Seeing that the world of sports-entertainment was in need of change, Heyman decided to take the fledging company and kick it into overdrive. Bringing in a collection of fearless wrestlers like Tommy Dreamer, the Sandman and Sabu, he began staging events that offered fans a breathtaking mix of brutal action and cutting-edge wrestling. The result was Extreme Championship Wrestling, a hardcore promotion whose fearlessness and innovation caused a tremor that is still being felt today. With its take-no-prisoners mindset, ECW quickly won a loyal following whose fevered chants of “ECW! ECW! ECW!” rang to the rafters of the bingo hall the company called home. By the beginning of the millennium, ECW had grown from local sensation to national phenomenon. ECW stars had been seen on Monday Night RAW and had brought the company to The Nashville Network (now Spike TV). However, mounting financial pressures would prove to be the company’s undoing. In 2001, Heyman was left with no choice but to file for bankruptcy. Although it seemed ECW was dead, the company refused to stay buried. The war cries of “ECW!” were still heard in arenas everywhere and in 2004, The Rise and Fall of ECW went on to become one of the highest-selling DVDs in WWE history. The success of last year’s pay-per-view event ECW: One Night Stand at last set the stage for one of the most dramatic and unprecedented returns ever seen. Now that ECW is back, all bets are off and sports-entertainment will never be the same again. Brace yourselves, things are about to get Extreme! The show started with Paul Heyman making a speech on why the company was back. It wasn't him nor Vince McMahon who brought it back, it was the fans. If ever the term "by popular demand" was relevant, it was in reference to the rebirth of ECW. And with the new weekly TV deal on the Sci-Fi channel in the states, it seems ECW is back and back for good. Jerry "The King" Lawler vs Tazz When Tazz challenged Jerry Lawler to a match at ECW One Night Stand, he promised "The King" that he would choke him out. With a little help from Joey Styles, The Human Suplex Machine kept his promise and defeated Lawler by submission in less than a minute. As Lawler made his entrance, he stared down Joey Styles at the announce table. "The King" then slapped his former broadcast partner ****ily before heading down to the ring, but that ended up being his downfall. As Lawler stepped into the ring, Styles jumped on his back. "The King" shook him off and went for a piledriver, but made the fatal mistake of turning his back on Tazz. The Human Suplex Machine used the opportunity to grab Lawler and apply the Tazzmission. "The King" had no counter, passing out in the hold to give Tazz the quick victory. Following the match, Tazz joined Joey Styles on commentary, saying that since he had such a quick night he might as well hang out with Joey. Winner = Tazz via Submission Randy Orton vs Kurt Angle Back in April, Kurt Angle made Randy Orton tap out to the Ankle Lock on SmackDown, breaking his ankle in the process. The Olympic Gold Medalist made it two in a row over the Legend Killer at ECW One Night Stand, making Orton tap to win his first singles match as an ECW wrestler. Sporting a mouthpiece that bore the ECW logo, an intense Angle went for the quick kill. Knowing that Orton's broken ankle might not be fully healed, the Wrestling Machine tried to apply the Ankle Lock early and often. However, Orton was able to counter his early attempts much to the dismay of the capacity crowd; as Orton stood outside the ring after one escape, the crowd began a derogatory chant for him, showing Orton exactly how hostile an environment he was in. Angle continued his mat-based attack, but the Legend Killer was able to turn the tide. With the crowd firmly behind him, however, Angle nailed a German suplex and went for the Angle Slam. Orton escaped once, but would fall victim to the move later in the match. With the crowd chanting "break his ankle," Angle slapped on the Ankle Lock once again. Orton escaped and went for his signature RKO, but the Wrestling Machine blocked it by simply dropping the RAW Superstar to his back. The Olympic Gold Medalist then slapped on the Ankle Lock once more, dropping down into a heel hook for extra added measure. The Legend Killer had no choice but to tap out, giving Angle his first ECW victory. After the match, Orton needed to be helped to the back, telling referee Mike Posey "my ankle is messed up man!" As he was assisted to the locker room, the raucous crowd serenaded him with one more derogatory chant for the road. In the locker room, an emotional Angle said that he relished his first chance to wrestle in front of an ECW crowd. "It was more than I expected; the ECW crowd is a 'prove me wrong' kind of crowd," the Wrestling Machine said. "They expect a lot out of you, and they're more appreciative of the business than any other fans that I've found. I'd rather perform in front of 2500 fans at the Hammerstein Ballroom than 25,000 at Madison Square Garden because these fans are so passionate. They made me feel like I owned them." Winner = Kurt Angle via Submission Full Blooded Italians w/Big Guido vs Super Crazy & Toshihiro Tajiri The FBI is back (Full Blooded Italians) and they took on the "Insane Luchadore" Super Crazy and the return of Yoshihiro Tajiri in a great tag match. Lots of high flying moves, mat work, quick tags and insults from the crowd throughout this one. Towards the end Tajiri & Crazy hooked on duel Tarantulas as Big Guido entered. They double kicked Guido to the mat, but Mamaluke and Little Guido entered and threw out Crazy. Tajiri got hit with a double Fisherman Driver and was covered for the 3 count. Winners = Full Blooded Italians via Pin Fall JBL up on the balcony at the Hammerstein Ballroom proceeded to give us a history lesson on what happened at last years ONS between him and The Blue Meanie. He also states that since Tazz left Smackdown for ECW, he was now the new announcer and the new voice of Smackdown. World Heavyweight Championship Match Sabu vs Rey Mysterio What many considered a "Dream Match" between Rey Mysterio and Sabu for the World Championship turned into a nightmare for both competitors. In the end, the match was declared a No Contest by Dr. Louis Rios, meaning that Mysterio retained the World Championship. Mysterio and Sabu, both well-known for their high-flying ability, did not disappoint the capacity crowd in the Hammerstein Ballroom to that end. They also didn't disappoint the fans looking for the hardcore side of the match, as early on they tried to take each others' heads off with chairs. Sabu nearly had the World Championship won on a couple of occasions, but Mysterio was able to escape the pin falls after Sabu's signature Arabian Facebuster and a Triple Jump Moonsault. An ECW alumnus himself, the champion went back to his hardcore roots late in the match by nailing Sabu with a seated senton that put both men through a table. He then Dropped Da Dime, but this time it was the challenger's turn to escape the pin fall. The two men then brutalized each other some more, with the champion going for another seated senton but landing groin first on a chair. Sabu then threw a chair at Mysterio and set a table up at ringside. At that point, what would be the most brutally hardcore moment of the match also ended up becoming the last. As Rey stood on the table, Sabu flew at his opponent and caught him in a headlock, nailing a DDT that drove both men down through the table. Champion and challenger both landed hard and awkwardly on the floor, and doctors and officials ran to ringside to check on them. After a consultation, Dr. Rios declared that both men were unfit to continue and the match was stopped. Sabu and Mysterio were immediately helped back to the locker room as the stunned crowd tried to soak in the carnage they had just seen. Winner = No Contest After the last contest Matt Hardy came down to the ring in an ECW T-Shirt to a good response from the fans, he went on to tell the crowd that he has agreed to make the jump to ECW after talking to Paul Heyman, claiming this is the ideal environment for Matt to do what he loves in. A lover of the old ECW, Hardy told the crowd it was a dream of his growing up to one day wrestle in ECW and now that dream will be coming true, he also promised that whatever happens, Matt Hardy will not die! Mick Foley, Edge & Lita vs Tommy Dreamer, Terry Funk & Beulah What started as a Hardcore tag team war ended up becoming a six-person slug fest; in the end, the extra addition that made the challenge ended up being the loser of the match as Edge, Mick Foley & Lita defeated Terry Funk, Tommy Dreamer & Beulah McGillicutty. Before the match began, the WWE trio once again ran down ECW and its fans, with the Rated-R Superstar calling them all pathetic. Lita then said that when she pinned Dreamer on Wednesday night, it was better for him than it was for her. The ECW team came out accompanied by Beulah, and the extreme knockout had some words of her own for Lita: "I know you like threesomes, so let’s just make this official. Three on three, time to put up or shut up!". With that, the match was on, and it was as brutal and bloody as the fans in the Hammerstein Ballroom expected. Edge & Foley tried to keep it clean, but once Dreamer & Funk went under the ring for a barbed-wire board the hell was unleashed. Beulah and Lita stayed out of the match for the most part as the four men threw just about anything they could find at one another. Funk became a bloody mess courtesy of some barbed wire; bleeding profusely, he had to be helped to the back towards the end after Foley raked the barbed wire right across his eyes. With Funk out of the picture, it looked like Dreamer was easy prey. The WWE team nailed a Mandible Claw/spear combo, but before the pin fall, Funk returned with a bandaged head and a barbed wire board. Eventually, the board was lit on fire and used on both Edge & Foley, with one shot sending a burning Hardcore Legend crashing through a barbed wire board on the floor. Funk soon joined him, and as Beulah and Lita finally got into the anticipated catfight, Dreamer grabbed Lita and nailed her with a Spicolli Driver. When he turned to celebrate, however, Edge snuck up behind him, and after wrapping barbed wire around Dreamer's head, the Rated-R Superstar dropped him straight down on his head. Dreamer was ripe for the picking, but what Edge did next truly showed what kind of "hardcore man" he really is. As Beulah checked on Dreamer, Edge prepared his attack. When she stood, Edge ran and nailed her with a vicious spear, driving her head into the mat. The Rated-R Superstar then grabbed the lifeless Beulah's legs and rolled her up, pinning the extreme Diva for the winning fall. Following the match, the bloodied and battered Funk had to be cut out of the barbed wire board; he would later need five stitches to close his wounds. Winners = Mick Foley, Edge & Lita via Pin Fall Balls Mahoney vs Masato Tanaka Last year Tanaka had one of the best matches at the ONS PPV with Mike Awesome, but this year he looked thinner and seemed to be injured, but since when does that stop an ECW wrestler. Balls got a quick advantage with a suplex and the Balls Shuffle. Tanaka drop kicked him outside and hit a plancha only to be caught by Balls. He got a few beers from the crowd and hit Tanaka with them. Back in the ring and both men have chairs which they use to block each others shots. Balls gets a kick in on Tanaka and blasts him with a huge chairshot. Covers him for the 3 count, and the chair swinging freak gets the win. Winner = Balls Mahoney via Pin Fall Next up Eugene! Who left the doors open at the asylum? Eugene starts telling the hostile ECW crowd how much he loves them which didn't go down to well. Then he reads a poem he dedicated to ECW which brought chants, which in no uncertain words told him to be quiet. Another thing that brought out, was The Sandman equipped with Singapore cane and beer. As he made his way down from the balcony he must've had about 4 beers. When he finally made it to the ring he didn't look best pleased. Eugene wanted to make friends but Sandman wasn't having any of it and blasted him with the cane. As Eugene got back up Sandman decided a few more Cane shots were needed before he tossed Eugene over the top rope to floor, with Eugene landing rather awkwardly, which brought out a few more members of the medical team on hand. All whilst The Sandman downed a few more beers in the ring and with the fans. WWE Championship Match Rob Van Dam vs John Cena John Cena has overcome the odds time and time again. He has endured Steel Cage Matches, I Quit Matches and even the Elimination Chamber. But it was just too much Sunday night at ECW One Night Stand for The Champ to overcome. Cena was able to adapt to the most rabid and hostile crowd he has ever seen, but he could not overcome Edge spearing him through a table, the Five Star Frog Splash and an impromptu three-count by Paul Heyman in this Extreme Rules Match. And when the bell rang, Rob Van Dam made history and was declared the Champion. But what Championship did he win - was it the ECW or WWE Championship? The capacity crowd at the Hammerstein Ballroom was one of the loudest and relentless crowds ever heard, but their reactions all night paled in comparison to when RVD was announced as the new champion. After RVD was handed the gold, the place erupted and it sounded as if it was Mardi Gras, Spring Break and New Year's Eve all at the same time. The fans were high-fiving each other, RVD climbed up to the balcony and celebrated with his wife, and then joined his ECW brothers who had filled the ring. RVD hoisted on the shoulders of his hardcore compatriots was the final scene at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, but it was an insanely wide ride that led to that moment. From the moment Cena entered the ring, he was bombarded with loud and insulting chants that are not even fit to print. When throwing his shirt and hat into the crowd, they were thrown back time and time again. Cena knew he would be traveling into hostile territory, but he was still visibly upset at the reaction. But as time wore on, Cena got used to the crowd, and at times even seemed to enjoy it. He taunted the extremely loyal fans with his Five Knuckle Shuffle, and was even brave enough to follow RVD into the crowd for an attack. It seemed like everyone in attendance was Cena's enemy, but he didn't count on Edge being one of them. With RVD on the outside, a mysterious man in a motorcycle helmet speared Cena through a table which was propped up in a corner. He slowly took off his helmet to reveal his identity and was mat in unison with a thunderous cheer of, "Thank you, Edge," by the ECW fans. Edge also knocked out referee Nick Patrick before exiting. With that RVD came in and saw the fallen Cena before promptly climbing the ropes for his patented Five Star Frog Splash. After hitting the maneuver he tried to revive Patrick, but to no avail. Paul Heyman then rushed to the ring, RVD made the cover, and the head of ECW made the three-count and history was made. Winner = Rob Van Dam via Pin Fall to become the new WWE Champion! © 2006 ECW, Inc. As said on titles page, we will post updated version down the road, as for one we will have to increase the size of roster eventually. Now Thats Cool
Pre-Show News Report Monday 12th June 2006

Monday 12th June 2006 WWE Championship, ECW Schedule, ECW Roster >< Following on from One Night Stand II its expected the WWE Championship, won by Rob Van Dam against John Cena is going to be exchanged by Paul Heyman for the ECW World Heavyweight Title. Then the current plan is for a tournament to be held on RAW for the vacant WWE Championship, with John Cena and Edge expected to continue their feud by both making it to the final. >< Tomorrow nights ECW debut show will be taking place in the Hammerstein Ballroom, which is the same venue One Night Stand took place in, its thought Paul Heyman wanted to start in the famous venue and build it as a special home for ECW. After this week the following ECW shows will see them travel around some of the past arenas in which held ECW events, with an idea of then going back to the Hammerstein Ballroom for PPV's. Of which the first ECW PPV has been announced as Heat Wave 2006, taking place in around 7 shows time on Sunday July 30th 2006. Its not known if they will continue to use past arenas or will start touring smaller newer venues in other cities as in the future. >< With the inclusion of the ECW World Television & World Tag Team Titles on the ECW website, it would seem the roster will continue to grow over the initial few months, to allow for enough wrestlers to provide good competition to each title. Our sources in the know are suggesting a few more names from the RAW & SD brands could see themselves moved onto ECW, with no major names expected, many see The Pitbulls as possible contenders having only been used on Velocity so far. Heyman is also believed to be looking to use many of the development talent in OVW, having of course worked with them over the previous months, no names have been mentioned yet, but Elijah Burke, CM Punk, Mike Knox and Kevin Fertig (aka Seven in OVW) are seemingly being primed for roles. I can't wait for the action to get started, ECW is back baby!" [Styles] - "Your not wrong Tazz, I can't wait either, I'm getting chills just thinking about our main event, its the essence of old school ECW against the essence of the new breed as "ECW's Evel Knievel" Sabu goes one on one with "The Extreme Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle!" [Tazz] - "Its gonna be off the hook Joey. Kurt Angle is the best wrestler on the planet bar none and Sabu, well he is just plain crazy, but you gotta wonder Joey what sort of shape his body is in after his match with Rey Mysterio at One Night Stand." [Styles] - "Great point Tazz, but now its time to get the show on the road, with wrestling, yes, we've tag team action to start, its the Full Blooded Italians against The Mexicools and don't forget fans, its old school ECW rules here, meaning there are no rules....." A highlight package of the action from the One Night Stand encounter between F.B.I and Super Crazy/Tajiri is shown. [Styles] - "What a tag team match those four put on only two nights ago Tazz, the F.B.I stole the win but the outcome might be completely different tonight as Super Crazy is back with his regular tag team partner Psicosis." "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" by Beastie Boys came on over the speakers as Trinity, in a rather revealing outfit, lead her men, Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke; The Full Blooded Italians out through the brick wall entrance and down to the ring, with typical F.B.I gestures along the way to crowd members, which of course brought them some boos. [Tazz] - "Oh boy I love ECW, look at Trinity's outfit Joey, I can't keep my eyes off her..... " [Styles] - "Enough all ready Tazz, its like being next to "The King" all over again." "Mexicools" then hit the sound system as Psicosis & Super Crazy came out from the back to a good response from the crowd, they quickly five fived their way to the ring, minus the John Deere lawn mowers. Tag Team Match Full Blooded Italians w/Trinity vs The Mexicools A solid opening match for the return of ECW with the mix of cruiserweight and Luchadore styles working well together to provide an exciting fast paced match. Early on Psicosis and Tony Mamaluke had an exchange of punches followed by a can you top this in terms of high flying moves, finishing off with Psicosis hitting a springboard spinning heel kick for a close pin attempt, which was broken up by a diving Little Guido. After this F.B.I managed to isolate Psicosis for the next few minutes, with many quick tags and a few submission holds. Later in the match Psicosis finally managed to tag Super Crazy in after a tilt-a-whirl headscissors to Mamaluke and the whole match broke down into a free for all. Psicosis and Mamaluke spilled to the outside of the ring after Psicosis hit a front flip plancha over the top rope to the outside that started the first ECW chant for the official return of ECW. With Little Guido and Super Crazy left in the ring, Guido hit a low blow and went for the Sicilian Slice, but Crazy ducked his head down, sending Guido crashing to the mat. Super Crazy picked him up quickly and nailed a sit out Crazy Bomb for the pin fall victory for The Mexicools. Winners via Pin Fall = The Mexicools (7:45) An action replay of the Crazy Bomb on Little Guido is shown. [Styles] - "What a match and a great victory for The Mexicools Tazz. After looking at both Al Snow and Head they begin laughing. [Doring] - "Al, after all these years you're still talking to that stupid Head? Why don't you get a real friend....or a real girlfriend, like my girl Kelly here." [Snow] - "Stop staring at the nice lady....Yes, its rude to stare....Yes, even if they don't catch you." Danny Doring smiles at Kelly after looking her up and down before going back to make fun of Al Snow. [Doring] - "You know Al I can see why you talk to Head, cause it's hardly likely someone as hot and beautiful as my Kelly would even give you a second glance, let alone talk to you. But thats what happens when you're nothing but a LOSER! Guys like you are taking up my camera time and I'm tired of it! You're old and washed up, whilst I'm "Dashing" and great looking, not aged a day, unlike you. So here's some advice Al, give up that stupid Head and start idolizing someone that could actually do you some good, like me, "Dashing" Danny Doring. Come on baby let’s go...." Danny Doring and Kelly walk off hand in hand as the camera shot goes back to Al Snow with Head. [Snow] - "Don't cry buddy, we'll get them, don't you worry." [Styles] - "So it seems like Danny Doring has a brand new girlfriend and from the looks of it, Head has given a seal of approval if you will. Its time for the first commercial break of the night, but stay tuned as after our ECW Messiah Paul Heyman will be crowning Rob Van Dam as the official ECW World Heavyweight Champion...." Commercial Break As we come back from the break "This is Extreme!" began to play as the mad scientist of ECW himself Paul Heyman came out from the back, with the ECW World Heavyweight Title over his shoulder. Heyman got into the ring as the fans started chanting "Thank You Paulie" as he looked around the Hammerstein Ballroom and smiled wildly. He waited for the crowd to quiet down before speaking. [Heyman] - "No, thank you, the ECW fans. Now, I'm going to keep this brief I promise, cause as you all know ECW is not one to bore you with thirty minute promos like some of the "other brands", thats not what ECW is or ever will be about. Tonight I'm out here to conduct a little bit of official business, cause as you all know this past Sunday at One Night Stand, ECW had a couple of opportunities to obtain a major WWE title and thanks to Rob Van Dam ECW took one. Rob Van Dam defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship, but ECW simply doesn't want it, you see ECW could keep the title and hold it hostage if you will, however ECW does things its own way, with its own titles, hence this title I've got in my hands right here, the ECW World Heavyweight Title. So Rob, if you could come out here...." "Walk" by Pantera started to play bringing out Rob Van Dam through the brick wall entrance with the WWE Championship draped across his shoulder. RVD received a great response from the fans as he took his time walking to the ring, looking around, high fiving the fans and taking in the reactions. Once in the ring he shook hands with Paul Heyman and got a mic from the ring announcer. [Van Dam] - "Man, it's great to be back in ECW, now Paul, as much as I like the way this title spins, I really want to get my hands on the ECW World Heavyweight Title at last, so lets get this swap going." [Heyman] - "Sounds good to me Rob." Paul Heyman took the ECW World Heavyweight Title off his shoulder, handed it to Rob as the fans cheered and RVD gave the WWE Championship to Heyman in exchange. RVD held the title aloft before putting it onto his shoulder. [Van Dam] - "You can just go ahead and give that thing back to Coach or something." [Heyman] - "It'll be my pleasure, congratulations one last time Rob, you deserved it. As for now, I’ll leave you to talk to your fans." Paul Heyman then left the ring with WWE Championship title in hand and walked to the back as Rob Van Dam began to address the fans again. [Van Dam] - "I just want to say that if it wasn't for you, the ECW fans I'd not be here toda...." When suddenly "The Hardcore Icon" Justin Credible is seen sliding into the ring behind Rob Van Dam, the crowd quickly began to scurry and point, but as Rob Van Dam turned around he was meet with a huge J-Kick right to the face. With RVD down and out the crowd started to boo as Justin Credible bent down over Van Dam, shouted a few words at him before then picking up the ECW World Heavyweight Title off the canvas and leaving the ring to a resounding amount of heat from the crowd. [Styles] - "OH MY GOD!!, Justin Credible just superkicked Van Dam into next week, why the hell did he do that?!" [Tazz] - "Not only that Joey, he's taken the ECW World Heavyweight Title with him, thats one hell of a way to make an impact on ECW's debut show." [Styles] - "That can't be denied Tazz, he certainly made an impact on RVD's face. It's time for another break now but after we've got more extreme wrestling action as The Sandman is in the building!" Commercial Break As we come back from the break "Nitro" by Offspring is pumped out around the Hammerstein Ballroom as "Big Stevie Cool" Stevie Richards ****ily made his way down to the ring to await his opponent. [Styles] - "Its great to see Stevie Richards back in action here on ECW, wrestling on Heat every week just doesn't do him justice if you ask me." "Enter Sandman" started up as the camera started to pan around trying to find where the Sandman was coming out from, finally he appeared Singapore Cane and beer in hand to a massive response from the crowd. He slowly made his way through the ECW fans as they sang his song, stopping a couple of times to down a beer and crack the can over his head. As the song really came into gear The Sandman made it to the steel barricade, balanced on that and a chair to finish off one last beer before jumping over, making his way into the ring as Stevie Richards watched from the outside. [Tazz] - "I couldn't agree more Joey, its great to see Stevie back, but he sure doesn't look as confident as when he first got in the ring, The Sandman is one tough S.O.B." [Styles] - "You can say that again Tazz, "The Extreme Icon", for those who do not know, is a former 5 time ECW World Heavyweight Champion." Singles Match Stevie Richards vs The Sandman Two ECW Originals put on a short but good old school ECW showing, once Stevie finally got in the ring. At first Stevie ducked out the ring, seemingly afraid of the cane, which after a few trips to the outside he figured he'd try to even the odds out by bringing in a chair to go up against Sandman’s Singapore cane, to which the pair had a few good exchanges with. Then Sandman got smart after a minute or two going low and hitting "Big Stevie Cool" on the ankle making him fall into the chair as he fell. Richards after staggered to his feet, only to get nailed with an earth shattering Singapore cane shot to the head that nearly broke the Singapore cane in half. That alone may have been enough but "The Extreme Icon" put Stevie away with a cane assisted White Russian Legsweep. You know what, you got me you're right, thats a part of the reason why I'm here tonight. At One Night Stand though I had a moment, a moment of reflection on what path my career was going down. You see as I laid in amongst the barbed wire with Terry Funk, who was definitely worst for wear, staring up at this ceiling here in the Hammerstein Ballroom, I wondered whether the time had finally come for me to hang up the old sweat pants and sock for good. My career has recently gone to different places in which I probably didn't envision myself going down, joining forces with Edge is certainly one of those places and I understand some fans might not trust me as much as they did. However after my reflective moment, I decided to go home, to sleep on my thoughts, as well as I could of course thanks to the cuts and bruises my body endured in that tag team match. What is my conclusion you ask, well good ole lovable Mick Foley isn't quite finished yet, I want to give back to the fans just one last time, I want to help ECW move forward with a fresh start, but it just can't happen until I do a favour for all the ECW fans. The crowded cheered Foley for his words so far as he nodded and smiled to the fans, clearly liking having the crowd now in favour of him. [Foley] - You see there are always wrestlers who just can't let go and you may be thinking is Mick Foley one of them, to which I'd answer, no. Mick Foley doesn't need wrestling anymore, Mick Foley has a life outside of wrestling, Mick Foley isn't selfish enough to stand in the way of progress.....unlike some Tommy Dreamer! Yes, you heard me right Tommy, one would think after losing to Edge and I a few nights ago at One Night Stand, that you would finally see the light, but it seems you clearly have no respect for these dedicated fans. Instead you want to torture them with your presence, well its just not on Tommy! These ECW fans deserve more than to see you lose each week and I've nominated myself to help rid them of selfish wrestlers. You see Tommy you're like a certain Ric Flair, standing in the way of the future because you've not got anything that reassembles a life outside of wrestling, well, its time to move along, its time for you to give it up, its time for you to realize your not what the fans need anymore, its time for you to retir....." Suddenly Mick is interrupted by the sound of "Man In A Box" by Alice In Chains, as "The Innovator Of Violence", Tommy Dreamer himself walked purposely down to the ring with the crowd cheering, as Mick Foley exited to the floor outside of the ring. [Dreamer] - "Well Mick, here I am, you call me selfish and want to rid me from ECW, well I'm ready, lets go right here and right now!" As Dreamer laid the challenge back to Mick he sat down on the middle rope opening it up for Foley to enter, but Mick started to shake his and edge around the ring back to the entrance way much to the fans disgust. As he was walking backwards towards the brick wall entrance Mick had one last thing to say..... [Foley] - No no no Tommy, I and only I decide when and where I fight, unlike yourself I've earned this particular right, so have a nice day Tommy, BANG! BANG!!" [Styles] - "Can you believe what Mick Foley said about Tommy Dreamer Tazz, he is one of the most passionate and selfless wrestlers I've ever met in wrestling." [Tazz] - "I agree Joey, Tommy lives and dies for these ECW fans, so I can't understand where Mick is coming from, although I'd love to see them go at it one more time, it'd be a blockbuster!" [Styles] - "Just like our main event will be Tazz and speaking of which, thats coming up right after our final commercial break of the night, its Kurt Angle against Sabu, next, you don't want to miss this one!" Commercial Break Coming off the break "Huka Blues" immediately started up as "The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying" Sabu comes out from the brick wall entrance, stopping a few feet out to point to the sky, also known as Magician of Arabia, which is done to honour his uncle The Sheik. As the pulsing sound of Sabu's music continued he made his way into the ring to await his opponent. [Styles] - "Its main event time here on ECW and Sabu is looking more than ready Tazz." [Tazz] - "I can tell you now, I've been in the ring with Sabu and watched him wrestle on many occasions over the years, at times, Sabu is almost too extreme for ECW, he puts his body on the line every time he steps into the ring. I can't wait for this to get started" "Medals" started up as the camera panned round the crowd who started to sing along with the entrance music and cheer wildly as Kurt Angle burst through from the back and straight down to the ring. [Styles] - "Kurt Angle is a sure fire for the WWE Hall Of Fame, he is a former Olympic gold medalist amateur wrestler and during his time with the WWE, he won no less than six World Championships....." [Tazz] - "....And now he's in ECW baby!" Main Event Singles Match Kurt Angle vs Sabu An entertaining PPV caliber match up between the two components of Paul Heyman's new vision for ECW, the old school versus the new breed and it definitely lived up to expectations. After the initial chants of "E-C-W!" were heard around the Hammerstein Ballroom Sabu immediately started out by flying towards the legs of Angle, only for Angle to swiftly evade the attacks. On the third time of trying, "The Extreme Wrestling Machine" countered by dropping down to the mat into a solid headlock submission. Kurt Angle then dominated the match for the next few minutes once he had the high flying extremist grounded. Soon though Sabu managed to gain some momentum from the fans chants of "Lets Go Sabu", he rallied with the aid of some blows to the mid section whilst Angle had him in a chin lock. After escaping the hold he ran towards the ropes, jumped onto the middle rope and came back at Angle nailing him with a springboard leg lariat. With the change in flow of match Angle tried to get back up quickly but fell pray to another springboard move, this time of a tornado DDT variety sending Angle crashing head first into the canvas and rolling out of the ring. As Kurt and seemingly the fans caught their breath briefly for a few seconds, Sabu rolled out the other side of the ring and quickly brought a chair back in. He placed it near the side of ring Angle was outside of, backed up and ran towards the chair, using it to jump off onto the top rope into a springboard dive out towards Angle, only Kurt had him scouted well as he managed to catch Sabu when he came flying towards him. Once caught Angle pulled off an overhead belly to belly suplex sending Sabu's back into the guardrail violently, all in one fluid move. This of course prompted one of the largest "E-C-W" chants of the night so far. Kurt then proceeded to use the ring, ring post and guard railings again over the next period of the match to do further damage to the back of Sabu. Once Kurt finally rolled Sabu in he tried for a quick pin but was kicked out at a near two, so then Angle decided to switch up game plan and focus in on the back again, this time with a bone crunching body scissors. With Sabu now in deep pain he slowly struggled to make it to the ropes with his right hand, but eventually he did causing Angle to break the hold. With both wrestlers starting to tire now Angle pulled Sabu up, whipped him into the ropes, but somehow despite the pain Sabu's back was in he reversed it and as Angle came off the ropes towards him he used a drop toe-hold to send Angle's head flying into the chair that was still up. With this chance Sabu quickly hit a spinning leg drop on the back of Angle's head, picked up the steel chair and "The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying" Sabu climbed to the top turnbuckle to fly off with an attempted Arabian Facebuster. However once again Angle was quick enough to react, rolling out of the way causing Sabu to land crashing down upon the steel chair that he had placed beneath his leg. Kurt Angle then got up, waited for Sabu, locked his arms around the waist of the ECW original and hit three consecutive German suplexes. After Angle waited for Sabu to stagger to his feet again, before slamming Sabu back with his patterned Angle Slam onto the folded up steel chair. Kurt swiftly followed that up by locking on the Ankle Lock, Sabu tried to reverse it, but once Angle got his leg wrapped around Sabu’s body there was no chance for him, leaving no option but for Sabu to tap out. Winner via Submission = Kurt Angle (16:49) [Styles] - "He tapped, Sabu tapped! ECW's Kurt Angle is victorious on ECW's return to national television!" An action replay of the closing moments off the match is shown, the missed Arabian Facebuster, the German suplexes, Angle Slam and Sabu tapping out in the Ankle Lock. [Tazz] - "Oh boy and what a welcome the ECW faithful are giving him tonight, mad props to "The Extreme Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle! What a match Joey, even I'm outta breath after that one and I've gotta say it was a brave fight put up by ECW original Sabu, no one can take anything away from him either tonig...." As Kurt Angle is celebrating towards the left hand side of the Hammerstein Ballroom crowd, suddenly Randy Orton in jeans and t-shirt comes over the guard railing and slides into the ring where he meets Angle just as he turns around with a.....RKO!!! [Styles] - "RKO!!, Randy Orton just RKO'd Kurt Angle! Anderz
** nice introduction from Joey and Tazz - to be expected.. runs down the show and gives us some hype.. sem to have them both down quite well from this short intro.. nice line from Joey ripping The King - i lolled at least ** very solid way to kick off the show match-wise.. two very compentant teams.. match seems well written and quite easy to read - with a decent finish.. Mexicools vs FBI aint over yet though i suspect.. with Tazz plugging the Tag titles im expecting these two teams to lock up for the gold at some stage.. ** Al Snow talking to Head! great stuff.. I always love reading Al and Head promo's - and youve written it well so it isnt confusing to read... Danny Doring and Kelly? interesting pairing and Im happy that Doring has been given a spot.. plays the ****y bastard quite well - and having Kelly with him gives them both a use.. ** Good job on the Heyman promo and segway into the belt presentation.. RVD gets a chance to speak --- Hold On! He's not just the coolest, he's not just the best - he's JUSTIN CREDIBLE! - id mark out for JC today if he made an impact.. and he does so here - taking the title? interesting - im pushing Credible is a good thing I hope - he deserves a second chance.. book him well and he'll do great.. ** Stevie vs Sandman -- Sandman picking up the unsurprising victory - but id like to see a Stevie push.. a nice match with a couple of decent spots.. ** Matt Hardy in ECW is a very nice fit with his persona back then - Hardy as TV Champ? Should work.. but I was expecting him to be launched into a program with RVD.. as Credible has filled that role I have no problem with Hardy here.. ** Foley vs Dreamer continuing - should provide a very good storyline for the backbone of your shows without taking the whole focus.. very much like the Foley promo too.. ** Sabu vs Angle is next - and reads like a Rocket-Buster [/Tazz] - you seem to have both of their styles down quite well and Angle's persistance with the Ankle Lock gives him the victory - right decision - Angle should be the new Tazz in ECW... ** Closing segment is something im not 100% sure about and ill wait for more to happen before I judge it fully.. as im not sure whether id like Orton in ECW.. Orton'd get shat on by the ECW crowd but if the feud is booked well I wont have a problem with it.. very good opening show and some fantastic production and graphics.. KUTGW! berrysi
A berrysi & Now That's Cool Production

Wednesday 14th June 2006 ECW Notes, Orton News, Sci-Fi Characters >< Before last nights ECW debut show on Sci-Fi they ran two dark matches to warm up the crowd and have a look at a couple of indy wrestlers. Firstly Balls Mahoney defeated C.W. Anderson by pin fall in about 6 minutes after the use of a huge chair shot to the head. The second match saw The Pitbulls; Jamie Noble & Kid Kash, whom have recently been performing their new gimmick on Velocity, beat two relative unknown performers to those un-knowledgeable of the indy scene, Tyler Black & Trent Acid in a fast paced 7 minute match. The Pitbulls looked to have secured spots on the ECW roster thanks to Paul Heyman's extreme requests, whilst Black & Acid were personally invited by Heyman to perform before the show in order to run his eye over them and see how they reacted performing in such environment as the Hammerstein Ballroom. >< According to our sources backstage in WWE, we can reveal that the appearance of Randy Orton on ECW is actually as punishment for his excessive behavioral problems behind the scenes. With ECW seen by Vince McMahon and others as the third brand, moving Orton there is thought to be a demotion of sorts, its also allowed his feud with Kurt Angle to be continued. Some inside of WWE have seen this as somewhat of a pleasant punishment, but being on ECW will have a serious impact on his wage intake, with missing out of the major selling PPV's (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam). Its not known if this is a long term plan, however its pretty much all but confirmed that he will do battle with Angle at the first ECW PPV; Heat Wave 2006, in roughly 6 weeks time. >< Reports from backstage in WWE are suggesting that although the Sci-Fi Network were pleased with the quality of ECW's debut show, they are wanting an addition of Sci-Fi type characters to help the program settle on the network with their regular viewers. Paul Heyman is thought to be somewhat against the idea, although is willing to consider the demand, especially seeing as in OVW at the moment Kevin Fertig is available for call up to a main brand. Fertig used to go by the character name of Seven in his early years until he was called up to Smackdown as Mordecai, a religious Zealot-type character. For some reason the Mordecai character was dropped after a short stint and Fertig returned to OVW under a mask as Vengeance, before reverting back to the name Seven. Fertig seems to be the ideal wrestler to fill the void, however its not known if or what gimmick he'll portray, a Vampire type role has been rumored. Mtm2k6
I'm liking the layout :) You write great promos, everyone seems to have a personality here, nice to see all the ECW Originals being represented, and The Mexicools and Matt Hardy, I think they'd fit in well. LOVED the Al Snow part, Head's interaction with Kelly Kelly was gold! :) If you keep putting an Al Snow skit/match on every week, I'll certainly be happy! :D Keep up the good job! Now Thats Cool
A Berrysi & Now That's Cool Production

---------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the website of Extreme Championship Wrestling! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday - 15th June - 2006 ECW On Sci-Fi - 13/06/06 Hello fans and welcome to the first ever Most Extreme Player here on ECW.com. Each week an extremist from the Extreme Championship Wrestling roster will be chosen as the MEP, by none other than the voice of hardcore, ECW's own Joey Styles. Styles has been a commentator with ECW since the beginning and has overseen some of the most extreme moments and wrestlers in the business, so we here at ECW.com see Joey Styles as the perfect man for the job. So without further ado, below is Styles' first ever Most Extreme Player winner and his reasoning: [Styles] - "Before getting down to business, I would just like to go on record as saying that I loved ECW's premier show on Sci-Fi this week. In fact, I feel that this episode of ECW is almost (I say almost because I hate that coward Orton for ruining Angle's celebration) exactly what the new ECW needs to be in order for ECW to eventually be as strong a brand as RAW is in terms of worldwide television ratings, pay-per-view buys and live event ticket sales. I predict that within five years, the new ECW could sell out 20,000 seat arenas like The Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and Madison Square Garden in New York, rather than small venues like The ECW Arena and Hammerstein Ballroom respectively. I am not downplaying the significance of those smaller arenas in the history of ECW but I thought of seeing and hearing 20,000 extremely passionate ECW fans chanting "E-C-DUB!" is mouth watering to say the least. For you internet cynics who are instinctively replying "Dream on, Joey!" to your PCs and laptops, keep in mind that "Dream on, Joey!" is the same response I received from everyone who ever knew I wanted to become a pro wrestling television announcer. However, here I am penning (actually typing) this column as the Voice of ECW, cable television's new ratings powerhouse. In short, the only person who tells me what is and is not possible is me and I know that the true ECW fans reading this column agree with me. Now let's get down to the business at hand. Choosing this the first ECW Most Extreme Player is going to be difficult because there are so many qualified candidates such as, Al Snow for re-introducing Head to the world of wrestling, The Sandman for doing what he does best with a Singapore cane, Sabu for being "The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying" maniac that he is, Kurt Angle for proving what a world class wrestler he is in winning the first ever main event in the new era of ECW and that coward Randy Orton for doing what he does best, being an arrogant bastard. Justin Credible However that being said my Most Extreme Player this week was "The Hardcore Icon" Justin Credible for not only making an impact, but doing it to the newly crowned ECW World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam. He did so via the aid of a huge J-Kick to the head when Rob was addressing the crowd, not long after Paul Heyman had handed over to him his first ever ECW World Heavyweight Championship. If that wasn't enough the former one time ECW Champion Justin Credible then left the downed Van Dam in the middle of the ring and took off with the very title he once held in the past. Whatever happens next here is anyone's guess, but I know one thing for sure is that I am looking forward to two these ECW originals hooking up and possibly doing battle over the ECW Title the old fashion way! The extreme way! The old school ECW wrestlers still have alot to offer for this brand and we are glad Paul Heyman has been given license to let them do what they do best. Running down the show from the announce team to the main event, ECW originals made the show for us as they were all used in a way that works for them. Firstly ECW opened with a fast paced tag team match, a perfect way to start show and all originals looked at home again. Then we had an hilarious segment with Al Snow, which saw the return of Head, who was on top form and an appearance from Danny Doring, who wasn't just a jobber in a match. Justin Credible then returned taking out the newly crowned champion RVD, a great use of Credible and hopefully he can be made to look like a star once again, also two originals feuding over title, perfect. The Sandman, with original entrance then destroyed Stevie Richards via a huge cane shot, typical Sandy but that's what we like about him, no nonsense stuff. A Foley promo, well a surprise to see Foley again so soon but loved it, he twisted me up with his start, cheering inside, then he turned it around again and stayed heel, but I still loved it and Dreamer not talking for long was another good use for him, great looking feud continues. Finally Sabu showed what he is still capable of against Angle, a truly great use of another original with the right result. So the good this week is a collective ECW original usage, if that makes sense. The Bad >< On an impressive ECW showing, not much could be described as bad, however despite being only a couple of minutes worth of time at the end of the show, many fans continued to e-mail us in with complaints aimed towards, yep you guessed it, "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton. Our opinion here is that whilst Orton is a talented "WWE Superstar", he is an arrogant little bastard who has no place in the new ECW and it seems our readers believe this punishment of being moved to ECW is more a punishment on them than Orton himself. He has been thrown back into the Angle feud which makes sense storyline wise, but he is going to have alot of work to do to win over the crowd, then again folks he is a heel so heat is heat at the end of the day. So Randy Orton joining ECW is the bad, however he did once have a great hardcore brawl with Foley when was Intercontinental Champion so potential is there if applied, thats half the problem seemingly. The Xtreme >< Instead of the ugly, as many reviewers would do, we here at WNX like to focus on something we all like to see in wrestling, that being the xtreme! Of course xtreme spots shouldn't be used all the time and we applaud the debut ECW show for not trying to ram hardcore weapons down our lung holes on day one, as we all know that ECW is more than just being about hardcore. However this weeks xtreme goes to the Singapore cane shot to Stevie Richards head by The Sandman. It was an earth shattering shot that nearly broke the Singapore cane in half and word backstage is Richards is sporting a mountain sized lump on his forehead with an eye that is turning black quick. ----------------------------------------------------- WNX Wrestler Of The Week = Kurt Angle WNX Overall Show Rating = B+ ----------------------------------------------------- Copyright © WNX.com 2006.
