on the list of future stars to look out for, but Butler is no push. Round One Ikuko Temko versus Alicia Strong Blue Chipper Alicia Strong, daughter of the world famous Sam Strong, comes into 5SSW with quite some shoes to fill. Alicia announced her presence in the business to the world in April but has yet to be picked up by any of the other promotions or even get any indy bookings. Her round one match against “The Mistress of Pain” Ikuko Temko will be her first professional match. Round One Crusher Ichihara versus Tsuki Kawamata In apparently the biggest mismatch of the tour Crusher Ichihara faces off against Tsuki Kawmata in the Main Event and last match of round one. Tsuki went on a massive losing streak last tour where as Crusher just barely came short of regaining the 5SSW World title. This will also be the first match between these two competitors. Full Card Karen Bilous versus Kinuye Mushashibo Huntress Makiko versus Megumi Nakajima June Butler versus Yori Toyoshima Ikuko Temko versus Alicia Strong Crusher Ichihara versus Tsuki Kawamata OOC
First off I'd like to thank Beeker for for the article in the ITC thread. next to thank was J Silver who did the banner, which is by far one of his best. When it gets shown Trypio did the trophy for the Jade Empress Tournament and it came out great, take my word for it.
Man and I was really trying to go through them all and fix them. I mean I switch them around if it's face versus heel the heel goes first. If a champion is invovled the champion goes first and if it's two of the same push the lower level person goes first. Just sometimes when I don't actually have to make a change I forget to take out the over and put in a versus. I lay everything out in excel because it helps me make sure I'm getting the time right for each show and I don't always remember to fix the cut and paste but I've been trying.

The offense of Otsune consisted of high speed attacks using the ropes to propel her around the ring. While Tomoko, whose offense was quite a bit less flashy used an offense that consisted mostly of varied suplexes and chained mat work. The two women went an impressive twenty minutes with a good pace of back and forth, which ended with the rarely seen this year modified Delfin Clutch finisher of Tomoko called Rise of the Machine.
Round One Match Kiko Sakakibara over Sakura Sada
First out to the ring was the debuting evil avian “The Hawk” Sakura Sada. Sada having left the 5SSW ring late last year was back to make a name for herself against former Bubblegum Girl Kiko Sakakibara. With her tag team disbanded for this tour Kiko came out in less flashy tights and changed music which gave her more an air of the traditional faces like Thunder Hike and Sensational Ogiwara. The in ring action cement this as Kiko went right to work on Sada, being all business in the ring. Kiko had control of most of the match, which was not her best, and at some points seemed to be carrying the bird woman through her own moves. The beating Sakura took truly wore on her, she showed signs of tiring toward the end of the twenty minute match up. Sakura seemed to be making a comeback when Sakakibara caught her out on the top rope, taking to long to set up a move. Kiko showed her old flash for a moment hitting the Bubblegum Pop, her impressive Top Rope DDT.
Round One Match Kit Hatoyama over Saori Nakadan
Kit Hatoyama and Saori Nakadan haven’t met up since the brightest star tour and this match didn’t live up to that one. Hatoyama made a change coming out to the Japanese national anthem and wearing tights that were like the Japanese flag. The fans did really seem to take to the new gimmick so well and maybe that’s what brought the mood of the match down a bit. The match was pretty even in terms of offense but Kit showed a superior move set showing an all around came to Saori’s single minded but obviously weaker mat work attacks. Just shy of fifteen minutes and Saori was visibly tiring and was dazed after a few simple kicks, giving Hatoyama enough time to get up to the top rope and the Lighting Strike (Top Rope Hurricanrana).
Round One Match Dragon Assassin over Yuma Maruya
Her partner debut on the first show of the tour and this time it was Dragon Power’s turn to a member of Intercontinental Flight, Yuma Maruya. Assassin’s partner, also a brawler, used a move set that was straight forward brutal attacks. Assassin herself used power moves that showed a lot more flash; quick Powerbombs, rapid Forearm Blows and Impressive Spears to name a few. Yuma was no push over in this match up, using her speed to keep away from her larger opponent. Yuma made hit and run attacks trying to take out the vertical base of the large brawler. Yuma’s attacks took their toll but with all her moving about Yuma tired herself out and got caught with a boot to the gut and then the Serpent’s Kiss (Stunning Face Crusher).
Tomoko Nagatsuka over Otsune Tsumura – C+ Kiko Sakakibara over Sakura Sada – D+ Kit Hatoyama over Saori Nakadan – C+ Dragon Assassin over Yuma Maruya – C+ Overall Rating: C+ Show two of the tour trumped show one by far. The fan base at the Hofu Arena continues to grow as we hit an all time high of 751 fans. Except for the Sakakibara/Sada match up the show had a pretty even timber. With all the new workers on the roster it may take some time to find a groove that everyone fits in.

Round Two Tomoko Nagatsuka versus Kit Hatoyama Tomoko and Kit have met once before during the Brightest Star tour where Kit beat Tomoko with the Hatoyama Driver. Round Two Dragon Power versus Thunder Hike Both Dragon Power and her partner have made it into round two if the two can make it to the finals then at least one member of the team will be the Jade Empress. Round Two DEVIL Karube versus Principessa One of our non Japanese workers to make it into round two Principessa will face off against maybe the fastest rising star in 5SSW, DEVIL Karube. Her bright yellow and orange outfit definitely showing one of the reasons she’s called “Wild Fire”. Gorgon was trumpeted in by a change of music, the deep bass just gave the feel of some giant slow moving juggernaut. She still had the same face paint but her new ring shirt read “Queen of Fighters”. The size difference was immediately noticeable with Kuniko standing just over 5 feet and Gorgon tower quite a bit over 6. Gorgon’s size and strength kept Kunkio on the run for most of the match. The Giantess batted away most of her opponents moves. The two contrasting styles did seem to click but both workers still need more time in the ring in general and that showed in the match as well. Most of Kunkio’s assault was aerial and only in the last few minutes of the sixteen minute match up. And it wasn’t enough to wear down Gorgon who caught Kuniko during an attempt at a Flying Body Press and got her right up into the Hydra (modified Crucifix) Powerbomb.
Round One Match Saeko Hiroyuki over Chitose Ariwara
Chitose Ariwara who is still more flash then substance proved in this match that if given the right opponent she can put on a good performance. The right opponent in this case was prima donna Saeko Hiroyuki, the self proclaimed goddess of the ring. Both women took to the skies early leaping off the bottom, second and top rope in an attempt to knock out the other early with a high risk maneuver. Chitose didn’t even seem to need to carry as she had in the last tour and an impressive Moonsault to the outside by the cheery performer was actually the highlight of the match. The match lasted a scant eight minutes, which seemed to be because Chitose was visibly tiring. Saeko caught Chitose up on the top rope taking to long to set up for a second Moonsault and managed to get off her own finisher the Hiroyuki Bomb (Top Rope Legsweep Bomb).
Round One Match Joanne Rodriguez over Raku Makuda
J-Ro and “The Assassin” Raku Makuda have met up on numerous occasions in tag team battle but never have they met in singles competition until this match. Just as this match was better than the last so was this match the best the two had ever been in. J-Ro met her match in terms of aerial skill as every time she hit a big speed mover Raku would one up her. Where J-Ro had the edge was on the mat, where her superior technical ability helped her ground “The Assassin” keeping her from her trade mark ability to finish people early with big moves. This match however lasted little longer than the last at ten minutes so it didn’t give a lot of time to tell a complete story. Rebounding from an Irish Whip, J-Ro hit a Flying Knee stunning Makuda long enough for a J-Rocker and a pin.
Round One Match Sensational Ogiwara over Shiori Jippenhsa
The end of a great show was a great match that had the build up from the three matches before it and which the fans were whipped up into a frenzy. Being the Young Lion of the Tour for the Maximum Overdrive Tour everyone was waiting for this first match between Shiori Jippensha and the queen of 5SSW Sensational Ogiwara. The fans anticipation was not disappointed as both athletes went at it with no regard for themselves and only one thing in mind, the win. The fans were treat to two women with a great chemistry in the ring. Even though Ogiwara excels at all aspects of the sport the match was mostly a ground based affair with a lot of fast paced chained moves. The fans were on their feet almost all eighteen minutes of the match and although Ogiwara really looked good out there at some points her win was in question. The question answered with a thundering Sensation Stunner (Fireman’s Carry Face Crusher) that seemed to shake the whole room as a worn down Sensational Ogiwara took the win and moved on to the next round of the Jade Empress Tour.
Gorgon over Kuniko Matsura – D+ Saeko Hiroyuki over Chitose Ariwara – C+ Joanne Rodriguez over Raku Makuda – B Sensational Ogiwara over Shiori Jippenhsa – B+ Overall Rating: B The second show of the tour and the build was exactly what a show should be like. Each match slightly better than the last with a wide variety of styles displayed; giving each fan something they wanted to see. Two match ups with good chemistry in the ring definitely a place to look for future feuds as the younger generation looks to move up the roster. And of course we had yet another sell out of the Doshisha Athletic Center, we may soon be out growing that arena if the demand for tickets gets any higher.

These skills may have done her well in Europe but in Japan the fans thought they were lacking. After Tsuki’s severe beating she very easily fell victim to the Skull Crusher (Leaping) Piledriver.
Karen Bilous over Kinuye Mushashibo – E Megumi Nakajima over Huntress Makiko – C- June Butler over Yori Toyoshima – D- Alicia Strong over Ikuko Temko – C- Crusher Ichihara over Tsuki Kawamata – D+ Overall Rating: D+ Show number four and hopefully the worst show because if it gets any worse than this we’re in trouble. Alicia Strong didn’t make the biggest splash in her debut but she went up against a subpar opponent. Our new hires Karen and Kinuye will definitely need a bit more work before they are ready for anything more than jobbing out to the other workers. Just a few more fans that last time brought 759 as our highest attendance at the Hofu Arena.

At least three of the new additions to the roster have continued on to round two. Now only one will be able to continue on to try and become the Jade Empress. Round Two Crusher Ichihara versus Megumi Nakajima Ichihara has beaten Nakajima in all three of their matches this year, including a title match that was their first. Megumi has stepped up her game and this match will prove she has what it takes or not. Round Two June Butler versus Alicia Strong Alicia Strong had more than a “strong” showing in her first professional match up. Now she goes on to face none other than the queen of mean June Butler. If Strong wants to make it through round two she needs to prove she has more than just her father’s last name. Round Two Saeko Hiroyuki versus Sensational Ogiwara Sensational Ogiwara and Saeko Hiroyuki had two matches during the Brightest Star Tour and with their great in ring cohesion they put on a match of the year candidate battle. This time they meet up with something on the line, a chance to be the Jade Empress. Tomoko took a big lead in the first few minutes of the sixteen minute. Kit’s turn around of the match made it look like she took the initial beating from Tomoko just to gauge her opponent’s strengths. Kit started with a lot of puro Forearm strikes and kicks to stun her opponent. After dazing her opponent Hatoyama took Nagatsuka to the ground and clinical took apart her right need with every bar, lock and stretch in the book. The final leg of Tomoko’s journey to loss was Kit’s aerial attacks. Staggering around Nagatsuka walked right into the Lightning Strike (Top Rope Hurricarana).
Round Two Thunder Hike over Dragon Power
Thunder Hike and Dragon power put on a good show in the second round two match-up. Dragon had an obvious power advantage but the size difference between her and Thunder was minimal. The thing about Dragon Power is that physical strength only allowed her to control about half of the match. The other half of the match was Thunder Hike who used her mix of aerial and ground based attacks to take out Dragon Power. Hike took the submission route in this match as she forced Power to tap out to the Thunder (Scissored) Ankle Lock.
Round Two DEVIL Karube over Principessa
Principessa came into this match favoring her stomach, which suggested some kind of injury. The fans were less than impressed with her first match and they did particularly like this one. On top of the injury and the lack of knowledge of the little princess, these two performers just didn’t have cohesion in the ring and it showed. This below average match up really took the wind out of some other wise good performances. DEVIL controlled most of the match and finished off Principessa by making her tap out to the DEVIL Lock.
Round Two Dragon Assassin over Kiko Sakakibara
Final match of the night and both athletes brought an all around game that kept them pretty evenly matched. Between the two women a lot of flashy moves that seemed to do a lot of damage were flying back and forth. Dragon Assassin mixed her intense speed moves with a lot of American style brawlin’ to keep Kiko Sakakibara off balance. During Kiko’s offenses she mixed slightly less flashy but more sound aerial and speed moves with some intense chain suplexes of varying types. It looked for a moment like Kiko would take the win with the Rainbow DDT (Lifting Reverse DDT) but Dragon managed to slip out the back and hit her own Serpent’s Kiss (Stunning Face Cruser) to pin Kiko.
Kit Hatoyama over Tomoko Nagatsuka – C Thunder Hike over Dragon Power – B- DEVIL Karube over Principessa – D+ Dragon Assassin over Kiko Sakakibara – B- Overall Rating: C+ Any above average show with too good matches to counter one let down. Hatoyama, Hike, Karube and Assassin all move on to the semifinals. This makes Dragon Assassin the only new blood to move on so far. 1000 fans enjoyed the show and were sent home content, although I would have preferred sending them home happy.

All things considered both women have improved greatly in skill over the last few tours but they still don’t have the in ring cohesion to make a match more than decent. Gorgon took a different approach facing J-Ro this time using some of her new moves from Street Fighting in the ring. The large woman seemed spryer in the ring and it took Joanne awhile to adjust to the new style before she could mount a proper offense. After a bit of back and forth between the two long time rivals Joanne finally had the upper hand and used that to her advantage, landing the J-Rocker on Gorgon to once again beat the face painted freak.
Round Two Crusher Ichihara over Megumi Nakajima
Megumi Nakajima may have made it to round two but the fans seemed to be losing interest in the non character that is Megumi. She went up against one of 5SSW’s old school villainesses Crusher Ichihara. Barring their first meeting these two put on one of their best match ups this year, which is a testament to the growth of Megumi as an athlete. Nakajima tried to stand up fight Crusher for awhile and the display was a contrast in styles. Megumi used a lot of Puro Forearm, elbow and knee strikes while Crusher used a much more American style of open handed chops, headbutts and clotheslines. Megumi changed tactics about half way through the eighteen minute match using her smaller size to get off speedy attacks on Crusher’s legs and then using bars and pulls on the legs after flooring the larger opponent. Megumi seemed set to take the win in the match but she couldn’t quite lift Crusher into the Nakajima Straightjacket (Tiger Suplex Variation). This delay gave Ichihara long enough to regain her composure and after a devastating headbutt she literally scooped Megumi into the Skull Crusher Piledriver (Leaping Piledriver).
Round Two Alicia Strong over June Butler
Alicia Strong made it through round two by taking out the self appointed enforcer of 5SSW June Butler. The match was slightly above decent and you could barely see Alicia carrying June through the thirteen minute match up. June came on strong in the beginning of the match using a mix of American and Puro style brawling to keep Alicia off balance. The fans seemed to be behind Strong and when Butler started shouting threats at the fans it gave Alicia enough time to recover and start her offense. Alicia used a mix of aerial moves and mat work reminiscent of her trainer Sensational Ogiwara to tire out and bring down her larger opponent. After a good five minute beating Butler was on her knees in the center of the ring when Alicia finally whipped out the Strong Arm Tactic (Running Elbow to the Temple) to lay her out completely.
Round Two Sensational Ogiwara over Saeko Hiroyuki
The first time Ogiwara and Hiroyuki met up in the Brightest Star Tour they blew away the fans with the match of the tour and a possible world wide match of the year. They didn’t disappoint this time either as the two women put on an intensely physical battle to move on to the quarter finals. Saeko used a single minded speed assault throwing everything and anything at the Sensational One to try take her out. The longer the match goes the more likely Ogiwra was to take a win and Hioyuki knew this. A missed Second Rope Legdrop gave Ogiwara her opening and she blew up in the ring like a super nova. Saeko was totally unprepared for the aerial assault and then after being dazed she was caught into the longest string of chained German Suplexes seen in 5SSW in awhile. The match had more than a few other turns of momentum to show of the great chemistry between these two women, but in the end Ogiwara eventually took the win. The Sensation Special (Octopus Hold) was the finisher of the night and Hiroyuki seemed well stretched as she was helped out of the ring after the match.
Joanne Rodriguez over Gorgon – C Crusher Ichihara over Megumi Nakajima – B- Alicia Strong over June Butler – C+ Sensational Ogiwara over Saeko Hiroyuki – A Overall Rating: B+ Alicia Strong impresses with a win in a weak match over one of 5SSW’s perennial main eventers and becomes athlete number two from the new comers to make it to the quarter finals. Megumi Nakajima shows she’s a future star in a great match with a current star, Crusher Ichihara. J-Ro and Gorgon go at it again and the 5SSW All-Asian shows hat so far her title means just as much ad the 5SSW World Champion. Lastly Sensational Origwara and Saeko Hirouyi blow the roof off of the Hofu Arena sending the 734 fans home happy in so far the best show of the tour.
