Real Pro Wrestling: The Return of the Golden Era

Recommended Posts

This is a simple tale of the small 'rasslin promotion trying to become the World's No#1 in the Cornellverse. Has it got what it takes? Stick around, find out. Real Pro Wrestling bursts onto the scene! In a move that has caught many in the US wrestling industry by surprise, a new promotion based out of the Great Lakes has announced it's birth today, a promotion known as Real Pro Wrestling. Owner Matt M. has failed to disclose the logistics of this, but it has been confirmed that he has invested $250,000 of his money into the promotion. In a press release from earlier today, the promotion is described as a 'local sized, Traditional and Modern-focused wrestling company' that will try to balance entertainment with good grappling. More on this story as it develops. Yeah, so I'm certifiable crazy, because I've started up a diary! :D I'm going to try and live up to the standards of some of the brilliant diary writers on here, and have some fun. Hope that comes through :) Just a warning, not very big on previews (why waste time that could be spent on writing it up?), so I'll just put up predictions. I'll keep up to date with the goings on of the Cornellverse because it's great how every game turns out different. First show out probably tomorrow, just want to get used to the format of stuff and try to develop a style, so expect to see lots of editing!

Names being touted around include The Mean Machine of MAW fame, Ultimate Pheonix, Fox Mask and Joey Beauchamp, seemingly a mix of the promotion's strengths in Tradition and Modern. We'll have more news on future signings as time goes on. Other Wrestling News, Signings, Results, Reports from around the World INSPIRE have bagged the very talented William Hayes (a rumoured RPW target) on a PPA contract, and CZCW put on 'Surf Slam', which was labelled an 'awesome' show by wrestling fans, the MVP of the show widely thought of as Ultimate Phoenix. But then again, it's barely hard to surpass what TCW and SWF are calling 'wrestling' these days. This is the 'That's News To Me!' report, keep checking for additional updates.

The Latest Pro-Wrestling News Straight To Your Desktop! The Main Players' Changes Wrestling Legend to SWF Old wrestling star Pat Deacon has accepted a position in the SWF as a road agent, it emerged last night. An industry insider has said: "Deacon was a huge star back in the day so that respect that he's earnt, in addition to his great knowledge of psychology, should be invaluable to the young stars down in SWF. Talented Manager signs with TCW TCW has signed talented manager Playboy Jake Sawyer in a move that the IWC has welcomed. Sawyer is understood to be an old-school manager who can draw heat well, and with the lack of managers in TCW, expect him to occupy a prominent role and be the new manager of Rocky Golden and Texas Pete among others. Tuesday Night War report TCW and SWF both put on shows rated at 'C+' by our panel of experts. Ricky Dale Johnson beat BZL Bubb in the main event of TCW's weekly show, and Remo and Steve Frehley went over Christian Faith and Jack Bruce in matches rated 'B-'. SWF insiders are apparently disappointed at the main event, figuring it could have been better given the talent involved. Stars getting hot? Bryan Vessey is reportedly frustrated in PGHW, and blames politics for his being held-back, labelling himself the PGHW 'MVP'. We'll have to see whether he gets a push from his talent or punishment from his comments in the next few shows. The BHOTWG locker room is said to be a fractured place to be at the moment. Already reeling at the loss of 5 top stars to form INSPIRE and the subsequent success from it, Everest, generally regarded as a clumsy wreck by the rest of the locker room, is using his political power to gain a push in BHOTWG. Whether more wrestlers walk from the promotion or BHOTWG can bring back peace remains to be seen. Other Wrestling News, Signings, Results, Reports from around the World NOTBPW had an solid card last night, punctuated by the excellent 'A' rated match between Dan Stone Jr. and Jeremy Stone. Already this match is talked of as match of the year. T-Rex and Bruce The Giant surprisingly put on a decent match on the USPW show, a saving grace from an otherwise lax card. USPW is widely expected to fail based on the amount of veterans and inexperienced brawlers it currently has. RPW haven't announced any signings as yet, because it is believed to be sending off the contracts right now. We'll have the latest look at the signings and and analysis of the workers. This is the 'That's News To Me!' report, keep checking for additional updates. Up next, a look at an alternate world of wrestling as devised by one Ken V. Mohmcan, where there's only one promotion with surprisingly little talent. How likely!?

The Latest Pro-Wrestling News Straight To Your Desktop! Changes Aplenty The Big Boys Strike Again The SWF have been very active in the last 72 hours, snapping up 3 workers: Darryl Devine, Queen Emily and Puerto Rican Power. This change should be good for Devine, as he was stuck in USPW where he was being held down by politics and the increasingly older roster, where his style didn't fit in. For Queen Emily, this is a curious turn of events, because she left the SWF in Feb 2006 after a contract dispute. SWF were mostly likely hurting on the commentator front, so decided to bring in a familiar face who could deliver. Puerto Rican Power is 35 years old; but regarded as a hero in Puerto Rico, having scored victories over Dread, Rip Chord and Sam Strong among others. He certainly has the look, skills and charisma, but how will he fare outside the relative safety of his home island? Only time will tell. American Elemental was signed to a deal with TCW this week, bringing to an end his association with WLW and the rumours regarding him appearing as Elemental III. TCW abolished it's Cruiserweight division in 2004, so you have to wonder whether they'll give him the push he so rightly deserves, or use him as fodder. Jack Griffith was also given a second chance and has signed with TCW. Back in 2000-2001, he showed a lot of promise but a battle with alcoholism contributed to his downward spiral. Sources say that Griffith is in phenomenal shape and is thankful for the opportunity to work again. In Japan, BHOTWG has tried to plug the hole in their roster by recruiting Hell Monkey and Eisaku Hoshino, both very good workers, Hoshino being revered in Japan, leaving PGHW after a huge fall-out with the owner. PGHW snapped right back however by acquiring Koshiro Ino. While it doesn't offset the loss of Hoshino, it's a small help. Other Wrestling News, Signings, Results, Reports from around the World DAVE put on a weekly show on a par with SWF and TCW this week, showing they may not be as down-and-out as once thought. Acid and Chris Caulfield faced each other in a bloody main event that was seen as inspiring by other wrestlers backstage and were applauded for their efforts when they reached the gorilla position. 4 promotions have new owners this week: Shane Sneer take over RIPW, Ali Bloxsome has bought MOSC, Burning Exile has took WEXXV and 21CW exile Arson Wells has bought ROF. All promised to make their mark, be the best, etc. RPW filled out it's roster in a few short days, acquiring Fox Mask, Masked Cougar, Mean Jean Cattley, Snap Dragon, Stephanie Wade, Trent Shaffer, Ultimate Phoenix, Mario Herioc, Marc Speed, Mainstream Hernandez, Rhino Umaga and Joey Beauchamp. In addition to these well-known independent names, it has announced that the promotion's first show will take place next Thursday, with the name: RPW Beautiful Awakening. It is widely expected that a tournament to crown the RPW Heavyweight Championship will start on that night. Look for a fued for the title between Mean Jean Cattley and Ultimate Phoenix, as owner Matt M. is said to be high on both workers, as well as pushes for Joey Beauchamp, Rhino Umaga and Fox Mask. Trent Shaffer has also impressed. The show had to take place Thursday due to numerous date conflicts with promotions who also have their workers on their rosters. RPW shares quite a few workers with CZCW and Matt M. is said to be currently considering negiotiating a working aggrement between the two. We'll have all the news and reports from the debut of RPW next Thursday! This is the 'That's News To Me!' report, keep checking for additional updates. Thought: From now on, I'm going to post big weekly updates, as one every few days might make me break! lol Anyone like the layout? Card should be up tomorrow for the show and results tomorrow night.

The Latest Pro-Wrestling News Straight To Your Desktop! The Week Ahead In a move that will surely damage DAVE, the SWF signed Carl Batch away today. Batch, who previously managed the Peak Brothers and later just Eddie Peak, is said to be thought of as a more modern counterpart to the recent acquisition of Playboy Jake Sawyer for TCW. BHOTWG have beaten off GCG and INSPIRE to bag Samoan Machine. Under his real name Bali So'oialo, he started working for INSPIRE earlier this year but has now committed to BHOTWG under a written contract. He is said to have great intensity and psychology and upper management were very pleased to secure him and show INSPIRE that they're still No#1 (for now). Another Tuesday, another edition of the Tuesday Night Wars. Our panel of experts deemed that the SWF had better weekly show, putting on two good matches, Sam Keith carrying Enygma and Runaway Train continuing his reign as SWF World Heavyweight Champion by beating Steve Frehley, both matchups rated at B- by our experts, although Enforcer Roberts was considered to have the best performance of the night, beating Jubo Shrimp in a C+ rated match. TCW had an average show, with Ricky Dale Johnson once again being their saving grace, defeating Genghis Rahn in a good matchup. Other Wrestling News, Signings, Results, Reports from around the World Darryl Devine, heading to the SWF, jobbed to Corporal Doom on USPW Americana!, but got the victory in a truly terrible match with Eric The Bull. Let's just hope Richard Eisen wasn't watching . . Giant Redwood once again used his backstage friends to become new National Champion over Jim Force. Redwood, a truely horrible wrestler, was apparently boasting to the locker room after the match. How much longer before he decides he wants the main title, thus dooming USPW? Jim Force's post-match interview didn't go well either. He continually refered to 'spaceships, an Ultimate Warrior, some person called Arcturus, a white tiger and eventually screamed BUY MY MERCHANDISE!' according to a bemused onlooker. Perhaps in line with this, the network carrying USPW American Wrestling is alleged to have demanded more from Sam Strong or risk losing their TV slot. We'll keep you updated on the latest . . NOTBPW were saved from a very subpar card with a rematch from last week's match-of-the-year candidate, this time Jeremy Stone beating Dan Stone Jr. You've got to wonder how the promotion would do if forced to take away the Stone family active wrestlers (they'd still have Sean McFly though). RPW has announced the expected tournament for the RPW Heavweight Championship, cleverl dubbed 'Road to the Gold'. The matches in the tournament are as follows: Marc Speed vs Ultimate Phoenix Snap Dragon vs Mario Herioc Mainstream Hernandez vs Mean Jean Cattley Rhino Umaga vs Fox Mask The announced card for their first event, RPW Beautiful Awakening, sees the first two tournament matches appear, and a pre-show dark match especially for the fans featuring two very promising talents: Dark Match: Trent Shaffer vs Joey Beauchamp Tournament Match: Marc Speed vs Ultimate Phoenix Tournament Match: Snap Dragon vs Mario Herioc This is the 'That's News To Me!' repot, keep checking for additional updates.

RPW: Beautiful Awakening from the Ohio Jewish Center! The Announce Team: Rock Downpour and Sara Silver Pre-Show As the crowd eagerly anticipates the first event from RPW, British talent Joey Beauchamp storms down to the ring, microphone in hand, clearly cheesed off with something. "I was backstage just now, wondering by the office, and what do I see? The Tournament for the Title, Road to the Gold, does not include Joey Beauchamp! The greatest British wrestler of all time is not in the tournament? I want answers, right now!" (E+) Rock Downpour: "I think Tommy Cornell may have something to say about Beauchamp's claim just there!" Suddenly, some music hits, and, to not much reaction at all, out comes Trent Shaffer. "Please, Joey, just shut up!" (Draws a slight pop from the crowd) "You may have noticed, Joey, that right now we're in Ohio! Not England! But you know, I'm not in the tournament either. Sucks right? Tell you what. How about we have a match, right here, right now, and we'll see just who's the better man, huh?" "Poor Trent, poor, poor Trent. You're going to see exactly why I am the rightful champion here!" With that, Trent runs down to the ring, and we got a match up here folks! (E+) Trent Shaffer vs Joey Beauchamp Joey stomps on Trent as he enters the ring and gains the early advantage beating him into the corners before Jez McArthur can even get out here! When he does however, he orders Joey back and checks to see if Trent wants to continue, which he does. For the next few minutes, Joey uses his arsenal of dirty tactics to keep Trent grounded and it seems to be effective, until Trent slips out of a back body drop and takes to the air with impressive speed! Joey is stunned and after a few minutes of this, Trent catches Joey with a move he calls the Heart Burn! 1, 2, 3! Joey didn't even realise what was happening! (D-) The Main Show Immediately as the show starts, Mean Jean Cattley comes out, and it looks like we're in for another dose of complaining. "I demand to know why I'm not already the RPW Heavyweight Champion! When I signed for this pathetic organisation, the owner told me I was going to be awarded the belt! I come here, and I now learn I have to go through the formality of a tournament! Why bother? You know who's going to be the champion!" (D) Interruption? Ultimate Phoenix precedes to interrupt him, microphone in hand, and some of the crowd who recognise him cheer for him shutting Mean Jean up. "Mean Jean Cattley! How great it is, to see an honourable man like yourself out here! But let's not waste time on introductions. I'm sure you know who I am!" (The crowd cheers again, seeming to agree with Phoenix's assessment of Mean Jean.) "So, cut all the whining, the crying, the b****ing on why you're not champion and learn that you have to fight for the title here! This isn't MAW! You can't just give yourself the title here!" (The last statement draws laughs and oooohs from the 29-strong crowd who know of Mean Jean's MAW commitments, and Ultimate Phoenix looks like he's having a great time, p***ing Mean Jean off all the more.) RD: "Good lord! Can he really say the b-word here?!" SS: "Rocky, we get away with a lot worse in Babes of Sin City!" "But then again, BSC is barely better than pornography in my opinion." "You told me you love it Rocky!" She winks at him. "Well . . but . . no that's not what . ." He thinks better of replying and instead concentrates on the action, but you can clearly tell his face is bright red. "So tonight, Jean, I say I get the chance to show you why there's a few obstacles in your way before you get to the big dance!" (D) Just as Mean Jean goes to answer this, he is cut off by none other than Color Commentator Sara Silver with a microphone in her hand. "Boys, there's something I forgot to mention to you two and the people in the back, that I am the new General Manager of RPW!" She pauses, waiting for some kind of reaction, but with the audience not really knowing who she is amd not really caring, the effect is minimal. "Now you two know that you're both entered into a tournament to determine the new RPW Champion, so I'm afraid I can't allow you two to sort out your personal differences tonight." This drwas slight boos from the crowd. "However, Ultimate Phoenix, you will be in action tonight, in the first round of the tournament, in a match that starts right about . . NOW!" (D) Marc Speed makes his way out to the ring, clearly looking all business. Ultimate Phoenix vs. Marc Speed Mean Jean heads for the back, but, thinking better of it, turns round and sits down at the announce table to join Rock (who is looking at Sara surprised she's the GM) and Sara on commentary, never taking his eyes off Ultimate Phoenix, who stares a hole right back at him. As for the match, Speed takes advantage of Phoenix being distracted and scores some devastating kicks right off the bat and pounds Phoenix on the ground, forcing Jez McArthur to haul Speed off. On commentary, Mean Jean says that Ultimate Phoenix is going to get crushed by Speed, and will never face him in this tournament, simply because Mean Jean is better than Ultimate will ever be. Rock brings up the interesting point about what Jean would do if faced with Marc Speed, who's looking impressive in the ring right now. Mean Jean tells Rock to shut up and seems to go quiet. In the ring, Speed dominates Phoenix, hitting him with various kicks and repeatedly locking him in armbar variations. Phoenix manages to get to the ropes and, when the ref hauls Speed off again, catches Speed in a small package for a two count. Speed look angry and promptly kicks Phoenix in the face, nearly forcing Referee McArthur to disqualify Speed. On commentary, Mean Jean insinuates that Phoenix must be very ugly to wear a mask. "I mean, who knows what he's hiding under there?" Rock asks Sara when she became GM of RPW, prompting Sara to reply: "He knew I was best for the job! You know, Rocky, I can hire and fire whoever I like . . but I like you Rocky. It's fun to toy with you!" Sara smiled as Rock seemed to pale just a little bit . . Speed whipped Phoenix into the corner. Running up, he attempted a spear, however was met with a Brisco roll up for a close two count! Speed seems flustered and comes right back with a snap suplex, getting Phoenix up again before hitting a few German suplexes and a graceful Floatover T-Bone Suplex, but Phoenix manages to kick out at two. Speed picks up Phoenix and sets him up on the turnbuckles, looking for a Muscle Buster. However, Phoenix agains proves agility is a gift, and floats over to land a devastating neckbreaker, scoring a close two count! When Phoenix asks if the ref counted right, Speed warily gets up, and Phoenix turns round into a combo of punches and kickes to the arm before Speed hits him with a painful looking Armbreaker! Again, Speed covers, to get a two count! Speed picks up Phoenix and sits him on the turnbuckles, looking a little slower to move given Phoenix's ability to counter. This costs him in the long run, as, looking for a Super Armbar, Phoenix kicks him off, lines him up, and hits it! The Phoenix Firebird Splash! 1, 2, 3! (C-) Phoenix celebrates his win, still clearly in pain, clutching his arm. Mean Jean takes off his headphones and sarcastically applauds for him while walking to the back. Snap, Crunch, Pop Snap Dragon is in the back for a promo. He tells of the great pleasure he got when RPW contacted him to appear at the show and how he can't wait to face some of the wrestlers, including Masked Cougar and Ultimate Phoenix. He says he heard the comments of Mean Jean in the last match, and asks: "Mean Jean, since when were you so handsome! If anyone deserves a mask for ugliness, it's you!" He concludes by saying he give the fans a treat tonight! (E+) Simply Heeeeeeerooooooiiiiic-a! Mario Herioc is standing by backstage, wearing a hideous shirt that Laurence Llewelyn Bowen might wear. (little reference for the Brits :p) He says that as time is money "And they don't nearly pay me enough" he'll keep this short. He procedes to run down his opponent for the night, "Snap Dragon, you've got no style, no sense of flair baby" and promises tonight's victory, and subsequent title win, will be "Simplyyyy . . . Heeeeeeroooooooiiiiiiic-a!" (D-) Snap Dragon vs Mario Herioc This match is just as good as the match from earlier, as Herioc and Snap complement each other in the ring. Herioc seems to think that wearing down Dragon would be the best idea, taking the wind out of him by using Powerslams and Knees to the Stomach in addition to Abdominal Streches and Dragon Sleepers. However, when he goes for a normal Sleeper, Dragon runs to the turnbuckles, bridges back and scores a 2 count! Herioc gets up, shocked at the fact he wasn't able to put Dragon away and Dragon almost eeked out a victory. Mistake! Dragon is already on the top turnbuckle, and hit a great looking Corkscrew Takedown, which stumbles Herioc. Dragon, getting a lot of support from the crowd now thanks to his awe-inspiring moves, keeps going up top and hitting beautiful Aerial moves, and try as he might, Herioc can not avoid or catch him, and seems to be out! But Herioc manages to catch Dragon at last and hit him with a modified gut-buster! 1, 2, thr-NO! Dragon kicks out! Mario looks in astonishment, and gradually gets angry "Oh not cool, baby, not stylish at all!" Herioc whips Dragon to the turnbuckles, only to recieve a huge dropkick for his troubles! Dragon heads up to familiar territory and hits a HUGE Crossbody Takedown! He heads up again, looking for a Moonsault Body Block . . only to find no-one is there. He turns around, to be met by a Hero Attack off of the ropes from Herioc, who finally had the sense to dodge the Dragon! 1, 2, 3! Match over! (C-) After the match, Herioc beckons to the cameraman to come over. Herioc stares into the camera and says "And that, darlings, is why I am SIMPLYYYYYY HEEEEEEEROOOOOIIIIIC-A!" Final rating: D+ Apparently I've not got enough storylines, but with a 12 strong roster and a tournament that hosts 8, how many can I have? Might just put on a few unchained ones to cover my lower card, something for them to do. The Tournament matches realy delivered in my opinion, and I'm pleased with the outcomes. Phoenix - Cattley should be a good fued to write for. And I'm digging the Mario Herioc character, baby! :D The show improved our popularity in the Great Lakes to 6.4% from 5%, and thanks to the internet I'm 0.2% everywhere else. Prestige is up to 0.1%. The Internet Report labelled Real Pro Wrestling: Beautiful Awakening as a 'really good show for them'. Overall, I'm pleased with the result, next month's show should be good. Comments anyone? :)
