Pre-show: Billy Blade vs. Unnamed This was a squash that wasn’t as badly received as expected, especially considering that these competitors didn’t click in the ring at all. This lack of chemistry didn’t really effect the 47-seconds duration of this match, which was won by the mystery man with a Reverse DDT. Winner at 0:47 Unnamed Rating: C The Bulldogs vs. The Bar Brawlers This wasn’t great by any means but it shows that management wants to be able to give the tag division ring-time to improve so that quality matches can be put on TV and pay-per-view. Smith and Siaki dominated the early minutes until Kingston and Ruckus fought back. However, the comeback amounted to nothing. Kingston made the hot tag but Ruckus charged right into a Powerslam by Smith which got the pin. Winners at 6:51 The Bulldogs Rating: D+ Doug Williams vs. El Generico Generico was shockingly allowed some offence in this short and inoffensive (considering the standing of both men) match. The two really tried to impress, but the win went to Williams 5 minutes in with the Chaos Theory. Winner at 5:18 Doug Williams Rating: D+ Williams’ celebration is cut short when the lights cut out and the screen shows static. After a few moments, a dark field is shown, with a full moon in the background. The camera shows a silhouette of a crow against the moon on a wooden post. Just as the bird is about to fly away, a bolt of lightning hits it and it explodes into a mass of flames and feathers. The lights come back on in the arena and the bird is hanging from the titan tron. ...To Be Loved comes over the P.A. and the show is officially on the air! Rating: B JR: Good evening ladies and gentlemen all over the world and welcome to Monday Night Raw. I apologise if I seem a little shaken but we’ve just had a horrific image before we came on the air tonight and this can be seen now exclusively on WWE.com. I’ll do my best to call the show at the quality it deserves but it seems the videos interrupting matches the last couple of weeks aren’t over. Lawler: I’ve no idea what they mean J.R., but like you said, we need to do our jobs. This first match is a tag team match with Bryan Danielson and Nick Armaho teaming up against Carlito and Samoa Seanoa! JR: I’ve been looking forward to this one all week, King, so let’s get to it! Carlito Caribbean Cool and Samoan Seanoa vs. Bryan Danielson and Nick Armaho & vs. & Smarks all over the world were marking out collectively at the chance to see Danielson and Samoa Joe face off in a WWE ring. The quality of the match was solid, but at 4 minutes long and all four men getting in offence we were only treated to a minute or so of Seanoa-Danielson action. That said, all four men proved their worth until the end came (as expected) when Danielson got the win with a Dragon Suplex on Seanoa. Winners at 3:53 Bryan Danielson and Nick Armaho Rating: C+ A video plays hyping The Undertaker vs. The Rock vs. Triple H. It shows clips from the Attitude Era and is billed as “A Return of an Era”. Rating: B+ We cut backstage where it’s time for yet another Kenny Dykstra interview. He’s in his office in a sharp suit with the Intercontinental Title sitting proudly on his desk. There’s a knock on the door and Kensuke Sasaki comes into view. Dykstra: Mr. Sasaki, thank you for sending in a CV. We here at Kenny Dykstra Corporation- the KDC- are pleased to have you here. Sasaki: We? You only one man. Dykstra: You’re smart, I like that. I don’t need more than myself, besides the one additional partner. Here’s the deal. You’re a big man, a strong guy- how about we take my- our- goal of censoring the WWE to pay-per-view. I’m scheduled to be in a tag match against Matt and Jeff Hardy this Sunday at Summerslam. How about I give you an opportunity- if we win the match, you’re part of KDC? Sasaki nods and leaves, leaving the champ with a huge smile on his face. Dykstra: If that’s not enough for all you Censormanics, I’m in action next against the corrupt, two-faced Shawn Michaels. Look forward to it. Rating: C+ Non-title: Intercontinental Champion Kenny Dykstra vs. Shawn Michaels vs. These two showed great chemistry, despite the match being only 5 minutes. They traded solid offence seamlessly until the abrupt ending occurred when Triple H hit the ring and spun HBK around, hitting the Pedigree and drawing the DQ. Winner at 4:58 by DQ Shawn Michaels Rating: A 5 4 3 2 Y2J! The legendary Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring for his match with the Rated R Superstar Edge. The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Roll gets into the ring with a mic and waits for the amazing reaction to die down. Jericho: Welcome to... Raw...is...apparently NOT Jericho anymore. I know, I know it sucks but the powers that be don’t seem to get something. I didn’t get a match last week on Raw, but our Number One Contender- no wait- our POTENTIAL Number One Contender competes on Raw and Smackdown. I understand the need to give him exposure, I understand the booking side of this business. What I don’t quite get is...he lost both his matches but I’ve been continually overlooked. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a problem I have with Edge personally, just the powers that be. I’m on the Summerslam pre-show, in a Battle Royal. I don’t even get shown on-screen and it’s a damn shame. Vince, we’re now a week away from your big announcement regarding the Ultimate Wrestling Championship. For your safety, like I said last week, I better be mentioned. Rating: A Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. These two are such incredible athletes and performers that they combined to pull out a spectacular match from essentially no build. Jericho and Edge fought for nearly 15 minutes, trading offence evenly until the 14th minute. Edge held the ref and was arguing with him, whilst shielding himself from Y2J. Jericho walked over to go back on the offence, but Edge shrugged away from the ref and hit a Spear out of nowhere for the win! Winner at 14:24 Edge Rating: A* A video is shown hyping the Number One Contender Match, and the winner’s match against CM Punk at Summerslam. Part way through, it’s interrupted by the video shown before the show went on air: After a few moments, a dark field is shown, with a full moon in the background. The camera shows a silhouette of a crow against the moon on a wooden post. Just as the bird is about to fly away, a bolt of lightning hits it and it explodes into a mass of flames and feathers. The lights come back on in the arena and the bird is hanging from the titan tron. Rating: B+ Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk and Val Venis vs. Umaga & vs. Umaga dominated the majority of this match and came out of it looking every bit the superstar who was made to look at the beginning of the year. Venis tired towards the end and he and Punk just don’t gel well as partners, but this was still a fantastic match that had the fans on the edge of their seats. The conclusion came when Punk hit the GTS on Umaga for the win 16 minutes in. Winner at 16:31 CM Punk Rating: B+ After the match, Edge charges to the ring and hits a Double Spear on Punk and Venis! He grabs a chair from ringside and starts to lay into them when suddenly...Ric Flair’s out! The Nature Boy and Edge trade offence until a low blow sends the potential Number 1 Contender to the mat. The faces are stood arms raised and embracing when Johnny Nitro hits the ring with a chair of his own and takes the three out. Edge rejoins the attack and the two leave triumphant over their respective Summerslam opponents. Rating: B+ Return of an Era: Triple H vs. The Undertaker vs. The Rock vs. vs. This served no real storyline purposes, but was 34 minutes of the best action in a while. These four are only a few of the main, true Attitude Era superstars left on the roster and this showed why they are so big in the company and in wrestling as a whole. This was more of a brawl than anything else, but kept the fans entertained with all three men getting in equal offence. Nearly 34 minutes in, the ending finally came with the crowd erupting as Triple H was pinned by a Chokeslam. Winner at 33:51 The Undertaker! Rating: A* The Undertaker is celebrating the win, when Umaga runs to the ring and attacks him from behind. Taker gets brutalised and the final image is Umaga standing over a fallen Undertaker after a brutal Samoan Spike. Rating: B+ FINAL RATING: B+ Success
nice to see you back. yet another great show. I am really loving the whole Kenny Dykstra thing.
Thanks for the kind words mate, especially concerning the Dykstra thing. It was booked a hell of a long time ago, and I'd forgotten some of the people I'd put in for interviews. Let's just say, there were a few surprises. I'll be putting up an ECW Preview/news report soon.

I am eager to see where Kenny Dykstra ends up. Ultimately I would like to see him as the Ultimate Wrestling Champion but i'm sure you have your own ideas about the Kenny Dykstra character. Totally off topic here's alittle something that you may find funny: "You're a superstar, at the gay bar." :D

Pre-show: 30-man Battle Royal! This decent battle royal opens the show for the live crowd. It was a bit rushed, being only 15 minutes, but by the 10th minute most of the jobbers had been eliminated and we had the final four of Bryan Danielson, Sabu, Edge and Senshi Dragon. Dragon was almost immediately taken out by a wild chair shot by Sabu. After a couple of minutes, Sabu was taken out by Danielson in impressive fashion (Sabu had been thrown over the top onto the apron, Danielson slid under and the Apron German Suplex was FINALLY hit in WWE). A couple of minutes later, it was all over when Edge managed to eliminated Danielson. It’s announced after the match that since Danielson wasn’t pinned or made to submit, his streak is still intact. Edge looked excellent in this, giving it the star power it needed to get the fans in a decent mood for the show. Winner at 14:47 Edge (but Danielson is still undefeated) Rating: C+ Styles: Tonight, Raw invades ECW- Johnny Nitro and Ric Flair will face off against ECW’s own Rob Van Dam and Elijah Burke respectively. Also in the main event, Brock Lesnar gets a title shot against- Styles is interrupted as the audio cuts off and the screen goes to white noise. A moment later, the screen shows a field bathed in the light from a full moon. Chanting can be heard but the words can’t be made out. The camera finds a group of children circling a large crucifix with a trench coat pinned to it. As the chant reaches its climax, the children scream, the cross is ablaze just as the moon passes behind a cloud. The scene cuts out as suddenly as it appeared, and we’re back officially on the air! Rating: B+ ECW vs. Raw: Elijah Burke vs. Ric Flair vs. These two put on a decent match, which isn’t surprising considering that Burke was the first ever ECW Xtreme Champion and Flair is, well, Ric Flair! 6 minutes in, Burke untied the turnbuckle cover. As the ref was re-attaching it, Elijah low blowed the Nature Boy and rolled him up for the cheap win! Winner at 7:05 Elijah Burke Rating: C+ ECW vs. Raw: Rob Van Dam vs. Johnny Nitro vs. This was better than the previous match, but a good few minutes shorter. That said, Nitro once again looked strong (as did Flair), but in the end RVD made it 2-for-2 for ECW, getting the win with a Five Star Frog Splash. Winner at 3:52 Rob Van Dam Rating: B- CM Punk’s music hits and the Straight Edge Champion makes his way to the ring with a mic. Punk: I’m not out here to talk about my match this Sunday at Summerslam- there’ll be time for that this Friday night on Smackdown, and now isn’t that time. I’m here just to say a few words about Kane. Look, you’re in action tonight against Brock Lesnar, defending your ECW Xtreme Title for no real reason. Here’s the deal- you’re a fantastic talent and if you lose the ECW Xtreme Title here tonight, you can face me next week on ECW for the Ultimate Wrestling Title, if I’m still champion. That said, I don’t see you losing that title any time soon! Kane, you’re a true legend and a class act, as well as a total monster. Paul Heyman sent me out to promote my match this Sunday, but really I think this time should have be spent promoting his brand’s champion, so that’s what I’m doing! Kane, I look forward to meeting you in the ring in the future, whenever that’ll be. Rating: B ECW Xtreme Title Match: ECW Xtreme Champion Kane vs. Brock Lesnar vs. The fans seemed confused about this starting 30 minutes before the end, but it becomes clear what’s going on over the next half-hour of fantastic wrestling. These two tore it up for 30 minutes, showing some pretty good chemistry together and giving the fans a nice, surprisingly long match. It will be remembered for a while and could easily be a MOTYC. The end saw that the Kane-Punk match won’t be happening as soon as next week (if it happens at all), with the Big Red Monster pinning Lesnar after a Tombstone Piledriver. Winner at 30:23 and STILL ECW Xtreme Champion Kane! Rating: A FINAL RATING: B+, success!

Yeah exactly. Reet I'll post the preview for Smackdown soon, then start writing it up. Meanwhile, if anyone decides it's worthy, I wouldn't mind a DOTM nomination :p I kid, I kid, only do it if this is actually decent. *Slips someone a fiver*

Pre-show: Ted Hart, Chavo Guerrero, Suicide, Deuce ‘n’ Domino vs. The Highlanders, Chris Hero, Alistair McGeorge and Chris Hero This wasn’t well received at all- with the exception of Hero and Guerrero, these are pretty much jobbers. This was only 5 minutes to get them all some ring-time, and eventually the faces (including real-life Head Booker Alistair McGeorge) got the win when Suicide was pinned after a Hero’s Welcome. Winners at 5:42 Chris Hero, Alistair McGeorge, The Highlanders and Funaki Rating: D William Regal vs. Kevin Steen Regal looked good out there, but wasn’t really on his game. These two had good chemistry though, and they still had a good match. The fact that Regal wasn’t at his best and still looked good is testament to his talent. Steen got offense in throughout the match, but 7 and a half minutes in he was hit with the Regal Cutter, which was enough to give the Great Brit the win. Winner at 7:30 William Regal Rating: C+ Cole: Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown! Tonight, Raw invades Smackdown. Whereas this past Tuesday on ECW, Paul Heyman chose Johnny Nitro and Ric Flair’s opponents, Theodore Long had a different idea for Smackdown. Tonight it’s a Raw Exhibition Pick Your Poison. Flair and Nitro will get to pick their Summerslam opponent’s opponent for tonight. These matches will each have a 15-minute Time Limit! Woooooo! JBL: Well, here comes the Nature Boy! I guess we’re finding out one of the matches already! Flair struts to the ring to a decent response, coming across well in front of the live crowd. Flair: Woooooo! Johnny Nitro...you’ve beaten me down, called me a has-been and generally tried to screw me over. On Tuesday I faced one of the brightest prospects in the business and went down swinging. You faced Rob Van Dam and he beat you in less than 4 minutes. Johnny boy, tonight you’ve got a hell of a challenge. Get out here Nitro, I want to tell you face-to-face who you’re gonna fight later on tonight. NITRO GET YOUR YELLOW BASTARD ASS OUT HERE! After a moment’s pause, Nitro does come out looking ****y but angry. He gets into the ring and gets a mic from ringside. Nitro: Ric...why the hostility? I gave you a warning a couple of weeks ago that fighting with the big boys wasn’t in your best interest, and in two day’s time I will prove it. I lost on Tuesday, that’s true, but I was holding back. I was saving a hidden reserve of energy and aggression that these jackasses have never seen from me before. Ric, I’m not only the best looking and most talented guy on the roster- I’m practically God, but I’m taking you to Hell at Summerslam. It really will be the hottest party of the summer- Flair: How cute. The Nature Boy’s gimmick is cute catch phrases and passionate promos, so don’t try and ride my coat-tails when you’re not even fit to lace my boots, junior. I’ve held more World Titles then you’ve had title matches. I’M THE FREAKING NATURE BOY RIC FLAIR, WOOOOOO! Nitro: Grow up, Father Time. It’s time for a new generation, a new guard to take over. Me and Batista WILL beat you and Christian this Sunday, I guarantee it. I also promise you that you won’t win your match tonight. Flair: Tell me, Nitro...who have you chosen...who have you hand-picked to be thrown to the wolves. Who have you sacrificed tonight for a worthless, fruitless cause? Nitro: You’ll find out immediately after MY match, Ric. Can you live with the suspense? I really hope the old ticker doesn’t let you down- Flair: THAT’S IT! You’re taking it too far. I respected the hell out of you as an entertainer and as an athlete, but the moment you hint at wishing DEATH on another WRESTLER- I say wrestler because there’s no way you’re a Superstar Johnny- the moment you do that, you cross a line. You’ve made the crossing over the bridge, the bridge is 60, 70, 100 feet in the air...above Hell. I hope to God you don’t drop down tonight- Nitro: If I go I’m taking you with me. Flair: SHUT UP! Shut your goddamn mouth. Save ALL your energy, because tonight you’re facing...the UNDEFEATED...the man who is yet to be pinned or made to quit...a man with passion like no other. Nitro...you’re facing Bryan Danielson! Danielson comes out to the stage and stares at Nitro, who looks irate and escapes any potential conflict through the crowd. Rating: B- WWE Tag Team Title Match: WWE Tag Team and United States Champion Paul London and WWE Tag Team and Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick vs. La Resistance & vs. & Kendrick looked good out there, and this was a solid opener, with the crowd excited to see a title match. The Double Champions fought an open, solid match which ended when Kendrick hit the Get Well Soon on Grenier, giving the champs their 6th title defence. Winners at 5:31 Brian Kendrick and Paul London Rating: C- Jack Styles vs. Homicide vs. This should have been a classic contest, and maybe would have been in any other company. The match itself was solid despite being given only 5 minutes, but the crowd have no interest in Homicide at all, and are not as into Styles as they were when he won the Cruiserweight Title at Wrestlemania 23. In the end, the right results occurred with Styles hit the Styles Clash on Homicide for the convincing win. Winner at 5:05 Jack Styles Rating: D+ Edge, one of the potential Number One Contenders this Sunday at Summerslam, makes his way to the ring. Edge: What do I have to do to get a bit of recognition and respect? I beat Chris Jericho on Raw this past Monday, but still I hear the whispering backstage. People don’t think I can win at Summerslam, and some people think I might even struggle tonight in my match. They think Val Venis might over-shadow me. Well, I won’t be overshadowed. Val, we will win tonight and I’ll go on to get my Ultimate Wrestling Title match, the one I deserve. Punk, your journey to the title started with a lucky win over me in a Ladder Match, so it’s only fair that I WILL get a title shot. Val, just stay out of my way tonight and prepare yourself for a huge, brutal beating this Sunday. Rating: A 15-Minute Time Limit: Johnny Nitro vs. Bryan Danielson vs. These two put on a solid match that showed that maybe Danielson is slowly becoming ready to be put in a higher position. Management’s faith in Danielson was shown in this match, with him getting in lots of offence and hanging on right until the time limit expired, drawing with Nitro! Johnny Nitro vs. Bryan Danielson ended in a time limit draw at 15:00 Rating: B- Nitro rolls out of the ring and immediately grabs a mic. Nitro: Ric, get out here right now! C’mon Ric, you’ve got a match now, a fight of a life-time. You think that was a challenge? Danielson got lucky, but I still didn’t lose! Flair, get down here to find out who you’re facing! Woooooo! The Nature Boy struts to the ring, with a mic in hand. Flair: Bryan Danielson took you the limit, and don’t even try and paint it any other way, son. Who have you picked for me to face? Nitro: He’s a former US Champion...a former NAIA National Wrestling Champion...a two-time Armed Forces wrestling champion...he banished Kane from Smackdown...you’re facing Bobby Lashley! Rating: B 15-minute Time Limit: Ric Flair vs. Bobby Lashley vs. This was a solid match, but Flair was visibly tiring towards the end. Unlike the Danielson-Nitro match, this one didn’t reach the time limit, with Flair getting a roll up out of nowhere for the win! Winner at 11:25 Ric Flair Rating: B- Flair is celebrating his win, when suddenly Johnny Nitro and Batista hit the ring and attack the Nature Boy from behind. They take it in turns kicking and punching the legend, until he’s hoisted up for a Spinebuster, followed up by a Standing Shooting Star Press by Nitro. The pair continues to beat him down, until Christian hits the ring to save his partner for this Sunday. Christian comes to the ring with a chair and chases off Batista and Nitro. Batista paces the ringside area until Christian, Flair and Nitro have left, before getting back in for his match with Mysterio next! Rating: A Batista vs. Rey Mysterio vs. This wasn’t a fantastic match, but it was still solid, although better is expected from both men. Despite this, the crowd were into the 11-minute match, going insane when Mysterio hit the 619, only to knock Batista into the ref. With the referee out, John Cena ran to the ring and hit a low blow, followed by an F-U! Batista got to his feet and hit a Batista Bomb, just as the ref came to in time to make the count! Winner at 10:52 Batista Rating: B Christian, Booker T and Jushin Thunder Lyger vs. John Cena, Ken Kennedy and Randy Orton && vs. && (w/) A preview of a couple of matches, this was again a good, solid contest, although Booker and Lyger were tiring towards the end of its 16 minute duration. This was still a good match that hyped up the Kennedy-Lyger Best of 3 match this Sunday, and the Booker-Orton match. In the end, Orton got his team the win and the momentum heading into Summerslam after an RKO on Christian. Winners at 15:43 Randy Orton, Ken Kennedy and John Cena Rating: B CM Punk is in the ring for his main event handicap match. Val Venis starts to make his entrance, but half-way down the ramp he’s taken out by Edge! The Rated R Superstar hits an Edgecution onto the steel ramp and gets into the ring to face Punk on his own! Rating: B+ Edge (and Val Venis) vs. CM Punk Edge and Punk have a fantastic but short match, only last 4 minutes until Val Venis hits the ring and the match is re-started as the advertised handicap match. Edge and CM Punk drew at 3:49 Rating: A Edge and Val Venis vs. CM Punk & vs. Punk got in some offence, but the numbers game proved costly. That said, Venis and Edge didn’t work together that much. 5 and a half minutes in, Edge hit a Spear, only to turn into a Spinebuster by Venis! Val climbed to the top rope and hit the Money Shot on Punk, taking out his opponent and potential opponent just days before they meet at Summerslam! Winners at 6:41 Val Venis and Edge Rating: A FINAL RATING: B Success

As always, The Wrestling Report brings you the Pay-Per-View Preview. This month, we've decided to include a little bit about each match to help you in your predictions (which are always welcome). Here's the announced card (including updates from WWE.COM). Dykstra's Decision Match & vs. & Kenny Dykstra's search for a partner continues at Summerslam as he teams with Kensuke Sasaki. Can Sasaki show Dykstra the kind of power and commitment he wants, or will the Hardys make their mark on the PPV that saw the first-ever TLC match 7 years ago? US Title Open Challenge By order of Vince McMahon, as announced on WWE.COM, Paul London will be defending his United States Championship against a yet-to-be-announced opponent. In this Open Challenge, any star from any brand can step up the plate. The possibilities are endless, but who will take their chance at making history? WWE Ultimate Wrestling Championship Number One Contenders Match vs. Val Venis earned a one-on-one match with the champion CM Punk last month at Vengeance: Night of Champions. However, Edge goaded the champ and Venis into giving Edge a chance at a title match. The last month saw this feud become increasingly personal and it will continue tonight. Will the Rated R Superstar get his rematch with Punk (after CM Punk defeated him in a Ladder Match to earn his title match with Randy Orton in the first place), or will Venis finally get a chance to reach the top of the sport? Raw & Smackdown vs. Raw & Smackdown Grudge Match & vs. & Both of these wars have become bitter rivalries the last few weeks. Nitro and Flair have a clear hatred of each other, and Christian vows to not give up until he's knocked Batista out in the middle of a WWE ring. Vince McMahon made this inter-brand tag match to spice up the card a bit. Will this see an end to both rivalries, or is this only the beginning? vs. vs. vs. Umaga and The Undertaker have developed a rivalry of sorts the last few weeks, with Umaga seemingly determined to attack the Dead Man at every opportunity. Meanwhile, the deeply personal and storied history of Shawn Michaels and Triple H reaches its latest plot point. Triple H turned on HBK the night he returned at the end of January, but after HBK "cost" the Cerebral Assassin the victory in the Battle Royal last month at Vengeance, Triple H has been hell-bent on revenge. The cheap-shots and abuse have got to Michaels, who has vowed never to rest until he's beaten Triple H, 1-2-3, in the ring. Will Michaels get his wish tonight, or will one of the other three competitors walk away with a notch in their belt by dealing a blow to their respective rival? vs. These two have been feuding for the last couple of months. The last time they fought one-on-one was at the Great American Bash, with Mysterio getting the win. Since then, Cena has tried to make Mysterio's life hell, costing him a chance at the UWC at Vengeance last month and continually making cheap-shots, both physically and on the mic. Will Rey get his revenge tonight, or will Cena make it 1-1 with the legendary luchador? 2/3 Falls vs. Theodore Long named Lyger as the accepter of Kennedy's Open Challenge a few weeks ago on Smackdown. These two have faced in tag matches over the last month, but Kennedy will definately have his work cut out for him tonight. The match will be fought under traditional luchador rules- Best of 3 Falls wins! A couple of weeks later, Vince McMahon made the match: Orton vs. Booker T for Summerslam. Booker beat Orton and Mike Tyson in a handicap match a couple of weeks ago, but will Randy be able to get the job done when he doesn't need to worry about team-work? Pre-show: Pre-show Battle Royal This featured a wealth of major talent and some jobbers (20 men in total), including- as advertised- Chris Jericho. The final four was Jericho, Bryan Danielson, Bobby Lashley and Montel Vontavious Porter. It was a solid match, and Y2J looked excellent throughout. MVP was thrown out after a double clothesline by Danielson and Jericho. The unpinned Danielson was tossed out next by Lashley, but it is announced after the match that his streak is still intact. After a couple of minutes, Jericho threw Lashley over onto the apron and hit the Triangle Dropkick to win. Winner at 12:12 Chris Jericho Rating: C+ Steve Corino vs. Nick Armaho These two showed no chemistry at all, and it really hurt the match (despite it only being less than 2 minutes). It was nice to see both of them getting a PPV pay-cheque, but they would have been better served wrestling in the battle royal. That said, it could’ve been worse (just not by much), and the right man got the win when Armaho hit the You’re Nicked for the 3-count. Winner at 1:47 Nick Armaho Rating: D+ JR: Welcome to Summerslam 2007! Hello to everyone watching around the world live on pay-per-view, I’m Jim “JR” Ross alongside Jerry “The King” Lawler representing Raw. We’re also joined tonight by Smackdown’s Michael Cole and John “Bradshaw” Layfield. How are you doing, guys? Cole: We’re excited and pumped for Summerslam, especially the Smackdown side of things. We’ve got Paul London defending his United States Title in an Open Challenge, Booker T versus Randy Orton, Jushin Thunder Lyger facing off against Ken Kennedy in a Best of 3 Falls match, Cena-Mysterio and of course the huge Raw and Smackdown vs. Raw and Smackdown Tag Match! JBL: And I really hope Christian and the Nature Boy get what's coming to them. Batista and Nitro are in the prime of their careers and I don't see the match ending in anything but total victory for them. Lawler: That will be an incredible match, but we’re kicking the evening off with another tag match, Raw vs. Raw! Matt and Jeff- The Hardy Boyz- are facing the Intercontinental Champion Kenny Dykstra and Kensuke Sasaki. If Sasaki and Dykstra get the job done, you have to reckon Sasaki will get the job of the champ’s new partner. JR: Well I’d expect so, King. It’d certainly put him in the running. Anyway, both teams are in the ring so let’s get the show started. Dykstra’s Decision Match: Intercontinental Champion Kenny Dykstra and Kensuke Sasaki vs. The Hardy Boyz & vs. & Jeff and Sasaki start the match, and Sasaki starts strong, keeping Jeff grounded with a range of power moves. The heels use quick tags and double teams to isolate the younger Hardy for the first couple of minutes of the match. Jeff starts to fight back with quick kicks and goes for a Hurricarana, but Dykstra holds him and falls back, driving him face-first into the turnbuckle. As we reach the 4th minute, Jeff manages to hit a Headscissor Takedown and makes the hot tag to Matt. Matt charges into the ring and cleans house with crossbodies and forearm smashes to both opponents. He hits the Side Effect on Dykstra, but it isn’t enough to get the win. Dykstra manages to make the tag to Sasaki who uses the power game again. 6 minutes into, Matt starts to fight back, hitting the corner clothesline into a bulldog, also simultaneously hitting a dropkick on Dykstra who tries to interfere. Jeff comes to prevent the numbers game, leading to Poetry in Motion on Sasaki. Matt makes the tag to Jeff, and the last few minutes is full of fast-paced trading of offence between Hardy and the IC Champ. Eventually, Sasaki tries to get involved but he’s taken out with a Whisper in the Wind as Matt hits the Twist of Fate on Dykstra. Jeff gets back up to the top rope and hits the Swanton Bomb for the win! Winners at 8:56 The Hardy Boyz Rating: C+ JR: Matt and Jeff did it! They got the win at the pay-per-view that, seven years ago, saw the first ever TLC Match! It seems quite fitting. But what’s this? The Hardys have left the ring, Sasaki is struggling to his feet and Dykstra has a mic! Dykstra: What...was that? Mr. Sasaki, I need a man who’s strong, I need...a hero. He’s got to be big, he’s got to be strong and he’s got to be larger than life. You showed no such qualities tonight. You were a disgrace. I’m sorry, but there’s NO WAY you will be representing the Kenny Dykstra Corporation. Thanks, but no thanks. Rating: C- Lawler: I can’t say I blame Dykstra! He’s the Intercontinental Champion, he needs to protect his interest and Kensuke Sasaki would have only jeopardised that. JR: I don’t entirely agree, but moving on. It’s not quite time, but in a short while Edge and Val Venis will square off to decide the Number One Contender. That’s right folks, the winner of that match will face the Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk in tonight’s main event! Lawler: It should be off the chain, JR, and I really can’t wait! This could be Venis’ first real shot at the big time, after he earned his chance last month! JR: Indeed Val has already earned a title match, but he’s been goaded into putting it on the line tonight against the Rated R Superstar. Lawler: At the same time, Edge has laid his claim to a title match, because Punk’s road to the top began with a match against Edge for the Number 1 Contender’s spot. JR: Both men would be fitting challengers and would prove a challenge to Punk at the end of the night, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pulling for Val Venis. Regardless of the result, this will be a classic contest and we don’t have to wait much longer. However, first it’s WWE United States Champion Paul London in an Open Challenge. We’ll pass you over to Michael Cole and JBL. Rating: B+ Cole: Thanks guys, and well the champion is in the ring- JBL: The DOUBLE champion, Michael. I don’t particularly like Paul London, but I don’t think it’s fair to forget that not only is he the current US Champion, he’s also one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions. Cole: That’s true John, and I don’t think anyone can forget it. Anyway, the Double Champ is in the ring, who’s his opponent gonna be? I spit in the face of people who don’t want to be cool! Cole: Wow! Raw’s Carlito Caribbean Cool has stepped up to the plate. Folks, don’t forget that this is the only man in history to win the United States and Intercontinental Titles on his respective Smackdown and Raw debuts. London will certainly have his hands full. United States Title Match: Smackdown’s WWE United States and Tag Team Champion Paul London vs. Raw’s Carlito Caribbean Cool vs. The two begin the match exchanging quick arm drags, headlock takedowns and dropkicks until a thumb to the eyes by Carlito allows him to hit a DDT and gain control of the match a couple of minutes in. CCC controls the match briefly with a Sleeper Hold and then a Full Nelson, but London slips out and transitions into a German Suplex, bridging but only getting a 2-count. The champion starts to build momentum towards the 4th minute of the contest, hitting Spinning Wheel Kicks and a Dropsault incredibly into a Moonsault! Carlito hits a Low Blow, unseen by the ref, to get himself back into the match and in the 6th minute he goes for the Backcracker! London’s too close to the ropes though and holds on, leaving Carlito to crash to the mat. The champion takes this opportunity, going to the top rope and delivering an impressive 450 Splash! 1...2...3! London retains the title is a solid match, with the two displaying great chemistry. Winner at 6:42 and STILL WWE United States Champion Paul London! Rating: C+ This Fire Burns blasts over the PA, and the Ultimate Wrestling Champion makes his way to the ring to an insane reception. It takes a while for the crowd noise to die down, but eventually Punk can speak. Punk: Tonight’s the night! Tonight is THE NIGHT! Most people would be worried or concerned about not knowing who they’re facing in a main event World Title match, but my only addiction is competition. I’m addicted to the thrill of the fight, and there’s no bigger fight than a World Title match against an unknown opponent. This rings no truer tonight, when both my potential opponents are such a high calibre. I revel in the opportunity though. I can’t wait to get the chance to really prove myself against either Edge or Val Venis. In Edge, we’ve got a former World Champion and someone who’ll do anything at all to win. This kinda puts me in an awkward position, because I know I’ll have to step up my game to match his un-sportsmanlike conduct. But you see, I could be facing Val Venis *crowd pops insanely*...I know, I know- he’s got your backing. He’s a hugely underrated talent and really deserves his spot. I’ll enjoy this opportunity whatever happens in the next match, so best of luck gentlemen. Rating: A We cut backstage, where Val Venis is in his locker room doing push-ups. After a few, there’s a knock at the door and Punk walks in. Punk: So Val...tonight’s the night. I know I didn’t say it out there, but I’m rooting for you, man. I really hope you kick his ass and it will be an honour to fight a veteran in the main event for this... Punk holds up the Ultimate Wrestling Title, before patting Venis on the back and leaving. Rating: C+ Number One Contender Match: Edge vs. Val Venis vs. Edge started this immediately with an eye rake followed up by a snap Suplex into a cover, but Val kicked out at 1. Edge starts to gain control with cheap-shots and quick strikes, keeping Venis grounded and not letting him get a look in. After 2 minutes of dominance, Edge is taken out by a sudden Clothesline which gives Val the advantage. The veteran starts to build momentum with Clotheslines and Shoulder Blocks. He hits an Irish Whip, taking Edge down with a strong Spinebuster as the Rated R Superstar bounces back. Venis has a minute or two of strong offence, but once again a rake to the eyes gets Edge back into the match 7 minutes in. The Rated R Superstar grounds Venis with the Edge-o-Matic! He keeps the leg hooked, but the 2-time IC Champion kicks out to keep his Number 1 Contender hopes alive. The two superstars get to their feet, but Edge is taken straight down with a Russian Leg Sweep. Venis goes to the top rope, looking to hit the Money Shot but no! He turns round, hinting at a Moonsault. Edge is up, slips behind him and hits the Electric Chair Drop! Edge makes the cover...1...2...no! Venis gets the shoulder up as we reach the 9th minute. The two begin to exchange punches in the middle of the ring, with the crowd cheering every strike Venis lands and booing any of Edge’s that meet their target. The atmosphere is electric and the crowd go insane when Venis blocks one of the Rated R Superstar’s punches and knocks him to the mat. The former Big Valbowski locks in the Venis Fly Trap on Edge, who struggles to get to the ropes. After a while in the painful hold, Edge reaches the bottom rope, but is pulled back into the middle of the ring. The Rated R Superstar manages to break the Trap, before kicking Venis’ leg from under him and locking in the Edgecution! Venis is screaming in agony as the match gets into the 12th minute, with the crowd willing him to reach the ropes. A couple of times he does, but both times Edge drags him to the centre of the squared circle, increasing the pressure. Eventually, Venis reaches and holds onto the bottom rope and after a count of 4 Edge releases the hold, following up with a slap to the face. The two continue to trade offence into the 14th minute, when Edge goes for a Spear. Venis side-steps, sending Edge into the turnbuckle, bouncing back into a Spinebuster. Val climbs up to the top rope...Money Shot! 1...2...3! Venis, although clearly tiring toward the end, wins an incredible contest Winner at 15:35 and now Number One Contender for the Ultimate Wrestling Title Val Venis! Rating: A Val Venis is celebrating his win, when CM Punk hits the ring and embraces his new Number One Contender, raising his hand as they celebrate together before their huge main event match later on tonight. Rating: B+ JR: Val Venis gets a career win against adversary Edge, but up next it’s a massive Inter-brand tag match! I’m going to be calling the action with Smackdown’s John “Bradshaw” Layfield. JBL: This should be a highlight of night. Smackdown and Raw team up against Smackdown and Raw! JR: That’s right. We’ve got Smackdown’s Batista teaming up with Raw superstar Johnny Nitro against his Raw rival Ric Flair and his partner, Smackdown’s own Christian. This should be a real slobberknocker and I’m sure fans around the world will be the winners here! Batista and Johnny Nitro vs. Christian and Ric Flair & vs. & Batista looks ready to start the match for his team, but immediately tags out when Christian steps up for his. Nitro and Christian lock up and start to wrestle a fairly basic, technical match that remains open and even for the first couple of minutes, until Batista distracts the ref, allowing Nitro to gain control with a low blow. The heels isolate Christian for a minute or so, using quick tags, until an Enziguri on Nitro allows the hot tag to be made. Flair charges across the ring but is met by a devastating Spinebuster by the illegal Batista. We get into the 4th minute, and Batista tags in. Flair immediately pokes him in the eye and tags in Christian, choosing to wait to fight his protégé. Christian unleashes a barrage of punches on Batista, knocking him down and being unrelenting in his attack. The referee is forced to drag Christian away and warn him, giving Batista the opening to hit a Spear out of nowhere. 1...2...no, Christian gets the shoulder up. Batista pulls him to his feet...Spinebuster! 1...2...wow! Christian kicks out again, but Batista follows up with a massive Batista Bomb! One...two...thr- no! Somehow Christian is still kicking out as we reach the 6th minute of the match. Nitro is tagged in, but runs right into a Drop Toe Hold. Captain Charisma tags in Flair, who comes face to face with his rival. The two brawl and try to take each other out with cheap-shots, and Flair very nearly gets the win with a school boy, using the tights. The match reaches the 8 minute mark, as Flair makes the tag to Christian. Nitro runs and tags in Batista, who looks irritated at having to face Christian again. The two start to brawl again, and Christian manages to bust Batista open after a dozen shots to the skull, followed by an Unprettier! The Animal looks beat, but Nitro makes the save for his team! Christian starts to argue with Johnny, but he’s spun round by a nearly-dead Batista! A Powerbomb is followed by Batista hoisting Christian up again onto his shoulders, leading to a Batista Bomb! 1...2...3! Batista gets the win, but as he celebrates Christian drills him with a chair, leaving the exclamation point on a solid contest. Winners at 9:54 Batista and Johnny Nitro Rating: B Cole: Well, I’m proud because the Smackdown stars were the ones who brought this to an end, but I hate that Batista got the win over Christian. That said, Captain Charisma put up a hell of a fight and did get the final word, doing what he said he would do. Lawler: Will Punk do what he said he would do, and walk out still our champion in the main event tonight? Cole: Well, we now know it will be friends Val Venis and CM Punk fighting in the main event for the Ultimate Wrestling Champion. Val Venis has achieved a career dream by defeating Edge earlier in the night to earn his shot at CM Punk’s Ultimate Wrestling Title. Venis now has a chance of a life-time: a World Title, main event match at Summerslam. It doesn’t get much bigger than this, and whichever of these men walk out the winner, we’re sure to be in for an incredible- Rating: B+ Cole is interrupted as the mic is cut out, the arena lights dim and the screen shows white noise again. When it comes on, we’re shown Titan Towers, WWE HQ in Stamford. As the camera pans back, a silhouette can be seen on top of the building with a crow on his shoulder. The man holds up his arm and a bolt of lightning strikes, leaving the man standing on top of the building, either side of him a wall of flames. The screen cuts immediately into the next video package. Rating: B+ A video plays hyping Shawn Michaels vs. Umaga vs. Triple H vs. The Undertaker. It shows part of the long, storied history of Michaels and Triple H, but largely focuses on events since the Game’s return in January. Umaga and Taker’s recent rivalry is shown as well, including a Press Conference announcement (previously only seen on WWE.COM) by Eric Bischoff making this match. Rating: A* Shawn Michaels vs. Umaga vs. Triple H vs. The Undertaker vs. vs. vs. As soon as the bell rings, everyone pairs with their respective rival. Triple H immediately takes down HBK with a strong right, as Undertaker is taken out with a stiff kick by the Samoan Bulldozer. The heels dominate their adversaries in the early goings, Triple H working on the surgically repaired spine and knees of Michaels whilst Umaga unleashes his power on the Dead Man. As the match reaches the 6th minute, HBK hits the Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere, sending Triple H over the rope to the floor. Michaels hits another Superkick, this time on The Undertaker, sending him down to the mat. The Showstopper goes to make it a hat-trick, but Umaga ducks the kick. HBK turns around, only to be met with a Samoan Spike. The ref starts to make the count, but Triple H drags Umaga off at the last possible moment. Triple H and Undertaker start to trade blows in the middle of the ring, as Umaga goes to toss Michaels over the top. Michaels holds on, pulling himself back in and hitting a superb headscissors over the top. He gets back in the ring, runs and hits a perfect plancha onto a staggering Samoan Bulldozer. As this happens, a Chokeslam is reversed into a knee-smash, followed by a kick to the gut...Pedigree! Triple H takes a moment to taunt his fallen opponents and the fans, but his pride turns to horror when he turns to see The Undertaker sat up, staring at The Game. An attempt at a swift kick is ducked and Aitch turns into a goozle. The Dead Man holds on as he gets to his feet...Chokeslam! 1...2...Umaga’s in to break the fall. We’re 10 minutes into the match as Umaga hits a Samoan Spike on Triple H, followed by another on Michaels. The Samoan Bulldozer goes for a third on his nemesis, but is met with a Big Boot. The Dead Man looks almost shocked when the shot merely staggers Umaga, but the subsequent move leaves the entire arena in shock. Undertaker manages to hoist Umaga up and hit a huge Last Ride! He goes for the cover...1...2...no, Umaga gets the shoulder up. As the match reaches its 12th minute, it’s a free-for-all, with all four men taking out each other with quick strikes and take-downs. This continues for a minute until Triple H hits the Pedigree on Umaga! He goes to make the cover but is Chokeslammed over the top. Undertaker then turns around, only to be hit with a Superkick! HBK goes up top and hits the Diving Elbow Drop to pick up the win! The fans give all four men a standing ovation after 15 minutes of the best wrestling action featuring four of the top stars in the world. Winner at 14:36 Shawn Michaels! Rating: A* The bell rings, and Undertaker sits up. Taker and HBK have a stare down, before shaking hands, showing a surprising mutual respect. However, this moment doesn’t last long, because they’re taken out from behind by their respective rivals. Umaga drills Undertaker with a steel chair as a sledgehammer meets HBK’s spine by way of Triple H’s swinging arms. The heels beat down and brutalise their rivals and the Cerebral Assassin leaves before the Samoan Bulldozer has a chance to make any further impact. Rating: B+ Cole: That was a fantastic offering from Raw, and I don’t envy our next competitors with having to follow it! JBL: Michael, we’re talking about two of the best wrestlers in the history of the WWE though! John Cena is one hell of a brawler that will do anything to win- Cole: Including turning his back on all the fans! JBL: It’s given his career new life, Cole, so shut your mouth! Cole: He’ll have his hands full tonight though, facing off with the luchadors innovator, the man largely credited with bringing his style to North America, Rey Mysterio. Both men are in the ring, let’s take you to the action. Rey Mysterio vs. John Cena vs. As soon as the bell rings, Mysterio charges and hits a Hurricarana. Cena comes out of the move and immediately slips out of the ring, pacing around and kicking the steps in frustration. Cena looks enraged, throwing around anything not attached to the floor, but slips back in just before the 10-count is reached. The opening minutes follow this pattern, with Cena gaining the upper-hand only to lose out to Mysterio’s athleticism, so he’s forced to back down to take a breather. We see the first 619 attempt only 4 minutes in, but Cena ducks and follows up with the Throwback, driving Mysterio face-first into the mat. The Doctor of Thuganomics starts to pound Mysterio’s back and head before delivering a brutal Curb Stomp, drawing heat from the crowd. John Cena starts to build some momentum going into the 7th minute, hitting a few stiff Clotheslines and then a Spinning Back Suplex. Cena gets the crowd booing him again as he does his “You Can’t See Me” routine, but he’s met with a dropkick to the knee as he bounces back, sending him to the middle hope. The 619 connects this time, but Cena catches the Springboard Seated Senton attempt, turning it into an FU! Mysterio manages to turn the move into an Arm Drag though, forcing Cena to bail out of the ring again. Mysterio tries to take his rival down with some kicks to the thigh, in the end opting for a running Crossbody instead. Cena rolls through though, picking Mysterio up for another FU...this one connects! 1...2...no! On the 10-minute mark, Mysterio somehow gets the shoulder up! John runs to kick Rey in the skull as revenge, but is sent to the middle rope again with a Drop Toe Hold. 619 hits...Springboard Splash! 1...2...almost! Cena powers out at the last second and goes back on the offence, kicking Mysterio’s leg from under him. Rey goes to hit a Springboard Dropkick 12 minutes in, but Cena ducks and the ref takes the full force of the blow! The Doctor of Thuganomics slips out of the ring and gets back in with a steel chair! He drills Rey in the head and then knee, before locking in the STFU! Rey is in pain and most definitely in trouble, in the centre of the ring with nowhere to go. Rey lasts nearly a minute in the hold, with the crowd loving every minute of the drama, but eventually he has to tap out. Cena wins a fantastic bout between the two that had the fans gripped from start to finish. Winner at 13:55 John Cena! Rating: A* JBL: I knew it, Michael! I knew Cena would get the job done! Cole: He needed a steel chair to do it! JBL: He didn’t NEED anything, he just wanted to punish Rey even more, which is great! I’m hoping Ken Kennedy makes it 2-for-2 against the luchadors up next. Cole: Well it’ll take more than one fall to beat Jushin Thunder Lyger, because the match is a 2 out of 3 Falls Match! This is the norm in Mexico, so Lyger will be used to having to endure it. Kennedy isn’t experienced in this, so he should try and end this early. 2/3 Falls: Ken Kennedy vs. Jushin Thunder Lyger vs. The legendary Jushin Lyger starts the match strong against Kennedy, hitting a German Suplex almost immediately after ducking a Clothesline at the bell. Lyger builds momentum with Arm Drags and quick kicks to take Kennedy down, but a missed Rolling Wheel Kick allows Kennedy to put the legend in a Sleeper Hold to gain the advantage. By the 4th minute, Kennedy has solidly gained control of the match, wisely keeping the luchador grounded with a Forward Russian Leg Sweep into an Arm Lock. Lyger slips out though and follows up with a Dropkick, sending Kennedy to the mat. Jushin goes up the top rope and goes to hit the move he created, the Shooting Star Press...it connects! 1...2...Kennedy rolls through with a handful of tights...1...2...3! Kennedy steals the first fall 6 minutes into the match. Ken Kennedy dominates the next 2 or 3 minutes, with strikes and suplexes, until Lyger hits the Lyger Bomb! Kennedy looks beaten...1...2...no! Lyger looks shocked that Kennedy managed to kick out. He follows up with a Basement Dropkick and starts to rebuild his momentum from earlier on. In the 11th minute, Lyger goes for a Brainbuster from the top rope, but Kennedy manages to turn it into a Green Bay Plunge! He goes back up to the top rope...Kenton Bomb! 1...2...3! Kennedy gets the second and final fall in the match, decisively winning a decent match with the luchador legend. Winner at 12:15 by two straight falls Ken Kennedy! Rating: B Randy Orton vs. Booker T (w/) vs. Booker T is the first in the ring and doesn’t take his eyes off Randy Orton or Mike Tyson at all. Once Orton gets in the ring, Booker’s gaze at Tyson is broken only to concentrate on Orton. If looks could kill, Booker would be winning a Buried Alive Match right now! The former Ultimate Wrestling Champ goes to lock up, but is met with a stiff right, followed by a series of chops, punches and stops, grounding the Legend Killer. Booker’s offence isn’t pretty, but he dominates the opening few minutes, clearly looking for revenge against Orton. Randy starts to fight back as we reach the 4th minute, hitting a European Uppercut that sends Booker down. The Legend Killer goes to the top rope, looks for the Crossbody...Booker ducks out of the way. The ref goes to check on Orton, who looks to be in pain. Tyson hops onto the apron and spins Booker around before drilling him with a brutal punch to the temple. Not surprisingly, Orton is suddenly fine again and jumps up to make the cover...1...2...no! Booker gets the shoulder up as Tyson and Orton stare in shock. Orton immediately goes back on the offence with some stomps to the gut, before backing up, looking for the Punt Kick! He charges, kicks...his foot is caught! Booker sends him flat, face-up on the mat and follows up with a barrage of punches before lifting him up...Book End! No, Orton elbows his way out and goes for the RKO...Booker pushes him out of the way, kick to the gut...Scissors Kick attempt is ducked but a Clothesline nearly takes Orton’s head off 10 minutes in. The two start to have an all-out brawl, and Booker starts to gain the upper hand, only for Tyson to shout something. Booker turns, warns him and turns into a brutal RKO. Orton makes the cover...1...2...3! The Legend Killer gets a convincing, decisive win in a fantastic 13-minute showcase. Winner at 12:56 Randy Orton Rating: A* A recap of the history of the WWE UWC is shown. The Undertaker, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Mike Tyson, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Edge and Val Venis are all featured. Rating: B+ Cole: Well, it’s time for the main event. That’s how the Ultimate Wrestling Title got to where it is tonight- being fought for by CM Punk and Val Venis. I’m going to be calling tonight’s main event with Raw’s own Jerry “The King” Lawler. King, which way do you see this going? Lawler: Part of me is really pulling for Val Venis, not only because he’s a Raw star but also because he’s a veteran that has worked long and hard for this chance! I’d hate to see him go down, at least without a fight! Cole: Well, judging from the look in Venis’ eyes, I don’t expect to see him put in anything less than 100% here. This is his first real chance at the big time, his first chance to prove to the world he can hang with the best, and I’m sure he’ll impress. WWE Ultimate Wrestling Title Match: WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk vs. Val Venis vs. The match begins with a stare-down, and the atmosphere is electric. The fans clearly love both these men, and already duelling “Let’s Go Punk” and “Let’s Go Venis” chants can be heard. The noise is deafening and the crowd applaud as the two fan-favourites shake hands embrace before locking up. Venis is the first to gain an advantage, taking Punk down with an Arm Drag into an Arm Lock, wrenching back on the arm. The champion slips out but his Clothesline attempt is ducked. Venis goes for the DDT, but Punk slips out from the Facelock and puts the challenger in a Full Nelson. Venis powers out and goes behind for a German Suplex, but the champ flips out, pushing Venis into the ropes and rolling back into a Roll Up, but Venis kicks out. The two pause for breath and are met with a great reception for their great display. The two can’t be separated for the opening 3 or 4 minutes, with constant reversals and takedowns with neither man being able to gain a clear advantage over the other. Eventually, as the match reaches its 4th minute, Punk manages to hit a few quick kicks, finishing with a roundhouse kick that sends the veteran to the mat. Punk quickly gets on the top rope, but his Flying Clothesline attempt is caught and reversed into a Bodyslam! Venis staggers after this, clearly feeling the pain in his legs from the Edgecution he was locked in earlier in the night. By the 7th minute, Punk is starting to get in control, working on the legs. Venis charges to try and mount on attack, but the Straight Edge Champion hits him with a quick Powerslam, only getting the 2-count though. The pattern of one-upmanship continues for a few more minutes, with the match once again being totally open and neither man getting much momentum. Eventually, a Spinebuster sends the champion down, but the follow-up Money Shot attempt is countered with knees to the gut. Punk then hoists a hurt Val Venis onto his shoulders and goes for the GTS! No, Venis manages to hit a clubbing blow to the back of the head on his way down and hits a Fisherman Suplex. The challenger goes up top...but Punk’s up with him! The two men trade blows...Pepsi Plunge! The crowd go insane, having never seen the move on WWE TV before. The champion goes for the cover midway through the 12th minute...1...2...no! Venis keeps himself in the match, getting his foot on the bottom rope. By the 15th minute, Venis takes Punk goes with a Northern Lights Suplex, following up with a successful Money Shot! One...two...new champ- no! The champion somehow gets the shoulder up as Val looks shocked that Punk kicked out of his best move. The Venis Fly Trap is immediately locked in, but after a while Punk slips out and the two get to their feet, but the challenger is immediately dropped to the mat, locked in the Anaconda Vice! The challenger struggles to get out, reaching the rope a couple of times but being dragged to the middle of the ring. After a minute in the hold, Val manages to somehow power out, only to be met with a dropkick on the 17 minute mark. Punk has spell of dominance for the next 3 minutes, taking the challenger down with Martial Arts strikes and holds. Venis manages to push the champion away and runs at him...but he’s scooped up onto Punk’s shoulders! Go to Sleep connects! 1...2...wow! Venis somehow kicks out of the GTS 21 minutes into the match. The emotion is high for the following few minutes, with constant near-falls and quick attacks. Just as Venis is about to hit the Money Shot in the 24th minute, with Punk knocked out cold on the mat, Edge’s music hits. Although he doesn’t come out, Venis is distracted on the top rope. The music cuts out, and Punk slowly staggers to his feet, not knowing what happened. When Val turns back round, Punk pulls him off onto his shoulders and hits a GTS! 1...2...3! Punk retains the title in a classic match that will go down in history as one of the best. Winner at 25:54 and STILL WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk! Rating: A* FINAL RATING: B+ Success!

Cheers for the comment, anything you particularly liked/didn't like about it? Also, any Raw predictions? I know it's taken a while but I've finally got round to writing it up, about half way through so this should be up by the end of the week. I know that's gonna be a long way between shows, but I've got a survey/article to do and write up for my journalism degree tomorrow, plus an interview with Funeral For A Friend tomorrow, then a full day of uni on Thursday. I'll work on this in between, but this is basically my busiest week.
