CZCW: Where The Water Is Fine

Recommended Posts

Now, I should tell you how I got here I suppose. My name is Ben Avatar. I've done nothing much in my life really, gone to school, gotten the grades, walked the walk. The only thing that is weird about me, is that I have no athletic ability. None. I can speak pretty well in front of a crowd, but I'll trip over my own feet on the way out. One other thing I've done. I've been to every Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling Show Ever. And I mean EVER. I was six years old when I went to the first one. They've been the same the entire time, with fast-paced action the golden standard. But they've also been stuck in neutral, especially since they were taken over by Cliff Anderson. That's where I come in. I was sitting in my customary seat at Christmas Chaos, the last show of the Coastal Zone year, when I was handed a note by an usher. Yeah, they have ushers. And yes, I know what you're wondering. They all do wear fish suits. The nautical theme extends to them as well. But back to my mystery note. The note read something to the extent of: Cliff Anderson requests your presence in his private office after the show. And dammit, I hoped to all hell that he wasn't propositioning me. So, after the show ended and the masses filed out of The Snake Pit, I met the same usher. He said to follow him, and so I did. He was still wearing the suit. It was just a little bit creepy, but that's alright. So I followed the Fish man up them golden stairs to the office of the owner of CZCW, Cliff Anderson. Actually, the stairs were orange. Yes, Orange. Not golden, not aqua, not even blue. Orange. I walked into the office of the man who ran the company I adored, and sat down. Cliff asked me why I was at every show. He noticed me always sitting there in that same seat, and wondered what I saw in the company. I answered that I saw a good company with lots of untapped talent. The aerial, high-risk style used by the members of this promotion had the potential to become hugely popular, especially in the United States. Cliff sat back, stroked his chin for a minute, and said: "Farrah Heskett is leaving us, and vacating the head booker position. Would you like the job?" My heart stopped. I swear it did. I know that's a logical impossibility, due to the fact I probably wouldn't be writing this if it did. But I think it did, because that's how big this was to me. I said yes to Cliff Anderson, and off I went. Up to today. Today is the first ever CZCW Riptide, the new weekly show that we would hold at the Snake Pit. Cliff knocked on my door this morning and told me he had four things for the new year. - The Promotion must be more popular in the South West in two years. - The Promotion must be more prestigious in two years. - I couldn't hire any non-athletes, as our style was all out athletic. Damn, no wrestling for me! - And, I couldn't hire anyone who worked for anyone else. Homegrown talent was good for business. Damn, of the four, only the last one hurt. There was lots of independent talent out there that would fit well here. I mean, I had managed to get a few before Cliff made this announcement, especially some tag teams, as we had approximately one. Yes, one. I also got a few working agreements, and then he came in with these four rules. No matter. Tonight, CZCW takes its first steps into the future, with the first ever CZCW Riptide. Wow, I can't believe I'm in charge of all this. But hell, I don't care, sometimes you just have to live the dream. I made the last changes to the card, and sat back to relax.

CZCW Riptide The Snake Pit (850 Fans)
vs. The two put on a good opener, especially with Jacob having no momentum in this new place. Somewhat surprisingly, Jett picks up the win with a Jett Take Off, beating the CZCW veteran, Masked Cougar. (D) Fox Mask walks out to the center of the ring. "Donnie J, you have something that belongs to me. The CZCW World Championship. Yeah, I know you beat me. But I also know it was a fluke. Prove me wrong Donnie J. Give me another shot, one-on-one. Tonight, for the CZCW World Championship. I'll give you this next match to think about it." (D) vs. Wow. These two men can go. They're the best two technical stars in the company and they show it all off here. They go back and forth, displaying a fast-paced, yet classic style that actually got the crowd pumped. They end up face to face, when they both unleash vicious roundhouse kicks, that both connect with each other's head. Both men fall to the floor, and as Pee-Wee checks them, they are both out of it. The match is a draw! (C-) Donnie J comes out. "Okay Fox Mask. You think my victory that gave me this CZCW World Championship was a fluke. You think I don't deserve this belt? Well, I'm gonna prove you wrong. Tonight, one-on-one, mano-y-mano. Donnie J vs. Fox Mask. Title's on the line. Prove you wrong, Fox Mask? I'll do more then that." (D+) vs. Another really good match here. Remmy Skye's got a cult following here in the Coastal Zone, but then again, so does Insane Machine. These guys have gone at it multiple times in the past, and this one is another good chapter in that book. Remmy Skye hits a Skye Driver for the win. (C-) vs. --CZCW World Championship-- Another nice match to close out the night here in the Coastal Zone. Both of these warriors have faced the other before, and both respect the other's abilities. The duel between these two lasts fifteen strong minutes of high flying action, before Donnie J ends it with a Death on Miami Beach. (C-) Donnie J isn't done as the match ends. He grabs Fox Mask, and drags him over to the ring post. He drives his head into the post several times, then takes him up to the top rope. DEATH FROM MIAMI BEACH FROM THE TOP ROPE! Wow! Fox Mask is out cold. Donnie J wants a microphone, and he gets one. "Fox Mask, you think my victory was a fluke! What do you think now? I'm the champ Fox, and it's gonna stay that way." (D+, D+)
Overall Rating: D+

CZCW Riptide The Snake Pit (876 Fans) Wooh, a small increase!
vs. These guys who are already, yes, already unhappy with the number of shows they haven't been used on go at it here. Matt Sparrow is a good worker, a darn good worker, but Snap Dragon is... a Dragon. And Dragon eat Birds. If there were dragons. Anywhoo... Snap Dragon Wins. (D+) Donnie J walks out to the center of the ring. "Last week, I did what I had to do with Fox Mask. The man wanted a shot at my title, and that means there's a slight chance, a slight chance that I might lose this belt. So... Donnie J is not gonna defend this title. Donnie J will hold on to this title for ever and ever. Hah. (D+) Cliff Anderson stands up behind the announce table. "Woah, woah, woah. Donnie J, you have to defend that belt. It's part of the company, and you are the champion. If you refuse to defend the CZCW World Championship, you must give it up. So what's it gonna be?" (D) Donnie J looks mad, then says: "Fine, I'll defend the belt. But not tonight. Tonight, a few guys should fight to see who's worthy for a title shot. But just to tell ya, no one's getting this belt off me, not now, not ever." (D+) vs. Wow. Best match so far here on Riptide, and a hell of a battle in general. These two go at it, and bring the house down. Too bad it's just the second match of the night, but it's still good. Plague wins the match by pinfall. (C!) A video plays, hyping the "main event." A match between "The" Ultimate Phoenix versus Fox Mask! That's heavy dude! (D) vs. A main event quality match, from... two of our main eventers, in the main event. Wow, it fits! They go at it for about fifteen hard-fought minutes, before Fox Mask wins the match after a lovely moonsault. Another great! match. (C!) Donnie J runs out, and blindsides Fox Mask. "You think you're ready for a title shot? NO CHANCE! Next week, you take on another man, and that man is my best friend, Jimmy P!" (D)
Overall Grade: D+ Damn, I thought I had a C-! Darn you angles!

CZCW Riptide The Snake Pit (892 Fans)
vs. Two of the better technical workers here in the Coastal Zone square off here. Marc Speed really dominates the match. Dee gets a little bit of offense, but nothing serious. Speed locks in a Deadly Heel Hook, and Dee taps out. (D) Fox Mask walks out to the center of the ring with a microphone. "Donnie J, you think your little boy-toy Jimmy P is gonna end my run at your title? Not likely, not likely at all Donnie J. Watch tonight folks. Watch when I destroy Jimmy P, and send one hell of a message to Donnie J. I'm coming for the belt." (D+) vs. Mario Heroic is a new addition to the roster here in the Coastal Zone. His weird charisma gives him a shot to get over here, and he has enough in-ring skill to not really kill a match. Jacob Jett though, is a better wrestler, and a brighter star. No offense to Mario, but Jett's on his way. And he proves that here by nailing a Jett Take Off for the pinfall victory. (D) Cliff Anderson walks out to the center of the ring. "In the last two weeks, two men have defeated Insane Machine, the current CZCW Xtreme Championship holder. I think our champions should be able to win matches. So Insane Machine, tonight you'll defend your belt in a three-way dance against Remmy Skye and Plague. And it'll happen RIGHTNOW!" (D+) vs. vs. --CZCW Xtreme Championship-- Another great match out of this recent storyline type thingy. The two challengers gang up on Insane Machine for a short while, until Plague rocks Remmy Skye with a big right hand. The three men go at it all around the ring. Remmy Skye hits a Skye Driver on Plague, but Insane Machine yanks him off of the cover. Machine rocks Skye with a Termination Kick! 1-2-3, it's over. Insane Machine retains his title. (C-) A hype video plays, showing the recent events between Donnie J and Fox Mask, ending with Donnie J's challenge for Fox Mask to face Jimmy P tonight, in our main event. (D) vs. Another good match, but not as good as the last one. Jimmy P isn't as talented as the other men who've been featured tonight, and I suppose it shows. He is more over with the fans, and that helps some. The match goes fifteen strong, before Fox Mask ends it with a Fox Flip Off DDT. (D+) Fox Mask celebrates, and calls for a microphone. "I bet you still won't give me a shot Donnie J. Okay, I'm down with that. But if I and a partner of MY choice beat you and Jimmy P next week, I get a title shot on the next Riptide. You ready Donnie J? I know I am." (D+)
Overall Rating: D+ Raised popularity again.

OK guys, after a little soul-searching, and reading the responses that I have been given over the last few days, I've decided to continue with this. CZCW is my favorite promotion in the game, and I love them to death. So this is the one I've chosen. Woo. Another show'll be up later today.

The Snake Pit (812 Fans)
vs. Jeremiah Moose gets his now-customary MOOOOOOOOOOOOSE chant as he enters the Combat Zone. But Jacob Jett is not to be denied on this night. He dominated the Moosed one, culminating by locking in the Jett Engine. Jeremiah struggles, but there is no where to go, and he submits. (D-) vs. A darn good match here, as these two guys are favorites of the independent scene. The crowd gets into the battle, and several big spots are hit. I mean, that's what we do here in The Coastal Zone. Spots. And vague lucha. And other things. Heh. "The P-Dawg" Frankie Perez wins the match with a superkick. (D+) A video plays, hyping the events between Fox Mask and Donnie J, focusing on the challenge last week for a tag match. If Fox Mask wins, he gets a title shot! (D) vs. These two have no chemistry, sad. But they do manage to still put on a main event quality match? WTF? They blow some spots, but the ones the manage to hit are so damn good the crowd is in a frenzy at the end, when Insane Machine runs in, and hits a Termination Kick on both men, causing a no contest. (C-) Donnie J and Jimmy P walk out to the boos of the crowd. "You all shut the hell up! We're The Fly Boys, we've been to the top, and you have to respect us, idiots. Anywhere, your not our business. Fox Mask! Last week, you challenged us to a tag match. Now, we agreed because we are just that damn good, and there is no way you'll beat us. So who's your partner Fox Mask? Who are we gonna destroy? (C-) Fox Mask walks out. "Thank you Fly Boys for accepting this challenge. Too bad you'll be crying at the end of the night, when me and my partner win this match, and earn me a title shot. But I know all you fans out there are waiting for my partner, and here he is, the ULTIMATE PHOENIX!" (D+) and vs. and Not as good as the last match, but still a credible main event that lets the fans go home happy. Fox Mask and Ultimate Phoenix have no chemistry as a team, their timing was all over the place. But Donnie J and Jimmy P have no such issues. After an early surge by the face team, Donnie J and Jimmy P isolate Fox Mask in the corner. They beat him down, then Jimmy P clotheslines Phoenix off the apron. Donnie J hits the Death From Miami Beach, and gets the pin. (D+) As the show ends, Donnie J is spitting and screaming in the face of Fox Mask, saying: "No title shot for you Foxie, whatcha gonna do know! Whatcha gonna DO!" (C)
Overall Rating: D+
