[CENTER][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MAW-1.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Ten Things I Hate About You Friday, Week 3, October 2011 – 2,000 sell-out at North Carolina Biker Museum[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/YvonneWright.jpg[/IMG][U]Yvonne Wright vs. Agent 69[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/Agent69_alt.jpg[/IMG] Agent 69 started well in MAW, but limited appearances took her off the boil slightly. Now, with a less cluttered midcard, she has the freedom to shine again, as she did in this match. She’s evolved her character slightly, and has gone from stereotypically goofy Soviet spy to a more seductive agent, which works even better with the men in the audience. Anyway, the match was pretty good, as both women have the basics down fairly well. Agent was in control for much of the contest, but Wright came back with a series of wear-down moves that left the Russian spy struggling, until she was able to hit a Soviet Strike for the win [B](D)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/KikoSakakibara_alt1.jpg[/IMG][U]Kiko Sakakibara vs. Saeko Hiroyuki[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SaekoHiroyuki.jpg[/IMG] Occasionally we like to throw a couple of joshi workers out there to give fans a taste of what it was like when 5SSW was anything other than the name on the belt we bought off Crusher Ichihara. Sadly, most of the big names are retired, leaving us with these young midcarders to show off what could one day have been a main event in Kyoto or Kobe... Anyway, Hiroyuki took the win in a great match with the always impressive Hiroyuki Bomb [B](C-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/TracyBrendon.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Purple"]“Finally I get to face one of the big cats here in MAW. I’m undefeated – three for three! I can’t wait to face Assassin here. If I beat her, I’ll prove that I can handle myself, and while I wouldn’t presume to challenge Alica for the title, if someone does ever beat her, then I want to be hot on their heels” [/COLOR][B](D-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/TracyBrendon.jpg[/IMG][U]Tracy Brendon vs. Dragon Assassin[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/DragonAssassin.jpg[/IMG] Whereas Dragon Assassin could look comfortable in the men’s division, Brendon pretty much gets by on a combination of charisma and some talent. It made for an entertaining mismatch, as Assassin outclassed Brendon, who had the crowd firmly behind her as she underdogged her way through the match, prior to eating a Blade Of The Assasin as Assassin reasserted her dominance over the women’s division [B](C+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/WandaFish.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Red"]“I have no problem with Sara Marie York. She’s never stood in my way, or tried to hold me back. So what I’m about to do to her is nothing personal. It’s just another step on the road to showing that I’m not to be messed with. And I think that the best way to prove that has to be to take the MAW Women’s Title” [/COLOR][B](D-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SaraMarieYork.jpg[/IMG][U]Sara Marie York vs. Wanda Fish[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/WandaFish.jpg[/IMG] Sara Marie has settled into her role of designated loser to anyone who needs a push. So long as she’s wrestling, she’s happy, unlike certain other workers who she might or might not be matched against tonight... Fish continued her improved recent form with a Blonde Ambition for the win [B](C-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/AliciaStrong_alt.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Blue"]“Everyone knows that Huntress Makiko is a dangerous wrestler – she’s learned a lot from Dragon Assassin, and with a teacher like that, you know how the pupil will turn out. I’ll take on anyone, though, and I’m not scared of her – just aware of how much she brings to the table. As for Wanda Fish, well, you heard what I said. I’ll fight anyone. But in your case, given our history, I want a good reason to let you have a shot at my belt”[/COLOR] [B](D+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/5SSWWorld.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Women’s Title[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/AliciaStrong_alt.jpg[/IMG][U]Alicia Strong (c) vs. Huntress Makiko[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/HuntressMakiko.jpg[/IMG] Strong squared off against the silent Makiko in this thrilling battle, with the often-underestimated Japanese worker taking the champion to the limit. Strong fought valiantly, and had her moments, but it was Makiko who looked the more dangerous. Strong eventually managed to squeeze out a win with a Stronghold – but it was Makiko who emerged from the match looking the stronger [B](B-) Show overall: C+[/B][/CENTER] * Rip and I beamed at each other across the desk, unable to keep our goofy expressions straight. A [I]sell-out[/I] for the Militant show? And a show [I]that[/I] good? We’d turned the corner, I felt. Rip concurred. Dropping the deadwood, holding three ‘special’ events a year, and generally trimming the fat had helped us with the money, and so long as we held our “Above Average” (copyright TEW.com) shows in the Mid Atlantic, then we could continue to expect to turn a profit. Even with the Wrestling show still to go, we’d already made as much money in October as September from ticket sales, and while we’d likely lose money before the month was out, there was still a chance, for the first time since the roster split, that we’d make money come the end of the month. * MAW Lust For Glorious Red Cell and Ultra Fly vs. Spirit Of The North Jack Bar and Silencer vs. Xavier Reckless and Reggie Bishop Canadian Blondes vs. Reggie Bishop & Sterling Whitlock Natural Storm & Steven Parker vs. Generation Next MAW Heavyweight Title Steve Flash vs. Roderick Remus vs. Frankie Perez (c) * Four from five from chris caulfield last time out - predictions and comments always welcome!

[CENTER][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MAW-1.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Lust For Glorious Friday, Week 4, October 2011 - 354 at The Asylum, MI[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RedCell.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/UltraFly.jpg[/IMG][U]Red Cell and Ultra Fly vs. Spirit Of The North[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/NigelSvennson.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/EvilSpirit.jpg[/IMG] This match existed to get SOTN on the card, and while they’re here, they might as well a) put another possible team through their paces and b) pick up a win. And they did both, getting the win over Fly with a Visitation [B](E-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JackBar.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/Silencer.jpg[/IMG][U]Jack Bar and Silencer vs. Xavier Reckless and Reggie Bishop[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/XavierReckless.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ReggieBishop.jpg[/IMG] Amazingly, the fans had more interest in this match than the previous on when voting on MAW.com. I guess it was less of an obvious outcome. Well, far be it for us to disappoint the fans – Silencer dropped Reckless with a Screams of Silence for the win in an enjoyable match that the fans sort of got into [B](E)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/OscarGolden.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FlashSavage_alt2.jpg[/IMG][U]Canadian Blondes vs. Reggie Bishop and Sterling Whitlock[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ReggieBishop.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SterlingWhitlock.jpg[/IMG] The tag team experimentation continued in match three, as the established Blondes took on the neophyte Bishop and Whitlock. The Blondes controlled the match, before putting Whitlock away with the Mapleleaf Combo [B](E+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JamesCasey.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ErikStrong.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RandyMaxx.jpg[/IMG] James Casey, Erik Strong and Max Mayhem stood in the centre of the ring: [COLOR="Blue"]“Here we stand, undefeated since joining forces. We have gold, we have glory, we damn sure have the women. All that’s left is singles glory for me – and that means that Frankie Perez, I have you in my sights. Once we put Natural Storm and Steven Parker out of their miseries, all attention turns to the main event. Frankie, I’m sure you don’t want to be in the position you found yourself in at Iron. You want a challenger sorted nice and early. So here’s the deal – you name my opponent next month, and whoever wins, faces you at Where It All Begins Again in December. No more running, big man!” [/COLOR][B](E)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/DCRayne.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/EddieHoward.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/StevenParker.jpg[/IMG][U]Natural Storm & Steven Parker vs. Generation Next [/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JamesCasey.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ErikStrong.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RandyMaxx.jpg[/IMG] The putative future of MAW seemed to struggle to live up to their billing as this match started. Parker in particular was on fire, catapulting himself around the ring, using the ropes and his teammates to blitz his opponents. Such high-impact offence is also high-risk, however, and Parker found this out to his cost when Casey ducked and sent him to the outside, over the top rope. Casey and Strong Mayhem were left to outnumber Natural Storm, and did so to the utmost of their abilities. Storm were never less than resilient, but their fighting best was just not enough to outdo the numerical superiority of their opponents. Parker tried to make his way back into the match with a splash – literally – but when he dived from the top rope, his injuries were such that Mayhem was ready for the move, easily avoided it, and watched with delight as Parker crashed into Rayne, who was easy prey for Seven Seconds Of Mayhem and the pin [B](D)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SteveFlash_alt.jpg[/IMG] As Steve Flash made his way to the ring, the commentators confirmed that Frankie Perez had accepted James Casey’s challenge. [COLOR="Red"]“James Casey seems to forget that there’s a ways left just yet before December rolls around. Casey might just find that even if he does win his match next month, he’ll have to face me afterwards. Or maybe I won’t honour that arrangement – there’s a hell of a lot more people who deserve the shot than him. I may be old-school,” Flash did the finger quotes thing, and because it’s him, we’ll forgive him, “but I believe you should earn your shot. I keep beating the people in front of me, so Frankie can never quite get rid of me. And so, once more, I get my shot at the gold”[/COLOR] [B](D)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FrankiePerez.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="DarkGreen"]“So James Casey wants a title shot. Well, I guess I can use an early night, which is what I’ll get if I tie up with him. You see, esse, you’ve done nothing to earn that shot – but I guess no-one else seems to be lining up. Am I that good that no-one dares face me? Well, maybe. And if that’s the case, it won’t matter who I face. So sure, why not – Casey, next month you can face my opponent from Iron. And if you beat Hugh de Aske, you can take me on in December”[/COLOR] [B](D)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MidAtlanticChampionship.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Heavyweight Title[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SteveFlash_alt.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RoderickRemus.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FrankiePerez.jpg[/IMG] [U]Steve Flash vs. Roderick Remus vs. Frankie Perez (c)[/U] The dynamics of this match made for interesting reading, and a match that saved the show. The young pretender in Remus, who would do anything to win the gold. The old stager in Flash, who has seen and done anything and everything one may care to think of. The fighting champion in Perez, who knows every shortcut. The mix made for an enthralling battle as, in an unusual move, all three men spent most of the match in the ring. A mixture of innovative double-team moves, escapes, and one-on-two attacks, the battle was intense, with the contestants only attempting pinfalls when the spare man was indisposed to prevent easy escapes. As good as the match was, someone had to lose, and in this case Flash was cagy enough to avoid defeat, but not enough to get the win. Pitched over the top rope by Perez, Flash was out of reach as the champion nailed Remus with Perfect Parity for the successful defence [B](C+) Show overall: C-[/B][/CENTER] * Using more workers than is strictly necessary just to boost morale? Us? Surely not... * Steven Parker has turned down a chance to work with 4C due to his loyalty to MAW. Cool! * Remmy Honeyman has inked a deal. It is likely that the technician will initially work with Steven Parker and Hugh de Aske. A possible tag team with Edward Cornell has been mooted, if Cornell were to move to the Wrestling brand. * $3,100 profit this month. Woot! * [B]MAW Shatterstar[/B] Jonnie Perez vs. Julian Watson Ernest Youngman and KC Glenn vs. Mikey James and Sayeed Ali Jared Johnson vs. Barry Kingman “Machine” Jean Cattley vs. Shingen Miyazaki [U]MAW Traditional Title[/U] Marc Speed vs. Matthew Keith (c) Predictions always welcome - Emark had 4 out of 5 last time.

[CENTER][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MAW-1.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Shatterstar Friday, Week 2, November 2011 - 718 at The Sweat Box, GA[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JonniePerez.jpg[/IMG][U]Jonnie Perez vs. Nate Johnson[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/NateJohnson.jpg[/IMG] This match gave the young Jonnie the chance to prove himself against one of the finest talents on the roster. Johnson may not so far have shown the spark necessary to propel him into the main event, but he is a gifted worker. This match was a good showcase for both men’s talents, even and finely balanced, and the younger Perez brother doing much to try and stand out from his brother’s shadow. The end came when Johnson hit a Natural Order for the pin [B](D+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ErnestYoungman.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/KCGlenn.jpg[/IMG][U]Ernest Youngman and KC Glenn vs. Mikey James and Sayeed Ali[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MikeyJames.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SayeedAli.jpg[/IMG] The evenly-matched face team were pitted against the polar opposite heel team in this next match. Ali and James were clearly on separate pages, but they were effective as they dominated their younger opponents in the early going. Some clever tandem offence brought the less experienced team back into it, and the match was more evenly contested, resulting in a very exciting match. But Ali is akin to a force of nature, and if he hasn’t been seen since Iron, was no more rusty for his rest. He blasted Glenn with a G.B.H. Driver for the win [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JaredJohnson.jpg[/IMG][U]Jared Johnson vs. Barry Kingman[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/BarryKingman.jpg[/IMG] A rare outing for Barry Kingman in this match, as two technically sound competitors took on one another. MAW fans love a good mat war, and the two didn’t disappoint. Kingman took the win with an Uncrowned Monarch [B](D)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RobLMiskovsky.jpg[/IMG] Rob Miskovksy climbed into the ring and congratulated Kingman. [COLOR="Blue"]“I know that our fans love nothing more than seeing two guys put on a technical masterclass. So I’ve been giving a lot of thought to our exhibition matches at Where It All Begins Again in December. And one of those matches will feature this man here, Barry Kingman, in action against Shane Nelson!”[/COLOR] [B](D-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MeanJeanCattley.jpg[/IMG][U]“Machine” Jean Cattley vs. “Trademark” Thomas Morgan[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ThomasMorgan.jpg[/IMG] A tour-de-force technical bout between two masters of the art. The two men were very evenly matched, and left nothing back as they sought to establish dominance. So intent were they on victory that neither man noticed the time running down, and when the bell rang to mark the time-limit draw, both men looked surprised [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RobLMiskovsky.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Blue"]“In the spirit of my earlier announcement, I’d like to take this opportunity to confirm that in December, these two men will fight once more, and this time there’ll be a winner – because there’ll be no time limit. And because he’s been on the phone since we announced tonight’s show, demanding to know why I haven’t booked him for tonight... They’ll be joined by Shingen Miyazaki in a Three Way Dance!”[/COLOR] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MarcSpeed.jpg[/IMG] Marc Speed came down to the ring. [COLOR="Red"]“My first shot at singles gold here in MAW in far too long – not that I’m complaining. We’ve got a lot of talent in this company, and I’d be embarrassing myself to put myself at the head of the queue all the time. But here we are, and Matthew Keith, I can’t help but imagine you’ve got some sly trick up your sleeve. So before we start tonight, I want your word that you’re not going to resort to cheating me out of a win tonight. If you do, then I think you ought to start repaying all the people you’ve cheated, including your own bro-“[/COLOR] [B](E+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MatthewGauge.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Indigo"]“Hey, shut your hole! You’re calling me a cheat? All of a sudden, being smart enough to use the means at my disposal makes me a cheat? The world is in serious trouble if that’s the case. You’ve clearly got a lot to learn about being a champion, but that’s okay, because you’re not going to have to start tonight!”[/COLOR] [B](D-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RobLMiskovsky.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Blue"]“Maybe, maybe not. But Marc gave me an idea. You see, I don’t want us to turn into that other brand, with their Generation Next running around like they own the joint. But I can’t help but feel you’re going the same way, with Antonio falling in with you and Miyazaki. So I’ll balance you out – if you win tonight, you’ll be facing your brother next month. But in the spirit of balance, the same applies to Marc. Whoever ends tonight as Traditional champion will face Greg Keith at Where It All Begins Again - and just to make sure everything’s fair and square... If you win, Matthew, you’ll be defending against your brother inside a fifteen-foot steel cage!” [/COLOR][B](E)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MidAtlanticChampionship.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Traditional Title[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MarcSpeed.jpg[/IMG][U]Marc Speed vs. Matthew Keith (c)[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MatthewGauge.jpg[/IMG] After the evening’s technical stylings, it seemed inevitable that the finale would degenerate into an all-out brawl, and when a the ref got bumped early on, it was the cue for Antonio and Cattley to interrupt proceedings, with the four men pairing off and trading hard shots, culminating in a double-reversal on an Irish whip from the corners that sent Keith and Antonio crashing into each other, to the crowd’s approval. The referee restored order on his return to the land of the living, sending Antonio and Cattley to the outside, where they glowered at one another. Speed and Keith once more began battering each other down, rarely resorting to holds or techniques more complicated than a suplex or corner splash. Keith seemed to have the better of it, but Speed from nowhere was able to trap his opponent in a High Speed Crossface. Keith faded quickly in the hold, and seemed on the verge of submission, but Antonio seized his trailing leg and draped it over the bottom rope, before calling the referee’s attention to it. Cattley leapt into the ring and dived at Antonio, who just had time to slide the Traditional title to Keith as the referee dealt with the disturbance. Keith put the belt to ill use, clocking Speed in the face with it, and when the referee returned to his duties, was once more able to gain a cheap victory – although one that guaranteed his facing his brother once more [B](C+) Show overall: C [/B][/CENTER] * [B]MAW Night Comes Early[/B] Tracy Brendon vs. Tsuki Kawamata Umeko Karube vs. “Amazing” Grace Harper Yuma Maruya vs. Wanda Fish Joanne Rodriguez vs. Dragon Assassin [U]MAW Women’s Title[/U] Alicia Strong vs. Saeko Hiroyuki vs. Stephanie Wade All predictions welcome - 3 from 5 for Emark this time

[CENTER][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MAW-1.jpg[/IMG] [B]MAW Night Comes Early Friday, Week 3, November 2011 - 765 at The Asylum, MI[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/TracyBrendon.jpg[/IMG][U]Tracy Brendon vs. Tsuki Kawamata[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/TsukiKawamata.jpg[/IMG] This was a tight and evenly contested battle between two fine workers. The increasingly impressive Brendon took the win with an Idaho Crunch [B](D+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/UmekoKarube.jpg[/IMG][U]Umeko Karube vs. “Amazing” Grace Harper[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/GraceHarper.jpg[/IMG] Harper has been unusually quiet of late, and Marv Earnest and Rip Chord on commentary speculated about what she might be up to. In this match, she showed that inaction hadn’t slowed her down too much, as she scored the victory with a Harper’s Bizarre [B](D+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/YumaMaruya.jpg[/IMG][U]Yuma Maruya vs. Wanda Fish[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/WandaFish.jpg[/IMG] Wanda Fish tore into her opponent from the off, seemingly eager to prove her argument that on her own, no-one can stand toe-to-toe with her and win. Maruya was outmatched and outgunned, and succumbed to a Blonde Ambition after a spirited but ultimately futile fight [B](C)[/B] Fish snatched the mic: [COLOR="Orange"]“Marv Earnest, I know you’ve had problems with me, but you know that I’m in the best form of any potential challenger for the Women’s title. If you don’t put me in the match next month, I’ll just have to continue beating everyone you put in the ring with me, and I’ll keep getting nastier until you’re paying health insurance and sick pay for everyone on the roster. Including yourself!”[/COLOR] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MarvEarnest.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Blue"]“Nothing could make me happier than seeing you put this company on the sick list, Wanda – that’s why I’ve been content to let you get on with business these last few months. You don’t think that I didn’t have a plan? Having you mauled by Sayeed Ali has made you stronger, more vicious, more ruthless. In short, exactly the sort of champion I want as the public face of this brand. You’ve got your match – and in a month’s time, you’ll surely be the champion!”[/COLOR] [B](E+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JoanneRodriguez.jpg[/IMG][U]Joanne Rodriguez vs. Dragon Assassin[/U][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/DragonAssassin.jpg[/IMG] Two of the top competitors tore into one another from the off, their evenly matched offence ensuring a close and enjoyable battle. Assassin took the lead with a boot to the gut, before ripping a cover from a turnbuckle and sending Rodriguez into it. As J-Ro staggered out, she was caught with a Blade Of The Assassin for the easy win [B](C-)[/B] After the bell, J-Ro protested to the ref, but Marv Earnest was quick on the mic: [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MarvEarnest.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Blue"]“J-Ro, shut up. You make me sick – always going on about playing nice, and being friends, and all that garbage. Where’s your fire, woman? Next month, you’re going to learn about how to be a success in this business, by facing the Queen of sneakiness, Agent 69!”[/COLOR] (E) [COLOR="Blue"]“And Assassin, congratulations on your win. You’ve always had a special place in my heart. I’ve long admired the way you love inflicting pain on your opponents. Next month, you’ll have two of them – Tracy Brendon, and Sara Marie York. You’ll be teaming with Huntress Makiko, and which ever team wins earns themselves the right to two singles matches against the Women’s champion!” [/COLOR](E) [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/AliciaStrong_alt.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Red"]“So, Wanda got her wish. Assuming that I win tonight, I’ll look forward to facing her. I’ve beaten her before, and I don’t care how ruthless or heartless or dateless she gets – I can do it again. As for Stephanie Wade and Saeko Hiroyuki... All I can say is that it’s flattering that Marv thinks he can beat me by setting me against two other competitors. As Strong yelled at her future opponent, Hiroyuki took the opportunity to roll her up, but Wade dived into the cover as well. The referee refused to make the count, as both women couldn’t win the match, and while Wade argued, Hiroyuki was wrapped up in a Stronghold, and tapped before Wade had the chance to realise what was going on [B](C-) Show overall: C-[/B][/CENTER] * [B]MAW Remember November[/B] Jack Bar and Ultra Fly vs. Tiger Fuyuki and Reggie Bishop Eddie Howard vs. Amazing Fire Fly vs. Roderick Remus vs. Joss Thompson MAW Tag Team Titles Steve Flash and Steven Parker vs. Strong Mayhem Hugh de Aske vs. James Casey [U]MAW Heavyweight Title[/U] DC Rayne vs. Frankie Perez (c) [I]OOC: Busy, busy, busy... I'll post them in the next day or two. In the game, I've switched over to [URL="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25269"]Remianen's[/URL] well-researched product, and with a couple of other tweaks I would imagine MAW would begin to grow quickly pretty soon. I'm considering doing a 2012 diary, so if people would be interested, let me know. (And yes, I know, if it's well written, people will read it - but still... I have as sensitive an ego as any other writer :p[/I]

[B][CENTER]MAW Remember November Friday, Week 4, November 2011 - 1,128 at North Carolina Biker Museum[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JackBar.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/UltraFly.jpg[/IMG]Jack Bar and Ultra Fly vs. Tiger Fuyuki and Reggie Bishop[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/TigerFuyuki.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ReggieBishop.jpg[/IMG] Test, test, test... No chemistry here, as I begin to wonder if we’re ever going to find anything. All we have is a couple of cases of bad chemistry. Anyway, Bar pinned Bishop with a 24-Hour Assault for the win [B](E+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/EddieHoward.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/AmazingFireFly.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RoderickRemus.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JoseThompson.jpg[/IMG] Eddie Howard vs. Amazing Fire Fly vs. Roderick Remus vs. Joss Thompson This match went through more incarnations than most as we booked the card, and could easily have been two singles matches. Still, here we are, as a brawler, two high-flyers and a technician put forward a decent effort that didn’t overshadow anyone else. Remus took the win with a Remus Clutch on Howard [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MidAtlanticTagTeam.jpg[/IMG] [U]MAW Tag Team Titles[/U] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SteveFlash_alt.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/StevenParker.jpg[/IMG]Steve Flash and Steven Parker vs. Strong Mayhem[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ErikStrong.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RandyMaxx.jpg[/IMG] Strong Mayhem will have benefited significantly from being in the ring with two seasoned workers like Parker and Flash, who in turn seemed to thoroughly enjoy teaming. Hmmm... The match seesawed back and forth, with the veterans selling for twenty for the champs, who in turn begged off whenever their challengers got some momentum going. Mayhem took the win with a particularly innovative bit of cheating – caught with a chair in hand by the ref, Erik Strong threw it to his partner, who tried to throw it back, only for it to be caught by Parker, and with everyone distracted, Strong caught Flash in the back of the head with a title belt, and scored the pin [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JamesCasey.jpg[/IMG] “At long last, I get to prove myself, as my colleagues have done. It seems like there’s a rule that I only get one shot at the gold a year – and I’ve had to wait almost until the last day of this year to get this one. I don’t plan on screwing things up. Frankie, I know you’re listening. You had your chance, amigo, to line up alongside me. Frankly, I was being generous. I thought you had potential. But you turned me down, you big prat. Well, when I take your title, your pride and your reason for getting up each morning, all in one clean sweep, you can’t say that you weren’t warned” [B](D)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/HughdeAske_alt1.jpg[/IMG]Hugh de Aske vs. James Casey[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JamesCasey.jpg[/IMG] Casey’s big mouth seemed to have landed him in trouble in the early going as MAW’s own pirate king launched a series of attacks that left Casey groggy and seemingly out on his feet. Pitched over the top rope, Casey sent the commentators flying as he crash landed on their table. It all seemed bleak for the leader of Gen Next, but as he was dragged back into the ring, he managed to seize de Aske’s tights for a surprise roll up for two. Lashing out on instinct as de Aske got to his feet, Casey caught him between the eyes with a boot that knocked him giddy, and allowed Casey to mount a period of sustained offence that levelled things between them, and left de Aske ripe for a Somersault DDT as Casey booked his place in the title match [B](C+) [/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FrankiePerez.jpg[/IMG] “Congratulations, mi amigo Casey. You did what you said you would, and won a shot at me in four weeks time. I’m pleased – truly. There are those who’ve been saying you’re good enough to beat me, and I don’t like that kind of talk. You see, I’m a proud man. Too proud to be your lackey – not when I hold the most valuable title this company has to offer. So next month, in this very arena, I’ll be the one standing when the match ends. I’ll still have my belt, and you’ll be shown up for the braggadocio everyone knows you really are” [B](D+)[/B] MAW Heavyweight Title [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/DCRayne.jpg[/IMG]DC Rayne vs. Frankie Perez (c)[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FrankiePerez.jpg[/IMG] DC Rayne did his best, but under no circumstances was anyone buying him as a legitimate threat to the Heavyweight belt this month. The former champion fought hard, and at some points seemed to have the holder in trouble, but Perez came back strong, and put his challenger away with a P-Clutch for the submission win and the successful defence [B](C+) Show overall: C[/B][/CENTER] * $8,000 dollar loss last month – how on earth did that happen? * “It’s been five years since you walked in here, kid, do you remember?” “How could I forget, Rip? Now this place is like home to me. You, and Jean, and everyone else who’s been around for a while are like family. Even some of the newer guys...” “Think you’ve got another five years in you?” “No problems on my end – although it might be time to hang up the boots by then. What about you?” “Oh, five years is a long time. I think I might be able to make it, though,” he added, with a swig of Coke Zero. “Here’s to five years, then,” I said, raising my own mug, which had real Coke in it. “To five years, kid – and no more eight grand losses, huh?” “We’ll see, Rip. We’ll see...” * [QUOTE][CENTER][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RipChord.jpg[/IMG] [B]Chord Chat[/B] It’s that time again, as we here at MAW call time on another year of tremendous action. I’d like to thank all our fans for joining us, week in, week out as we took a big risk in trebling the number of shows we presented. It’s been hard work, and we haven’t always got everything right, but spreading into new areas and making new friends has been worth it. Before 2011 makes way for 2012, though, we have a full night of action ahead of us as we throw one of our thrice-yearly parties for our three brands. Which makes it time to run down... [B]MAW Where It All Begins Again[/B] Amazing Fire Fly vs. Roderick Remus Fly has been one of the big success stories of 2011 here in MAW. Always a tenacious competitor, he’s shown that he can hang with the very best in narrow losses to Frankie Perez. As he hones his skills in Mexico, too, we expect to see great things from young Fly. Remus, meanwhile, has been off plying his trade outside of our ring, and has returned to MAW determined to show why he’s considered one of North America’s up and coming stars. Sara Marie York and Tracy Brendon vs. Dragon Assassin and Huntress Makiko Marv Earnest has always kept the Militant brand interesting, even if I don’t always agree with how he goes about things. Case in point: The winners of this match will become the joint number one contenders to the Women’s title, whoever ends up with it at the end of the night. How can you have joint number one contenders? Well, Marv may be able to explain it, but I’ve given up on getting a logical answer from the man... Shane Nelson vs. Barry Kingman Shane Nelson has come on leaps and bounds since his debut here in MAW, and the weekly postbag seems to have an awful lot of perfumed envelopes with his name on. Barry Kingman, meanwhile, is steady and unshakable. This Assault presentation is your chance to see the tortoise vs. the hare, then – and your old friend Rip is banking on a fine performance from both men. Joanne Rodriguez vs. Agent 69 Old Rip grew up keeping a wary eye for commies, and if that proved to be nothing more than scaremongering by the jackasses up in DC, well, no-one told Agent 69. In her biggest match to date, she takes on the always dangerous Joanne Rodriguez, who seems to have lost some steam since her loss to Alicia Strong at Iron. Still, I won’t count out J-Ro just yet – she might just pull out a victory in the name of freedom and democracy yet... Steve Flash vs. Joss Thompson Joss Thompson has been... unlucky since his debut. So he’s decided to challenge Steve Flash to a match. Interesting choice, certainly. Flash has seen everything and done near enough everything too, and is hardly likely to fall victim to an upset. Still, Joss has the skills... We’ll have to see how it goes. [U]MAW Tag Team Titles[/U] Canadian Blondes vs. Natural Storm vs. Strong Mayhem (c) Sometimes it seems like these three teams have been fighting for ever. Storm and the Blondes clashed on our very first show, and Strong and Mayhem have been doing the rounds for almost as long. They always produce the goods, however, and this should be another entry in their list of fine matches. Three Way Dance “Machine” Jean Cattley vs. “Trademark” Thomas Morgan vs. Shingen Miyazaki Three outstanding talents, each with their own agenda. Cattley had a horrific start to 2011, and it wasn’t until September that he picked up his first win of the year. However, since then, he’s been on fine form. Morgan, meanwhile, just wants to get to the top, by any means necessary. And Miyazaki, well, he’s as inscrutable as ever. Now allied with Matthew Keith, I can only speculate about his motives. But putting the hurting on his two of his friend’s big challengers would go down well, I’m sure. [U]MAW Heavyweight Title[/U] James Casey vs. Frankie Perez (c) I’ll make no secret that I don’t like James Casey. He’s an arrogant, mouthy, disrespectful punk who talks a much better game than he’s shown in the ring these last few months. And while I don’t like Frankie Perez, I respect the hell out of the guy’s ability to come out on top, come what may. And ol’ Rip can remember a time when he was on top of the world, and flapping his gums more than he ought to have done. So, Casey’s going to need to bring his A-game – nothing less will be good enough to have a chance of toppling the champ. [U]MAW Women’s Title[/U] Alicia Strong (c) vs. Wanda Fish Say what you like about Alicia Strong’s old man – and I’ve said a lot in my time – he’s trained a fighting champion. Not that that makes a difference to Wanda Fish, who’ll fight the whole world to get it to notice her. She wants respect and status, and she thinks she needs the Women’s title to get it. Well, it won’t hurt, and if she carries through with her threat on putting the hurt on Marv Earnest, she might even get a few kudos from old RC. [U]MAW Traditional Title[/U] Greg Keith vs. Matthew Keith (c) Nothing warms the Chord heart like a pair of brothers beating merry hell out of each other. What started as a brotherly competition between these two young stars back at the start of the year has blossomed into pure hatred as they’ve clashed with the Traditional title at stake. Now this match will settle things once and for all – and to make sure it’s a decisive finish one way or the other, we’re breaking out a cage to be certain... Also on the show, there will be a draft lottery. Chiefs of Staff Rob Miskovsky and Steve Smith will have two draws apiece – and as a result, two men from Assault and two men from Wrestling will be switching brands. Come check us out on the last Friday of the year at the Biker Museum in North Caroline. This is old RC, saying I’ll see you ringside![/CENTER][/QUOTE] * Quick picks: Amazing Fire Fly vs. Roderick Remus Sara Marie York and Tracy Brendon vs. Dragon Assassin and Huntress Makiko Shane Nelson vs. Barry Kingman Joanne Rodriguez vs. Agent 69 Steve Flash vs. Joss Thompson [U]MAW Tag Team Titles[/U]: Canadian Blondes vs. Natural Storm vs. Strong Mayhem (c) Three Way Dance: “Machine” Jean Cattley vs. “Trademark” Thomas Morgan vs. Shingen Miyazaki [U]MAW Heavyweight Title[/U]: James Casey vs. Frankie Perez (c) [U]MAW Women’s Title[/U]: Alicia Strong (c) vs. Wanda Fish [U]MAW Traditional Title[/U]: Greg Keith vs. Matthew Keith (c) * [I]Good to be back - at least for one more show :-) Chris got 4, and Emark 2 for this show.[/I]

The Blondes and Natural Storm used their numbers advantage to counter any cheating, but otherwise played it fair, which in the end cost them. Erik Strong once more introduced a chair to the proceedings, and when DC Rayne snatched it from him and caught Strong in the gut with it, the referee was well placed to cal for the DQ. As Rayne and Howard protested, Flash Savage was caught with a Powerful Chaos onto the chair, and the champs had another successful defence [B](D+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SaraMarieYork.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/TracyBrendon.jpg[/IMG]Sara Marie York and Tracy Brendon vs. Dragon Assassin and Huntress Makiko[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/DragonAssassin.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/HuntressMakiko.jpg[/IMG] The two teams wasted no time getting into their match. Tracy Brendon, who has been on something of a roll of late, was particularly eager to take the fight to the vicious Assassin, who for once appeared taken aback. Makiko saved her partner with some timely interference, only to be chased off by York, who seemed delighted with her partner. Assassin saved herself with a handful of hair prior to dumping Brendon over the top rope, but Brendon landed on her feet and when Makiko was tagged in, she was subjected to a shock Idaho Crunch that earned the face team a victory – and the joint number one contender spot for the Women’s title [B](C-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/AmazingFireFly.jpg[/IMG]Amazing Fire Fly vs. Roderick Remus[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RoderickRemus.jpg[/IMG] Roderick Remus has never quite lived up to expectations in his two spells in MAW, and so this match against Amazing Fire Fly was something of a make-or-break affair. Remus worked hard, but seemed to lack the spark that Fly possesses in abundance, so it was no great shock when Fly hit the Sky High Fire Fly for the win, but the quality of the match was sufficient to convince the powers-that-be that Remus might just have a future – with the right opponents [B](C-)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JoanneRodriguez.jpg[/IMG]Joanne Rodriguez vs. Agent 69[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/Agent69_alt.jpg[/IMG] 69 seemed unhappy about having Marv Earnest in her corner, as the misogynistic commentator’s voice was clearly audible in the ring. J-Ro for her part did her best to ignore Earnest’s calls, and just wrestle the match. At the same time, 69 was chosen by Earnest for a reason, and used a plethora of sneaky tricks – some of them very obvious, the dastardly Commie – to keep the lead. Rodriguez came back strong, but when she went for a J-Rocker her enthusiasm showed itself as overeagerness, and she crashed and burned. 69 took advantage with a Soviet Strike for the upset win [B](D+)[/B] [U]Three Way Dance[/U] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MeanJeanCattley.jpg[/IMG]vs.[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ThomasMorgan.jpg[/IMG]vs.[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ShingenMiyazaki.jpg[/IMG] “Machine” Jean Cattley vs. “Trademark” Thomas Morgan vs. Shingen Miyazaki Something of a dream match for MAW’s fans as they got to see three of Assault’s finest tearing into one another. None of the three seemed above forming short-term partnerships to try and gain the advantage, and all three men were the subject of double-teaming from their opponents. Although the fans were solidly behind Cattley, it escaped no-one’s notice that his actions were as dastardly as Miyazaki’s and Morgan’s, but the MAW fans would forgive him almost anything, particularly given his opponents. Morgan seemed to have the match won at one point, reversing a Cattley Mood Swing into a Morgan’s Finest, but Miyazaki dropped both opponents with a Shining Wizard. Morgan took the brunt of the blow, and was down for the count, but when Miyazaki moved in for the cover, Cattley was able to land a successful Mood Swing on him for the relatively clean win [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SteveFlash_alt.jpg[/IMG]Steve Flash vs. Joss Thompson[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JoseThompson.jpg[/IMG] Quite why Joss Thompson thought that his losing streak would end against MAW’s most experienced wrestler escaped everyone in the arena. Still, he put up a strong fight and looked impressive, before falling to a Flash Bang [B](C+)[/B] After the match, Flash offered a handshake as a sign of respect, but Thompson slapped his hand away and drilled the victor with a Clean Cutter to leave him lying [B](E+)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ShaneNelson.jpg[/IMG]Shane Nelson vs. Barry Kingman[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/BarryKingman.jpg[/IMG] The fans love Shane Nelson, and were buzzing for his match. The bland Barry Kingman proved to be a fine opponent for him as he is experienced, technically sound, and a fine athlete, which is about all Nelson needs to pull out a great match. The two put on a seesaw battle that had the fans – especially the female ones – rooting for Nelson as the advantage switched directions as quickly as blinking. Kingman seemed to have the match won when he attempted an Uncrowned Monarch, but Nelson slipped behind and drilled him with a Full Nelson Bomb for the win [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RipChord.jpg[/IMG] Rip chord entered the ring: [COLOR="Purple"]“It’s that time of year again, folks – time for the Rip Chord Invitational! Now, here’s the deal – we’ve effectively got three promotions running here, and that means more and more people wanting to enter. So we’re expanding the tournament. Now, we have five former champions under contract, Alicia Strong, Casey Valentine, James Casey, Cal Sanders and Marc Speed. All will receive a direct bye into the second round. Twenty-two other wrestlers from the three brands will face off over the next three months, prior to the tournament finals taking place in April.”[/COLOR] [B](D)[/B] [COLOR="Purple"]“In addition to that, we’ve also held a draft lottery backstage. The Assault and Wrestling Chiefs of Staff have entered their rosters into the draft, and the results are in. Moving from Assault to Wrestling will be Edward Cornell and either Greg or Matthew Keith, depending on who loses tonight’s main event. Moving from Wrestling to Assault will be Joss Thompson, and Steve Flash”[/COLOR] [B](D)[/B] [U]MAW Heavyweight Title[/U] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JamesCasey.jpg[/IMG]James Casey vs. Frankie Perez (c)[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FrankiePerez.jpg[/IMG] In terms of star power, this was probably the glitziest match on the card, but heel/heel matches never work the way they’re meant to, or so Rip assured me when we decided on the final line-up. This match was all about venom, as Casey sought to prove himself as something more than the arrogant braggadocio that Perez had branded him. Perez, meanwhile, taunted and mocked Casey, doing everything he could to provoke an emotional response from his challenger as he sought for an opening. It was as much a battle of wits as it was a fight. With the two men exhausting one another, and seemingly stymied in their quest to outthink each other, it came down to a straight battle of finishers, and when Casey went for a Somersault DDT, he erred in placing himself in the perfect position for Perez, lightning quick, to clamp on a P-Clutch. Casey faded, and seemed to be out, but when his legs gave he crumpled to the mat, one foot under the rope. Perez broke the hold, but stalked his opponent, and when Casey struggled onto all fours, Perez struck with a Perfect Parity for the win [B](C)[/B] [U]MAW Women’s Title[/U] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/AliciaStrong_alt.jpg[/IMG]Alica Strong (c) vs. Wanda Fish[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/WandaFish.jpg[/IMG] Both women glared daggers at Marv Earnest as he exulted over his latest plan to kill the Militant brand, but when the bell rang, neither seemed to be interested in anything but the match. Strong fought hard, having the better of the opening exchanges with a flurry of aerial offence. Fish came back with hard strikes that disoriented the champion. Strong tried to kick her way back into the match, aiming several shots at Fish’s head, but the challenger was able to duck or deflect the blows, before striking with a Boston Crab that Strong was only able to break in the ropes. Favouring her back, Strong was slowed considerably by the damage inflicted, and was on the defensive for much of the rest of the match. Fish targeted the wounded body part, but was unable to hold down the feisty Strong for the win – and even came close to losing when she missed a corner charge and injured her arm. Strong clapped on a Strongarm, but Fish was able to roll over and into the ropes. Strong struggled to make her way upright as Fish stood over her, but Marv Earnest appeared to have seen enough. Sprinting from the announcer’s position, he struck Strong in the back of the head with the Women’s title, knocking her unconscious, and leaving her easy prey for Fish, who seemed reluctant to make the cover. “Pin her,” Marv ordered. “Or I’ll have you disqualified.” Fish reluctantly did as she was told, and the referee counted three. Earnest entered the ring and handed Fish her new title [B](C)[/B] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MarvEarnest.jpg[/IMG] [COLOR="Red"]“Female empowerment, equal rights, girl power... What a load of crap! Fish, I want you to walk out of here tonight knowing that you only won because of me. You couldn’t beat Strong last time you faced her, you only won tonight because I helped you... You can’t do this, Fish. You’re not good enough to be a wrestler – no woman is. I love this business, and I’ll be damned if I’ll see it turned into a mockery of itself by women pretending to be in the same league as men. [/COLOR] [COLOR="Red"]“You want to know who got you in the semi-final tonight? It wasn’t me – I was all for putting you on the pre-show at best, when everyone’s still at the confection stand, or taking a piss. No, it’s Rip who’s your drunk guardian angel. So let’s hear it Rip – are you going to let me run things the way I want, or are you gonna keep overruling me?”[/COLOR] Rip stood up. [COLOR="Purple"]“You want to torpedo your own future in this company? Go ahead. I respect a man who stands up for his principles, kid, even if those principles are thirty years and more out of date. But there’s one condition...”[/COLOR] “What?” [COLOR="Purple"]“So long as you have paying customers, you have to keep trying to put on a real show. That means matches. It means you respect the title – even if you don’t respect the people who hold it. It means that you get to carry on your personal vendetta, so long as you continue to make me money.”[/COLOR] Marv smirked. [COLOR="Red"]“I know that there’s a lot of people out there who agree with me..”[/COLOR] he declared. [COLOR="Red"]“I’m going to make MAW a very bad place for any woman who want to be taken seriously as a wrestler...”[/COLOR] [B](D+)[/B] [U]MAW Traditional Title – Steel Cage Match[/U] [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/GregGauge.jpg[/IMG]Greg Keith vs. Matthew Keith (c)[IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MatthewGauge.jpg[/IMG] The steel cage came into play early in this tussle between the two brothers, as each man sought to punish the other for their recent actions. Greg bled heavily as he took the brunt of the early punishment, and Matthew seemed to be on course for an easy win. But when Matthew climbed the cage, Greg was able to knock him loose, and crotch him on the top bar. Matthew howled, and the crowd ooohed in sympathy with the pained heel. Greg took advantage of his brother’s wounded pride by dragging him off the cage and nailing a superplex, but this left him open for retaliation as Matthew was still fresher. He came back with a series of mounted punches, but was surprised with a roll-up for a very near fall. Matthew did his best, but the advantage had swung to his brother, who soon evened the score by splitting the champion’s skull open with a vicious shot to the turnbuckle that turned the top pad red. Matthew was groggy, and punching blindly as the blood spilled freely over his eyes. Greg took advantage with a series of clotheslines before setting up a Full Moon, but Matthew was able to counter into a Depth Gauge that left both men down. Matthew started to crawl for the cage door, but Greg was hot on his heels, and pulled level, using his own brother’s body as a ladder. The two pulled themselves onto their knees by the cage door, and traded punches, barely able to see as the referee unlocked the door. Greg suddenly changed tack and moved for a Proton Lock, but Matthew ducked away and caught Greg with a roundhouse kick to the head that left him staggered, and he clung to the second rope by the door for support. Matthew began to climb the cage wall as Greg hung by the door, only stirring as his brother swung over the top. He began to pull himself through the ropes, and had his head through the door. Matthew saw this, and let go of the cage on his way down, swinging as he did so to dropkick the door into Greg’s head, knocking him out and giving Matthew the title as he dropped, hard, to the floor [B](C) Show overall: C[/B][/CENTER] * A slight improvement on last month saw MAW lose about $5,000 – ‘up’ from $8,000 * TEW.com’s Year-end Awards – [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/BryanVessey.jpg[/IMG] Wrestler of the Year: Bryan Vessey – The forty-year old Vessey has been there or thereabouts for the last several years, but a tremendous (if not very busy) year saw him amass 25 wins in 41 matches in PGHW, where he’s the undisputed top foreigner. Incredible matches against the likes of Buddy Garner and Mito Miwa helped raise his profile mid-year, but it was the back-to-back MOTY candidates with Eisaku Kunomasu and Yoshimi Mushashibo in the last two weeks that made Vessey our main man. MAW mention: #99 Matthew Keith [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/GinoMontero.jpg[/IMG] Young Wrestler of the Year: Gino Montero – Mexico’s brightest is tearing up TCW as he picks up his second consecutive award in this category. Although still only notching around .400 over the course of the year, Montero is the highlight of the undercard, and has picked up big wins in recent months over the likes of Guide, Joel Bryant and both Darkness brothers. TCW clearly have big plans for the impressive 22-year old. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/HarukiKudo.jpg[/IMG] Veteran Wrestler of the Year: Haruki Kudo – Another second consecutive award, the 48 year old Hooded Kudo hung up the tights in October this year, but before that held his own in a string of impressive matches. His last month of action, in particular, saw him go out of his way to put over the up-and-coming BHOTWG talent, and his retirement loss to Marat Khoklov had fans on their feet in a hair-raising standing ovation. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/WandaFish.jpg[/IMG] Female Wrestler of the Year: Wanda Fish – The decision on the part of Rip Chord and James Casey to turn MAW into a tri-brand promotion was a bolt from the blue, but no-one has benefited more from this than Wanda Fish. Unemployed and out of favour with AAA, she was snapped up on a contract said to be among MAW’s most expensive. Immediately programmed against good-girl champion Alicia Strong, she put on strong showings all year long against a variety of opponents. Her Iron defeat to Sayeed Ali seemed a strange decision, as Fish is a natural heel and gained no sympathy from her mauling, but it served as the catalyst for her morph into the loner tweener character, defiant of everyone in the company. Now she seems to be locked in a near heel vs. heel feud with Militant Chief of Staff Marv Earnest, which at least means we’re likely to see Fish put in strong performances in-ring. MAW seem to have accepted that Fish is their best female wrestler and are pushing her as the centrepiece of their female brand, but this storyline may need a little tweaking... [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/NOTBPW.jpg[/IMG] Promotion of the Year: NOTBPW – Yet another second consecutive award, the Canadian boys are so far ahead of everyone else, it’s not even funny. Have really spread their wings this year, taking in extensive time in Mexico and the East coast of America. With the Stone family and talents like Owen Love and Angry Gilmore on board, their dominance is likely to continue – although a few younger faces might not hurt. Davis Wayne Newton can only do so much by himself, undoubted future superstar that he is. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ElBandito.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/NicolasLopez.jpg[/IMG] Match of the Year: El Bandito def. Nicolas Lopez, SOTBPW Huelgas De Relampago - This early October clash came from almost nowhere, displacing the NOTBPW roster for the first time in five years. Bandito retained the SOTBPW Campeon de Mundo title in this heated collision, at the climax of a series that had been slowly building since May last year, and which exploded into life over the summer. An incredibly well booked feud saw the veteran retaining his title in the simply astonishing final match. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MAW-1.jpg[/IMG] Most Improved Promotion of the Year: MAW – Hands up who thought that MAW were crazy when they split their roster three ways in January? We here at TEW.com did – we condemned the move as needless and unnecessary. Still, we’ve been given three consistently entertaining shows a month, a valid women’s roster that is really the only one outside of AAA, the rise and rise of TEW.com favourite Frankie Perez, and the episodic war between brothers Greg and Matthew Keith, who finally bought their feud to an end with a fantastic cage match at Where It All begins Again on Friday night. MAW, meanwhile, have grown in popularity in the South-East, Great Lakes and Mid-South, and looks to be heading for national prominence in the future. The one question mark hangs over the federation’s finances – James Casey’s first four years as head booker saw profits skyrocket. His fifth saw them lose nearly fifty thousand dollars – a fortune to a fed this size. Reports suggest that finances are levelling out for MAW. We here at TEW.com certainly hope so – we want to be praising them for a long time to come. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/NOTBPW.jpg[/IMG] Card of the Year: NOTBPW Grappling Glory – A superb night of wrestling, even with Bobby Thomas and Mighty Cavanagh doing their best to kill the mood. Art Reed staked his claim to superstardom in an otherwise throwaway mid card six-man match, The Natural picked up the Unlimited Action title and Sean McFly had a strong match with RK Hayes. But the night belonged to the Stones, as Edd toppled Duane in a stunning collision, and Dan Jr rolled over Owen Love to retain the Canadian title in a MOTY candidate. What would they do without the first family of wrestling? * MAW Year-end Awards [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/FrankiePerez.jpg[/IMG] Wrestler of the Year – In terms of match quality, it’s hard to choose, but having been undefeated all year long, and been MAW Heavyweight champion since January, the clear winner is Frankie Perez. Never less than very entertaining in the ring, Perez has matured over the last year from one half of one of MAW’s finest tag teams, into possibly the finest wrestler the company has ever seen – and certainly the best in the last year. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/RandyMaxx.jpg[/IMG][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/ErikStrong.jpg[/IMG] Tag Team of the Year – No-one has really stood out in ring in this category, and with the profusion of lowercard workers diluting the pool in terms of quality and quantity, its been a weak year for tag teams in MAW. However, Strong Mayhem have stepped up a gear since their mid-year move from Assault to Wrestling, and their shock turn on Natural Storm at Iron brought them the tag title belts, and set the stage for the formation of Generation Next. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/JamesCasey.jpg[/IMG] vs. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/MeanJeanCattley.jpg[/IMG] Match of the Year – MAW has offered a lot of contenders for this award. Amazing Fire Fly’s shots at Frankie Perez’s titles stood out, as did Hugh de Aske’s match with Perez at Iron. Wanda Fish and Alicia Strong were impressive when pitted against each other, and Steve Flash has good matches with nearly everyone. Pride of place, however, must go to Jean Cattley’s emotional 20-minute war with long-time nemesis James Casey at Iron. The two JCs did their best to put the other down, but eventually were beaten only by the bell. While at the time it would seem that neither man would benefit from the result, both would go on to pick up wins in their matches the following month, and have both have been in fine form ever since. [IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/08Iron.jpg[/IMG] Card of the Year – Outstanding action featuring some of the finest matches ever put on in MAW, August’s Iron was the highlight of the MAW calendar. The highlight of the night was Frankie Perez main event victory over Hugh de Aske, but Jean Cattley’s draw with James Casey and Shane Nelson’s vanquishing of Shingen Miyazaki were close behind. And while the battle of the Keiths was a so-so match, the emotion involved in the brother vs. brother battle made it a true spectacle. * [I]OOC: Three for Chris, two for Emark - I'm not predictable! Annnnnnd we're out... That's one year of booking, in which there's been an awful lot of fun. MAW in 2012, though, is a very different beast. Just one month in, it's almost unrecognisable, due to the changes wrought by Remianen's recommendations. I think its entertaining, but it's obviously a big shift that no company would make all in one go. I intend to post the first few shows, over the next week or so, and I guess we'll see where we go from there. It'll be in a new thread, anyway - I've been irritated since day one that I got the title of this one wrong... Hope you've enjoyed the year, and hopefully we'll see you in 2012 :D[/I]
