AfRoMaN36 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 The Good: The show revolved around the main event and the main event was the best I've seen in a long time. Actually reminicint of the ECW of old, and it got the fans in the arena from a slumber to actually chanting "ECW! ECW! ECW!" The match was just about everything ECW stood for... harcore matches, stiff shots, and stiff shots!! Speaking of stiff shots, Sabu earned massive points with me and the fans and it brings up the point of why this guy isnt getting pushed better? When Thorn had RVD on the ropes for his weak finisher, I was going to cry as a great match would be spoiled by its own predictabillity. Thats when Sabu just hurled a chair right in thorns face. But by the end of the match, it was its own predictabillity that made this match great. I mean, come on... did anyone expect the Originals to win 2 weeks in a row? And you knew they were going to play off this extreme rules match by saying that the New Breed beat them at their own game. But if you were to watch this match, you would swear the originals had this wrapped up. This is just solid booking. The Bad: Wtf is up with all the interuptions? And its not just ECW, but all 3 shows have been whored out by dumb interuptions. The following would be a normal show... "Okay, were going to show you this match between wrestler A and Wrestler B.... but first.... 3 HALF NAKED WOMEN DANCE!!! And then... after the weekly helping of softcore porn.... "Okay, here comes the match you've been waiting for.... but first.... a video package from another brand!" And then.... "Okay, Im serious now.... here come the workers to the ring.... and they will wrestle.... AFTER THE BREAK!" This problem has been snowballing for a while and it needs to stop before my TV Guide forgets whats on at this hour. And on another note, Hardcore Holly seems to have pissed someone off who isnt a rookie or smaller than him. The guys being buried now and it really makes me wonder why they just pushed him to the moon a few months back. Just when I though of old spark plug as a legit threat, the WWE... "pulls the plug." Overall: I was inking up my two star stamp until the main event came on. And My concerned were made worse when their were 5 minutes left until 10PM and the main event had yet to start. but the main event saved everything and put this brand into perspective.... "This brand is BASED on this feud." Rating: *** (good finish, but a slow everything else) Best Pops: 1. Bobby Lashley 2. CM Punk 3. Sabu Best Heat: 1. The New Breed 2. Bobby Lashley 3. Stevie Richards (Ironically, an ECW Original) My Two Cents: * Afroman has lost 10 points of overness for that terrible pun at the end of his review. * That would bring my grand total to a whopping 20... *Jobs to Horowitz* * Lashley outta be very proud of himself for.... being average on the mic tonight. * Five bucks says he called momma after his promo so that she can put this C+ on the fridge. * (Insert semi-offensive comment that will rub someone the wrong way) * Stevie Richards would make a great heel if pushed from the look of this match alone. Its a shame "management" has yet to find something for him. * Did you recondize Extreme Expose tonight...? What with clothes on and everything... * And that Brooke girl has a decent body... but has a face that resembles a foot. * Someone tell Snitsky that playing with saliva and mucus isnt scary.... its gross * Sabu earned mark out points for that match Make sure to leave feedback on tonights show.
weirdo_man Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 ugh now i wish i would have watched it but i turned on futurama. maybe the match will show up on youtube. i didn't figure it would be any better than the wrestlemania one, which was lacking. but i guess the extreme rules made it fun?
AfRoMaN36 Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 Well, I think wwe.com has smething called "hardcore hangover" where they replay ECW matches over the net if you want to watch it again. Im not sure though, you may want to check it out tomorrow.
GDE71 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I hate spots, but when those spots involve throwing stop signs, folding chairs at people, I can like it. Brooke does have a banging body, but is butt-ugly. Kelly is stiffer than the erection you are supposed to get watching her dance. Layla looks better when she doesn't straighten her hair. Snitsky is stupid. Reminds me of Khali except he can at least bend at the waist. Lashley should avoid the mic at all costs. Why they haven't put a manager with him is beyond belief. Despite the problems ECW has, this show was worth watching.
Jasx12 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Lashley is getting better on the mic. His problem is his voice. If he could find a way to speak in a lower tone, he would be much more imposing and people would be surprised. Brooke and Kelly are ass-ugly. Layla is the only one in EE that is both good at dancing and to look at. I hate Snitsky, and wanted Holly to mess him up (and I hate Holly.) The Main Event was a good quality match, with the crowd in the background chanting "Holy Sh*t, Holy Sh*t", and "ECDUB, ECDUB". I liked this ECW, and they need to make more "Extreme Rules" matches, because after all, isn't that was this is supposed to be?
AfRoMaN36 Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 Yeah... what the hells the point of the ECW brand with no extreme rules matches? I think Vince is trying to pull an XFL with the ECW and make it so that the E doesnt mean anything at all... Sad too, because if we had more of these, ECW would easily be my favorite brand.
Remianen Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007
The Main Event was a good quality match, with the crowd in the background chanting "Holy Sh*t, Holy Sh*t", and "ECDUB, ECDUB". Sci-Fi's kinda anal on content and blood, which is odd to me. Anyway, I loved the main event. It was so wonderfully chaotic, it brought back great memories of a bingo hall. I like how Layla tried to cover up her gaffe (when they dropped down on the chairs, she almost fell off hers). I think Layla should have kept her hair wild but then I think Kelis should've done the same thing before her. Lashley doesn't have a manager (and isn't going to get a manager) because it seems the 'E is moving away from that kinda thing for their main eventers. Umaga has one for character purposes (he's a savage and thus, can't speak coherently), Booker has one because it's his RL wife, etc. Plus, they think Bobby can develop mic skills (which I doubt, for the reason Jasx gave) and a manager might divert attention from him and his 'awesome' look. At least that's my guess. Lashley's one major deficiency seems to be his mic work (let's not get into his mat work, it's not as important) and that's obvious to anyone who listens to him. I think he'd do well with a catchphrase of some kind or a nickname or something. Worked wonders for Batista, no? I think ECW would do well to try to bottle the main event of this show and replicate it for weeks to come. Oh, and I also love how they're covering up the glaring deficiencies in ECW's roster (lack of credible main event talent aside from the champion, arguably) by having Lashley appear everywhere and focusing the camera/writing time on a midcard stable feud. Nice touch. :)
AfRoMaN36 Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 I dont mind the midcard stable feud if we get more of these;)
thug saint oga Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 i only caught the main event, and from the show review, i saw the only thing worth seeing. i really enjoyed the match. it was a whole lot like the "original" ecw. that's what it's all about. everything i've ever seen on ecdub now-a-days is garbage that doesn't warrent the title "e-c-w". probably the best match i've seen on sci-fi's version.
AfRoMaN36 Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 If its true that its Sci-Fi's fault that ECW hasnt been as extreme as it could be.... then I say the WWE look for a diffrent home. Or as a matter of fact, I say we pettition to Sci Fi to be more linient on the blood and violence of EXTREME championship wrestling. EDIT: It seems like PWinsider is hinting that Hardcore Holly is injured and is going into surgury. Hm... I guess that explains why he was squashed by Snitsky aferall... EDIT.... Again: http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/hardcorehangover/ Right now, the only match thats up is the CM punk match, but they'll eventually put up everything else.
GDE71 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 wwe dot com is selling a broken arm from the chairs on the steps.
djthefunkchris Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 This is so weird, the one time I really liked CM Punks match the best, and no one even talks about it, lol.
lovestruck420 Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I actually got into this show, and that is an amazing feat for me. I mainly put it on for my son to watch. He's a wrestling freak just like me when I was his age. He was saying, "Dad, this show is actually good!" So I started watching and was blown away from the Main event. It was very high quality. Question, did anyone see how Elijah Burke landed on his knee in the end, did he actually injure it?
GDE71 Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I read the Elijah was just selling like a champ and that he's at the OVW taping. So he's fine.
AfRoMaN36 Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 CM punks match was good and I was impressed by Richards work. Just from this match I feel he has the potential to be a very good heel in ECW. And Elijah took a nasty shot on the knee, but seemed fine afterwards. Perhaps he was just selling it well... The entire match was as stiff as a punch in the face. Did anyone see that bump where Dreamer was supposed hve his face land on the chair seat? He ended up hitting the top of the chair, welting that bad boy up pretty badly. And Sabu.... well, that guy could make a great Major Leauge pitcher with the way he hurls objects at people.
djthefunkchris Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I like the Snitsky monster thing as well... Sorry but I do, lol. I thought having snot all over his chin was a pretty good way to disgust (and make him more of a monster) everyone. Would you want to touch him after seeing that? I doubt Holly did. Holly losing to Snitsky to me isn't..... It's like when someone lose's to Khali. He's supposed to be the next Giant/Heel. If I were using him, I would think "WOW!! I can use him as a Giant AND Shiek type gimmicks, all in one package!". So to me when someone lose's to someone like Khali, Snitsky, Umaga, etc.. That's not Umaga, Snitsky, or Khali "Squashing" them, it's Whoever lost helping the "E" Establish their monsters...
GDE71 Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 In my opinion, Khali is a joke. Anyone could run around behind him and knock a knee and then he'd be dead. Snitsky at least can move a little, but he's still not what I want to see in the ring. Monsters really aren't good for wrestling. I'd much rather see people 5'8" - 6'2" and weighing 180-230.
jerlito Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 well i fell asleep before it started because i have seen the doctor all man i wish i could have seen it.

I like contrasts, the littlest guy beating the big guy.. The Monster's.. You put a 7' musclebound freak in the ring with a 180-230 pounder, and make it a "toughman" contest, and you will pretty much see the same results... It's WHY we have weight class's in "real" competitive match's. There is a reason they don't let a 450 pound man box against a 180 pound man. It's as obvious as why Khali is not going down by just "ANYONE". They might be able to take out a knee, but he has to land somewhere. I'm not saying that YOU have to like them, or that you should. Realistically though, a Giant like Big Show, Khali, etc, isn't going to be an easy victory in a "real" fight, and so I feel they shouldn't be in a wrestling match either. The problem to me with Khali, is that he doesn't know how to "Entertain" me/us yet. I will not aggree someone like him would be an easy victory for any "average" person to beat though.

Actually the only time I've seen a real fight with a guy that big involved, it was an MMA fight in PRIDE involving Giant Silva, the giant's opponent took him apart rather easily. The freakishly huge guys tend to do poorly in MMA fights for some reason. Of course that's against trained fighters, against the average person they'd likely do better.
MightyDavidson Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007
You really believe that anyone could easily take out Khali? LMAO.
Well maybe not ANYONE but I certainly belive a trained fighter can take down Khali fairly easily. He's not really a fighter after all, before he went into pro wresting he was a bodybuilder.
djthefunkchris Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I wasn't trying to say that Khali (or Big Show, etc) should not be able to be beat or anything... I just wanted to emphasize (on a forum about wrestling simulations) the huge pro's with having a believable Giant (someone actually that big... And pretty buffed out on top of it) in an entertainment based promotion. You can have the preverbial David vs. Goliath, the predictable monster, the kindly giant, etc. Just so much you can do with a giant sized person that can walk... And I'm old school. I was also someone that liked/hated Andre the Giant. To me in most the mods around here he gets alot more respectable stats then what I would have gave him. I always said the same things about him as I am hearing in here about Khali... but that doesn't mean it's not fun, lol.
GDE71 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Please don't compare Khali to The Big Show. I can't even fathom that anyone would compare the two. It boggles the mind. Khali=turds
