WWE: Time To Play The Game...for now...

Pre-show: Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Jimmy Jacobs It’s sad that Scotty has gone from having a decent run beating some well-established former champs like JBL and Gregory Helms (which included a Cruiserweight Title run that ended at Wrestlemania 23), to competing in a 5 minute pre-show match. The fans don’t really care enough about either wrestler at this stage, but it was still a passable match. Jacobs secured a win over a relative veteran of the WWE when he hit the Contra Code for the 3-count. Winner at 5:31 Jimmy Jacobs Rating: D+ Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Unnamed This was a solid match, but the crowd seem to be starting to cheer for MVP, which isn’t the reaction creative seem to be going for. Either way, both Porter and the still-unidentified wrestler put on a decent dark match that went for 10 minutes, until MVP was forced to tap out to a Sharpshooter variation. Winner at 10:27 Unnamed Rating: C+ Cole: Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown! I’m Michael Cole with John Layfield, and we’ve got a stacked card tonight! Not only have we got a Double Champion in Brian Kendrick facing a former Cruiserweight champ in Jack Styles, but we’ve got a huge main event featuring CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and John Cena! JBL: But that’s not all, Michael! Mr. McMahon is in the arena tonight and apparently has something to say! This should be interesting. Homicide vs. Matt Sydal vs. Homicide’s fellow Cop Killa B-Boy was at ringside, but this match was too short for him to become involved. These two don’t click in the ring, but the match was short enough that it was still solid. They had a very brief but open contest, but the Here it is Driver gave Sydal the win before the 2-minute mark. Winner at 1:42 Matt Sydal Rating: C Vince McMahon comes out to make a highly anticipated appearance. He gets to the ring at the atmosphere is fantastic, with people wondering what he has to say. Vince: First of all, to everyone watching around the world, welcome to Friday Night Smackdown. Now, on to business...people have been asking me all week about No Mercy. We know that the WWE Ultimate Wrestling Title will be defended by CM Punk against William Regal at Cyber Sunday, but we still don’t have a title defence scheduled for CM Punk this month. Rest assured, that WILL change, I just can’t confirm now. Punk, there’s a shift in this business coinciding with your title reign, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that you’re the one causing the change. You’ve done well, but I’m tired of the General Managers giving title shots to people who haven’t earned them, when there is a wealth of talented individuals just off the radar who deserve the gold more than you do. I’m taking back my company, Punk...it’s not tonight, it’s not even this month, but the Crusade is coming and your days are numbered. I’m not going to be out here in a WWE ring three nights a week plugging this or hyping it up, but it is coming, I promise you that. No Mercy will simply decide whether you’re the focus of- Rating: B+ CM Punk’s music hits and the champion comes out to the stage to a fantastic response from the electric crowd. Punk: If that’s supposed to intimidate me, your so-called “crusade” is failing already, Vince. I fought through a former boxing World Champion as well as the current Ultimate Wrestling Champion to get this title, and I’m not giving it up to some stupid mind games. I don’t care what you’ve got planned for me after No Mercy, because all I focus on is the next match and the next title defence. There is no-one that deserved my title opportunity more than I did, not JBL, not Edge, not even Triple H. I fought hard to gain this title, and I’m going to fight hard to retain it, week after week, month after month. Bring your best Vince, but you won’t be bringing the title away from my waist. Rating: A Non-title: WWE Cruiserweight and Tag Team Champion Brian Kendrick vs. Jack Styles vs. This week, Styles got a match against the man who won the title off him. They put on a good match that kept the fans involved, flying around the ring but also doing some nice mat-based wrestling. After just over 5 minutes, Styles got the pin on the Double Champion with a Spiral Tap! Winner at 5:30 Jack Styles Rating: C+ We cut backstage where Rob Van Dam is standing by. RVD: I came so close to getting my first World Title main event since 2006. I was facing five of the best this company has, but I just missed out. That said, I think I’m doing alright with my latest Smackdown run so far. I wanted to take this chance to warn Bobby Lashley that- Ken Kennedy slips into the frame and just stares and Van Dam, looking confused. RVD: ......can I help- Kennedy: I think I’ve missed something. You’re cutting a promo hyping up that you LOST the 6-way at Unforgiven? You’re trying to hype up yourself by saying you’re doing “alright” so far? I’m sorry, but that can’t be right? RVD: I didn’t even see you in the running for the Number One Contenders spot, Kennedy. Last I checked, you weren’t even in the qualifying matches. Kennedy: And THAT was a grave oversight. Listen...here’s a little secret. Everyone knows that I deserved that spot much more than you did. Hell, I was the one who beat The Undertaker- Rob Van Dam: In his last match on Smackdown. We all know the story Kennedy, but that was the first week of the year, so get over it. Rating: C+ Kennedy turns away looking hurt before spinning round, and going to hit Van Dam in the head. The ECW original ducks though, and Kennedy turns right into a Side Kick that sends him down! Rating: C+ La Resistance vs. The Superheroes & vs. & This was a good match that further went to strengthen The Superheroes reputation as a good new team. La Resistance are former champions and fairly well-established, and this was a solid, even contest between all four men. Chris Hero came out of this looking good, but 7 minutes in it was a Shining Wizard from his partner that picked up the win on Sylvain Grenier. Winners at 7:06 The Hurricane and Chris Hero Rating: C- Batista is backstage with a mic. Batista: By the end of tonight, my latest victim will be revealed to you all. I disposed of Booker T at Summerslam, and now I’m looking ahead to No Mercy. This is just a notice to all my...amigos in the back...from the tallest to the very smallest, from the bravest to the scared punks...any one of you could be next. Rating: B Jushin Thunder Lyger vs. Finlay vs. This was a good, solid match between two of the best veterans of all-time. Both are fantastic wrestlers, and they put on a decent mid-card match for the fans. After 7 and a half minutes of good mat-based action, Finlay rolled up Lyger with a handful of tights for the win! Winner at 7:32 Finlay Rating: C Non-title: WWE United States and Tag Team Champion Paul London vs. D’Lo Brown vs. These two weren’t given a lot of time to work with, but they did well with the 4 minutes they were given. Brown hasn’t done much of note since he returned, but this was still a solid non-title match to give the Double Champ a boost. London got the win with a 450 Splash. Winner at 3:55 Paul London Rating: C- Batista’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring, giving the fans their second sight of him this evening. He is dressed in a sharp suit with shades on, looking like he means business. Batista: Earlier tonight, I told you all that you would find out my next victim. Let’s just take a look at what I said...
Batista: Yup...I think I made it pretty clear. Listen...amigo...you’re not the biggest in this business, but it’s said you’ve got the biggest heart, the biggest drive to get the job done. Well, you won’t be even making it No Mercy if I’ve got anything to do with it, amigo. I’ve made this fairly obvious...Rey Mysterio, just watch out, ok? We used to be friends, and I want to make you know that none of my victims, none of my attacks have been personal...until now. We’re former Tag Team Champions, but now I’m trying to get back to the top of the mountain, but you’ve getting a main event match tonight. All you do is hide behind a mask, and I’m going to destroy you, but you won’t know when. Let’s just hope you make it to No Mercy, I’d hate for you to get injured before our big dance... Rating: B+ Bobby Lashley vs. Rob Van Dam vs. This match surprisingly passed without incident, with Ken Kennedy not making an appearance. It wasn’t as good as expected; for some reason this just wasn’t the standard expected for the upper tier of the WWE. Lashley worked the part of the big power-house well to compliment RVD’s high-risk, quick style. In the end, speed beat power when a Five Star Frog Splash left Lashley down for the pin 7 minutes in. Winner at 6:55 Rob Van Dam Rating: C+ William Regal comes out for this match against Christian to an incredible amount of heat, getting one of the biggest reactions of the night so far! Regal: Thank you, thank you...it really means a lot that you were all able to support a foreigner defeating the best the Americas had to offer. I fought hard and fairly, and I’m standing here in front of you as your TRUE Number One Contender. I’m facing Christian next, and I just want to see...sunshine, you don’t have a good chance at all. I do apologise, but I’m a valiant knight...and you’re a peasant. You can try to take me down until Big bloody Ben strikes midnight, but you won’t get a fairytale ending to tonight’s match. I’m going to beat you within the first couple of minutes, I’m sure of it. Moving on from that, in just less than two months time, I’m fighting for the WWE Ultimate Wrestling Title at Cyber Sunday. I fought well to earn this chance, and I’ll bloody take it, let me promise you that. CM Punk, we have a lot in common. Neither of us indulge in the disgusting beverage known as beer, and neither of us do drugs or encourage promiscuity, but there’s one difference. I don’t base a career off my morals, sunshine. I base it off being able to fight, and I will defeat you at Cyber Sunday...if you’re even the champion by then! Best of look to you, but it’s probably in your best interests not to stand between me and the title anyway. Rating: A William Regal vs. Christian vs. Christian certainly put on a much better showing than Regal anticipated, nearly beating the Great Brit a number of times before Regal could even get a move in. Once the match settled down, it was a fantastic mat-based effort, with both men showing why Smackdown has become an equal, if not superior, brand to Raw this year. After nearly 11 minutes of brilliant, exciting action, a rake to the eyes led to a Regal Cutter to give the Number One Contender for Cyber Sunday the win. Winner at 10:33 William Regal Rating: B+ Non-title: WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio vs. vs. One of the main stories of this match was Mysterio constantly worrying about Batista attacking him, with Cena taking advantage of this and Punk trying to fight fair. These three combined to put on an absolutely incredible main event, given the 16 minutes they had to work with. Had the quality of matches in the main event of most shows not been so high this year, this could easily have been a MOTYC. Regardless, it was exciting action, coming to an interesting end. 13 minutes in, John Cena hit a Neckbreaker on Punk, but was met with a Hurricarana that sent him out of the ring. With Rey standing tall, Batista’ music hit! Rey stared at the stage, but the music cut out. By this time, Punk was staggering to his feet, not knowing what had just happened. Mysterio was spun round...Go To Sleep! Punk gets the win after an absolute classic. Winner at 15:39 CM Punk Rating: A Cena and Punk have left, and Rey just about pulls himself up on the ropes... when Batista’s music hits! This time The Animal does come out, running straight to the ring and nearly decapitating Mysterio with a Clothesline. He unleashes on Rey, hitting a Spear, Spinebuster and finally a Batista Bomb. With Rey seemingly out of it, Batista tries in pull his mask off! Mysterio just manages to hit a low blow and slip out of the ring as security run out to separate the two former WWE Tag Team Champions as the show comes to an end! Rating: A* FINAL RATING: B+ Success

I’m Jim Ross with Jerry “The King” Lawler and what a show! Lawler: World Tag Team Titles on the line, Edge and Umaga against Val Venis, Shane McMahon versus Shawn Michaels... JR: Bryan Danielson, a protégé of the Heartbreak Kid, is on a fantastic streak since Wrestlemania, competing on all three brands and he still hasn’t lost since Wrestlemania 23! He faces his biggest challenge yet tonight, going one-on-one with the Great One, it’s Danielson vs. The Rock. Also, CM Punk will face The Undertaker in our main event in non-title action. We’re kicking things off with a bang, here comes Shawn Michaels! HBK gets in the ring, but he isn’t dressed to compete. He gets a microphone from ringside. I realise some people may be a little nervous after Triple H was pinned by me two nights in a row, but I think someone should be man enough to accept this opportunity. You heard the fans when my music hit, right? Now, does the entire WWE locker room really want to deny the fans at No Mercy a chance to see me in action? Let’s just recap...I’m a two-time Royal Rumble winner, four-time tag champ, I’ve won the Intercontinental Title three times, hell I’m a four-time World Champion! I was the first-ever Grand Slam champion, but most importantly...I put in one hundred and twenty percent every single time I’m in the ring for all of you. I heard the challenge last week, but after my match I was heading straight back home to get training for my match tonight...with The Rock! I’m here now though, and I’m here to accept your Open Challenge for No Mercy. We’ve never faced on pay-per-view, but here’s our chance Shawn! You’re on a roll at the moment, you beat Triple H at Unforgiven! I’ve been on a roll since Wrestlemania, and I think now’s the time to seize the opportunity! What do you say...Teacher vs. Student, Shawn Michaels vs. Bryan Danielson at No- Rating: B+ Michaels: What do I say? I say...I’m proud of what you’ve achieved in this company so far, but don’t be too disappointed when I end your streak at No Mercy. Danielson: Best of look to you, but I’m not at the stage I was when you trained me. I’ve worked all over the world and finally I made it to the WWE. Don’t take any of this personally, Shawn, because I do respect you. This is a dream match for all the fans and for me...let’s not ruin this by making it more personal than it needs to be. We don’t need a big feud for this to work, Shawn. Just shake my hand and bring your A-Game to No Mercy and we’ll have the match of the year! Michaels: You know what.........let’s tear the house down! The two shake hands and embrace again, but then Eric Bischoff’s music hits! I can’t do anything about that tonight, but next week I will. You two will be competing in a WWE ring at the time...for the FIRST time ever. Don’t worry, I’m not putting you against each other one-on-one...that’d be bad for business, that WILL wait until No Mercy. No, next week you two will team up. Let’s see just how great this relationship is when you face the man Bryan Danielson defeated last week and the man that beat The Undertaker at Unforgiven. Next week, it will be Bryan Danielson and Shawn Michaels facing The Corporation...Charlie Haas...and Umaga! Now get the hell out of my ring until your scheduled matches. I pride myself on coming out here every chance I get and putting on the best technical display that both the fans and the wrestlers in the back will ever see. Finlay: Rest assured, I will STILL be a big part of this company, but I think it’s time I started to step back and let the legends of tomorrow take over. However...I’m not ready to walk down that aisle for the last time just yet. I will be retiring in a month, but I’ve got a request. I would appreciate a Farewell Tour, to get to wrestle on every show for the next month, in some capacity. Then, I will walk away and pass the torch. Vince McMahon walks out, without his music. You’ve given so much to this company over the years, whether it’s been helping train many of the talented individuals on this roster or whether it’s been putting on incredible matches, night in, night out, every time you’ve stepped in this ring since your first match in the 1970s. I apologise fully that due to conflicts, you won’t be able to compete on every SINGLE show for the next month. However...with the exception of two dates, everyone at a WWE show for the next month WILL see Dave Finlay compete on the...let’s called it a Finlay Farewell Tour. To honour everything you’ve done for this business, this tour begins tonight and will continue until week after No Mercy. We’re gonna kick this off right now! Finlay, thank you for all you’ve done. Jericho and Finlay have both spent their careers constantly striving to put on the best matches every time they step in the ring. Whilst Finlay is obviously very close to the end of his career, this was still a good match showing why he’s held in such high regard. After 10 minutes of solid action, a shillelagh shot kicked off the tour, although it gave Jericho the win by disqualification. Finlay celebrated briefly before leaving the ring, kicking off his last four weeks as an active wrestler. Winner at 10:32 by DQ Chris Jericho Rating: B Bryan Danielson vs. The Rock vs. This turned into an absolutely incredible contest out of nowhere. Danielson is a phenomenal wrestler, but this was the first true test to see if he can hang with the best in the eyes of the fans. Both men did their best to make this a highly memorable match, and The Rock sold for Danielson like he was on his level. After a fast-paced sequence of finisher reversals and nearly 17 minutes of action, a DDT reversal from a Rock Bottom left both men down and exhausted, unable to beat the 10-count from the referee. Bryan Danielson and The Rock drew at 16:49 when the referee was forced to end the match. Rating: A We cut backstage, where Triple H is standing by. I know it’s not really a secret that I don’t like you at all, so you made a mistake challenging me last week. I proved it was a mistake immediately after, taking you out and beating you down. I’m insulted that you’re allowed to be in this business, let alone in World Title matches. It’s personally insulting that you’ve been given opportunities that I deserve, not you. You never were, and never will be, anything more than a sideshow curtain jerker. People said you’ve had a good year so far...I say you’ve had a series of flukes. Val...at No Mercy, it’s Time...to Play the Game! Rating: B- Shane McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Shane’s really stepped up his game whenever he’s called to compete this year, and this was no different. However, it was the Showstopper who but in a good stand-out performance in this near-9-minute match that continued the good trend the whole show has followed this week. After a good, solid contest Michaels scored the win after the Superkick. Winner at 8:33 Shawn Michaels Rating: B Val Venis vs. Edge and Umaga vs. & Whilst there wasn’t really any under-lining storylines for this match, the fans were still really into it. It featured three of the best talents in the company at the moment, and definitely exceeded expectations. Venis got in a lot of offence until the ending which came in the 10th minute. Edge (the legal man) distracted the referee long enough for a Samoan Spike to send Venis down. As Val staggered to his feet, Edge hit a Spear out of nowhere to steal the win. Winners at 10:45 Edge and Umaga Rating: A Edge gets a mic after Umaga and Venis had left ringside. Edge: I’m calling an impromptu Cutting Edge now, for the first time in 2007! I’m your host, the sexy beast, the living legend, Y2J, the Ayatollah and Rock ‘n’ Rolla...Raw Is Jericho, baby! Tonight, the Highlight Reel returns once again to Monday Night Raw, but I want to apologise because my guest is, quite frankly, largely irrelevant after losing yet another title opportunity at Unforgiven- sorry Edge...is there a problem? Look, grab a mic and make yourself comfortable, because it’s time we had a chat... Edge gets a mic and starts to speak... Edge: Who the hell do you- Jericho: WOULD YOU PLEASE...SHUT...THE HELL...UP! Edge, I know you said this was the return of the Cutting Edge, but I’m sorry, it’s not. No-one wants to see that, just like these people are sick and tired of seeing you bitch and moan week in, week out about- Edge: About what? About unfairly being SCREWED out of title opportunity after title opportunity? Chris, at least I’ve been getting chances at the World Title this year, when you couldn’t even beat an office worker for a title you’ve held 7 times. Jericho: I guess someone took offence to me reporting the facts, but let’s evaluate. You lost at Unforgiven, but you’re still moaning...and the fans boo you for it. I’m trying to be unbiased, but it’s clear that means...well, it means you suck! Edge: I suck? I SUCK?! Jericho: Well, there we go Edge. Acceptance is the first step- Edge: Give it a rest. No-one wants the joke, people just want to see me destroy you at No Mercy in our TLC Match! I’m an expect at this kind of match- Jericho: I’m sorry, YOU’RE an expert? Let’s see...you were part of the six men that innovated this match, but really...were you that big a part of it? The Dudleys brought the tables to...well, the table, the Hardy Boyz had the ladders...you and Christian had the chairs. Now, let’s think...which is more innovative? Also, you seem to be forgetting that it was me who created the concept of Money In The Bank. I know ladder matches extremely well Edge, and it’s only because of my concept that you got your first World Title! Rating: B+ Edge: Ok, you think you’re as good as me in these matches? I’ve got a challenge for you, the so-called Living Legend himself. Next week, how about you run a TLC-themed gauntlet? I won’t tell you the opponents yet, but your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be a Street Fight...a Tables Match...and a Ladder Match, all in one night. What do you say, Chris? Still feeling tough? Jericho: Ignoring the terrible movie reference, I accept your challenge and I’ll go one step further...I guarantee I will make it through the gauntlet and give everyone an idea of what to expect from No Mercy. You know what that is Edge? It’s me being announced the winner over you, despite playing you at your own game, with your rules. Best of look to you, junior, and to whatever assclowns you throw at my feet. Rating: B Before either man can come out for the main event, Eric Bischoff comes out for the second time this evening to cut a promo on a fairly promo-heavy show. Bischoff: Mr. Punk, before you come out for this non-title match I have something to say. I’ve heard rumblings, and change is on its way. You think you had a tough time winning the Ultimate Wrestling Championship? Let’s see how you find having to actually hold onto it without your main contenders screwing each other over at every turn. You think the last few months have been bad? You haven’t seen anything yet, champ. Your No Mercy opponent is one hell of a talent, arguably the best wrestler in the world, possibly of all time. I doubt you’ll beat him, but even if you do, you’ll have to get past Cyber Sunday. And from then on, I don’t think you’ll be able to ride this out. The crusade will manage to drag you down and take you out. It’s not time just yet, but we’re closing in on the beginning of the end of your World Title reign and the dawning of a new era in this once well-presented company. It’s time for a new face to replace you, to give this company the role-model it needs, not some untalented little...Punk. Good look facing Raw’s best up next chump- because hell...you’re gonna need it. Rating: B+ Non-title: WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk vs. The Undertaker vs. Punk and Undertaker are two of the very best the WWE has to offer, and this showed why they’re two of the most popular wrestlers on the roster. Despite having no-one to boo, the fans were on the edge of their seats for the 14 minute match, split solidly between the champion and the Dead Man. Taker got in lots of offence, and there was a great section in the middle of the match with Taker and Punk fighting it out with a fist and foot respectively, the fans eating up every moment. In the 13th minute, Undertaker went for the Old School, but the champ managed to pull him onto his shoulders! The Go To Sleep gave Punk a win that really adds to his credibility as champion, even when it was non-title. Winner at 14:04 CM Punk Rating: A* FINAL RATING: B+ Success

Pre-show: Rob Conway vs. Sonjay Bhalla This was a simple, 2-minute squash that served to give Conway a dominating win in front of the live crowd. He destroyed Bhalla for 2 minutes before putting him away with The Whiplash. Winner at 1:57 Rob Conway Rating: D+ Jerry Lynn vs. Perry Saturn Unlike the main event on Raw, this was an example of a poor face-versus-face match. Neither man has enough momentum to make this a memorable encounter without someone to boo, despite both wrestlers’ obvious talent. After nearly 6 minutes, Lynn tapped out to the Rings of Saturn. Winner at 5:42 Perry Saturn Rating: D+ Kane vs. Vito Vito managed to get in a bit of offence against the champ, but after 5 minutes the inevitable occurred when a Chokeslam gave Kane the win. Winner at 5:39 Kane Rating: C We start the show with Randy Orton and Mike Tyson in the ring before the announcers can speak. Our OCW Xtreme Champion will not be competing on air tonight, due to a fear of my client Mr. Orton. However, it can be confirmed that he is in the building tonight, and so Mr. Orton has something to say to our... “great” champion. Orton: I am a prodigy. Not only have I killed numerous legends, ranging from Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair to Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter...I am the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history. In case you’re just a little bit slow, I will always be able to say that I was the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in the history of this company. Don’t get why? Well let’s see...the World Heavyweight and WWE Titles were united into the Ultimate Wrestling Title, making them inactive and retired. There will not BE another World Heavyweight Champion, let alone one as young and talented as myself. Tyson: This is a distinction many men dream of- a guaranteed place in the annals of history. Orton: And it is one I earned years ago, and I plan to continue building my legacy and become the greatest competitor in the history of this sport. My next stop is to become the fifth ECW Xtreme Champion in history. Elijah Burke...Tajiri...Mordecai...Kane... and then Randy Orton. One of these does not belong, one of these names is just a couple of levels above the rest. One of these is the Legend Killer Randy Orton. Kane, if you haven’t picked up on the hint yet, Go- ......Orton help you. I’ll make it simple. Next week, live on Sky Sports all over the United Kingdom I want an Xtreme Title match! Kane versus Randy Orton, one-on-one, next week for the ECW Xtreme Championship, what do you say? The familiar sinister laugh of the champion is heard as he appears on the titan tron. Kane: There’s a fine line between a legacy and a footnote, Randy Orton. By making this challenge, you are merely becoming a footnote to MY legacy as the ECW Xtreme Champion. I accept. However, all four did the best with the time they were given, but it was a Chokeslam by Abyss that left Colton down for the 3-count at the end. Winners at 4:46 Abyss and Marcus Cor Von Rating: D A music video is shown to promote Sabu. All three men got in some great offence and no-one came out of this looking badly, but Lesnar hit an F-5 on Shamrock nearly 10 minutes in for the win. Disappointingly, these two didn’t click, but these still put on a passable match because of the talent of both men. This was a good, solid British-style contest that lasted 5 and a half minutes, with both men getting in equal offence, but the ending was in no doubt. Finlay hit the Celtic Cross to get his first win of the Farewell Tour. Winner at 5:31 Finlay Rating: C- A video plays hyping Randy Orton vs. Kane for the ECW Xtreme Title next week! Sabu has been building momentum, and got in a lot of offence on the Number One Contender. However, his luck came to an end when an RKO was enough to pin him 13 minutes in. Pre-show: Cop Killas vs. Whitmer and Jacobs This was a surprisingly good match for the pre-show and would have been welcome on air to showcase the growing tag division. Homicide and B-Boy got in a lot of offence, with Homicide starting the brief match against BJ Whitmer. However, Cop Killas were narrowly beaten when Jacobs hit a Contra Code on B-Boy for the surprising win. Winners at 4:43 Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer Rating: C+ WWE Cruiserweight and Tag Team Champion Brian Kendrick vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Unknown This wasn’t fantastic, but the crowed reacted well to all three wrestlers. They were given ample time to put on a good match to get the crowd slightly pumped for the main show. Kendrick was given a fair bit of offence, and it was Guerrero who technically lost the match. With Kendrick down after the Three Amigos, Chavo turned but was dropped into the Sharpshooter variation and he tapped out moments later, 10 minutes into the match, Winner at 9:54 Unknown Rating: C+ Cole: Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown! A huge tag team match, the continuation of the Finlay Farewell tour, Batista in action and the confirmation of the No Mercy main event! JBL: He’s Michael Cole, I am the WRESTLING...God, John Bradshaw Layfield! Tonight will be incredible- we get to find out who will be our new WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion come No Mercy! Cole: Well, partner, you’ve been predicting that Punk would come up when he was still fighting to face Edge in the Number One Contender’s Match at Judgement Day. You called his win against Christian and John Cena to earn that match a fluke, so he beat you not long after Backlash! Then, he defied all odds and your predictions by beating Edge in the Ladder match to earn his shot. At the Great American Bash, he won the title and he’s still holding onto the gold. I have a feeling Punk will at the very least give his next contender one hell of a tough time. Here comes the champ now! CM Punk comes out to kick off the show with an incredible pop. He plays to the fans for a while before getting a mic. Punk: You see? These fans come out to see us do our jobs, they pay to watch us on pay-per-view and they give us all the support in the world. They deserve to know what they’re paying to see at No Mercy, and they deserve to know TONIGHT! Vince McMahon’s hinted at a crusade, Eric Bischoff brought it up again and said I’ll be lucky to get to No Mercy, but how about a brief history lesson? They said I wouldn’t get to this company in the first place, but I did. They said I wouldn’t move from ECW to one of the most-watched shows in wrestling, but I DID! They said I couldn’t get to the top, but guess what...I beat the best Smackdown had to offer, beat the best Raw had to offer and then I beat the champion! People said I wouldn’t represent the WWE and hold onto this Ultimate Wrestling Title...BUT I DID! I’m still standing, I’m still here and I want...no, I DEMAND to know who I’m facing at No Mercy. I’ve been told you’re backstage, so how about you show your face? Get your ass out here so you can look into the eyes of a man who will NEVER back down. I’m told I should be worried? With the support of the fans, I’ve fought through so much and I’m still here, so now’s the time! SHOW ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WHO THEY’RE PAYING TO SEE AT NO MERCY! Rating: A Cole: What the hell?! That music...it can’t be... JBL: It is, Michael! Kurt Angle’s back! Cole: But he’s a TNA competitor! What the- Kurt Angle is back in the WWE! TNA Wrestler, former World Champion and the only Olympic gold medallist in WWE history makes his way to the ring to a huge ovation. The fans are actually cheering him as he makes his triumphant return to the WWE. Angle: You all want to know your No Mercy main event? You’re freaking looking at it right now! CM Punk, I’ve been gone a while and I can admit things change...but are you kidding me? You’re a World Champion? Listen, bucko, I could take your crappy martial arts style and out-wrestle you, take you to the mat and make you tap out right now. I can save you the effort. And you can all boo me as much as you want, I don’t give a crap! I’m making more money doing this job in a night than most of you make in a month. I’ve been gone a while, and I haven’t missed a single one of you. Boo all you want, but you cheered and jumped off your seats when my music hit, so I know you missed me. It’s true, it’s damn true, and you know what else is true? Punk, you’re looking at the NEXT Ultimate Wrestling Champion. Tonight, I make my return to the WWE! I will be in action next in a Triple Threat set up by Theodore Long and it marks the beginning of my road to the top of this business. I’ve done great things when I’ve been away, I’m a former NWA World Champion...but I will definitely be looking forward to adding THAT title to my credentials at No Mercy. Rating: B+ Kensuke Sasaki and Rich Davin come out for the Triple Threat vs. vs. After the incredible promo, this was a bit of let-down as Angle’s returning match, but it served a purpose and Angle looked excellent, he didn’t miss a beat. Davin and Sasaki actually worked together at times, but Angle used takedowns and German Suplexes to wear them both down. Sasaki looked to finish Davin off after a Lariat, but Kurt dragged him off when he went for the cover and locked in the Ankle Lock. Moments later, Sasaki tapped out 7 minutes in, giving the American Hero a win in his big return. Winner at 7:03 Kurt Angle Rating: C+ A music video is shown in tribute to Rey Mysterio, who is working his way back to health and will be returning to the ring eventually. They wrestled an 8-minute, mat-based match and Danielson was apparently an opponent requested by Finlay for his tour. Despite Danielson being built up for a match with Michaels at No Mercy, this actually ended in a draw. Finlay and Danielson ended up having each other in a leg lock and a sleeper hold respectively, and when both reached the ropes and neither man released their hold, the referee was forced to call for a double disqualification. Finlay vs. Bryan Danielson ended in a draw at 7:52 due to a Double DQ. Rating: C+ MISTER......KENNEDY...Kennedy! It is indeed Ken Kennedy making his way to the ring. He raises his hand as the lights dim and the mic drops down. Kennedy: Shush...please, shhhhh. I’m Ken Kennedy and I’m out here to teach you all the meaning...of injustice. I am the top star on Smackdown today, and of all time. Who else has the distinction of saying they defeated The Undertaker in his LAST EVER match as a Smackdown-exclusive competitor? Tell me, who else? No-one, but I’ve been able to say that every week since the first Smackdown of the year, nearly 10 months ago. I’ve earned the right to say it and I will continue to say it until people realise...I am the real deal. Ken Kennedy is here to STAY and I’m here to hold championship gold. It’s a disgrace that I wasn’t allowed to even compete in the qualifiers for the 6-Way at Unforgiven, let alone that I wasn’t AWARDED the Number One Contender spot...on the spot. So, you know what...I want my chance tonight! I want CM Punk in this very ring for the Ultimate Wrestling Championship! I’ve EARNED it! Teddy Long...get out here and make it official, so that you can announce the new World Champion as Mister.......KEN- Rating: B Kennedy’s interrupted, but it’s by Rob Van Dam’s music! Cole: Oh my! JBL: Kennedy, accept! Beat him down and destroy him! Kennedy: I say...the winner of the match at No Mercy will be MISTER...KENNE- RVD: I get it. Now, during your little rant I had a word with Teddy Long. Tonight, we get to pick our matches in preparation. So, there’s someone I don’t have a great deal of respect for, besides you. I’m going up against MVP right after this to see what all the hype was really about. Kennedy: Are you done? And that’s your big match for tonight? Well...in the main event tonight, it will be Mister Ken Kennedy...versus......CM Punk for the Ultimate Wrestling Championship! Let’s see if our No Mercy match will suddenly becoming a Triple Threat with Kurt Angle for the title. I’d love my first defence to be beating you AND Angle in the same night, just weeks after I beat CM Punk for it. My star starts to rise tonight, and the next Ultimate Wrestling Champion is...right here. Rating: B Kennedy leaves and Montel Vontavious Porter makes his entrance. vs. They didn’t put on a great match, and it shows that Van Dam can only really have fantastic matches with just the right opponent, rather than being able to help others elevate their game. Porter showed promise yet again though, getting in a lot of offence on the newest star of the blue brand. However, the match finished 6 minutes in and served its purpose, RVD hitting the Five Star Frog Splash for the win to build momentum for No Mercy. Winner at 6:31 Rob Van Dam Rating: C Batista vs. Matt Sydal vs. This was too short to mean anything, but the facts that Matt Sydal started strong and looked a brief threat for the opening 30 seconds and that these two showed great chemistry made this a very entertaining couple of minutes. Batista got the win, putting his feet on the rope to help the pin after a Batista Bomb. Winner at 1:50 Batista Rating: B We cut backstage where Kurt Angle is standing by. Angle: Tonight, I made my long-awaited and never predicted return to the WWE. Unlike some of my former rivals, I’m not going to settle for slipping into obscurity...I’m back to make an impact and become the next WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion. The “done” thing here would be for me to say that this isn’t personal, it’s just that Punk stands in the way of my gold...no freakin’ way! Punk, I think you’re just that- a no-good, disrespectful punk who isn’t even fit to lace my Olympic Gold Medallist boots. I won this medal with a broken freaking neck, I’ve won 7 World Titles in my time in the WWE and TNA...I did it with the straight edge life style. Here’s the thing...I don’t brag about something I SHOULD do. I don’t brag that I constantly strive to continue being the best in this business, not for the fans but to be a champion. Punk, I think you’re a damn hypocrite and you’re looking at the NEXT Ultimate Wrestling C- William Regal slowly walks into frame, ready to compete. Regal: You have got to be bloody joking, Kurt. You really think you’re actually relevant now? You’re a bloody has-been and things have started to change. I hate our unworthy champion just as much as the next bloke, but I can’t say with complete honesty that I’d rather you were our champion. You better buck your ideas up, sunshine, because if you ARE the next Ultimate Wrestling Champion after No Mercy...you’re getting the fight of your life at Cyber Sunday. And if CM Punk beats you...he’s getting the exact same treatment. Whether you win your World Title match at No Mercy or not...I’m going to be winning mine at Cyber Sunday, whether that’s against CM Punk or your fine self. Then, I will move on to Survivor Series to face...anyway, I’ve got a match to win. Rating: A* Christian and Booker T vs. William Regal and Bobby Lashley & vs. & The age of the Smackdown main eventers was shown a bit in this 18-minute contest, with Regal and Booker both tiring bit nearer the end. This was still a good penultimate match that cemented Regal as a top performer; he looked good out there and like he deserves his spot in the main event. This claim was only strengthened with a Regal Cutter left Booker down for three after a good, long tag match. Winner at 18:19 William Regal Rating: B Lashley leaves the ring, but Regal takes out Christian with a knee to the skull. Booker starts to get to his feet when... John Cena takes him out with a steel chair. Regal and Cena start to beat down Booker and Christian in and around the ring. They chase them up the ramp and get back in the ring. Cena motions to his waist and mouths “we had a deal.” Regal nods and mouths back, promising the Dr. Of Thuganomics the first shot if the Great Brit wins at Cyber Sunday. Rating: B+ Before any of the four men can leave the main arena, the Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon walks out to the stage. Vince: John Cena, you think you’re getting a guaranteed World Title match at Survivor Series simply because William Regal says so? NO CHANCE IN HELL! You earn your chances, and someone who isn’t even a champion yet certainly cannot promise people future title shots. What we all just witnessed was an attempt to corrupt and cheat the fans out of some fair title matches. Also, Booker and Christian were used as means to an end. I heard your conversation in the locker room before the show, gentlemen...taking out the competition? Oh no, you’ve just bought yourself some. I’m making a match for No Mercy. As a result of that cheap assault, Booker T and Christian will team up once again...to face John Cena...and the No Mercy Number One Contender William Regal. You two seem pleased...you shouldn’t be. Here’s how the match will go...Christian’s already had a shot at becoming Number One Contender way back when he was fighting John Cena and CM Punk for it...however...if Booker T and Christian win, Booker T will get a World Title Match at Cyber Sunday! Then, at Survivor Series...Christian will face whoever is the champion following that match. Cena...Regal...don’t worry. If you two win, then you’re little agreement will be official and we will see either CM Punk or Kurt Angle defending the Ultimate Wrestling Championship at Cyber Sunday. But just to add something else for you to fight for, seeing as you were most definitely in the wrong tonight...if you two lose at No Mercy...YOU’RE FIRED FROM SMACKDOWN! Rating: A WWE Ultimate Wrestling Title: WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk vs. Ken Kennedy vs. Management had high hopes for the main event, but sadly Kennedy and Punk just didn’t click and it hurt the match. It was still good, but not to the standard expecting from a World Champion and a main eventer. They went 21 minutes full of exciting action, with Kennedy looking like a star and Punk looking like a true champ. Punk accidentally hit the ref with a Superkick 19 minutes in, when Kennedy deliberately duck and slipped the referee in the way. A couple of minutes later, Kennedy struck Punk with the championship belt...not realising referee Charles Robinson was back on his feet! He calls for the bell, and Punk retains his title. Winner at 20:56 by DQ and STILL WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk! Rating: FINAL RATING: B Success

The card is stacked from top to bottom! I’m Jim Ross with my broadcast partner Jerry “The King” Lawler. Lawler: We’ve got a Women’s Title match and the Finlay Farewell Tour! JR: The farewell run for Fit Finlay does indeed continue tonight, but that’s not all! Student and teacher team up, as Bryan Danielson, who’s undefeated since Wrestlemania 23, teams up with his mentor and No Mercy opponent Shawn Michaels against Charlie Haas and Umaga. Lawler: At least they know their opponents, JR! JR: That’s right King. Chris Jericho will be competing in the main event in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs-themed gauntlet, set by HIS No Mercy opponent, the Rated R Superstar Edge. Here comes the no-good SOB right now, hopefully to shed some light on our main events. Edge gets in the ring in street clothes with a smug grin on his face. Edge: Are ya ready Chris? Can you feel the excitement? The Tutor of Tables, the Lecturer of Ladders and the Master of the Conchairto is just weeks away from returning to his best environment...Tables...Ladders...and Chairs. I’m the real deal, and I’m going to prove you to be a phony tonight. My history in TLC matches is well-documented and undeniably awesome, whereas yours...well, your history amounts to a few Ladder Matches. Don’t get me wrong, that’s some valuable experience...but you’ve not had the best success, have you Chris? I mean, really, you created the Money In The Bank Ladder Match for Wrestlemania 21...but you’ve never won it, have you? You created a match...but you FAILED to win. You couldn’t even emerge victorious from a match you put on the map. I could...Summerslam 2000, the first-ever official TLC match...I won it. Me and my brother Christian beat The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz in less than 15 minutes to retain the World Tag Team Titles. We pioneered a match and emerged victorious. You’ll be lucky to even make it to the TLC Match with me, let alone last 15 minutes. Tonight, you run the first-ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs-themed gauntlet. Don’t you feel special, Chris? This a chance to make history! This has never been seen before, and may never be seen again. I’ll be getting a front-row seat on commentary, and I can’t wait to see your face when you see your opponents. I wouldn’t want to...spoil the surprise...so, I’ll see you later...chump. Foley did some good work at ringside, but James and Melissa didn’t click at all. After nearly 2 minutes, the Kudoh Driver gave Melissa the win. Winner at 1:43 and STILL WWE Women’s Champion Cheerleader Melissa Rating: D Familiar music hits and the crowd go insane as the Ultimate Wrestling Champion makes his way to the ring. Punk: So, if you all watched Friday Night Smackdown a few days ago you’ll know that at No Mercy I’ll be defending this Ultimate Wrestling Title against TNA’s Kurt Angle. Kurt, on Smackdown you said this is personal and that you have a problem with ME. You said I don’t deserve my spot, you insulted my pride in being straight edge and you said you came back to beat me for my title. You even had the audacity to call me a hypocrite. Kurt, I’m seeing only one hypocrite in our match at No Mercy, and it’s definitely not the champion standing in this ring. You insulted me and talked about coming back to do big things...I’ve heard backstage the comments you’ve been making about wanting to defeat me because it’s “what’s best for business.” To paraphrase a great hypocrite...ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! If you cared about what’s best for business, for this company and, most likely, yourself, then why the hell did you leave this company over a year ago and head down to Florida? If you cared about this company, why come back after some time away and suddenly pretend to care. It makes me sick that every wrestler on all three of our brands work their asses off in the WWE week in, and week out to one day get a shot at me and my title, a shot at being called the best in the world. They have to ply their trade and work from the bottom up, they have to earn their shots, but not Kurt Angle. You come back from TNA, swindle some kind of deal with McMahon and Bischoff and BAM, you’re in the fight of your life and a fight you won’t win. I know you’re here tonight, but I know you won’t be coming out here any time soon because you’re a coward. I don’t expect or want you out here, because you’ve got a very big decision to match. I want to add a little something to our match at No Mercy. It’s winner takes all...you beat me, you’re the Ultimate Wrestling Champion and I’ll retire from the WWE. However...when I beat you in the middle of the ring for all the fans all over the world and all the boys in the back that actually give a damn about this company...then you will be leaving the WWE and heading back down to Florida. Take some time to think, but I want an answer by the end of the night. Rating: A The Corporation (Umaga and Charlie Haas) vs. Shawn Michaels and Bryan Danielson & vs. & Michaels and Danielson teamed together for the first time ever tonight ahead of their clash at No Mercy, facing two members of The Corporation and it didn’t disappoint. For some reason, Umaga was largely kept out of the 10-minute match, with Haas being worked over by both men. The Samoan Bulldozer did get bits of offence, but it was a Superkick on Haas that gave mentor and protégé the win. Winners at 10:31 Shawn Michaels and Bryan Danielson Rating: B- The match is over and Bryan Danielson is just about to go through the curtains when Shawn Michaels gets a mic and starts to talk in the middle of the ring. HBK: Whoa, steady on Bryan. That was impressive, and we’re damn sure gonna tear the house down a week on Sunday at No Mercy. I pulled strings to get you into this company and to get you the chance to compete on all three brands...and I don’t regret it a single bit. You’ve made me proud to be able to say “Shawn Michaels trained Bryan Danielson”...you’ve become one of the best wrestlers in the world and I dare anyone to argue with that. That said, I did you a favour to get you this job and let you show off your talent to the entire world and to go down as one of the best in this business...now I need a favour in return. In 13 days, we will go one-on-one at No Mercy in front of the world and put on a wrestling clinic...but I’ve also got an eye on the horizon, to my Sharpshooter Only Match with Bret “The Hitman” Hart at Survivor Series with Vinnie Mac as the guest referee. Now, I’m going to give you the best the Heartbreak Kid has to offer, but I want a chance to get a bit of practice for the way I have to win my rematch with Bret. So, Bryan...I’m challenging you to accept I slight change to our match at No Mercy. Let’s make the first time we face off be in a match we can REALLY show off in...Submission Only! The fans cheer Michaels’ challenge, and Danielson nods, before turning away and walking to the back. The announcers noted that the champ’s search for a partner is still undergoing at the moment, but this surely had to help Seanoa’s chances. The huge Samoan put away JTG in just under 7 minutes with a Muscle Buster. Winners at 6:34 Samoan Seanoa and Kenny Dykstra Rating: D+ Kenny Dykstra leaves the ring, but Samoan Seanoa stays behind and gets a mic. Seanoa: For so many months, I’ve been part of The Corporation. For so many months, I’ve been at the beck and call of the McMahons and the rest of this group. For so many months, I’ve been purely muscle, silenced. No more. I’m not saying this is anything personal, but I’m done being part of The Corporation. Let’s just call it...a conflict of interests. I want to show that I’m more than a lackey for the McMahon’s. I’m going to become my own man, despite sharing the same feelings as Kenny. I don’t respect anyone but myself and Dykstra, simple. All you fans can boo me as much as you want, but I haven’t cared since I got here and I still don’t. My aim just to break away and show what I’m made of... Samoan’s are known for their strength and wrestling talent, and it’s my time to show it and to make sure people start to take notice. Me and Dykstra have a mission, to censor the WWE and get rid of the filth. For me, the filth is anything that gets in my way. I won’t pretend to share the exact same views as our IC Champ on everything, but I will still help in his mission if I’m given the chance to be his partner. Rating: B- Kurt Angle comes out in a suit and tie to a chorus of boos. JR: Will this no-good-SOB give us an answer now? Lawler: Steady on JR! Try to remain objective! Angle: CM Punk...are you really sure you want to go through with this? I mean, at No Mercy you’ll not only be putting you’re Ultimate Wrestling Title in my hands...but also your career. When you get out-wrestled and out-classed by a real American hero, you’ll have nothing left. You won’t have your World Championship, you won’t have a job and you’ll have been forced to retire. You don’t think that when that happens I’ll do everything I can to make sure you never even get the chance to work for TNA? And Punk...you think any other company will want you back once I’ve beaten you and taken my title- that’s right, MY FREAKING TITLE? You think anyone will? Philly won’t want you, you won’t be wanted for Combat, no-one in the UK will pick you up and I’ll use my pull to make damn sure you’re not headed to Florida. After the embarrassment I put you through as I kick you out of the door...you’ll be unemployable. If the two best companies in the world don’t want you, why would anyone else? In case you’re a little slow, and I know you are, I’ll spell out what everything I just said means- I accept you’re challenge to a Loser Leaves the WWE match at No Mercy. If you think you’ve got any kind of chance to win this, you’re DEAD wrong! You’ve not got a chance of beating me, because I’ll do all I can to make your life a living hell...who knows, you may not even make it to No Mercy! Rating: B+ We come back after a break with cameras in CM Punk’s locker room. It’s a complete mess, and several officials are trying to calm the champ down. He was in a Fatal Four Way with three of the best and most respective workers in the company and held his own. Sadly, he didn’t get the win; Triple H and Venis were brawling on the outside and the ref was watching that. Flair slipped behind Finlay and hit a low blow, then put him in the Figure Four Leglock. After a brief struggle, the Fighting Irishman was forced to tap out. Winner at 8:49 Ric Flair Rating: B+ Finlay has his walk down the ramp to a nice applause after Flair has left, but Triple H and Venis are brawling in the ring. The Game hits a low blow and rolls out of the ring and brings out a sledgehammer! He gets back into the ring and stalks Venis as he slowly gets to his feet, but two brutal shots to the gut and skull send him straight back down to the mat. Triple H unleashes on his No Mercy opponent, busting him open and leaving him to the attention of paramedics. Rating: B+ Whilst the paramedics take Val Venis away, Edge makes his entrance to take his place alongside Jerry Lawler and JR. JR: Well, we’re joined now by the Rated R Superstar, Edge. I’d say it’s a pleasure, but- Lawler: Show some respect JR! Let Edge at least try to explain how the main event’s going to work. Edge: Thank you Jerry, thank you. Look, tonight will expose Chris Jericho as a phony and a liar. He’s not an innovator, he’s an inner-failure. Tonight, I will expose Y2J for what he really is- an insult to professional wrestlers all over the world. I’ve said it before- he created the Money In The Bank match but never won it. For some bizarre, inexplicable reason he thinks that gives him an advantage in our TLC match a week on Sunday. Well, it doesn’t and tonight will show everyone why. Our so called “living legend” is in the ring, so give me a live mic- I’m going to announce his first match. Edge stands on the table and waits for the crowd noise to die down. Edge: Ladies and gentlemen, this next contest is the TLC Themed Gauntlet, to be run by Chris Jericho. There will be three stages to this and, win or lose, Jericho will have to compete in them all. The first of these will take place right now. This match is a Street Fight scheduled for one fall. Making his way to the ring.......UMAGA! Rating: B+ TLC Gauntlet Part 1: Street Fight: Chris Jericho vs. Umaga vs. Jericho started strong against the Samoan Bulldozer, but after a flurry of offence Umaga was able to fight back with his brute strength. He controlled periods of this incredible match, but after 5 minutes Jericho introduced the weapons. The spots were the kind you’d usually expect, with nothing hugely innovative so as not to completely over-shadow the Taker-Umaga match from Unforgiven, and obviously the TLC match to come at No Mercy. Jericho was able to springboard off the top rope with a kendo stick in hand, staggering Umaga with a stiff shot. As he swayed, he caught a chair thrown by Y2J, but was met with an Enziguri, sending the chair into his skull. A Lionsault with the chair over his chest was enough to give the living legend the win! Winner at 10:41 Chris Jericho Rating: A Edge gets his mic again. Edge: Alright Jericho, you did well- I’ll admit that. But that was someone you’ve faced before, you’ve had a lot of history with him. Your next opponent is someone we’ve not seen for a while, and he’s improved drastically since we last saw him! You’re competing in a Ladder Match...for $75,000 of my money! Your opponent is this man...the first-ever OFFICIAL WWE Lightweight Champion...TAKA Michinoku! Rating: B+ TLC Gauntlet Part 2: Ladder Match for $75,000: Chris Jericho vs. TAKA Michinoku vs. TAKA is a good talent, but Jericho’s good performance really stood out. The returning Michinoku got in some good offence over the 5 minute match, and this was a solid return for someone not seen in the WWE since early 2002. However, it was all futile with Jericho hitting a Springboard Dropkick that sent Michinoku out of the ring. He climbed the ladder and got the cash. As soon as the bell was rung, Edge stood up, announced a Tables Match and pointed to the ramp... Winner at 4:46 Chris Jericho Rating: B- TLC Gauntlet Part 3: Handicap Tables Match: Chris Jericho vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. & The Dudleys doubled teamed Y2J to begin with, using their size and numbers advantage to wear Jericho down. Jericho came out of this looking good, proving that he can last a while; after this match, he’d competed for almost 35 minutes, with barely a break. Bubba Ray, however, was tiring towards the end. Around midway through, a ladder was place over two tables. The ending came when Edge tried to Spear Jericho, but it was dodged and instead connected with D-Von. Jericho hit a Dropkick on Bubba that knocked Edge out of the ring, before pulling Bubba Ray onto a table in the middle of the ring. Instead of immediately ending it, Jericho climbed onto the ladder balanced across two tables...Moonsault through the table! Jericho leaves before Edge can attack him and our final image is both Dudleys down, Y2J posing on the ramp and Edge looking angry at the way that night turned out. Winner at 17:43 Chris Jericho Rating: B+ FINAL RATING: B+ Success

I’m Joey Styles, alongside ECW Original, the Human Suplex Machine, Tazz! Tazz: Tonight’s show will be off the hook, Joey, especially the main event! Styles: Before that tonight, we have the continuation of the Finlay Farewell Tour! Finlay will compete in a Triple Threat against former ECW Xtreme Champion Tajiri and the legendary Keiji Mutoh! Our CURRENT ECW Xtreme Champion is in the main event though, defending his title against Randy Orton! Here’s how we got to this match. A recap of the past couple of weeks is shown. Sabu and Orton’s series is included, as well as Orton’s challenge to face Kane tonight for the ECW Xtreme Title! Rating: B- Sabu vs. Mike Knox vs. This was a poor match due to neither men getting a chance to show off any great offence, and showing a lack of chemistry. The fans seem to be turning against Sabu for some reason, and also seemed confused by the ending as well. After five minutes, Sabu- who has been on the receiving end of a decent push the last few weeks- was pinned by a floundering Mike Knox after a Spinning Reverse STO! Winner at 5:02 Mike Knox Rating: D- Non-title: ECW Xtreme Tag Champions Martin and Rave vs. 2nd City Saints & vs. & This was almost offensively short, but for some reason the fans seemed to really enjoy it. After a couple of minutes of fast-paced action, Jimmy Rave hit the Greetings From Ghana on Chris Colton for the win. Winners at 2:02 Jimmy Rave and Alex Martin Rating: C- Ken Shamrock vs. Matt Striker vs. Brock Lesnar vs. vs. Management seemed to be seeing how Striker could handle a match with people in the upper card, and he didn’t do badly at all. This wasn’t great by any means, but it was a solid, if standard, triple threat. After nearly 9 minutes, Shamrock was taken out by a double clothesline, which left Striker prone to an F-5 and the Stretch Muffler. Seconds later he tapped out, giving Lesnar the win. Winner at 8:46 Brock Lesnar Rating: C+ After the bell, Shamrock climbs back into the ring and gets in Lesnar’s face! The two start trading insults before Lesnar shakes his head, shoves past and goes to leave. Shamrock pulls him back and the two go nose-to-nose. Before anything can kick off, Paul Heyman comes to the ring! Heyman: Not on my show, gentlemen, not on MY time. We’ve got the Finlay Farewell Tour and an Xtreme Title match still to come, so we don’t have time for this. But Mr. Shamrock...Mr. Lesnar...you two should save your energy and dislike for each other until next week. Right here on ECW, it WILL be Ken Shamrock, one-on-one, with Brock Lesnar! Now, you both have similar backgrounds, you’ve both competed in MMA. I’m the extreme innovator, and that will be proven next week. Ken, Brock- you two will meet next week inside the Octagon...in a Mixed Martial Arts match! Rating: B- FINLAY FAREWELL TOUR: Finlay vs. Tajiri vs. Keiji Mutoh vs. vs. The fans were in for a treat tonight, with three stiff competitors gutting it out for nearly 9 minutes. This was the fans first, and last, chance to see Mutoh and Finlay in the ring together, although many of the fans in the arena didn’t really recognise Keiji Mutoh. Tajiri also got a fair bit of offence in this, but it was Finlay’s night when he pinned the legendary Great Muta with a Fireman’s Carry Slam. Winner at 8:34 Finlay Rating: C+ ECW Xtreme Title: ECW Xtreme Champion Kane vs. Randy Orton vs. (w/) This match has been building for a few weeks, and Orton is getting very, very over as a heel this year. The fans were all over the “OCW Superstar” in this great main event. Kane really brought his A-game for the duration, and Orton kept up with the veteran every step of the way. After almost a quarter of an hour, Orton was able to hit an RKO out of nowhere to capture his first ECW Xtreme Title in his first opportunity! Winner at 13:38 and the NEW ECW Xtreme Champion Randy Orton! Rating: B+ FINAL RATING: B- No comments Apologies for the huge delay, uni life is really limiting my time for this. That said, I've still been playing the game and getting time to type up bits of shows. So, I'm still saying that this isn't dead, and won't die any time in the foreseeable future. Comments would definitely help though ;)

I’m Michael Cole, and joining me as always is my partner John “Bradshaw” Layfield. John, we’re kicking it off with your favourite superstar! JBL: CM Punk is a disgrace to this broadcast, Smackdown, all of the WWE and this ENTIRE business! He brings a disgrace to that World Title and the lineage it carries, and it’s an embarrassment to see someone that poor being hailed a worthy champion! Cole: While OUR champion makes his way to the ring, I’ll take the chance to defend him! Firstly, he’s straight edge, a great role model, certainly better for kids watching at home than a beer-swilling zealot who turned his back on his home state and tag team partner for the money! JBL: And I became a champion, Cole. Even if we ignore all the holders of the WWE and World Heavyweight titles, he doesn’t compare- The Undertaker and Randy Orton are incomparable. He’s the bush leagues if you feel like you have to compare! Cole: He’s still kicked your ass this year on more than one occasion, so just shut up and let the Ultimate Wrestling Champion speak! Punk: I don’t care what Kurt Angle has been and will continue to say up until No Mercy. I really don’t care if he says I don’t deserve to win this title, I certainly don’t respect his opinion that I don’t deserve to be at the top of the WWE. The funny thing is, last time I checked, he was the guy who walked away from the WWE last year when he was apparently “relegated” to ECW. Kurt, get over yourself! I plied my trade on the independent circuit for years before being ecstatic to get a chance in OVW! Kurt, you complained about getting a chance at being on weekly international television. I showed my worth down at the Valley and fought my way to ECW, a place I LOVED being! Kurt Angle, meanwhile, bitched and moaned, and then walked away. We all heard it, it was definitely nothing to do with being placed on ECW with the hope that he could make it great again. I say that because Kurt, as much as I hate you, I respect you as one of the best wrestlers of all time. You said it was because of health issues...then you fooled the world! Kurt Angle became TNA and a TV show full of the best young talent became the Kurt Angle Show! I watched and quite frankly, I think it’s a total disgrace. You lied to these people, walked away from this company when it thought it needed you. Then, at the first opportunity, you come back and try to tell ME that I’M not good enough to represent this company?! With all due respect, Kurt, you’re talking out of your ass. You don’t deserve to be allowed back into the best sports entertainment company in the world, and you sure as hell don’t deserve a shot against me before all the people who are actually here tonight. Yeah, that’s right folks...Kurt Angle isn’t even in the arena tonight! He wants the chance to prove that I shouldn’t be holding the title I fought long and hard to earn, but he doesn’t even show up to the show tonight. He still competes in Orlando, and won’t be making regular appearances up to No Mercy, but tries to shoot ME down? Kurt, you’re insulting MY integrity and the pride I have for the company I represent? I only see one half of our main event at No Mercy scheduled to make appearances every single week in the lead up to it. That man will also walk out of No Mercy the Ultimate Wrestling Champion, staring down at YOUR motionless body. Rating: A WWE Tag Team Titles Number 1 Contenders: BJ Whitmer (w/ Jimmy Jacobs) vs. Chris Hero (w/ The Hurricane) vs. Homicide (w/ B-Boy) vs. vs. It is explained before the match that the winner of this Triple Threat earns a Tag Team Title match for their team. The partners are even at ringside, just to make it extra-clear for any WCW fans watching. This was actually quite poor, because the fans don’t care enough about the Cop Killas or Whitmer and Jacobs. That said, all three men in the ring tonight did their best to get the fans into it for the 5-minutes of fast-paced action. Da Cop Killa on Whitmer left Homicide in a great position to win, but he was hit with a Hero’s Welcome out of nowhere that sent him out of the ring. Chris Hero made the cover on BJ Whitmer, and The Superheroes get the WWE Tag Team Title shot! Winner at 4:53 Chris Hero (representing The Superheroes) Rating: D+ We cut backstage where William Regal and John Cena are standing by in suits. Regal: Good evening ladies and gentlemen around the world. I am Mr. William Regal with my business partner Mr. John Cena. We are both present to discuss our match at World Wrestling Entertainment’s pay-per-view broadcast next week, No Mercy. That is an apt title for the show, because we will ensure that our collective opponents get just that. After a justified attack to asset my dominance as the rightful Number 1 Contender to the WWE Ultimate Wrestling Championship, Vince McMahon made a match with myself and Mr. Cena teaming up to fight the duo of...Christian and Booker T. To make matters even bloody worse, my title shot at Cyber Sunday is on the line. Now, many of you may be wondering why Mr. Cena is helping me try and retain my god-given right to a World Championship match. Well, let’s hear from the man himself. John? Cena: Look, I’m cutting the crap tonight and there’ll be no rapping from the Doctor of Thuganomics this evening. Tonight, you’re getting Mr. Cena, the civilised man who understands talent and who does not forget. CM Punk won the chance at a title shot after a match with myself and Christian. Now, Vince McMahon has made a stupid match for No Mercy that quite frankly is a disgrace. Regal: For the last two weeks I’ve stood victorious over Christian, pinning him in the middle of the ring. Myself and Mr. Cena also destroyed Christian and his friend Booker T after a match last week. I earned my shot at Unforgiven, and Mr. Cena helped me take out any competition, thus earning himself the first title opportunity when I win at Cyber Sunday. Mr. McMahon has now made a match where Booker T could win a bloody title match, with Christian getting the first title opportunity should he win? Where in the bloody hell did that disgrace of an idea come from? And if they win, myself and Cena are fired from Smackdown? It’s an absolute out-rage, but know this...we’re fighting for our jobs and what is rightfully ours. These scoundrels say they’re fighting for the fans, and you all believe them? You all think they’re in the right just because we beat them down last week? Let’s see if you stand by your heroes after No Mercy when they’re where they belong...on their backs, staring at the lights. Rating: B WWE United States Title: Tables Match: WWE US Champion Paul London vs. D-Von Dudley vs. These two had less than 7 minutes to work with, but they put on a decent match, although it could’ve been better. This was there to try to establish D-Von as a solo competitor, although a better performance was probably hoped for. A 450 Splash through a table gave Paul London his 5th title defence in convincing fashion. Winner at 6:40 and STILL WWE United States Champion Paul London Rating: C The crowd starts to boo and almost drown out the theme music as Batista makes his way to the ring in a sharp suit. He laughs all the way down to the ring, and as carrying a small black bag. The Animal gets into the ring and is ready to speak. Batista: Someone with a better car, more money and a better body than you could all ever hope to have is in the ring waiting to talk, so learn your places and shut the hell up. I know everyone is worried about poor Rey Mysterio, and everyone is wondering why I targeted my former partner, my... “friend”, the luchador warrior. I want to say, I’ve already explained...this has become personal. Rey, you were my friend and we were tag team champions together...and that’s why I’ve actually given you a great honour. I mean, after the beating I gave him...you will all NOT get to see Rey Mysterio versus Batista at No Mercy. After I destroyed him, he can’t compete and he isn’t here tonight...so stop chanting his name. Rey, by taking you out this quickly I’ve given you the honour of breaking the streak and path of destruction. For months I’ve been attacking someone, and then beating them in a match. It’s continued for a while...but you can’t even make it to the match. You could have ended it. I just want to say, I’m leaving No Mercy open, Rey. Because even though I’m sure you won’t be there, if you don’t actually make it...the Animal will hunt you down and hurt you more than ever for ending my streak. I gave you an honour, a power almost...but with great power comes great responsibility. No Mercy is open for you to compete Rey, but whether you do or not...the Animal WILL destroy its prey. Rating: A Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Robbie Brookside vs. Sadly, these two didn’t click. Porter has shown in the past he can really learn from the greats, but the magic wasn’t there for these two. That could’ve been more the time constraints, with them only getting just over 2 minutes to work with. Brookside got in a fair bit of offence early on as the two chained wrestled, but eventually a Ballin’ Elbow was enough to put down the British legend. Winner at 2:14 Montel Vontavious Porter Rating: D+ Finlay Farewell Tour: Finlay vs. William Regal vs. Jushin Thunder Lyger vs. Batista vs. vs. vs. The commentators made sure to note that whilst Batista and Regal certainly don’t have respect for the fans or their respective rivals, they do have a genuine great respect for Fit Finlay, hence their inclusion in the tour. These four put on a good show, and were given a decent amount of time to give the fans another match to remember Finlay by. In the end, Regal got the pin on Jushin Thunder Lyger, but only after Finlay took himself and Batista out of the ring with a high Crossbody. Winner at 14:38 William Regal Rating: B All four competitors embrace after the match and Finlay is paraded on Batista’s shoulders, before walking down the aisle shaking the fans’ hands. Rating: B A graphic is shown to announce Bobby Lashley vs. Brian Kendrick Rating: C+ WWE Cruiserweight and Tag Team Champion Brian Kendrick vs. Bobby Lashley vs. For the second time on the show, the two competitors didn’t click, but still managed to put on a passable bout. There was a contrast in styles that may not have helped, but the fans still seemed to enjoy parts of this match. After 10 minutes, the Double Champion fell victim to a Spear that was enough to leave him down for 3. Winner at 9:49 Bobby Lashley Rating: C Non-title: WWE Ultimate Wrestling Champion CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy vs. On a seemingly cursed show, yet more wrestlers just didn’t click. However, the calibre of Hardy and Punk really showed in this match, as they put on a really good show for the fans. Matt was allowed to get in an even amount of offence on the Ultimate Wrestling Champ, and at times definitely looked on a par with the current ‘best in the business’. However, half way through the 13th minute Punk was able to connect with the Go To Sleep for the clean win. Winner at 13:40 CM Punk Rating: B John Cena comes out for his match with Rob Van Dam, but get a mic before RVD can walk out. Cena: Let’s keep this short, and cut the crap. I was shooting straight earlier, now I’m here to rap. People think that I should see Van Dam as a threat? Tonight, let’s be honest, he’s in the ring with the best. The only thing he’s good at, besides the annoying me like a bug...is just sparking up backstage and getting high on drugs. Three initials...R...V...D! Rob, I’ve got four words...you can’t see me! Rating: B John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam vs. After RVD’s entrance, Ken Kennedy comes down and takes up a seat next to Cole and JBL as a guest commentator. Cena and Van Dam showed some good chemistry in the ring, putting on a great TV main event that sent the fans home happy. Cena is becoming one of the best heels in the business, and RVD is starting to get in his stride as a regular main event wrestler again. 13 minutes in, he looked poised to hit the 5 Star Frog Splash, but Kennedy got up on the apron and distracted him. A kick sent Kennedy to the floor, but Cena crotched Van Dam and hit him with the FU for the win! Winner at 14:08 John Cena Rating: B+ FINAL RATING: B+ Success Very long time coming, but there you go. Jaded, you got 2/7. I'm hoping that means this is unpredictable in a good way :p Anyway, comments would be appreciated.
