Oyaji
I'm looking forward to this one big time. I'm not sure if it's too late for suggestions but this one applies to both WMMA and TEW. One thing I think may make the process of creating shows more realistic and interesting is scheduling the venue ahead of time. Once you've done so and the promotion machine starts, perhaps the user would get updates on ticket sales as the game proceeds towards the event. This adds a new dynamic in that you need a bit of guess work in choosing the proper location and isn't quite safe as the method seen in TEW. I'm not saying the recommendation option should be removed, but be a bit less accurate. This gives an extra bit of drama in the build-up to a show. Capelli King
I quite like this option.
thedraem41
I agree with this option completely, it was missing from TEW. But, I'll take it one step further. If you don't have a complete card, it will be more difficult to promote the show. So, it benefits you to have your fight card planned. (But being able to make changes if it occurs, which may hurt interest in the show depending on what fight changes) To me this is a must for the game. Showtime4Lajf
Not sure how much it applies with WMMA, but if this is implemented in TEW a show like 'Mania, where the venue is announced a year in advance and the show sells out many months ahead of time should also be taken into account. Of course this would only be the case for shows that were extremely well known. I don't know that such a thing could happen in MMA, though. Oyaji
Having a card shortly after announcing an arena or at the same time is a really good idea as well. As you said, you then have added drama of not only waiting to see if you've made the correct decision in choosing your stadium but also the possibility of fighters bowing out due to injuries (or, as seen this past week with Krazy Horse, imprisonment). Oh, and PRIDE had some gigantic gates and were consistantly selling out (or close to selling out) the Tokyo Dome. And then there was the Dynamite show that did something like 75,000. I don't know if the UFC will ever manage numbers like that, but they're certainly moving in the right direction.

It drew around 90,000 people to the Tokyo National Stadium. Regardless of that Pride constantly sold-out the 45,000 Saitama Super Arena on it's own, more than twice the current UFC attendance record. Capelli King
Gathering such crowds in the us is more difficult as there is more competition in sports than in Japan, but who knows, 5-6 years in the future UFC could get close
Oyaji
I think MMA was so popular so quickly in Japan for two reasons. Martial arts is a huge concept and something accepted in the mainstream in that nation unlike in North America and there was a slow push towards mixed martial arts in wrestling starting with Antonio Inoki, and then UWF, and the resulting worked and not worked shoot promotions popping up in the 90s. K-1's rise didn't hurt matters either. And, yes, I was well aware Dynamite was a joint show. The 90,000 claimed was not even close to reality from what I've read. The main draws were Sapp/Nog, Cro-Cop/Saku and Royce/Yoshida if I remember correctly. Sure, having a fight like Hoost/Schilt doesn't hurt though. :)
TylerDrew
I've heard the joint show was closer to 72,000 than the 90,000 announced but still dear god thats huge.

And unless K1 comps out all their tickets and forces people to come to their show that record is going to stand a while :).
