Royal Ring Puroresu (C-Verse)

Recommended Posts

OOC: I'm looking to present this from a fansite perspective more than the bookers diary, so no long drawn out backstory this time. These first few posts will give all the usual information.
Royal Ring Puroresu Royal Ring Puroresu is a joint venture between Japanese horror movie director, and life long wrestling fan, Akitomo Tani and puro wrestling insider Masahide Sasaki. The combination of the public notoriaty of Tani, and the wrestling smarts of Sasaki have propelled RRP into the limelight even before their first show. They have all the resources to do great things, if they can snag some big talent away from the other organizations. Royal Ring focuses on hard hitting realistic fights that require pure wrestling ability, in that sense Royal Ring remains true to traditional Japanese wrestling roots. Royal Ring also opperates it's own dojo/training system, run by former BHOTWG jr. heavyweight star, Gnasher Udo. The RRP Dojo trains wrestlers to succeed physically, mentally, and financially in the tough world of professional wrestling.
MAIN EVENT: Shingen Miyazaki Shingen Miyazaki is a highly-rated Japanese worker who moved to Canada early in his career to learn his craft with the Stone family in NOTBPW. After three years in that environment, learing from fantastic workers like Dan Stone Jr, Jeremy Stone, and Sean McFly, he had turned into a fine versatile wrestler, and returned to his homeland to compete for Golden Canvas Grappling, but was soon picked up by Royal Ring Puroresu. Hidekazu Hidekazu was an integral part of the BHOTWG junior division during the 1990s, but a knee injury seriously reduced his mobility and he was released. He has since built himself back up as a good mat-based worker, and wants to re-establish himself in Royal Ring Puroresu. Nathan Coleman "The Pioneer" Nathan Coleman is a tough brawler from Oklahoma, who is best known for his work in Japan, where he is a particular favourite with the Golden Canvas Grappling fans. In fact, his Japanese work far overshadows his North American achievments, where he has mainly stuck to working occasional independent shows. His popularity in GCG got him a job here at Royal Ring. Stuart Ferdinand Stuart Ferdinand is a veteran American worker who has been a regular in Japan throughout his career, where his methodical technical style is respected. He was with Pride Glory Honour Wrestling for 5 years, but left in 2006 to try his luck with Golden Canvas Grappling instead. Since joining GCG, his main successes have been in the tag team ranks, where he has formed a highly-rated tandem with Nathan Coleman. It is widely predicted that they will taste tag team gold sooner rather than later. Eisaku Hoshino Eisaku Hoshino is hugely popular in Japan, where the fans love his tenacity and spirit. He was one of PGHW's aces until August 2006, when his poor relationship with head booker and rival Nobuatsu Tatsuko caused him to sensationally leave the company, declaring that he would work as a freelance wrestler instead. That brought to an end a hugely successful decade with the company, during which he had won just about every single honour available to him. Hoshino hopes to do the same here in Royal Ring. Hell Monkey Hell Monkey is a superb fighter from New York City, who is famous for his visually awesome entrance mask (he removes it when he actually wrestles). He has a very modern style to his ring work, blending incredibly stiff strikes with the technical skills and aerial ability of a Super Junior wrestler. He first came to people's attention in USPW, but his style didn't really fit with the promotion, and soon he was off to Japan, where he has become one of World Level Wrestling's favourites. He hopes to have the same success in RRP. Burning Exile Burning EXILE (Oniji Taka****a) is a talented but controversial Japanese wrestler, better known as Burning Taka****a. Originally a young sensation for BHOTWG, he got himself fired after an altercation with owner Kaneie Komine. From there he moved on to WLW, where he rebuilt his career with some incredible performances. In late 2006 history repeated itself, as he got himself fired again. He went on to declare himself a freelancer, and changed his name to Burning EXILE to reflect his status. UPPER MIDCARD: Koji Tanaka Koji Tanaka has been a big player in the Japanese independent wrestling scene for a long time now, and is looking to crack one of the big three. He is definitely talented enough to be a future ace. Masutaro Kataoka Masutaro Kataoka is a very good Japanese all-round worker who has surprisingly not been given an opportunity with any other major groups since being released by BHOTWG in late 2003. He wrestled for the company for 10 years, and gained a reputation for being a very reliable performer, and many still wonder why they released him. He is well known for two big moves in particular, a double arm suplex into a backbreaker, and his finisher, a raised single leg crab ("Sunrise Hold"). He hopes to show BHOTWG what they lost by shining here in Royal Ring. Strong Style Yoemon Hirokichi "Strong Style" Yoemon is a technical wrestler who has never been given the opportunity his talent deserves. This could be down to his poor look, as he often looks quite overweight. Recently he has been appearing for Pro Wrestling SAISHO, and clearly is hoping to attract the interest of a bigger company. He has a stunning running plancha for a guy who is 265lbs. Nariaki Hitomi Nariaki Hitomi is a young worker who came up through the BHOTWG youth ranks, eventually making his debut in 2005. Very impressive during his training, it had been rumoured that he was good enough to be considered a future world champion. However, it didn't take many matches before it became clear that while he was a decent worker, he was not as good as the hype had indicated. He was released in late 2006, and now has the difficult task of trying to rebuild his career after such a setback. Royal Ring may just give him that oppertunity. Spyder Yakuta Kimitada "Spyder" Yakuta is a technically sound wrestler, who is seen as a solid, dependable fighter. His small stature looks likely to ensure that he never becomes a huge star, but he is dangerous enough that he can't be taken lightly. Debuting for BHOTWG in 2002, he became known primarily as a tag team wrestler, teaming up with a variety of partners. He was released from the company in the summer of 2006, with rumours about a failed drug test surfacing soon after. Tasuku Shinozuka "Thunder Lizard" Tasuku Shinozuka is a good all-rounder, who famously does a fire-breathing routine before each match. He used to work as the masked Dragon Child when he was younger, back when he was a progressive 210lb super junior worker. A lengthy enforced break due to injury in 1998, and his 30th birthday, convinced him that the character had passed its sell-by date though, and when he returned in 1999 it was under his real name, and as more well-rounded 234lb worker. Toshinobu Taku Toshinobu Taku is a solid technical worker who has wrestled for just about every promotion in Japan at some point. He is ultra-solid, but is just too dull to become a star. Barry Griffin Barry Griffin first came to fame in his home country of England, where he became a star for the MOSC promotion, winning their world title on four separate occasions. He gained a reputation for being a solid technical competitor who could be relied upon to always bring the goods. A tour of Japan with Golden Canvas Grappling followed, and he has since become a regular with them, even moving to be based in Japan so that he can concentrate on his career. In early 2007 started working with Royal Ring Puroresu. MIDCARD: Evil Spirit Konosuke Hama made his pro debut in 2003, and while he did nothing wrong, over the next three years he found himself labelled as just another solid, dependable, unexciting young Japanese worker. Deciding to change that perception through creativity, he came up with a masked alter-ego, that of the psychotic Evil Spirit. The combination of crazy mask, cool worn leather outfit, and the subsequent increase in the violence of his matches quickly gave his career a new-found momentum. Harumi Okazawaya Harumi Okazawaya is a good all-rounder, who is known as someone who can make anyone look good in the ring, and so is ideal for putting over up-and-coming stars. The reason he himself has never gotten a big push is probably down to his lack of charisma, as despite his in-ring quality, he has never really developed the ability to connect with a crowd. His big trademark move is called Hurricane Harumi, and is a face crusher, performed after bouncing off the second turnbuckle. Hirokumi Saito Hirokumi Saito is a decent wrestler, who is particularly noted for his use of mixed martial arts-style knee strikes as an attacking weapon. He came through the PGHW youth system, and made his pro debut for them in 1997. He spent the next two years paying his dues, losing to more experienced stars, before having his most successful period in late 1999 \ early 2000 when he had occasional wins over some midcarders. He left in 2003, and has been working the independent scene ever since. Hitomaro Suzuki Hitomaro Suzuki is an extremely bright prospect, a hard-hitting 260lb blend of technique and fire. He was one of INSPIRE's top up and coming fighters before Royal Ring snatched him away. Mamoru Nagahama Mamoru Nagahama is a good solid technical worker, noted for the wide variety of suplexes he uses. Many thought that he'd become a big star when he started putting on great performances in the late 1990s for PGHW, but a recurring knee injury has meant that he has spent long periods of time on the sidelines, and he has never been able to achieve his full potential. After PGHW released him, he has been rehabbing his knee and looking for an opportunity to break back into wrestling. Mitsunari Fugunaga "Classic" Mitsunari Fugunaga is a young technical wrestler, who has the memorable entrance of driving down on a vintage motorbike, together with old-style biking gear. A charismatic competitor, a lot is expected of him in the future. Scarlet Samurai Scarlet Samurai is a character played by the veteran Japanese high flier Arata Yasuhiro. He first debuted the character in the early 1990s while working in the BHOTWG Junior division, and while he was never anywhere near the same level as legends like Optimus, he was popular with the fans. He left the company in 2000, and became a solid midcarder for World Level Wrestling for a few years. Now approaching retirement, recently he introduced his protege, White Samurai, to the public. SUKI SUKI is Ryunosuke Matsuki, a technically gifted young wrestler who was trained in the Golden Canvas Grappling dojo. While his talent was evident, he graduated at a time when GCG were trying to cut costs, and so he was never brought onto the main roster. Instead, he went to the independent scene, where he wrestled under his real name for a year. In 2006, as well as debuting an awesome new "dickish heel" persona, he changed his ring name to SUKI to reflect the change in attitude. Taheiji Konoe Taheiji "The Animal" Konoe is a young middleweight wrestler who made his pro debut in mid 2005. He got his nickname during his first few matches, when his savage intensity and killer instinct became apparent. That attitude got him signed by Warrior Engine XXV in 2006, and he soon got his first taste of gold when he and his tag team partner Munemitsu Sematsu, collectively known as The Pack, defeated The Peak Brothers to win the WEXXV Blood Brothers tag team belts. Tiger Fuyuki Kaneie "Tiger" Fuyuki is a solid reliable wrestler from the East. He worked under the name Kaneie Ichihara for many years, the name being a sign of respect to the legendary Hito Ichihara, who had helped him get into the business as a favour to Kaneie's father. Recently he has switched to his real name, although he is more often called Tiger (a nickname he's had for a while) than Kaneie. He is far from a spectacular worker, but he knows how to work a match and rarely disappoints. Utamuro Nishimuraya Utamuro Nishimuraya is a high flying worker who has decent skills. He was a part of BHOTWG's thriving junior division during the 1990s, wrestling both under his real name and under a mask as Green Panther, but never looked close to being as good as the greats like Optimus. Age has reduced his skills from their peak, but he can still work a decent match even if he is approaching retirement. His trademark finisher, a full nelson suplex known as the Panther Plex, is highly respected. White Samurai White Samurai is the protege and successor of the famous Junior worker Scarlet Samurai. The character is played by Mototsune Sanda (no relation to Noriyori Sanda, the PGHW worker), a young worker who Scarlet discovered working independent shows in 2005, and took under his wing. With his mentor's help, White Samurai has improved dramatically in his in-ring performances, and looks to be on the verge of big things, perhaps taking the Samurai name to new heights. LOWER MIDCARD: Champagne Lover Champagne Lover is one of the biggest stars in lucha history, thanks to his acting role as Antonio Ramoray on Mexico's most popular Soap Opera, The Young And The Fearless. He was a relatively popular wrestler before he had that role, thanks to his fantastic in-ring skills which blend traditional lucha with Eastern influences, but being on TV on a weekly basis has turned him from wrestling star to mainstream star. He dates Jennifer Heat, which is a relationship the Mexican media love to follow. Japanese Phoenix Japanese Phoenix is a masked Yodo Yoshizawa, a rookie worker from Tokyo who until 2004 was part of the dojo system with Golden Canvas Grappling. After being released by GCG he spent a two years working the independent scene to gain experience, and realised that he needed something to help him stand out from the pack. To do this, he took the drastic step of contacting Phoenix I in Mexico, and obtained permission to don the mask as the Eastern version of the famous character. KAZ KAZ is a youngster from Nagoya, who was a former trainee with BHOTWG. He toured the world in 2005, wrestling in as many places as he could, and the experience made him a far better and more versatile worker. Upon his return he was offered the chance to work for Pro Wrestling SAISHO, PGHW's feeder league. There, he impressed the powers that be at RRP enough to land a spot on their initial roster. Shiba Mizoguchi "The Crab Master" Shiba Mizoguchi is a young worker in Japan, whose trademark is his many variations of boston and single leg crab holds. Sadly, while he is fantastic and that sort of submission wrestling, he is one of the least flashy workers on the planet, and that may hurt his career in the long run. Recently he was working extensively for Pro Wrestling SAISHO, where like KAZ he impressed RRP scouts enough to land a spot on the roster. Tsurayuki Kamachi Tsurayuki Kamachi is a good solid technical wrestler, who is only going to improve with age. He is a product of the PGHW youth system, but was released upon graduation so that he could go and gain experience with other promotions. Yusuke Takahama Yusuke Takahama came to wrestling late in life, having been a professional baseball player until 2003, when he was forced to retire from the game, age 26, with an arm injury. He quickly set about preparing for a new career by enrolling in a dojo to learn how to wrestle, and proved an extremely quick study. He is now regarded as a good all-rounder with a solid work ethic, and while he is unlikely to ever headline a promotion, he would make a fine addition to any midcard. OPENER: Frankie Perez "P-Dawg" Frankie Perez is a talented young wrestler from California, who has swiftly risen to cult stardom with CZCW. A hard-hitter, Frankie is well known for his ultra stiff kicks, and it is his ultra-violent no-nonsense style of attack that has made him a huge favourite with tape traders and Internet fans around the world. A true student of the game, as 2007 begins, he is not only looking to continue to rise in CZCW, but has also made it clear that he'd like to travel to Japan to compete. Masakazu Kaima Masakazu Kaima is an exciting prospect from the Hokkaido region of Japan. Debuting in early 2005, he spent the first year and a half of his professional career paying his dues, getting beaten by older, more experienced workers. Recently he has been stepping up a little more; adding some muscle mass to a previously skinny frame has given him some new fire to work with, and he is now developing into a fine all-round worker with a bright future. Merle O'Curle Merle O'Curle, "The Irish Stretching Machine", is an excellent European-style submission worker, who seems to have an endless supply of painful holds in his arsenal. Perhaps his only drawback is that as good as he is technically, he is one of the least flashy wrestlers around, and that makes it hard to be successful with a large proportion of modern audiences. He holds the distinction of being the first and last wrestler to hold the short-lived 21CW Strong Style title. Snap Dragon The masked high flier Snap Dragon is a very highly rated competitor, most closely associated with CZCW. It was late 2004, having made a good name for himself on the independent circuit over the previous three years, that he joined the CZCW roster, and he has never looked back. A mainstay of the promotion, he is the only man to ever achieve the triple crown of Coastal Zone titles, and he even did it in "reverse" order! His 2006 cage match with Fox Mask is regarded as the best CZCW match ever. ENHANCMENT TALENT: Adam Matravers "Mile High" Adam Matravers is a talented all-round worker, specializing in high flying action. He is considered to be one of the most naturally talented UK worker of his generation. Toward the end of 2006 he was teaming with Petey Barnes in ROF as The Show Stealers and getting rave reviews. When 21CW were taken over by Jeff Nova and got a TV deal they became able to basically hand-pick any worker they wanted, and Matravers was one of their first signings, showing how highly rated he is. Jacob Jett "The Amazing" Jacob Jett is one of the most exciting prospects in the entire of North America. At the age of just 19, he burst onto the scene with Canadian Charisma Championship Combat, and soon had fans buzzing with his blend of charisma and stunning daredevil antics. They bestowed the nickname "Amazing" on him, and they certainly weren't wrong, as very few people can pull out so many incredible moments in a match. Jett could be a huge star in the making. JOSHI DIVISION: Angel Takudome Mitsuko "Angel" Takudome is an average all-round womens worker who is known for her trademark all-red attire. Technically sound, she is one for the future. Dragon Assassin Dragon Assassin is a martial arts expert who moved into wrestling recently, teaming with Dragon Power as The Serpents. Assassin has an awesome killer heel look, and some fine moves in her arsenal. Dragon Power Dragon Power is a stocky fighter, who regularly teams with Dragon Assassin as The Serpents. Although still a rookie, her natural power makes her a tough opponent, and she has a good killer instinct. Joanne Rodriguez Joanne "J-Ro" Rodriguez is a versatile young worker who is one of the fastest rising stars in women's wrestling for many years. After making a name for herself in CZCW, it was her move to AAA in 2004 that really kick-started her career, and by 2006 she had captured the prestigious Femme Fatale title and begun a long-running feud with her nemesis, Wanda Fish. On top of that, she has also been working for 5SSW in Japan, and is becoming a highly respected member of their roster too. Kit Hatoyama "White Lightning" Kit Hatoyama is a superb female worker, known for her all-white outfit and her extremely impressive ring work. Incredibly fast and athletic, she attacks with quick martial arts-style kicks and high flying moves from the top rope. During the 1990s she was a big part of 5SSW, but left in 2004 after complaining about feeling "burnt out". She returned to the promotion at the tail end of 2006, and looks to have regained her desire. Mitsu Ariwa Mitsu Ariwa is a female all-rounder, who has a solid technical background, but lacks the charisma or flashy moves to really become a superstar. She is known as the "Jade Dragon" due to her green outfit. Nene Ebina Nene Ebina is a good wrestler whose bad attitude has seen her constantly wrecking her own chances of success. She is one of the few women with MMA experience, and is known to be an extremely tough fighter. Shiori Jippensha Shiori Jippensha is a young worker who has gained the nickname "The Excellence Of Execution" due to her great technical wrestling. She is noted for being very crisp and precise in her technique and delivery, and brings a nice realism to her work. She made her pro debut in the summer of 2006, and has been working the independent scene since then, presumably hoping that 5SSW notice her, given that they are pretty much the only place where a female worker can make a living in Japan. Suzue Katayama Suzue Katayama is a veteran Japanese wrestler, noted for her impressive power. She broke into the sport in her homeland and had several good years with 5 Star Supreme Wrestling, but she eventually moved to the USA to be part of the Angel Athletic Association promotion. She has been a solid cornerstone of the company for many years. A good brawler, with all-round skills in reserve, she is a feared competitor, especially due to her devastating powerbomb finisher.

C- This match was not totally bad, but suffered from Jett and Kaima's inability to find a groove with one another. Most fans ignored the action and did their normal pre-show routines while these two fought it out.
Main Show:
Merle O'Curle vs. Barry Griffin -v- Barry Griffin defeated Merle O'Curle in 5:53 by submission with a Powerbomb Deathlock. C Griffin and O'Curle gave the show a decent opener that showed off O'Curle's excellent technical background, which the fans seemed to appreciate. Griffin did an excellent job of making O'Curle look dangerous out there before he took control at the very end to win with his signature Powerbomb Deathlock.

Frankie Perez vs. Japanese Phoenix -v- Frankie Perez defeated Japanese Phoenix in 5:34 by submission with a P-Clutch. D This match didn't look that believable as neither man wanted to sell at all. I was really disappointed with this match because I believe that both these men have a future here in Japan, and it's a shame to see them put on such an awful fight.

The Serpents vs. Mitsu Ariwa and Joanne Rodriguez -v- Mitsu Ariwa and Joanne Rodriguez defeated The Serpents in 7:32 when Joanne Rodriguez defeated Dragon Assassin by pinfall with a J-Rocker. D The fans where solidly against The Violence, which definitely made them feel much more "evil" than the previous few shows where they where met with indifference. The match however was pretty unspectacular. Also worth noting, Frankie Perez's loss tonight marks the end of his 2 match winning streak.

Merle O'Curle vs. Nariaki Hitomi -v- Nariaki Hitomi defeated Merle O'Curle in 7:58 by pinfall. C- O'Curle managed to carry Hitomi to a watchable match, too bad Hitomi beat him. I'm really hating this push for Nariaki Hitomi...I'm hoping the company smartens up and pulls the trigger on him loosing.

Coleman & Ferdinand vs. Shogun's Assassins -v- Coleman / Ferdinand defeated Shogun's Assassains in 6:06 when Nathan Coleman defeated Scarlet Samurai by pinfall with a Pioneer Twist. D+ Well, it was also watchable. White Samurai is definitely needing to kick his mentor to the curb, it's time for him to move on already. Coleman and Ferdinand are the only undefeated team here in RRP at this point.

Hitomaro Suzuki vs. Toshinobu Taku -v- Hitomaro Suzuki defeated Toshinobu Taku in 12:02 by submission. C- Not a terrible match by any means, but I still feel like Suzuki could do better. Of all the guys getting a push in the undercard I feel he's the one who's going to make it the farthest. Both Suzuki and Hitomi are 3-0 at this point.

Hell Monkey vs. Strong Style Yoemon -v- Hell Monkey defeated Strong Style Yoemon in 6:36 by pinfall with a Tumbling Monkey. C+ This was one hard hitting match. If Yoemon keeps having matches like that he could go places in my eyes. Hell Monkey was a no brainer to come out on top, but I was still in shock to see Yoemon put up such a decent showing.

Eiasaku Hoshino and Hidekazu vs. Koji Tanaka and Shingen Miyazaki -v- Koji Tanaka and Shingen Miyazaki defeated Eisaku Hoshino and Hidekazu in 13:34 when Shingen Miyazaki defeated Hidekazu by submission with an Ankle Lock. C+ The fans where pissed that Tanaka and Hoshino weren't involved in the ending, I guess they still want a conclusion from last weeks draw match between the two. Overall it was a good match, but like I said, the fans where rabid to see Tanaka pin Hoshino or Hoshino beat Tanaka so when that didn't happen they where upset.

OVERALL RATING: C I felt this was a stronger show overall then the last one, but the main event left me unsatisfied, which seemed to be the popular opinion. B- This was the strongest start to a Royal Ring show since I started attending the events. Definitely a good way to open up their biggest show to date. Hoshino and Miyazaki where on top of their games tonight, and it certainly didn't go unnoticed by the fans, who where really into this one.

Hell Monkey vs. Koji Tanaka (Royal Ring Crown Title Tournament Semi-finals) -v- Koji Tanaka defeated Hell Monkey in 13:09 by pinfall with a Koji Over Driver. B+ Even better than the last match, this tournament could be the highlight of the tour for Royal Ring, it sure has been so far, but there's still a month to go and another big show at the end of next month. As far as the match was concerned, Hell Monkey gave it everything he could, even hitting a Hell Fire Kick, but just couldn't overcome the immense fighting spirit of Koji Tanaka. The fans where electric, as they realized that Hoshino vs. Tanaka II would be taking place in the finals with a 1 hour time limit and NO DQ or Countout as per Royal Ring Crown title match rules...so there would be a decisive winner.

Frankie Perez vs. Merle O'Curle -v- Frankie Perez defeated Merle O'Curle in 5:12 by pinfall with a Perfect Parity. The Violence win the RRC Tag Team Title titles. D The Violence stood no chance in this match, so they cheated. Fans hated them for it, which is great for their heel image. Overall it was a pretty bland match. Even though I didn't mind the ending, the other fans just didn't buy it at all, not that it matters, as The Violence still walk out the Royal Ring Crown Tag Team Champions.

Nariaki Hitomi vs. Masutaro Kataoka -v- Nariaki Hitomi defeated Masutaro Kataoka in 5:55 by pinfall. C Kataoka was able to carry Hitomi to a C and admittably Hitomi was looking in top form tonight...but I still hate him. Kataoka was looking impressive in his debut for RRP, I've been looking forward to seeing him since they announced him as part of the roster, I wonder why it took so long to get him in the ring?

Adam Matravers vs. Strong Style Yoemon -v- Strong Style Yoemon defeated Adam Matravers in 4:50 by submission with a Yoemon Stretch Clutch. C Another solid match for Yoemon, and for Matavers for that matter. I have a feeling that if Matavers comes back next tour, he'll much higher up the card as he seems to be able to put on a good match with anyone. Yoemon should have gotten Hitomi's push in my opinion.

SUKI vs. Burning EXILE -v- SUKI defeated Burning EXILE in 11:32 by submission with a SUKI Special III. C+ Holy crap! SUKI won! No one was expecting that, although the fans went crazy for SUKI afterwards. This match wasn't quite as good as their first encounter, but it was still a good match. EXILE demanded a rematch at the PPV in March, saying he wants to knock SUKI back down the ladder not just in front of the fans that come to the shows, but in front of the entirety of Japan, and he'll wait a month to do that if he has to.

Kit Hatoyama vs. Nene Ebina vs. Joanne Rodriguez (RRC Joshi Title Match) -v- -v- Kit Hatoyama defeated Nene Ebina and Joanne Rodriguez in 9:36; the order of elimination was Nene Ebina first, and finally Joanne Rodriguez. Kit Hatoyama wins the RRC Joshi Title title. C- Not quite as good as I'm sure it could have been, but a decent match for the Joshi title. Hit Hatoyama definitely was the fan favorite here, and got a huge cheer for winning the belt. Koji Tanaka wins the RRC World Title title. B- Another solid match to end the tournament. Not quite as good as some people where expecting, but definitely not bad by any stretch of the imagination. Tanaka upset Hoshino to become the first Royal Ring Crown champion. There was a handshake and a celebration between the two before Hell Monkey and Miyazaki came down to break up the party...no attacks, just a lot of bad mouthing.

OVERALL RATING: C+ I definitely feel this was Royal Ring's best card to date. They could have cut out some of the filler matches, but the show was a half an hour longer than normal, so I guess they just threw them in their to fill extra time. I like all the champions, and was super surprised to see The Violence take the RRC Tag Team Titles, we'll see how long they can keep them though, as I'm sure Coleman & Ferdinand have their number. Hatoyama was surely the fans choice for the Joshi title (well mine at least), and she didn't disappoint tonight. I would have bet my house and life savings on Hoshino to take the tournament and the RRC Title, but then I'd be broke and homeless so I'm glad I'm not a betting man.
C Definitely a solid way to start out the show. A much better showing for Japanese Phoenix than his last match, which is nice because I think that with a few years he could be a big player for Royal Ring.

Mamoru Nagahama / Tiger Fuyuki vs. The Violence -v- The Violence defeated Mamoru Nagahama and Tiger Fuyuki in 6:50 when Taheiji Konoe defeated Mamoru Nagahama by pinfall with a Savage Cradle DDT. D I really like The Violence, they are entertaining and have a way of getting the fans to hate them, but good god do they ever suck up a match. Hopefully they'll keep improving because having tag team champions that can't work a match is no good.

Hirokumi Saito vs. Utamuro Nishimuraya -v- Hirokumi Saito defeated Utamuro Nishimuraya in 7:06 by pinfall with a Standing Knee Strike. D Another not so hot match. Saito and Nishimuraya both looked fairly decent here in their first outings for Royal Ring, but I'm sure they can both do much better.

Shiori Jippensha vs. Angel Takudome -v- Shiori Jippensha defeated Angel Takudome in 5:51 by submission with a Jippensha Leglock. D+ Mildly better than the last match, but not by much. I'm really glad that Kit Hatoyama is the Joshi champion and not some of these other girls...they just can't seem to hack it.

SUKI vs. Hitomaro Suzuki -v- Hitomaro Suzuki defeated SUKI in 17:47 by pinfall. C Hitomaro is getting better even since the start of the tour. It helps that he's gotten some higher caliber opponents lately as well. Tonight he had a very good match against SUKI that was hard fought by both men. So far this has been the match of the night.

Stuart Ferdinand vs. Strong Style Yoemon -v- Strong Style Yoemon defeated Stuart Ferdinand in 7:46 by submission with a Yoemon Stretch Clutch. D Ouch, this match was a train wreck from the get go. Ferdinand looked really half-ass out there, and Yoemon isn't quite good enough to cover up for that. Luckily Ferdinand didn't get rewarded for his half-hearted work with a win, as Yoemon continues his on push.

Barry Griffin vs. Nariaki Hitomi -v- Nariaki Hitomi defeated Barry Griffin in 10:37 by submission. D- Get this Hitomi jerk-off off the card...the fans hate him, I hate him, it appears other wrestlers hate working with him. They should change his name to "Intermission" Hitomi, or "Bathroom Break" Hitomi, because that's exactly what his enterance music signals.

Hell Monkey vs. Eiasaku Hoshino vs. Burning EXILE vs. Shingen Miyazaki -v- -v- -v- Hell Monkey defeated Burning EXILE, Eisaku Hoshino and Shingen Miyazaki in 33:53; the order of elimination was Shingen Miyazaki first, then Burning EXILE, and finally Eisaku Hoshino. B Another killer main event, and thank god for that after the suckfest that was that Hitomi / Griffin match. I was expecting Hoshino to take this setting up a rematch at Royal Kingdom Coronation, but Hell Monkey came out with the title shot. Definitely not a bad thing, considering Tanaka vs. Hell Monkey was the match of the night during the big Feburary show.

OVERALL RATING: C+ Well another really solid but fairly unspectacular card for Royal Ring. I don't ever regret attending the shows, but I rarely feel that they give me the same enjoyment as BHOTWG and GCG did when I was a kid. I just feel like they could do much better, it's tough right now with a lot of talent being locked in other companies, but I think they could do better with what they have.

Holy cow that's a big roster! And lots of neat renders in there - did they come with the game or are they imports?
The only one that I imported is Koji Tanaka. I'm not sure where he came from, I think it was sitting on my HD for months before I finally found a use for it.
