falling_star
I started looking around at other companies in my game as NWA with The Fall, and I'm starting to notice something: there seems to be a resurgance of tag team wrestling. In my company, the division lulled for a few months with a Dudleyz vs Road Warriors fued while I looked for some teams to bolster the division. First up, I signed John Kronus and put The Eliminators back together. Then I signed Monty Brown, and teamed him up with Ron Simmons as DOOM. They don't have good or bad chemistry, I just thought it would be a good way to get Monty over fairly quickly while still letting him develop into a passable singles worker. His basic skills are in the C range now, so I put them into a fued with the Road Warriors to help out his popularity (just breaking C-) and next up will probably be a run at the titles (not sure if they'll get them just yet, though). Eventually Monty will turn on Ron and launch himself towards the NWA North American Title. Anyway, Jeff & Matt Hardy's contract both came up in just short of two months of one another (Matt left AWF because it wasn't big enough, Jeff worked for FPW & NWA until I went National). Which bring in The Hardy Boyz. And I've got America's Most Wanted developing in dark matches. Over in FPW, Chavo Guerrero & Juventud Guerrera have been champions since Jeff Hardy left (he was holding the belts with Al Snow). KroniK is the only other team in the division since Too Cool became main event stars and basically quit teaming together (aside from the occasional main event against Austin & Booker). AWF has a pretty good scene going with Rikishi & Buff Bagwell teaming as The Big Time Players (I edit most tag names when they're created because I think most of the auto-names are dumb). They beat the New Age Outlaws for the belts. They also have The Mamalukes & The Bods (Kid Romeo & Evan Karagis) competing regularly, and The New Originals (Bill DeMott & Billy Kidman) have been putting on C+ or better matches with EVERYONE. When I took NWA National, I brought ESW under my umbrella as a development territory (editted the product to what I dubbed 'Edgy Traditional' - Traditional: Main Feature, Hardcore: Heavy and editted some contracts to expire in 1 day to simulate a 'restaffing'). They currently have The Island Boys and The Public Enemy still going, and have put together the team of Erik Watts & Joey 'Kaos' Munoz as Team Thunder (both guys are on development deals). EXTREME put together what I thought was a well-named team, The Underdogs of Norman Smiley & Mikey Whipwreck. Their division is hurting without The Dudley Boyz, though. LoneStar has a ROARING division. The computer put London & Kendrick together over in LoneStar (originally named Wreckless Intent or something similar, but I renamed them The HooliganZ. . . hopefully I'll be able to sign them away and let The Hardy Boyz make them a legitimate team in the NWA). They've also teams Leviathan (Batista) & Brock Lesnar as Destruction Inc., Horshu & Rodrageous as Arrogance & Aggresion, and still have The New Church working for them (and recently teaming together more often since Brian Lee lost the Texas Heavyweight title). Another computer generated team that I renamed, and thought was infintely amusing after a toke or two - RevX has Angel the Hardcore Homo and Excaliber teaming. The name? Team SWORD. Anyone else paid attention and seen some good tag teams & tag team matches come about? (In any scenario, really.)
Anderz
im playing a CZCW game in the 1997 Mod and my tag team picture is looking quite decent after 6 months... we've got Flex and Pecs and The Gilbert Brothers who were the original teams and both are former champions.. Flex and Pecs once and the Gilbert's twice.. then we've got the 'new' teams of the Fox Pack (Fox Mask and Flying Jimmy Foxx) who are former champions - obviously teamed together because they have similar names and in an effort tog et Fox Mask over.. The Dynamic Dancing Duo of regen workers 'Amazing' Andre Washington and 'Crazy' Christian Deeley.. who were formed as a jobber team - but Deeley was injured in his debut match for 2 and a half months so Andre has just been jobbing alone.. and finally.. The Zonettes are current two time champions, and consist of Raven Nightfall and the regen Katherine Kowalski.. clearly paired together as they are the only girls in the company.. and theyve run rough-shed over the tag division with their Double Low Blow finisher... the Fox Pack and Zonettes are planned to go back and forth with the titles for a while until I can get in another team to challenge them (or just rebuild the Gilberts).. Remianen
I am committed to tag team wrestling in all of my games so my roster has over a dozen formed teams (both C-Verse and of my own creation) and my tag champs get as much face time as my singles champs. I haven't noticed any ramped up tag team wrestling trends in my games. The few times I have seen it occur is when the local industry and economy are "flying high" and promotions can deal with the additional expenses involved in pushing tag team wrestling. Blackman
I don't really like tag team divisions that much. In the game, more often then not I do a few tag matches on the show, but without a title to support them. When I find the proper workers to form a tag team, it will happen, rest assured. But they will not make it as the main event as often as singles matches. Tag teams tournaments aren't even an option. :)
BlueStar
I tend to use tag teams to push wrestlers up the cards. I've given Davey Richards and El Generico (good chemistry) a run for a year and a half as a full time tag team and both are now solid uppercard wrestlers. The only downside seems that the rankings of a tag match are generally lower than singles competition.
flamebrain
Its ALL about the tag teams! :) I'm picking up the pieces with WWE and in addition to those already existing... Kendrick & London The Throwbacks Hass & Benjamin Cade & Murdoch Cryme Tyme I've reformed some older teams... La Resistance FBI Brought in some other ones... Kings of Wrestling Stampede Bulldogs The Briscoe Brothers The Naturals The West Hollywood Blondes And created some of my own... Funaki & Yang Hardcore Heroes (Dreamer and Richards) Wiliam Regal & Colt Cabana Shock & Awe (Daniel Rodimer & Justice Smith) With more to come! :) I hope to eventually expand the women's division to incorporate proper tag teams with a title to fight for as well. The only team I've split up is The Hardys but that's because I want to enforce the brand split and think both men have singles careers to be concentrating on. Michael Wayne
in my SHIMMER game.. WWE has some interesting teams. Elijah Burke and Ken Doane are teaming as "The Stunners". Marcus Cor Von and Doug Basham are "Team Tidal Wave". They've got Londrick, D-X, and Regal and Taylor. In addition to stealing Road Dogg and Gunn from TNA and reforming NAO. There's also an interesting team of Carlito and Rey Mysterio "Darkness Falls". TNA has Raven and Jarrett teaming as "The Trailblazers". Daniels and Styles are "The Outlaws", Senshi and Starr are "The Creatures"... They've got Team 3-D and LAX as well as Kazarian and Bentley... And the last two teams... "Pearl Slam" with Spike Dudley and Scott Steiner, and "Full Force" with Samoa Joe and Alex Shelley.
infinitywpi
Um... lesse... I honestly can't recall having more than three regular tag teams on the roster in Welcome to the Coastal Zone. First, theres The Backyarders (Daredevil Aero and Super Sonic). They've been pretty much the standard bearers of the division. We have 'Marc Speed and his current partner', which has been Snap Dragon, Nathanial Casino, and is now Fearless Blue in the team Blue Shift. We usually have a team of uppercard/main eventers who're 'slumming it' in the tag division, usually to win the titles until someone gets 'good enough' to beat them, where they go back to singles competition. Right now, that's filled by... The Gilbert Brothers of all people, who've gotten popular enough in Canada to spillover into the US and thus were two of my biggest re-signings... pity their skills haven't improved. Previous teams have included The Mexican Revolution (which varied in members and midcard/uppercard status), The Wacky Tag Team That Hates Each Other (Rod Remus, the rookie phenom, and Jeremiah Moose, the stoner getting a shot at a push), things like that. Yeah, the Tidal Tag Titles aren't highly regarded in my game...
Day_Dreamer
I have a moderately good tag division in my game. Here's my teams, and oh, I'm playing DOTT Horsemen (Arn and Windham) - Champions Freebirds (Hayes and Buddy Roberts) Freebirds 2 (Hayes and Terry Gordy) Freebirds 3 (Gordy and Buddy Roberts) Showstealers (Steamboat and Orndorff) Steiners (Rick and Scott Steiner) Funks (Dory and Terry) Primadonnas (Adrian Adonis and Jesse Ventura) and here's the best team ever, they're going for the gold right now, Gods of War (HARLEY RACE and STAN HANSEN)
mystic
I will sometimes have tag matches, but as far as an actual tag team divison with titles I usually end these due to a weak crop of teams.
chefboyrdz
In my game with the T-Zone data I created my own fed called Pacific Northwest Championship Wrestling and I have a pretty good tag division right now. Ballord Brothers (Shane & Shannon) First ever PNCW Tag Team Champions Highlanders (Rory & Robbie McCalister) got them when WWE dropped to cult Maximos (Jose & Joel) former Tag Team Champs Children of Pain (Darin Child & Jacob Ladder) currant Tag Team Champs North Star Express (Ryan Cruz & Darin Corbin) Rains Brothers (Memphis & MR2) I have also had some teams come in for one shoots like. SCUM (Killswitch & Wrathchild) CW Anderson & Minuri Ring Crew Express (Kevin Dunn & Mark Marcos) TNT (Tyson Dux & El Tornado)
James Casey
Well, as MAW, I have the Canadian Blondes and Natural Storm as my face teams and Strong Mayhem (Erik Strong and Max Mayhem) and Spirit of the North (Evil Spirit and Nigel Svennssonn). Which is a feeble roster. I've got about a dozen pretty useless workers who I'm mixing and matching in tag matches, and have been for about four months, two or three matches a month. But I've not found any decent teams so far...
Dead_Jester
Im using the NWA in the Fall scenerio too. While i think my tag division is quite good alot of the teams need developing before they can hold the belts with any kind of credibility. So far the Dudley Boys, Chris Candido & Jamie Knoble, The Road Warriors and Crowbar & Saturn are my top teams, the Briscoe Brothers, despite a bad face turn, are developing nicely and i have David Young & CW Anderson (The Enforcers), Americas Most Wanted and Randy Orton & Jerry Lynn rounding out the lower card teams. My other big problem at the moment is that we have just hit National and alot of contracts are due to expire soon, and my boss, Ric Flair, won't let me re-sign alot of guys because they are asking for too much money, Jarrett and the Big Boss Man were going to have a tag title run and feud with Sting and DDP but Jarrett is refusing to re-sign and the Boss Man (A Popularity in the US) is asking for more than what Flair is willing to let me pay out, i fear DDP and Sting may end up being the same. cappyboy
Just started a new DOTT game as the AWA and things don't look that great at the moment. But that's my main focus at the moment. I really want to get the tag division in shape. Since my light heavy division starts off as a with two really clunky guys in Buck Zumhofe and That Other Steve Regal,I'm thinking of shutting that division down altogether and giving it's card space to the tags. So to go with The High Flyers and The Heenan Family team of Patera and Blackwell that are the defaults. And have been trying to sign up guys that can go in the mix. Among them being The Nasty Boys (my rookie job team) Curt Hennig Lanny Poffo Jim Powers Rick Gibson (as in Robert's brother) Bam Bam Bigelow Jimmy Del Ray (renamed J.D. Ray to keep me from losing him on the list next to fellow Jims Brunzell and Powers) The Nastys are the only team I've fully decided on though. Poffo's playing The Genius and I've thought about him with either Gibson or Bigelow. With the other guy possibly going to Hennig. Although I haven't fully decided on whether Curt would be in this division or whether he'd work to the TV title of Doctor D. David Schultz. Gibson's face by default so I suppose I could put him with Powers. But seeing that I always felt Powers deserved better, I'd prefer to see if a more skillful partner could polish Jim up for me. Although admittedly Gibson does have solid personality skills for a guy who never got national traction.
Dragonmack
Not much in the way of tag teams in my current game, but my last NYCW diary my best tag teams were Natural Storm who won it like 4 times and grew to keep pace with the midcard as my promotion grew, and Next Gen, which was Casey Valentine and Al Coleman. Now in TEW 2005 I had hot tag teams of Steve Flash/Hell Monkey , Jacob Jett/Nevada Nuclear , and Darryl Devine?Hell Monkey all with great chemistry together and all going from mid card to upper mid and main eventer off their tag team feuds. Tweek It
In my WWE, I recently made the ECW Tag Team titles and actually ECW has the most tag teams now after my recent draft. RAW - Current champions are Eaton & Flair [Eaton is set to retire at the end of the month and this will give me something to do with Flair as well] The Throwbacks (drafted from Smackdown) Murdoch & Cade The Major Brothers [recently moved to Raw] SD! - Current champions are Funaki & Moore [Beat The Throwbacks during their feud] Regal & Taylor The Hooligans The Motor City Machine Guns [recently called up from OVW] ECW The Sandman & Dreamer - Champions The Pitbulls [Noble & Kash] The Highlanders [drafted from Raw] Cryme Tyme [drafted from Raw]
Von Dozier
I'm playing WCW Rebirth in the War's End mod, and I have so many green teams I don't know what to do with them. I have Rey/Kidman as the Filthy Animals, set as the tag champs. They're really over, and their momentum has been set at B+ for quite a while. I'm putting them in a feud with the Maritato's, Johnny Da Bull and Big Vito (Little Guido's stable of Big Vito, Johnny Da Bull, and "The Mod" Michael Modest) I'm kinda finding the way Tommy set these teams to be a little odd. I signed Balls & Axl, and had to create their team myself, as they weren't in the database as an established tag team. So I have Balls & Axl as an F- tag team. I also signed Doring & Roadkill and had to create them myself, so that's another F- team. I created a team for Eric Bischoff, set with the Sycophant gimmick (ass kissers :D) The Association (Doug Williams and Ace Steel). I kept the Jung Dragons and Boogie Knights as is, but I split O'Haire and Palumbo and put them back with their respective teams, Jindrak & O'Haire and The Perfect Event (Palumbo and Stasiak). Turned J&O face to feud with Perfect Event. That's basically the state of my WCW tag division so far.
hurricanendp
in my current ECW game, i've actually got quite a healthy tag division for once, but they aren't utilised, it's really based around 2 teams. Adrenaline Rush (Elijah Burke and Gregory Helms) are my current champions and The Dudleys are the main challengers My other teams are: The Bashams Black Attack (Mark Henry and Shelton Benjamin) FBI (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) Motor City Machine Guns (Shelley and Sabin) Next Generation (Prototype and The Kidd (2 generated workers)) Have just released The Naturals as well, and did have Violent Conduct (A-Train and Heidenreich) until i released A-Train
W3LSHY
I'm currently playing as WWE and my Tag Team Division is thriving. Infact i think I have too many because i'm only running 2 Tag Fueds, and that's 1 On RAW and one on Smackdown! RAW Cade and Murdoch - Not doing much at all, Infact they are my Heel Jobbers, as personally I don't think they're much good at all. Cryme Tyme - On RAW, just finished fueding with World's Greatest Tag Team over the Titles, although as of this moment i am pushing for them to work as single competitors, especially 'Big Shad'. La Resistance (Dupree and Conway) - They are fueding with WGTT over the Titles, and I think I might put the Titles on them, although if I do I will need to improve there Overness. MNM - Although they are a Tag Team, they are working as singles wrestlers at the moment, but I might bring them back together in the near future though. The Highlanders - Basically how WWE uses them, The Highlanders are my Face Jobbers. World's Greatest Tag Team - Currently World Tag Champs and fueding with La Resistance. Smackdown! Blue World Order (Stevie Richards and Nova AKA Simon Dean) Currently just chewing up the Tag Division, debuted them about a Month ago, and despite Richards being a Enhansment Talent, I do want to push him, just to see how good he can get. Deuce and Domino - Not quite Jobbers, but they do normally job when i see fit, do pick up the odd victory in dark matches against 'Try-Out' Teams. HooliganZ - Current Champs, but I do want the Titles off them, because I want them to go to the Ever-Lacking Cruiserweight Division, and maybe a fued between themselves? Regal and Taylor - Another tag team I have no interest in, compete the odd match but nothing Big in terms of pushes. Team Terrorism (Chris Kanyon and Caprice Coleman) I renamed Kanyon 'Osama Iraq' and Caprice 'Saddam Iraq'. Haven't debuted yet, just hyping Promo's, but when they do, they will be the future of the SD! Tag Division, all based on their gimmick. Not because i'm for Terrorism, but both have been improving immensly and super over after developing in DSW for a while. Probably the one's to take the Tag Titles from the HooliganZ. The Hardy Boyz - Getting a big push, although have just recently come off the losers in a Fued with HooliganZ. Will probably be the ones to give Team Terrorism there first big Fued. Basically I am Planning for La Resistance to win the World Tag Titles at Wrestlemania and Have Team Terrorism win the Smackdown Tag Titles, and thus making London and Kendrick Fued.
