Chriswok Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Kable's Blog @ myblogjournalspacebook.com Janurary 2nd 2007 They say that Wrestling is a stable part of North America's Sport Diet, that everyone - has at some point - watched a wrestling show, or at least knows of the house hold names if they haven't. However, for the Great Lake area of North America, wrestling had been a shrewd affair, without it having a promotion to call its own. That's where Great Lake Wrestling came in, a collection of talent from the Great Lakes area wanting a home of their own. 2007 was a new year, obviously, it does that every 12 months - it's not like it sneaks up on you and bites ya on the ass - and it was a chance to showcase what the Great Lakes had to offer. What did the Great Lakes have to offer though? Why was I involved? I was a native of Seattle, Washington, and had only been living in Cleveland for the last 2 years. However, it was in Detroit where the seeds of GLW first started to take shape, when I met Martin Theocott and boy did he have a plan. Theocott had been a long time local personality in the Detroit area, covering College Basketball games for a number of years and, as fate had it, he was also a big time wrestling fan. He too had became annoyed at the lack of promotions in the Great Lakes area, feeling that there was plenty talent growing up without a place to call their home and hone their skills. Oh, sorry. What was I doing in Detroit? I was doing my job, I was a cameraman for live sport events - yes I'm aware of the obvious 'Kable Guy' pun you might tempted to throw my way - and this sport event being a local High School Basketball game. If I'm truthful, I was already aware of Theocott - having read his blog posts about the state of wrestling and replied several times - before I met him that night in Detroit. He must have heard someone shout my name while we were clearing up after a broadcast, or something, as it was actually he who approached me. We got talking about sport in general - turns out he's a big Detroit fan unsurprisingly - with the conversation turning towards wrestling before we exchanged phone numbers with the idea that if either of us were in the area we'd hook up again to share our thoughts on the sports world. I didn't think anything more of it to tell the truth. I'm a torn between my home roots of Seattle and my new home of Cleveland, if you were wondering what team I followed. Call it fate, or just strange coincidence, but that year there was alot of TV coverage bouncing between the Detroit and Cleveland area's basketball teams as they progressed to the State Finals. Mine and Theocott's paths were to mix a few more times, and a few more times we'd talk about which team was going to win - at the time Cleveland had a strong team before Lance Butters suffered some sort of Tennis elbow, leaving Cleveland without their pointgaurd for the rest of the finals - and obviously our thoughts on the wrestling world. It was blatantly clear, with each meeting and conversation a fire was igniting in Theocott's stomach and something was stoking it about the state of affairs in the Great Lake region regarding its wrestlers and lack of promotions. Fittingly the Promotion was going to be called: Great Lakes Wrestling We figured with Theocott's naturtal broadcasting ability, we had that area covered, obviously I had been a cameraman for several years so would have the technical side of the shows sorted for any DVD releases, that just left us needing talent... Chriswok Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Kable's Blog @ myblogjournalspacebook.com Janurary 4th 2007 Me and Theocott had laid the ground work, got the business plan set out, signed the partnership deal and invested $5k each into the promotion; giving us $10k to 'play' with. Only the question was; who to play with - obviously not in the pervy way - and how. Lets take a look at the wrestling scene in North America today, which if we're honest has been the same for the last decade or so. You've got the big two, SWF and TCW. Ok, ok, I know the guys that read this will know all about wrestling and will no doubt know all about the promotion I'm going to list below, but this is for an alien invaders who stumble across my blog with the 'random' button. SWF (Supreme Wrestling Federation) has been around forever, or so it feels, and is probably the main reason wrestling in North America is how it is. It's owned by Richard Eisen, who I personally feel is ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants - such as the collapse of wrestling terrortories. It's definatly the top dog in North America today in terms of power, however its booking is often left with a bitter taste due to Eisen having his favorites. These guys are running out of New England. TCW (Total Championship Wrestling) is the #2 promotion and has been fighting SWF for that top spot for almost 5 years now. They have the better wrestlers, but it's just taking them longer to get over with the fans, due to SWF almost monopolising approach to wrestling. In terms of product the big 2 both offer pretty much the same program - Sports Entertainment - with TCW offering more wrestling to go with the Storylines compared to SWF. Tommy Cornell, the owner, seems hellbent on restoring some wrestling pride to North America and knocking SWF off the top. Sadly, I'm sure this will all end in tears for one or the other. TCW operate out of the South West, more specifically.. Hollywood. Strange that, that the company from the city of Glitz and Glamour centers more around Traditional wrestling with storylines told in the ring as much as on the stick. So what of the other promotions? DaVE (Danger and Violence Extreme) the winner of the East Coast war (defeating - and folding? - 3 other promotions), the Father of Hardcore, the originator of modern wrestling, etc. Sadly, DaVE is nothing like what it used to be. While it may now be, arguably, the #3 promotion in North America today, if you compare it to what it was in its 'hay day' its stale and, personally, an insult to what it stood for. DaVE has slowly turned into everything it was fighting against, its the norm now, its on repeat. The roster is still pretty much the same, minus a few guys who were picked up by one of the big two, the booking is the same, the owner is the same. They run out of the Tri-State area. USPW (United States Pro Wrestling) if you ever wanted to know what time travel was like, this is the place to go. It has all your old favorites doing all their old moves infront of all their old fans. You'll find them putting on their family friendly shows in the South East, where the weather keeps their olive tans nice and... olive. In fairness, Sam Strong is doing a good job down there. I mean, nothing amazing, but he's keeping the memories alive for the old guys and the fans alike. CZCW (Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling) talk about a complete polar opposite to USPW. CZCW is, nearly, everyones favorite Indy promotion. It has one of the most talented rosters in North America in terms of ability, the only thing it lacks (outside of Internet Torrent sites and tape traders) is exposure and interest. CZCW are mixing it up like DaVE used to back in the day, only minus the hardcore. They've got some of the most talented mixture of wrestlers you'll find on one show. Lucha, Cruiser, Spot, Technical, Hybrid fighters that mix all of the above and Puro together. If only CZCW could maybes strike up a deal with TCW to get some exposure, they'd be one of the biggest things in the wrestling world. However, for as talented CZCW they have a huge fight for the title of #1 Indy Promotion with .... MAW (Mid Atlantic Wrestling) Rip Cords baby. The place where many stars of the future go to learn from one of Wrestlings greatest minds (in ring only of course). What makes MAw so special? The Rip Chord Invitational that's what. The best of the Indy best compete for one night to win, what must be, the greatest honor on the Indy scene. No other promotion out there offers something so great as that trophy. The promotion itself is pretty old school, it runs in the Mid Atlantic region (obviously) and offers nothing more and nothing less then kick ass wrestling with a reason why. Ok, so I might have missed/skipped over a few other promotions in North America, and I'm sorry if I haven't included your favorite one, and its not like its meant to be an insult, I just feel like I'm getting side tracked here. The reason I outlined the other promotions was to help explain what GLW was going to offer. If you look at North America and Wrestling, you'll notice that the promotion are either clumped together (Tri-State area, South West) or have large pockets of space where no one goes (North West - minus AAA, Mid South, Great Lakes). This is down to the 'Death of the Terrortories' when SWF appeared on the scene, as well as their grip on wrestling today. No one seems to have a dream to start something new, in a place that needs something new to keep dreams alive. Ok, so I might be getting a little melodramatic here, but in truth, this is what GLW is going to be all about. Resparking the dreams. - Kable [Leave Comment] [2 Comments]
Chriswok Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Kable's Blog @ myblogjournalspacebook.com Janurary 5th 2007 Greetings Citizens of the Great Lake Area! If you're reading this you might have seen this pop up around one of the many great towns in the area: More info to follow, it's safe to say though that GLW is getting exciting the more me and Theocott get together and plan it out. Chriswok Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Kable's Blog @ myblogjournalspacebook.com Janurary 10th 2007 A big well done to Mainstream Hernandez for winning the Rip chord Invitational this year, he had a strong showing and put on a great match against DC Rayne in the final. It could have gone either way and my money was on DC Rayne to come through and win it for the 1st time this year, however it wasn't to be as Mainstream retained the title. Hopefully this doesn't become the Rip Chord Invites People To Remove the Title from Mainstream Trophy and someone else gets the limelight from winning - what is fast becoming the Indy scenes most prized possession - the Trophy. What else has been going on this past week or so, well, Frankie Perez has left CZCW though it was to be expected. Perez is an awesome talent and one that could very much make it 'big time' if he was just allowed to what he does. I can't see the arrival of Shawn Gonzalez as the new booker of CZCW having any reason behind Perez's decision to finally leave, as Gonzalez is one of wrestlings genuine nice guys - seems more like the dirt sheets are trying to spin a story from nothing to shift some units. Talking of new head bookers, Giant Redwood found himself with the book over at RIPW - SWF's feeder promotion - which promptly saw Lion Heart leave. Not sure what the situation there is but, surely if you're grooming talent of the future for your promotion you'd want someone with, well, talent teaching them? Hey, don't get me wrong, Redwood is a veteran of the business, he's just not, you know, very talented. His size and his backstage power are his main talents, and that's not something you'd really want to teach to the young blood of wrestling today, is it? --- As for GLW? Well we've had a wide range of interest of workers wanting to come up/down to GLW and be a part of the newest promotion in North America. The only problem is sorting the players from the pretenders, something Theocott is very determined to do. He doesn't want GLW to become a glorius home for the backyarder, he wants, as do I, it to be a serious contender for #1 Indy promotion in North America. We've met with a few wrestlers and had mixed outcomes, some have been very helpful and agreed to work at a reduced cost to help establish the promotion while others, it would seem, have tried to fleech us for over the odd prices since we're new. I'm not going to name name's but when you can get an established indy star for $400 a show, it's not a good idea for No Name Indy Star to ask for $1k a show when I haven't heard of you, Theocott hasn't heard for you and a quick check on YouTube shows you don't have any highlight reels to offer. While things haven't been 100% finalized, it's looking like we'll be able to announce our first few members of the roster, and of course, GLW's 1st EVER show later on this month. While we don't have any in ring workers officially to announce yet, we do have a new member of the backstage team. Great Lake Wrestling would like to welcome Cherlene Laurent to the team, she'll be working on the merchindise and flyers you'll see around the Great Lake Area soon - she did our wanted poster. Stay tuned GLW is on its way! - Kable [Leave Comment] [1 Comment]
Chriswok Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Janurary 11th 2007 Despite the sun shinning high in the sky, it was a typical Winter's day for a Great Lake city, Chicago to be more exact. There was a bitterness to the wind, and as usual mounds of snow that had been heaped up over night lay in various corners off the sidewalk. The odd kid walked past blow hot air from his mouth and making train noises as the 'smoke' funneled out into the winter air, it was business as usual. Kable and Theocott sat in a local no name Diner - only this one had a name it was called Marties' - a greasy burger each on their plates, with a single mug of coffee standing gaurd next to it to unclog their Arteries just incase. It was business as usual alright, they sat and mulled over 'Great Lake Wrestling' their baby to be. "What style of show are we going to advertise?" Theocott asked Kable, who was in mid bight of his greasy burger of death. He shrugged, chewed and forced a hard swallow. The burger chunk seemed to grab hard all the way down his throat despite the grease. "Not sure, it's something I can't work out." Kable replied, his hand reaching for the coffee to ease the pain and scold any reclusive burger meat from his throat. "I mean, I don't really think that's something you can bottle neck down so much. In an ideal world I'd like our promotion to appeal to everyone. One things for sure I don't want it to be all about Storylines and no talent wrestlers acting 90% of the time for the fans." He took a drink from the coffee and continued. "I'm a fan of wrestling, I enjoy the storylines as an added extra not as the main course. I want to see talented guys do their trade in the ring, tell a story in the ring and give it a little extra spice on the stick." Theocott nodded taking in what his business partner and co-owner of GLW had to say, he agreed for the most part. "Yeah, I see what you're saying, but if we branch out too thin we might end up not appealing to anyone." "True." "Oh hey, I got a call from Lance Butters, he wants to be part of GLW." "Lance Butters?" Kable asked, racking his brain to try and put a face to the name, it certainly rang some kind of bell; he just wasn't sure if it was good or not. "Yeah, he was in the Cleveland all State Basketball Team, probably would have went Pro if he hadn't blown his elbow out big time." "Oh, yeah, I remember reading about that a while back. Damn." "He wants to be part of our promotion, apprently he sees wrestling as an alternative route in sports for himself." "Oh really?" Kable said none to sure. "Yeah, he's pretty athletic and somewhat of a local hero in Ohio." Theocott, wiped the grease from his face with the tracing paper like napkin. "Could be a good thing to have him on board." "Well yeah, but, can he wrestling?" "Not for love or money." "So he'll work for free, then?" "As long as we train him." Kable laughed loudly, probably too loudly as a few other of Marties' 'regulars' turned their heads to have a look at the foreign sound that rattled around the diner. Kable raised his hand in acknowledgement of his outburst and chuckled a little. "Do you know a wrestling trainer?" Kable asked. "I'm no wrestling trainer, I'm guessing you're not." "Yeah, you're right there. Maybes we can get one on board, maybes bring in money that way to offset the cost of shows." Theocott repsonded and decided against finishing the rest of the Burger as it sat happily in its own little sea of grease. "Could do, but who?" "Stuart Ferdinand." Theocott said, sliding a letter around the plates to Kable. "Chicago born, currently in on tour in Japan." Kable read over the letter as Theocott finished talking. "Pretty sound wrestling gaining alot of experience from working in Japan, he's looking to open a training school sometimes in the future once his Japan Tours are done this year. We get him on board, we let him teach our roster and we give him a few shows now and again to get him over in the area..." "Does he know about your grand plan?" Kable said, stopping Theocott from gaining too much momentum in his idea. "Well not yet, just sign the bottom of that letter and we'll send it off to him and see what he says." Theocott said, point to the bottom of the letter he had handed over to Kable moments before. Kable took another quick read and realised that he had stopped Theocott at the right time if the letter was anything to go by. It went into great detail on how GLW was going to build from the ground up its own reputation and stars in the Great Lake area and become the #1 Indy promotion in the US. It stated how GLW (Theocott) would be honored to have a teacher such as Ferdinand to work for them, and could offer him a place to teach, a ring to work in and all the local raw talent he could ever want to teach - as well as pay him... "$1,400!" Kable said, the greasy burger almost projecting itself from his stomach and back onto the plate that lay just off to the left. "That's per appearance, Chris. $1,000 per show, $400 for his services to teach the rest of our roster. He'll be a makeshift road agent if you will." "Man, that's alot of money." "C'mon, just sign at the bottom. This is what its all about, taking educated guesses and making a gamble on the big moves to make the dream come true!" Kable paused and mulled over the letter again, slowly he took the pen that Theocott had ready and waiting in his hand for him to sign with and signed the letter... "Oh boy."

Chriswok Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007
An interesting background so far. I'll be there to see what's coming next.
Hey thanks for reading and replying :) Ran the 1st show, just need to write the lead up to the show before I can post it. --- Janurary 16th 2007 "So there it is, pal." Martin Theocott spoke with a beaming smile. The confirmation that Staurt Ferdinand would be onboard with Great Lakes Wrestling, and would be willing to teach the stars of tomorrow on the side as well. Kable read over the letter again and couldn't believe it. "This for real?" "Hey, it's got 'Marty's Stamp of Approval', my friend!" Theocott could hardly contain his delight, it was as if all his Christmas' had came at once. "Man, this is a pretty big signing. Ferdinand's becoming quiet the star over in Japan, he's talented and he's going to be helping us?" The sense of disbelief continued to flow through Kable's mind. Either Ferdinand was one of wrestlings genuine nice guys and was willing to help two no name guys with their new wrestling promotion, or Theocott had just pulled the biggest rib on him in wrestling history! Kable leant and examined the letter again, it certinaly seemed legit. Theocott let out a bout of laughter he could no longer contain, it was part joy at signing Ferdinand and part stupidity on Kable's part. "Relax, guy, trust me, this is for real!" He said, knowing fine well Kable didn't believe him. "Just need to let him finish his tour with GCG and he'll be on his way to GLW. Don't know if you know this or not, but he's currently the Tag Champion over at GCG; that's how good he is." Theocott shot his watch a quick look, as if waiting for something. "You didn't order another greasy burger did you Theo?" Kable asked, hoping the answer was no, those things were deadly. "Nah, just waiting for..." Theocott faded out mid sentance as his gaze fell upon the door of the diner as it opened up. A tall, athletic young man walked in, and looked around waving at Theocott as he caught his gaze. Theocott waved back and the man approached the table. "...this guy." Theocott finished his prolonged sentance. "Hi." The guy said. "Kable - Butters, Butters - Kable." Theocott introduced the pair. It took a minute for Kable to work out who Butters was. "Lance Butters?" He said, as if answering a question on a gameshow he wasn't too sure about. "Pleased to met you, sir." Lance Butters said, his young manners startling Kable. "Whow, none of the sir business, please." Kable said, holding his hands in the air. "I mean, it's nice of you to have manners, but damn kid, don't make me feel older then I am." "Sorry, si..." Butters said. "Sit down." Theocott shuffled across the seat to allow Butters to sit down. "I told Kable last week you were interested in joining GLW. He loves the idea." Kable looked at Theocott but didn't say anything, he certinaly couldn't remember saying he 'loved the idea'. If anything, he was somewhat passive on the idea, he was convinced Lance Butters - ex all state college basketball star - saw wrestling as an easy meal ticket; even if he said he'd do it all for free. There just had to be some catch, somewhere... surely. "Didn't you Kable." Theocott kicked him under the table, stuttering him out of his inner thoughts about how devious this Butters kid must be. "Um, yeah." It didn't sound sincere or legit at all, but he had to say something other then 'No, I think he'll crash and burn and drag us down with him'. "See!" Theo, replied injecting the enthusiasim Kable lacked in his response. "Thank you. I've been a fan of wrestling ever since I was a kid..." "Who was your favorite?" Kable butted in, trying to catch the rookie off gaurd." "Sam Keith." Butters replied. Well at least its the right era, Kable thought to himself. If he wasn't honest he was somewhat of a Sam Keith mark himself. Damn kids. "Well, Lance Butters," Theocott said, trying to stop Kable's interrogation of the rookie. "We'd like to welcome you, on behalf of Great Lakes Wrestling, as our first official member of the roster!" --- And that was it, that was the day that we signed Lance Butters to GLW. Another typical Chicago day outside, cold air biting at the face and fingers, a dark grey cloud hanging overhead threaten to snow at the drop of a hat with the ambience of the clattering 'L' doing its regular rounds. Strangely, after the signing of Lance Butters alot of other signings seemed to just fall into place. That week alone we had picked up; Stuart Ferdinand (Talent/Trainer), Lance Butters (Trainee), and two guys from Canada; Cal Sanders and Jon Jetson. It was just the start of things to come as the week after we had a sudden storm of interest from prospective workers wanting to work for GLW. But I'll leave that for another blog post. - Kable

HOWEVER, they're not the only talent we've got, OH NO, we're currently in talks with several other stars who want to be part of GLW. As always keep an eye out on the blog for updates and information (at least till we have our website up and running). - Kable
Chriswok Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 Janurary 18th 2007 So we've got the barebones of a roster laid out infront of us now, and continue to expand it, boy we weren't prepared for what came next. A letter of intent from a group called the 'Tri-State Mafia'; claiming that, like all new promotions, Great Lake Wrestling owed $2,500 in protection money. Protection money? Protection from what? The Tri-State Mafia? Seriously, the worst thing about this is, we don't even know who these clowns are. Apprently, we've (Great Lake Wrestling) has up to our 1st show 'cough up the cash' to this 'Tri-State Mafia'. I ran their name through Wikipedia but found nothing, something tells me this could be a rib from Theocott. So Theo, if you're reading this, it was a good attempt but I'm not going to fall for it, pal! Onto some good news, a few new additions to the roster no less! A few years ago there was a promotion called 'Southern Championship Class Wrestling' that operated, strangely enough, in the South. Sadly, they had to close their doors (in 2003), but lasted a good 5 years before doing so and produced some good talent. Intially, we were interested, well I was interested (Theo said he had never seen a SCCW show before) in bringing in Brady Prince, as I thought he had everything needed to actually make it into the 'big 3' at the time. Now, a few years later, he's shaved off his blonde locks and gained alot of muscle mass. However, he's still the same Brady Prince in the ring only alot meaner! I spent the most part of yesterday, after reading, pondering and then dismissing this 'Tri-State Mafia' affair, tracking down and calling Brady Prince about working for GLW. After a few hours of talking about SCCW, current affairs of wrestling and Brady Prince's plans, we came to agreement that Brady Prince would come to work for GLW! That's right folks, Great Lakes Wrestling has signed former SCCW Tag Team Champion and 1 time SCCW Heavyweight Champion Brady Prince. HOWEVER, that was only the start of a chain event of happenings. An hour later WE got a phone call from Buck Graham, Brady Prince's tag team partner (they wrestled together under the name of 'The Maryland Alliance' in SCCW) asking us if he could sign on. This, of course, was great news as it meant we had the collection! So not only had we managed to sign Brady Prince, but we got his long time tag team partner Buck Graham as well. Not a bad days business at all. HOWEVER (part2) that wasn't the end of it, word must have got around that GLW were recruiting, as yet ANOTHER old SCCW name contacted us about the prospect of returning to the ring with GLW. What's more Whiskey Jack told us he was still in contact with his old tag team partner Blackjack Robbins (they tagged as the 'Tennesee Outlaws' in SCCW) and said the odds were good he'd get back into the ring if it didn't clash with his current job as a 'night doorman'. So in one afternoon GLW had managed to acquire 4 new wrestlers and 2 tag teams in one go. So ladies and gentlemen, Great Lakes Wrestling would like to welcome: Blackjack Robbins Brady Prince Buck Graham Whiskey Jack A good days business for GLW, however, I've only just realised that this guys look the same. Hopefully this wasn't the reason SCCW collapsed a few years ago! - Kable
MaxxHexx Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I am on board with this one. What will Butters stats be like?
Chriswok Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007
I am on board with this one. What will Butters stats be like?
Naturally athletic due to his Basketball days (B+) with some good stamina (B), some ok star quality (C) and looks (D+), his entertainment skills ok due to his days having to give interviews after matches (D- Mic D+ Charisma) then everything else is pretty much 0, as he's never wrestled before. It's going to be way hard to get him over and gain him some skills, but it's something I'm tempted to try (or maybes find another role for him) who knows! He has an 'F' popularity in the Great Lakes Area with F- everywhere else. Any insight into the Great Lakes area would be helpful, thanks for reading :)
Sons of Kohral Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Looks pretty cool! Btw, with Jetson... bootleg Team Canada?
Chriswok Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007
Looks pretty cool! Btw, with Jetson... bootleg Team Canada?
Thanks for taking the time to read :) As with Jetson he's played the 'Loner' gimmick for a while, so at the moment I can't seem him doing any 'Team Canada' stable. But who's to say that can't be a future storyline, nice pick up!
Chriswok Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 Janurary 20th 2007 Hi folks, with the signing of Alan Gray as our senior referee GLW is proud to announce... Yes that's right folks! Great Lakes Wrestling is announcing their first show 27th Janurary 2007, mark it down on your myspace calenders, text your friends and turn up! Ticket prices are free for this show, so there's no reason to not turn up. You may also have recognised a few names you've haven't seen announced as part of the GLW roster yet. D.C Rayne and Frankie Dee, two bright stars of the future in the making without a doubt, wrestlers we're very glad to have as part of the roster. D.C Rayne currently works for Mid Atlantic Wrestling and was runner up in the Rip Chord Invitational. Infact, his performances that night (yes I was there in attendance) was such that it would have be a wrong not to have asked him to take part in our shows. Thankfully, he agreed. Frankie Dee grabbed our attention when a dvd landed on our desk. Not one to pass up a free DVD we quickly placed it on the dvd player and watched 30 minutes of a Frankie Dee highlight reel. What does Frankie Dee bring to the ring? Super Stiff martial arts kicks. That's not all however, Frankie is a well rounded worker, that can give you a bit of everything. With his new 'White Angel' look, he was another wrestler we had to sign up! We're also going to crown the first ever GLW Tag Team Champions that night too. A match between two teams that have fought each other before and had an intense rivalry in SCCW. The Tennessee Outlaws -v- The Maryland Express, both teams held the SCCW Tag Team Titles a number of times, but which one will gain the bragging rights to being the FIRST EVER GLW Tag Team Champions? Come down on the 27th Janurary to find out! That's our GLW update, Stayed Tuned for more - Kable
Chriswok Posted April 22, 2007 Author Posted April 22, 2007 Website on the way! Janurary 21st 2007 Charlene has been hard at work on the GLW website, and it should be up in the next couple of days. Also in the next couple of days is GLW's 1st Show, I put a little teaser of the show up in yesterdays blog post, so look back to catch the flyer. For the benefits of those who don't like pictures here's a quick written card of matches confirmed at the show.
Staurt Ferdinand v Jon Jetson Ferdinand and Jetson share only one thing in common, they're both veterans in the wrestling world, have amassed a huge 40 years between them in the ring. Ferdinand is a current Tag Title holder in CGC over in Japan and is a well respected Technical wrestler. Facing a guy like Jon Jeton - the big Brawler from Canada - is something he'll be more then ready for, having fought against heavier puro style wrestlers for many years in Japan. GLW Tag Title Match The Maryland Alliance v The Tennessee Outlaws Tag Titles seem to have taken a back road in many promotions across the years as singles competition takes the main stage. However, here at GLW, we want all our titles to mean something, so what better way then to have them on the line at the 1st show. The Maryland Alliance and The Tennessee Outlaws know each other inside and out - having fought each other for many years in SCCW for the SCCW Tag Team Titles. Dog Fyte v Dazzling Dave Diamond Dog Fyte by name, Dog Fyte by nature. This man is 100% pure aggression and drive, he doesn't speak words, but he speaks volumes when he's fighting. Small explosive pitbull of a fighter that doesn't take crap from anyone as Dazzling Dave Diamond quickly found out. The match came about after Dazzling Dave Diamond claimed he could beat anyone, anywhere at anytime. Dog Fyte, being the guy we've quickly learnt he is, tried to knock Dave clean out on the spot at the GLW meeting we held yesterday. Thankfully for Dave, Dog was stopped before he was able to connect with a forearm homing into Dave's chin. Safe to say we had to book them in a match to 'keep the peace'. However, lets not discredit Triple D Dazzling Dave Diamond before the match as even began. DDD might be one of the oldest rookies out there, but he has a natural talent and style about him in the ring - hey, he's not called Dazzling for nothing. A good stand up brawler, he can certainly trash talk and antagonize as well as he can fight. D.C Rayne v Frankie Dee How do you find out who's the better guy, who deserves a chance to go for the GLW Championship later on this year? By making them fight. D.C Rayne and Frankie Dee don't have any heat with each other, this match is nothing more then a simple straight up 1v1 match for bragging rights and momentum within GLW. D.C Rayne and Frankie Dee may seem worlds apart, but there's something about them that makes you realise that they're on a parallel track in the world of wrestling. Both are young, hard working wrestlers looking for a break on the indie scene - and as such have a lot to prove to themselves and promotions out there. While this match might not have any heat behind it, it certinaly has alot on the line for individual pride and glory for the youngsters.
So that's just a quick look at the card for GLW 1st Show coming up this Saturday. It's looking good and I can hardly wait! As always keep checking the blog of more updates on GLW and the my views on the wrestling world. Remember the website should be up soon with even MORE details about GLW shows and its wrestlers. Thanks - Kable
