aznironman Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Hello everyone. I'm Geoff, the creator of the 'Death of WWE' concept for TEW2005, and I decide to create something different for TEW2007. I don't know if a 'world draft' concept has been made for TEW2007, so I decided to put something together, with a decent backstory, for everyone to enjoy. Here's the info from the readme file: ------------------------------------------------------------- CornellVerse Free Agent Draft v1.0 Concept by Geoff Clark Original Data by Adam Ryland Created on April 06, 2007 **************************************** Backstory **************************************** ---December 24, 2006--- The World Wide Wrestling Council decided that the world of wrestling was getting stale across the world. In the US market, although the war between the SWF and TCW has been interesting, especially with DAVE and USPW becoming major players, the fans had been getting burnt out on the excessive amount of 'main events' on TV every week. There's no anticipation to see anything fresh. In the Canadian market, NOTBPW has been dominating the scene. CGC puts up a decent competition, but cannot compete with NOTBPW. Which had seem impossible, the fans are starting to get bored with the Stone and DeColt families running the Canadian wrestling scenes, in the NOTBPW and CGC respectively, and demand a shakeup of sorts. In the Japanese market, the Japanese fans are upset and turned off from the entire Burning/INSPIRE situation and the lack of quality from PGHW. In the Mexican market, the industry had been falling until the 2005 draft, but after a short increase, it has went back to a decrease. In the UK/Euro markets, wrestling has never really been big in these markets, and in recent time, have falling a great deal. These situations left the Council with the question 'What do we do?'. Members of the Council were joined by the owners of all respective promotions across the globe. It was discussed and predicted that unless something was done, the interest in the wrestling industry itself, despite what genre of wrestling it is, would eventually disappear. This caused a panic in the board room and a solution was proposed. The owners of the 'Big 3' in Mexico, Domino (MPWF), Joaquin Soler (OLLIE), and Jorge Ibanez (SOTBPW), suggested a draft be conducted. Immediately, there was a state of discomfort in the room. Richard Eisen (SWF) was the first to say that it would never work on a worldwide scale. Tommy Cornell (TCW), his primary rival, agreed with Eisen, and was backed by Sam Strong (USPW). Seeing an chance to possibly 'draft' some fresh names that had been locked up by huge written contracts, Phil Vibert (DAVE) suggested that it would be a great idea. Almost immediately there was an another outburst of argument in the room. The room was called to order. The Council then decided that a draft of sorts would give the wrestling world a spark of interest, especially with fans wanting to know where their wrestlers would be going. Vibert added that it would a chance for fresh lineups, which the Council agreed. Eisen and Cornell were visibly upset. Dan Stone (NOTBPW) and George DeColt (CGC) were relaxed as they knew that their stars (the Stone and DeColt families) would be locked to their promotions, until the next statement. The Council stated that all contracts, would be null and void, whether they were written, pay-per-appearance, exclusive, or lifetime. There was another outburst. Stone and DeColt protested this decision, but the Council said that was their ruling and it could not be disputed. Kaneie Komine (BHOTWG) asked for one request, respectfully. He asked the Council if the champions could remain in their promotions, as for them to leave, it would hurt the prestige of their title belts. The Council agreed with Komine and decided that all title holders in all promotions would be given lifetime contracts and bound to the promotion they were a part of. The promotions would then have to fight to get the wrestlers they wanted, first come first serve. The Council then stated that all TV and PPV deals would be taken off the table and that all promotions would have to build everything from scratch, with their champions as a base. There was an outburst once again, with all promoters upset, except for the small sized owners and Phil Vibert, who saw a golden opportunity in front of him. ---December 25, 2006--- Christmas Day. Wrestlers across the world were notified of the worldwide draft. They were notified that they would be free agents in the next few days and were wished luck. Some wrestlers took the news as a blessing, especially those that were either secretly or openly unhappy about their written deals. Others took the news dreadfully, as they would lose their current deal and possible not get the chance to return to that promotion. ---December 31, 2006--- After hearing of the news of the draft, millionaire business man, Geoff Clark, who had become an overnight millionaire thanks to stock in a booming electronic company, declares the opening of Universal Pro Wrestling. His popularity alone gets the mainstream talking, and his openly large checkbook attracts many wrestlers. Richard Eisen and Tommy Cornell, the two leader of the North American market, make statements, very obviously unhappy about, not only the draft situation, but Clark's insertion into the North American wrestling scene. ---January 1, 2007--- The draft begins... **************************************** Rules **************************************** Although, you can do what you want, to stay within the story of the scenario, I suggest the following: 1. All Areas Turned On. 2. Worker Restrictions Turned Off. 3. Use Straight Edge Game Style. 4. Play As Head Booker (Not Owner). 5. Enjoy! **************************************** Credit **************************************** Thanks Adam Ryland for a fantastic game and an awesome database.
