What a first half peformance by Man Utd, I havn't seen them play like that since '99! I have been critical of this United side in the past but for all his faults Ronaldo is quality and when he's on song he's unplayable. I can't wait for the second 45 minutes! I'd love to see an English team pick up the champions league trophy this year!

Man Utd 7 - Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrroma 1 Smiling? Me? Bit of an understatement!!! :D To anyone who says football (sorry, "soccer") is boring, they should watch games like the one tonight! Man Utd showed why football is known as "the beautiful game". Pace, passion, one touch passes aplenty, blink and you'll miss the goals. Fantastic. :) I'm so happy that Smithy got a goal. To come back on his first full game and score a goal after that horrific injury is a testament to how passionate he is for the game. I think this has been a great season for English football in general. To have three English teams in the European Semi-Finals (Liverpool are almost certain to get through) is phenomenal and I think it shows that we have one of the best, if not THE best, football leagues in the world. (although I was hoping Chelsea would lose :p)

for me it would be the equivilant of Mick Foley somehow being cloned and made 20 years younger and going over 'taker at wrestlemania to begin a 25 year reign as WWE champion. That actually sounds like something the WWE would use! :D

But if I were a Man U fan I'd find this a great match as well :)
Liverpool vs Man Utd final would be awesome! On an excitement level for me that'd be the equivalent of The Rock coming back and facing Undertaker at Wrestlemania. :D
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see the game, but it would just further illustrate what a complete farce the European Cup is these days if that was indeed the final.

The Jets actually are pretty good. They did well last year and are only getting better. But with English Football the only team I really know is Man. United (The New York Yankees Network used to air their games) and I kind of like them, they seem to be the Yankees of Soccer.

But I know what you're saying and I actually agree with you, but i'm a Utd fan so had to be pleased about this one. :D I think the best game in recent years that sums up the phrase, "the beautiful game", would have to be the European final when Liverpool made their stunning comeback. The passion showed by the side was breathtaking - injured players being bandaged and taped up, refusing to give up.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see the game, but it would just further illustrate what a complete farce the European Cup is these days if that was indeed the final.
How would it be a farce? You have to beat teams to get to the final, you can't get there by sheer luck.

It was getting boring sitting at the top of the league aswell as being ahead on points so we let Portsmouth get a win because they needed it more than us. ;) Anyway, losing 2-1 and with one of Portsmouth's goals being an own goal from Rio Ferdinand is hardly "kicking butt", a 7-1 scoreline is kicking butt!! :D

What a game. I wa sso pleased after the incidents at the first leg (sending off, riots, etc) that Man U just ripped them apart on footballing ability alone. Fletcher was surprinsingly amazing and Ronaldo is a different class. What a performance. Made me proud to be English. And to think... Southend beat Man U in November... what a year it's been for me... :D

There'll always be a bit of gloating by fans who are winning but there was no need for the Roma fans to rile the Utd fans like they did, and certainly no need for the police brutality that was inflicted.
Fletcher was surprinsingly amazing and Ronaldo is a different class.
Fletcher and Carrick are both unsung heroes in my book, they never seem to do much but they obviously do their job well otherwise we wouldn't be where we currently are. Shame Carrick's header was saved, i'd have loved for him to have got a hat-trick. As much as I dislike Ronaldo I can't really fault him this season, he's been playing magnificently. Still think he's too selfish with the ball at times though.
And to think... Southend beat Man U in November... what a year it's been for me... :D
*slap* ;)
Fletcher and Carrick are both unsung heroes in my book
Personally, I think Carrick is the biggest waste of 18 million this side of Schevchenko's horror of season (and that was 30 :D!). I have close friends who support both sides, so, I went in absoloutely neutral but, man, by the end, I had to be cheering on Utd. That was class! Quote The Raven Nevermore

He's not a goal scorer (usually! :D) and he's not a flashy player or a wonderkid so his name doesn't crop up that often, but what he does, he does well. I was the first to be in uproar that we were spending £18million on him, I thought £10million would've been pushing it, but he's convinced me (as has Fletcher) that he should be in the starting lineup. I was never a fan of Fletcher either: slow, truly awful first touch, couldn't pass.... the phrase "headless chicken" came to mind. I don't know exactly when or why it all changed but he suddenly went through a phase of being everywhere the ball was, he was like a man possessed. Little chips, back heelers and all manner of good stuff I wasn't expecting from him and general solid play. Then when he scored a header against Chelsea for a 1-0 victory, I wouldn't hear a bad word said about him. :D

An interesting point raised elsewhere is that, potentially, the end of the season could see Man U-Chelsea playing three times with the Premiership, FA Cup and European Cup at stake... Obviously there's a few matches between here and there, but it would be a fascinating trio of matches.
