AfRoMaN36 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Working last night. Got RAW taped for you guys and luckily, I dont work until saturday. But enough about me, because last nights RAW came straight from Milian, Italy! The fashion capitol of the world! And it seems like whenever the WWE goes out of the states, their is an electricity in the air that cannot be denied. Is theis RAW any diffrent? Lets find out.... The Good: First and formost, the fans! This was byfar, the greatest audience the workers have performed in front of in a very long time. They were seemingly passionate about everything and has a nice soccer "football" chant about everything. They ate everything up. The good and the boring. And it seem like a nice guesture from the E to give these long time international fans a treat and it seems like it didnt go unapriciated. Second, I did like how their was more wrestling than normal tonight. Not all of the matches were worth writing home about, but they got the points accross. The list of good things does however.... end their. The Bad: I'll go in order.... Vince has gotten stale. Their, someone needs to say that. Hes gone stale. Despite getting massive heat behind him in Italy, he strikes out again on the mic for the third week in a row. Does this man seriously need to talk for 20 minutes each night...? Three strikes and you're out.... atleast, when you're not the owner of the company. And the ONE week the card could've used Bobby Lashley, he didnt wrestle. This card was weak. Maybe its because a few of the workers didnt make the trip, but when Chris Masters wrestles just before the main event, the card is weak. You could have easily burned a few minutes with a Lashley match, or an HBK match, but two of the men who got the big pops tonight didnt even get in the ring. And whats up with the IC title being given to a fan...!?!? This doesnt make any sense whatsoever. It got a huge pop, which was the only positive their. But why not only cheapen the second most prestigious title on the brand while cheapening the momentum of tha man you've been pushing to the moon with that title? I'm almost certain this particular subject will be the topic of discussion for you guys, so I'll leave it at this. Overall: A very, very average show with a very very good crowd. In fact, they saved the show from getting a worse score. But they truly deserved better. This was truly the first show since doing these threads that I've actually zoned out mid show. Rating: **1/2 Biggest Pops: 1. HBK 2. That Fan Who Beat Umaga 3. Maria Best Heat: 1. John Cena 2. Vince McMahon 3. Coachman My Two Cents: *What a shock.... Italy doesnt like Cena either.... * That puts him safley between Osama Bin Laden and Geroge Bush in the list of "Worlds Most Hated Men." * Who was dissapointed with that fashion show? * Who was expecting a decorated bikini contest? * And who was dissapointed when that wasnt the case? * And does it make any sense to make Torrie Wilson the winner when Maria got the same pop? *Did anyone forget that Maria is ITALIAN!!!!?!?!?! *Who else thought that Italian announcer was just Tazz in disguise? * I wouldn't blame him when I see the show HE has to announce. * 5 bucks says Italy will get an extreme rules match tomorrow. * Im sure if cheers could be heard on a video package, the fans wouldve poped huge when they heard Khali was gunna instead wrestle next week. * And man, were the Italians eating this up! * I mean if it werent for the less than clever signs, I'd want a show to be held their every week. * Next Stop, London. Make sure you leave your own feedback of RAW.
Wallbanger Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 It would have been nice to have Lashley and HBK in actual matches rather than just run-ins. One thing about Lashley's run in, though; as he was holding that chair, sizing Umaga up, for the first time, I saw genuine menace in his eyes. For that brief moment, I could actually imagine a deeper, more complex, more compelling character in Lashley. It's a small step in a long journey, but it was encouraging to see -- I want to see him succeed.
Guest cmdrsam Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Why does it feel like WCW with David Arquette again with the IC belt. To me they just trashed that belt and it has no worth now.
dvdWarrior Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Sure, it wasn't the best show ever, but it was entertaining enugh for me. With the divas thing, I think Maria actually got the biggest pop and should have won the thing. And that fan was an OVW talent making his WWE debut, so I'm willing to give The E the benefit of the doubt on that one. I'm sure they were just trying to make his debut as meaningful as possible. Besides, he couldn't have upended Umaga without Lashley's help, so I don't think the fan's win was as big of an oops as the David Arquette thing. Oh, and Johnny Nitro stole one of my guy's finishers, (from my TEW games), but I'm willing to let that slide this one time. :)

But I just dont want him to stray too far from the gentle giant gimmick and be another generic attitude problem. MightyDavidson Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I had a feeling he might have been an OVW guy.... lets just hope this doesnt come with any fan backlash.
With an introduction like that, I'd say it's almost guaranteed, though I hope I'm wrong. I've read on some sites that he's an OVW guy, the same OVW guy in fact that got slapped by Jim Cornette for being a bad audience plant.
NickC13573 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Ya the fan thing was just to introduce an OVW character into the Raw locker room. My question is, arent OVW and DSW guys suppose to debut on Smackdown?
dvdWarrior Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 To be honest, I'm surprised that I'm not that upset about the IC title fluke. It's just the kind of thing I would've ranted against with all my might in years gone by. I don't know what it is, maybe I've just mellowed out a bit in my old age.
AfRoMaN36 Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I just think we were softened by the huge crowd ovation.

shamelessposer Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007
you think that WWE giving the INTERcontinental title to someone with INTERNATIONAL Flavor, was a fluke?
When "Intercontinental" means "North and South America"? Yes. :D
NickC13573 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 oh, I guess thats why they had the European title as well :(
jagilki Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Ah, but doesn't "Intercontinental" mean two or more continents?
djthefunkchris Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007
oh, I guess thats why they had the European title as well :(
Maybe, but they don't have that belt active right now, and to be honest, I like that guy. I personally think we are seeing the start of the promotion expansion thing. I look forward to seeing more "foreign" star's debuting on raw. Besides, that guy went over like gangbuster's... It was something everyone WANTED To happen. Not something that we were like "Oh NO!!! UMAGA LOST THE IC BELT!!" My two cents, it was a fun show, and it brought a tear to my eye when he won... They got me on it. I was happy as heck he won. PS:-------------------GO ITALY!!!!
panix04 Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I was really happy that Umaga coughed up the IC belt, its always difficult when the belt is on somebody who has been pushed as unstoppable. But this way, the IC belt has potential to move on to anybody the WWE wants and i furthers the feud between Lashley and Umaga, good booking in my estimation. Admitedly as soon as the fella took his shirt off it was pretty obvious he was a wrestler, but i still thought it was nice to see a bit of a swerve in the usually formulaic booking, imho the 'E needs to suprise the audince more often. Back on the subject of Lashley Vs Umaga, perhaps i am being a bit wierd here, but is it beggining to actually get a little bit interesting to anyone else?
djthefunkchris Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I'm especially looking forward to tonights Raw. I actually have more interest in the Umaga vs. Lashley thing right now, then I do anyone else on Raw's roster (which is kind of weird at the same time, since Lashley is ECW). I'm hoping for a sort of "ECW" vs. "RAW" thing coming in the future. Smackdown needs to keep that Undertaker/Batista/Finlay/Kennedy/Kane, etc.. up. It would be nice to see Kennedy and Finlay go against the BOD, and a huge and out of controll Smackdown with Batista coming out on top of the pile. I'm actually starting to like Batista again.
