James Casey
I'm considering starting a new game to play alongside my others. I think I'm likely to end up in Canada, probably with CGC, but might try Japan or Mexico. I figure I can book Canada much the same as most of my feds, using talented workers and chucking in the odd angle among around80-90% matches, but Japan and Mexico I'm not so sure about. If I go to Japan, how would I go about booking tours? My one previous try saw me going broke quickly, so should I be rationing the big names to one or two appearances a show? Also, will the fans dump on cheap finishes - and if I try and run storylines, is there any point in booking ones that require angles? Or should I just ignore storylines altogether? In Mexico, should every match be a lucha libre style match, or just those matches that feature lucha performers? I know there's a very strong face/heel divide down Mexico way, but how do the fans feel about cheap finishes? All help gratefully received :D
TylerDrew
I've played alot of WLW and I'll say I think their product is a great introduction to Japan. You can toss in the odd angle and it often works out well. They lose money at first but not alarmingly, and their workers are MUCH better than you'd expect for a promotion that size. Give WLW a spin to try Japan you won't have to change up much. Mexico, I have no clue
NOAH fan 4 life
ill give you some advice about Japan. if youre starting with a small fed the easiest way to be successful is signing younger worker and gaining their loyalty, then they cant be poached by other promotions. also dont run touring schedules if youre a local or small promotion; your bank balance will hemirage very quickly whereas if you run one show a month you only make small losses and eventually a profit fans dislike screwy finishes more in the smaller feds than in larger feds. if you have a match, dont want a decisive winner but dont want the crowd to crap on it then make it a time limit draw. the Japanese fans dont mind them occasionally i run storylines, all unchained. it really depends on your product in terms of how many/what kind of angles you run. a simple promo will work in any promotion, but obviously if youre booking PGHW you dont want to run angles such as comedy skits or t-shirt firings etc. the best advice i can give you if youre running a local/small sized promotion is limit the amount of workers you have/use strictly. if you are local, just have 10 guys on the roster and only use 6 a show. for small you can afford to have 16 guys and use 10 a show. you only need one announcer and referee. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! if youre using a smaller fed then make your user character a road agent with a high respect rating. smaller promotions often suffer from not having enough locker room leaders and a good road agent obviously is hugely valuable as he makes every match better finally this is another trick for using a smaller fed. when youre local run all your shows in ONE region. your popularity in that region will go up quickly and youll get to small much quicker. the same applies when you go small; youll lose much more money if you try and spread the love. when you get to regional, try and build your popularity to about C- in your home region, then start running shows in ONE other region until you are popular enough in that region to go cult. then when you go cult youll be making money and you can afford to have shows lose money so you can run anywhere you like. booking larger promotions is much easier as almost everything works; with PGHW the booking is very simple and you have instant access to fantastic workers, with BHOTWG your prestige is so high you can hire anybody you want (loyalty and written contracts excluded obviously). ive never played with INSPIRE but since its basically just MMA you dont need to worry about storylines and angles at all. id recommend starting with a promotion you would feel comfortable with; start with WLW if you like/are used to focusing your shows on angles and storylines, if you want a simple promotion to let you get used to running in Japan then use PGHW. use GCG if you like a challenge. 5SSW is also pretty easy as there is so little competition but the talent pool is small. use WEXXW if you want to die i hope that this advice is helpful
