CornellVerse: EffVerse Expansion Beta RELEASED!

This is the first beta release for the CornellVerse: EffVerse Expansion. I will say this early, this is a very early beta release and the mod is not nearly finished.This beta will work a little differently than most. Obviously I'm looking for the usual stuff, unbalance, errors, all that jazz. What I am also looking for though is input on how to make the mod better creatively. Feel free to suggest anything involving the default EffVerse characters. Suggest tag teams, relationships, stables, title history, current champions, bio changes, anything. Also, please be gentle, lol if it sucks don't just tell me it sucks, let me know how I can make it better. Another thing to note, everything is up for alteration on anything so just let me know what you think should be adjusted and I will certainly look into it. This is my first mod ever and I'm faily certain it can use a lot of fine tuning and I figure the best way to make it so that people like it is to have people tell me what they like or don't like. Looks good so far as I gave it a cursory look in the editor. I've only noticed a couple of typos (missing letters but I can't remember where, sorry) and most of the stats are dead on. I do have a couple of nits but I think you've done a very good job. It would seem to me that a bit of constructive advice is worth more than just saying good job so here goes: A couple of your "powerhouses" have very low power scores: Bane & Mr. America I think. Might want to roid them up. You have a very entertaining universe as I notice most of your workers have high mic and charisma scores. If you like it that way not a problem. I noticed some workers with high brawl scores but 0 or 1 hardcore skills (your cowboy duo for two in LSW). It just seems odd that a great brawler would have zero hardcore ability. It'll also lower their "Rumble" grade quite a bit. That Rumble score is already problematic in TEW because of Puroseau (sp?) style as it gets factored in but not many workers should have it. That lowers great brawlers across the board when looking at their profile (unless highest grade is chosen as the filter). Backstory: not that important but how did these workers in your new feds have no contact with the workers or feds from the original C-Verse? Or did I miss it in the bios (again it was a quick look)? I don't know how to answer that question (which is why I stuck with future workers for my mod) but if you can balance intergrating the added people more or figure out why they are not intergrated it will do alot for the believability of the mod. You might even consider making the Effverse a separate place. You could use Cornellverse workers and feds and intergrate them into YOUR universe. Adam has given permission to use it however anyone sees fit. Again, great job. I'll look again as time permits.

Yeah, I figured I would have some typos and the stats do need some tweaking. I wanted to add at least the majority of guys before going back thru and adjusting the stats. I do need to adjust the entertainment value of the guys too. The backstory is a bit hard to nail and I'm certainly open to suggestions on this. I kind of went into it with the thought that all these guys and feds were very much under the radar. I think there needs to be a suspension of disbelief a little for it to work, although I do know exactly where you are coming from on this. I'm just hesitant to touch the actual CVerse stuff because I think it could turn some people off the mod. It might be something I do if there is enough support/ideas on how to do it. Thanks for trying it out though, very much appreciated!

With the way new promotions pop up in the US all the time ( three new ones in my area in the last 6 months) I don't think you need to add too much of a backstory to this upgrade. I mean when you think about it, how many promotions in the world have a backstory bigger then "Hey I got money, I buy ring, I show wrestling!" I love the new pics and am already dying to add a few of thjese workers to my DAVE game. Just gotta take the time to transfer from one PC to the other. Some of them would have crossed paths with the SWF, TCW, DAVE etc. and the workers in those feds. But yeah its not a big deal as the "flying under the radar" works for me.

I recieved a PM from Jaded about how to connect the EffVerse and CVerse together more/better. I think they are some great ideas and if this is the kind of thing you all would prefer then I am all for it. [QUOTE=Jaded]Hey, Firstly - great job on the Eff Verse expansion! He then returned and started to climb the ranks in DAVE, but suffered a back/neck injury in late 2003 after a brutal powerbomb through a stack of tables from Hell's Bouncer, who was trying out for the fed in his first match. Phil Vibert compensated him with a place on the booking team, and Kylo now believes he has enough experience to go it alone as an owner. (Possible relationship - Strong friendship with Phil Vibert. Also maybe change him to work UK?) Eriq Mobely - Eriq Mobely was a decent independent worker, who will be remembered by many for an excellent feud with Fox Mask in CZCW which had both men drawing attention from the bigger American feds, until a PPV match between the two saw Mobely legitimately injure his leg with an attempted legdrop from the top of the ladder missed badly. He continued in both CZCW and NYCW as a manager, before joining Elite Wrestling as head booker when his friend and mentor Kylo set it up. (Relationship - strong friendship with Fox Mask? Or even dislike, if you wanted to say he blamed Fox Mask for the injury.) Jason Caine - At just 21, Caine is making a name for himself across America as one of the hottest rising stars in the country, with good high flying skills and technical skills that are always improving. He's wrestled several matches for PWX and CZCW, but is now expected to be one of the focal points for Elite, the company set up by his mentor Kylo. Saul Goodman - This large half Jewish, half Samoan wrestler is a solid worker, who trained for two years at Pete Hall's Piledriver Academy. With toned skills in both brawling and technical based wrestling Saul is posed for some success. His willingness to travel where ever he is wanted will also help his career.[/QUOTE]

He is currently working on some nice edits to the data and doing a tremendous job connecting the new stuff to the original CVerse stuff. After a few talks with Jade we are revamping the EffVerse. Instead of it being an expansion or add on it will be much much more. Here is a little snippet of things to expect in the newly remodelled EffVerse. [QUOTE]On the 31st March 2007, it looked like the UK wrestling scene was just about recovering from Jeff Nova's takeover of 21CW, and the resulting explosion in the fed's popularity, leading to massive talent raids on ROF and MOSC. On the 1st April, something happened which made the previous year seem like a walk in the park. Nigel Hornsby, the media tycoon and Solihull Wanderers chairman, announced his entry into the wrestling business with Innovation Wrestling Inc. Many people assumed it was an April Fools' joke, and looking back, this may well have been his intention. By the time Nova realised that Hornsby was serious, the newspaper owner had stolen more than half a dozen of his top stars, including Joss Thompson, Daniel Black Francis, and Adam Matravers, who he was starting to build the company around. The world watched to see Nova's response - and it was predictable. He once again swooped to bring in talent from MOSC and ROF, grabbing guys like Johnny Highspot, Billy Robinson, and the Monkey Business tag team. They were hardly in the league of those who'd left, but they still caused the two smaller feds problems in replacing them. By mid-April, Hornsby was being interviewed in his own newspapers as to his plans for the federation. And within a few lines of the piece starting, he was stirring the pot, claiming to be very interested in bringing Robinson into IWI. Speculation grew that the UK scene would deteriorate into a vicious circle, with Hornsby continually taking Nova's talent, and Nova continually taking that of the other two feds. It was British Samurai, owner and booker of ROF, who realised things couldn't go on. He spent a week persuading Greg McPeterson, the Highland Warrior, that peace talks were needed between them and Nova. Depsite his dislike of the 21CW owner, McPeterson finally agreed to meet with the other two. At the meeting, Samurai outlined his plan. ROF would become a feeder fed for 21CW, training the guys who weren't yet ready for TV. In return, Nova would provide a cash injection. McPeterson grunted, asking where the hell MOSC fitted into this... And smiling, Samurai introduced a fourth man, Shawn Gonzalez. The DAVE star explained that he'd been approached by a consortium of businessmen looking to start a new fed based in Paris, France, and he was very interested in working closely with UK feds to bring in the best talent from across the Channel. Samurai suggested to McPeterson that MOSC become a feeder fed for Shawn's new European promotion, and came extremely close to getting knocked out as the Highland Warrior vehemently explained just what he thought of the idea. Calming down, however, he did agree to sign a pact with the other 3 men, saying that they would share workers with each other - and that they would stand up to Hornsby. A quick phonecall to one of the newspaper man's many rivals in the media, and publicity was assured. "WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED!" screamed the headlines. "YOU CAN TAKE OUR TALENT, BUT YOU'LL NEVER TAKE OUR SPIRIT." The alliance of four federations was painted as a valiant group of underdogs, who Hornsby was trying to crush without a thought for them or their fans. When Hornsby read the stories, he smiled grimly, and picked up his phone. "Luis? Yes... I think I've changed my mind about the offer you made me."[/QUOTE]

Jaded is currently away from the net for a few days but is still working on all the updates to bios and what have you. I've not had communication with him so I can't say for sure what's been updated. Things are progressing nicely it seems. Soon I'll update the original post with the new UK promotion as well as some more backstory posts like the UK one a few posts up. I will divulge this bit of information, this mod will have a start date of January 2008 and thus we are going to edit some C-Verse data to reflect a years worth of changes. Jaded has been doing some awesome work in melting the 2 worlds together almost seemlessly and I think his hard work will pay off in the form of a really cool mod (at least that's what we're hoping for). So yeah, probably won't be too long now as other than the tweaks to the data itself and some tidbits here and there, title lineage and title belts are the last of the stuff (as usual). I've been working on reworking my titles to look more like the trypio style, so we'll se how that works. That's all for now kids, catch ya later.

However if you ever get bored and someone holds a gun to your head and says "play the EffVerse beta or die" then I say give the beta a shot. We are definitely interested in suggestions, ideas, alterations, or just about anything else that anyone has to offer. I would love some more fan input/suggestions so that the mod can be more entertaining. Thanks for the support though and keep a look out for the full version.

It's alive! IT'S ALIVE! That's right, the EffVerse is still alive and well. There has been a lot of work going on for it very quietly. When the game gets released I'll add a year in review for 2007 (game starts in 2008) to catch everyone up on the year that was. Some crazy things, some worlds turned upside down, huge roster moves, and general awesomeness. Other than a few tweaks to the data here and there, all that is left to be done is title histories (which if anyone is interested in doing, let me know). There have been over 200 workers added to the C-Verse, a handful of feds, a future promotion or two, and a couple of future workers. It's all finally coming to a close and I am really excited about it. Like I said, all that is really left is the title histories. I don't have an estimated release date as I don't know how long the history is going to take. Anyhoo, get excited if you want and hopefully you will end up finding this mod to your liking.
